Inspired by @txttletale 's post, I decided to try my hand at making a custom V1 magic card.
Card Transcription
V1, Marksmachine 2UBR Legendary Artifact Creature - Construct Coin Toss - Whenever V1 attacks, defending player creates four tapped Treasure tokens. Untap them at end of combat. Marksman - You may choose Treasures as targets as though they were creatures or players. Ricoshot - Whenever you cast a spell that targets a single Treasure, destroy all Treasures, then change the target of that spell. Copy that spell for each Treasure destroyed this way. You may choose new targets for the copies. 3/3
End Transcription
Art Link
Here are some design notes:
This is a top-down design meant to translate the Marksman weapon from Ultrakill. It allows you to toss up to four coins, which ricochet bullets shot at them.
This is meant as a combat-trick focused commander, allowing you to clear the way for V1 by copying removal spells. That said, there is an alternate approach in making your own Treasure tokens and copying more powerful spells at sorcery speed.
Yes, you can use this to take extra turns.
The flavor words match with in-game terms and are meant to help in parsing which parts of the card do what.
Coin Toss: V1 can toss up to four coins at a time in-game and they deactivate upon hitting the ground, which is translated as untapping them. The opponent can use the Treasures as they wish after that.
Marksman: I'm somewhat unhappy with this flavor word, but I couldn't find an in-game term that fit this better. The wording and effect of this ability is novel, and I had to extrapolate the wording from [[Know Evil]] (fantastic card, that)
Ricoshot: This is the in-game term for ricocheted bullets. I had to refer to a whole bunch of different cards to make this ability parse well, but I'm happy with it.
Overall this card is very wordy, but has one less word than [[Tom Bombadil]] so I'm in the clear :)

I'd been meaning to do more Wizard Tumblr Magic cards, but hadn't gotten around to it, but I… finally did, I guess. Anyway, here's a card featuring @wizard-eater.
I realized I'd forgotten to include the holostamp in the earlier cards, so I added that this time, and I figured I probably ought to include the URL of the Tumblr user the card is inspired by, so I did that too… although I'm not really happy with the placement; I'm going to try to figure out a better place for it.
(I do still intend to set up a Neocities page and put these cards, among other things, there, but I, uh, haven't gotten around to that yet either.)
As usual, this card has not been playtested, and I have no idea whether it's anywhere near balanced.
[OOC I haven't been on Tumblr in a while because I'm currently at Gen Con, and it's keeping me very busy. (For those who don't know what Gen Con is, it's a big game convention in Indianapolis.) I figured it would be thematically appropriate to post another Magic card while I'm here and managed to make time to do so, but I probably won't make another post until Monday when I'm back home.]

Shoujo☆Kageki Secret Lair
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a whim, I thought it would be fun to make some cards for the RevStar girls, and thus that immediately became a full Secret Lair. The one benefit of using this frame and requiring flavor text is that I really couldn't make the abilities too complicated
All art is by @kamezaemon
Of course there's a bonus card too!

In Stars and Time Magic Cards: An Update
I made better art for my cards, and I tweaked a few designs. May tweak some stuff more as I play with them more. Initial playtests have been fun, so I think I've hit on a new fave deck
This time I also have a Loop card. I didn't make one before because at the time I hadn't done the secret boss and learned Loop's deal. I have now, and my design subtly hints at their secret. So spoilers ahoy.
I also meant to make a Reflection token, but forgot. Got it this time

Fake MTG card I made as a world-building exercise for Ouranos.
[edit 16.4.24] My thought process was that, aside from a few select cards that I'll make, there's no way to block this card or destroy it prematurely. 'Immutable' was the best keyword I could come up for that.

Custom Zombie Warrior mtg token I made for a friend. (It's the one from god eternal oketra) You can also use it as a Zombie Army or Zombie token if you feel so inclined.

Another Hollow Knight card I made. In this hypothetical set, dimir focuses on sacrificing creatures or milling, and flavor wise it's represented by the bugs of the Soul Sanctum.

Got hit with random inspiration for an Alan Wake themed card. The reminder text makes it look super wordy, but I suppose that this would likely be higher rarity I could have done it without that. Oh well, still like this design. (This probably counts as Alan Wake II spoilers, so I'll tag it for that.

Link the Fire is the first of four Dark Souls commander decks I'm working on, inspired greatly by the Warhammer 40k decks- which are both really excellent, fun products and what got me into Magic in the first place!
Link the Fire is a Legendaries matter Mardu sacrifice deck with an emphasis on sacrificing your legendary creatures to maintain control over the board and keep yourself in the game.
The Gods in Dark Souls, and Gwyn in particular, obsessively create champions to sacrifice in the name of prolonging their power. All of that is futile, however- the Age of Fire is ending, and the best you can do is delay it. To that end, you may sacrifice Gwyn to prevent a loss- but once you've done that, you're only staving off the inevitable unless you find a path to victory.
Control is at its best when it's built in a way that encourages the control player to seek a fast way to close out the win once they've established control over the board. While there are means to flood your board with legendary creatures and negate the main downside of Lord of Cinder, they're not terribly common- and if you get to that point, I think it's quite likely you've done enough work to justify some security. There's always the threat of a board wipe or aggressive removal, and if all else fails Gwyn doesn't make it so that other players can't win the game- Laboratory Maniac to the rescue!

What I imagine an Amalia card would've looked like in MKM.
Tumblr media
Thoughts under the cut
So obviously whenever someone goes through an omenpath their color identity seems to change. First from Troyan in WOE who was a member of the Red/Blue Izzet League on Ravnica but is Green/Blue on Eldraine to Kellan who starts Red/White, then becomes Green/White, then Green/Blue, then Green/White/Blue changing colors each time he goes through an omenpath. The only exception to this rule seems to be the desparked planeswalkers, but I'd argue they'd have a stronger connection to their color identities than the random joe schmoes going through omenpaths.
This fueled my decision to change Amalia's color identity, but to what? Well the MKM story only barely mentions her, being investigating a ruin and investigating the plane's history. And then it hit me. What other group is interested in history in mtg lore? Lorehold College, Red/White, a color identity which also fits her vampire status, with most vampires being in red/white/black.

Finally got around to making another Wizard Tumblr Magic the Gathering card, this time featuring @anti-wizard-council.
(I also finally labeled the layers in the Photoshop document I use to create these so I don't have to turn the layers on and off to figure out what's in them, and organized the layers into folders, which should make it a lot easier to make more of these in the future.)
I do plan on continuing to make these; there are a few other wizardblr figures I already have card ideas for, and I also have ideas for a few non-legendary Wizard Tumblr cards, because even though I definitely don't expect to make the equivalent of a full Magic set, I still figure the Wizard Tumblr cards shouldn't all be legendary. (I've also got a new mechanic I plan to put on some of the non-legendary cards, which... well, you'll see when I get to it.)
I also do eventually still plan to get around to setting up a neocities site where I can archive these (and a few other things), but I guess in the meanwhile you can see the other Wizard Tumblr Magic cards by searching my blog for the tag #custom mtg.
Once again, I emphasize that these cards have not been playtested, and I make no guarantees about their balance or lack thereof.
