RANDOM THOUGHTS: Unknown ep. 10
I’m going into this episode hoping for further progress in Qian and Yuan’s relationship (especially after Qian’s moment of introspection at the end of the previous episode). We also saw in the preview that we’re getting more about Qian’s health status in this episode and that Yuan might get pissed at Qian for keeping that from him. And then, let’s see if they cut the episode before the kiss or not.
Shitless Qian! That’s a nice start (if we ignore the nosebleed, which, to be fair, isn’t that ignorable).
The way Yuan stared at shirtless Qian… I mean, 100% relatable.
I wouldn’t want to sleep alone after that Russian roulette shit either.
The way they’re fucking snuggling in bed! Qian’s leg over Yuan’s, Qian holding Yuan’s arm with both hands, and Qian brushing his thumb on Yuan’s arm in that comforting manner…
Wait, Le is worried Qian’s condition has worsened? So, he knows that Qian has a chronic condition? (I can’t remember if this has been mentioned before or not. My memory is hella fuzzy when there’s a whole week’s wait between episodes.) Perhaps that’s why Le’s been so adamant to keep Qian out of the gang and make sure they don’t cross paths again.
Nosebleed again…
”I’m fine.” The biggest lie ever told (and most used) in the history of humanity.
The way I cackled when the Doc suggested that San Pang should also get a neurological examination.
WTF! Nosebleed again… Please, Qian, get yourself checked out!
The whole ”don’t tell Yuan” will cause more trouble than actually telling him, though. I’m sure that’s why Yuan avoids Qian (the short snippet, in the preview of this episode, when Yuan walks into the house). I’ve been in Yuan’s shoes, and it fucking hurts when the truth comes out later than it needed to.
Yuan must’ve heard more than he let on. He practically tried to run away from the clinic. And the fact that Qian is lying to Yuan… Trouble, trouble.
I don’t mind that Yuan is getting bold (or, bolder). The talk about tying up Qian… I’m on board with that to a million percent!
Yuan definitely knows something serious is going on. But how much does he know about the whole truth? Most likely a lot more than he lets on. Like I wrote before, he must’ve heard what the Doc said. But he might not yet know how long it’s been serious. Qian has had issues for years, right?
Oh lord… Look at these idiots trying to cover up for Qian. I’ve got to love their loyalty to Qian, though. Even though I need someone to tell Yuan the truth (preferably Qian, but I don’t think that will happen…).
Seriously, I would fucking snap if I was in Yuan’s shoes. No way I would take part in this bullshit coverup. Either you tell me the truth (because that’s always easier to deal with) or I’ll avoid you like the fucking plague.
Lol, Yuan is really laying it on thick when he talks to San Pang. Emotional blackmail. But the situation clearly calls for it. Qian is more silent than a brick wall.
And then he uses the Lili-card. He knows exactly what to say to get San Pang to cave. I love him. So, please, someone tell him the truth, for fuck’s sake!
Just as I thought, Yuan heard everything at the clinic that day.
Finally! The truth is out. Thank you, San Pang.
Yuan: ”Do you still think this is just about you?” That FUCKING. BROKE. ME.
I’ve been sitting here, trying to get my eyes to stop leaking for the past 30-ish minutes so I can watch the rest of the episode. What is this series doing to me? They’re gunning for my emotions with Yuan’s reaction because it’s relatable to me.
Qian must know he fucked up, though. If he blames San Pang for telling Yuan, I’ll be fighting back an urge to kick his shin. (I know he’s fictional, but that also means I can give him a fictional kick, just for the fun of it.)
I can’t call that blaming San Pang. Not really. Okay, Qian, I won’t fictionally kick your shin. Not right now, at least…
Btw, San Pang not telling Lili about Qian’s condition… She’ll be just as pissed at him as Yuan is with Qian right now, right? I honestly can’t wait to see her lose it on San Pang and him begging for mercy and forgiveness. Is it weird that I want to see him on his knees as he begs? I wouldn’t mind him crawling either…
I get Qian’s fear of going to the hospital and perhaps never coming out again. BUT! If Yuan and Lili knew the truth, they could prepare themselves for the possibility that Qian might not make it. Qian just dropping dead isn’t going to help anyone, though. And how would they feel if they found out about his condition after that? And finding out that he knew about it?
I wonder how Qian would feel if their roles were reversed. As in, if he found out either Yuan or Lili (the two people who are most important to him) had kept something like this from him.
Am I the only one who loves that Yuan is avoiding Qian? Because I fucking LOVE IT! And he ignored Qian even though Qian had made Yuan’s favorite dishes. This is my shit! (I know, I need help…)
Oooh, Yuan is both bold and bossy in this episode. I didn’t know I could love him any more than I already do. I was wrong.
Is it weird that I’m excited to see the confrontation I know is coming within the next 10-ish minutes?
San Pang is saying all the right things and asking all the right questions. Now it’s up to Qian to figure it out on his own (perhaps with a bit of help from Yuan).
Qian getting emotional is making me emotional. What is this series doing to me?
San Pang: ”Do you want him to have a future without you?” My eyes are leaking again! What the fuck is this series doing to me?
I stopped mid-confrontation because Yuan’s calmness was killing me. But, also, some of the things Qian has said so far gave me the feeling that his approach to figuring out if his feelings for Yuan are brotherly love or something more is more about thinking/reflecting on it rather than feeling it. In my experience, thinking isn’t the best way to gain clarity when it comes to emotions. Clarity comes from feeling and experiencing the emotions. So, just shut up and kiss already… Perhaps it’s time for Yuan to give Qian a little nudge in the right direction, even though he’s been so cautious not to cross the line since he came back home.
Qian: ”All I know is I can’t live without you.” The fact that he’s admitting that, out loud, to Yuan… We’re making some progress.
Seriously, Yuan’s calmness is killing me. He still thinks it’s his problem that he fell for Qian. He still thinks it’s his shit to handle. He still doesn’t want to put that on Qian. Being calm is almost like his armor.
I fucking knew they would cut pre-kiss! That’s just mean.
This episode was great! I loved that Yuan finally found out the truth. I loved that he ignored Qian (again, it’s a me-thing). I loved all the emotions. Seriously, the amount of time I spent crying… I just realized it took me just a little less than 2 hours to watch this 30-ish minute episode…
What is this series doing to me?

im the a6/sorenn anon and while for now most content is on patreon(s), cal's ex info was definitely discussed on their discord, and some of the pegasi info (especially the youngest ones) used to be free to read on aerie's patreon (not anymore i believe. btw, someone literally had to remind aerie of tilaari!mc existence, she edited tilaari!bro one to add their relationship only after that😅😅😅), so im not leaking any behind the paywall info! dw yall are not missing much if you can't afford to be a patron now, their characterization is kind of weird tbh especially compared to the mc's ("traveler was raised as a humble noble" vs "sike bc everyone else wasn't but somehow they are all from the same household"😂😂)
but yeah, not only calderon's ex betrayed him for kmerii, but also his best friend (not sorenn, the other one duh) and im not 100% about this, but there was a free piece (preview, I think) which was heavily hinting he did it for her (aka cal's ex) lol! idk if any of this has changed since then, but man, what a personal life
also, i dont think cal and arlo really knew each other, cal probably just knew of him/who he was from sorenn or when he was in the palace with his mom. arlo prob wasnt even aware of his existence or didn't care asdfgh just still its weird that cal wouldn't know of kit!mc imo
holy SHIT, the fact Cal's gf (I assume Aeriie made it so she was his gf at the time of the betrayal bc that just. makes sense) and his best friend turned on him for the k'merri?? methinks they may have been the ones who framed him based on his in-game dialogue. YIKES, no wonder this man has like three sticks up his ass.
i wanna join the discord for info like this but i've never joined a public discord so i'm kinda scared to LOL, thank you so much for sharing!! maybe i'll muscle up the courage to join but idk.
also i agree with you on traveler making more sense being snobby. the only traveler who seems to have canon reasons for being less of a snob is kit!traveler, because Nikolle was the most well-adjusted of the queens before she got sick, and Sorenn was a pretty nice prince, so kit!traveler had him to look up to. personally i think it'd be super interesting if traveler's mom influenced their personality more. i also think it would be fun to play with the idea of traveler being a far kinder person when they don't remember their past, and then feeling conflicted when they remember their royal lineage because we know through dialogue that they were predisposed to dislike mercenaries already. how would their old personality rear its head? would it at all? just fun things to speculate.
to the arlo point, i went back and played both june and cal's route through episode 6 the other day and tried out every single hobby option on both of them LMAO i have problems. but anyway i believe you're right in that Cal knew of Arlo rather than knowing him directly, i believe he says something like "No offense but he always seemed like a little shit" and Traveler is like "None taken he totally was" LOL.
i can see why cal wouldn't know mc, but also HOW CUTE WOULD IT HAVE BEEN IF THEY SAW EACH OTHER IN PASSING AS KIDS??? UUUUUGH missed potential imo

Btw, those Bad Boy leaks were proven to be fake and just someone in some discord group posing as Zekken (who was a big AoT leaker in the past) to rile people up. I'm pretty sure it was from THAT group of people from reddit that just hate the ending and Isayama. It's also blatantly obvious how false that leak was because the "leaker" claimed that Bad Boy was the whole 49 pages of volume 35 which contradicts the official announcement that it will be 18 pages. The rest of the volume will be the added content (Ex: Armin and Eren's conversation) from the final episode in manga form. That leak also completely contradicts the preview pages that were already released and just a bunch of canon in general so we can all just breathe haha. The one thing that pisses me off from this fake leak though is now people are trying to bring down Levi's character by calling him an incest child and insulting him.
Well, that's not surprising at all, lol. It sounded about as fake as it comes. Why anyone would actually believe it to begin with just shows how stupid and gullible some people are. Like you said, it was probably the same people that just want to shit all over the ending and Isayama. It's just too bad some people believe anything they hear on the internet. And I'm not surprised that Levi haters are taking it and running. Those people already prove every time they open their mouths that they're functioning at a... let's say reduced level of brain activitiy, lol, so of course they would believe this dumb shit. Let 'em keep grasping at straws. They're so desperate to pull Levi down that they'll even use fake leaks as a way of criticizing him, because in reality, there's nothing to criticize him for.
Also, even IF these rumors were true and Levi WAS the result of an incestuous relationship, it wouldn't reflect on Levi's character at all, since he won't have had anything to do with it. Again, it just proves what a bunch of morons and douche bags Levi haters are.

// Spoiler for Kingohger ep 24 Preview Sypnopsis //
It says "what is the surprising truth that Jeramie discovers?" which brings about two/three-ish ideas I have for what this could be.
1 ) Racules' ACTUAL body / whatever they've done to it I'd guess
Since we never actually saw what was in Racules' coffin in the previous episode, and that Masato Yano hasn't gotten his flowers yet, there's a good chance he's out there still alive. And there's an even bigger chances the Bugnarok were the ones to find his body (and probably gave Shugoddam a decoy one to cement his death). This would be interesting as it parallels Gira from episode 9-17. And maybe, we'll see ZERO return too (since we don't know what happened to it) and possible have Racules control the castle mech (and maybe God Kingohger Zero???) since I think somewhere it was stated that both brothers can control the castle.
2 ) There's another bugnarok spy
I mean, if Kamejim as Boshimar was able to trick all the characters, then who knows how many other people out there could possibly be bugnarok in disguise. Possibly would lead to tension btw Jeremie and the Kings cuz then he'd be like "what if I'm giving Bugnarok crucial info?"
2a) Good bugnarok
Then again, there's always bugnarok like Gerojim so instead he finds proof that there's a group of bugnarok (possibly including hybrids) that also want peace between them and Humans and do not side by Deznarok's plans. This would give Jeremie a little kingdom to rule over and add more to his side of the conflict. Or maybe its a clan that was previously thought to have been destroyed by Daigorg actually having surviving members and also are against desnarok because he killed their family / members.
3) It all a lead up to the highly likely kyoryuger cameo.
Cuz I think according to leaks it's supposed to be Sept for the toy release so there's a chance there is a build up towards that crossover instead. So possible like the new Gabutyra ? who knows

I suddenly started re-listening to the very first preview of DC tryout of If/Then and I love how everything was slower and quieter and redundant and I can feel the audience being so so confused (they didn’t even know there’d be two storylines in this show... poor guys)
I wish the very first version of the libretto is somehow leaked... I need it...
Anyway here’s some random thoughts about this version
(I’m pretty sure the quotes are wrong because my ears can’t understand English properly)
(and I’m pretty sure I’ve made this kind of posts several times before but it’s years ago on my another blog so I hope no one remembers)
Lucas: “don’t ask her rhetorical questions. she’ll do the math”
I always wonder why they changed Beth being her college nickname to just a “serious name”, but I guess it’s because they wanted to make it clear that both Liz and Beth verses are her brand new life
Liz: “does she (Kate) do this all the time?” Anne: “just a tip of the iceberg!!!” (I’m pretty sure this isn’t the correct quote)
I like that they changed some of Beth’s solo parts in MoNY to ensemble’s parts because I adore the ensemble in this song (so I will forever complain about how they cut the best ensemble part from this song on the tour... why Michael why Brian why Tom??? I’m glad in the published libretto they put it back where it came from)
Lucas uses a cab to rush to Beth but can’t pay
Most of the interactions between Beth and Lucas were rewritten and I can see they worked a lot on these characters to make them not too unlikable but not too likable (does this make sense???)
Lucas: “I feel like you get meeeee”
Lucas & David ANMMH duet. period.
Elena do the same thing with Beth as Beth did when Stephen told her romance the site or whatever
Story of Jane is such a fun song (but I know NMWT works much much better and Brian why did you think it’s a good idea to give her another name when she already had two)
also this song was the counterpart of It’s A Sign in Liz verse
Anne’s whistle
I’m still confused what’s going on with the scene with Stephen in hospital
“dun dun” the world changes cue hasn’t been invented yet except in Surprise
also every scene changes sound too quiet without that cue and the Liz/Beth motif
“Lucas and I... we’re in love with being young” (I’m not sure that’s what she said but my ears heard it like that)
I love that Kate proposes Anne in both Liz and BETH verses. I wish it was kept in the final version
act 2
Right nooooow right heeeeere I don’t like this song. It didn’t really work.
The fact that they moved the plane accident episode from the beginning of Act 2 to the later scene tells how they didn’t write this show to tell a story... or stories... or even characters... because all the scenes and changes really make sense if you think about this show as, quoting the earliest tagline, a “musical about how choice and chance collide"... This show is about concepts. The plane scene was moved, not because it was needed to move the story forward or develop the characters, but to make it a bigger and more reasonable impact that affects the characters’ lives and choices to tell about choices and chances... ok I stop blabbering nonesense
Here I Go reprise after Hey Kid. I know it’s not necessary but still it’s cute and it’s always nice to have a reprise
*the audience laughs during I Hate You* YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT’S COMING (it’s like people laughing before He’s Not Here in N2N)
btw someone near the master of this audio is definitely sleeping. I hear your zzzing!!!
the intern “Dr. Vaaaaaaughn???? fiiiiiiive minutes??? .... yEA”
This isn’t about the DC version but the BW previews but I’m still sad they cut the second Beth verse from YLTLW and never put it back even in the published libretto... I really loved how it transits from one universes to another by “Beth goes to bed alone and then Liz falls asleep alone”
I somehow love this part inthe old version of the lyrics “I stumble upon the long-lost set of chess”
but if they kept it people would have made tons of Chess The Musical jokes
well Idina was in it
Beth: “fuck sweet”
I much much prefer the new NMWT and LWYC but I love when Anne sings “be my wife” in this old version
also Jenn Colella had more solos
tbh I’m still confused their marriage status
tbh I’m still confused with the whole Act 2. Because I don’t have the script. gimme the script.
I think the orchestration was much simpler than the final version? I’m not sure I’m not music expert, but it sounded less layered and simple
I love What If and I know it works better in the show, but I really love If I Told You (or whatever it was called)... at least I wish Tyler McGee aka Sexy Guitar Guy had more solos.

629: "Violent Shock! Incredible News that Shakes the New World!"
Tumblr media
A rocky old place, ain’t it? No white sand beach resorts here. Lots of sunflowers, though. And a Colosseum. Even trattorias and quaint cobbled streets, according to the preview.
This is Italy, isn’t it?
Only had time for one episode but that wasn’t a problem at all. Thankfully, there was a lot to unpack in 629, plus more highlights than
There was the return of Thriller Bark. Updates on the whereabouts of key OP figures. Luffy yelling down the line at Doflamingo. The reveal of why Law is set on sailing to Dressrosa. Why Kinemon is also keen to go. The arrival of new villains. The reveal of Doflamingo’s cunning plan to snare Luffy. And the reshuffling of the Shichibukai and the appointment of a VERY FAMILIAR CLOWN.
I’m still laughing, btw.
Also have to say I liked the new opening. Seemed spoiler free and it was interesting that they have pitted Luffy so openly against Blackbeard (and Akainu, I suppose. Now there are two Big Bads. Actually beginning to wonder if there ever will be a Final Villain in One Piece).
They Call Him Scoop McGee Absalom
Tumblr media
The action picked up with the immediate aftermath of Doflamingo’s resignation from his throne and the post of Shichibukai, which sent ripples through the OPverse. Now the protection conferred by Doflamingo’s Shichibukai status had vanished, his subjects lamented, “Dressrosa is done for!”
Elsewhere, an unwinnable war raged. Unwinnable because the side in question had struck a deal with the Donquixote family. Now Doflamingo is no longer king, the supply chain has dried up.
Various famous faces who had grabbed newspapers were next. Jewelry Bonney was a nice surprise! I thought she’d been arrested by the Marines after that whole thing on the burning island with Teach. She’s obviously in hiding (standard hooded cloak) but still in action. That’s good. There was also a brief shot of Jimbei and Crocodile’s hook.
But who was the mysterious journalist behind the leaking of the Strawhearts alliance? The Kidd/Hawkins/Apoo Alliance? The fact Doflamingo had resigned both throne and warlord role?
He is known only by the name Absa.
I would have struggled to predict who Absa might have been, had they not shown a tiny Thriller Bark satellite ship.
It’s obviously Absalom. Invisibility is his thing. He’s obviously been sneaking about. For what purpose, I have no clue. Maybe Moria is out for revenge? I’m pretty certain he’s still alive as Doflamingo said he disappeared in front of his eyes. I like the thought of Moria getting angry enough to come back into the limelight. (I’m still crossing my fingers he’ll help Luffy and Law with Kaidou. Moria definitely has enough of a grudge to do it.)
We also got hard confirmation that Kidd and co. are after a Yonko. Their target is as much of a mystery to me as Luffy and Law’s is to them. (I still think it might be Shanks.)
I love it when Oda takes time to set his arcs within a wider context. Even more so now. It’s especially relevant here, given the recent emphasis on the interconnected nature of the New World.
And speaking of connections...
Hello. Is it Caesar You’re Lookin For?
Tumblr media
Once the contextualisation was out of the way, the action cut back to Sunny. At the end of 628, Doflamingo had finally picked up (after deliberately making Law wait to ramp up the tension. The theme of control is strong with this one).
Of course, Luffy had to formally introduce himself.
“HELLO. I AM LUFFY. I WILL BECOME PIRATE KING. OI, MINGO!” I love Luffy has already given him a nickname. “So you’re that idiot Caesar’s boss? That bastard hurt Brownbeard and the kids! We’ll give Caesar back since we promised but if he ever does anything like that again--” at this point Caesar himself was cringing hard in a corner “-- I’ll beat the crap out of you too!”
To his credit, Doflamingo did not rise to the bait. Sure, a few veins pop and he does questionable things when angered, but in negotiations, he remains cool as a cucumber.
“Strawhat... two years have passed since your brother died and you disappeared from the New World. Where were you and what were you doing?”
At that point, I never realised the significance of Doflamingo’s reference to Ace, so I just thought he was getting a, “Lol, ur brother is ded” dig in.
Of course, Luffy wouldn’t tell.
“I was hoping to run into you,” Doflamingo continued. “I’ve got something here that would make you drool.”
Since Luffy doesn’t do metaphors, he thought Doflamingo was talking about high-quality meats. To be fair, I had no idea what Doflamingo had up his sleeve at that point, so it could have been high-quality meats for all I knew.
Law was annoyed that Luffy had given Doflamingo the chance to control the conversation and snatched the DDM.
“Joker, we will hand over Caesar as promised.”
Doflamingo is not dumb, though. “That’s wise. You know well what would happen to you if you backed out now. First thing’s first, though. I want to confirm that my vital business partner is safe.”
Law held up the receiver. Caesar scooted over.
“JOOOOOOOKEEEEEERRR, I’M SORRYYYYYYYYYYY! YOU LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF ME, BAWWWWWWW--”
And Doflamingo was like, “Yup. Sounds like he’s fine.”
I lol’d at that. (Was that a lowkey burn from Doflamingo?)
Law continued to keep matters strictly business. “In eight hours we will be on Green Bit. We’ll drop off Caesar there. Pick him up yourself. We will make no further contact.”
“Awwww...” Doflamingo retorted. “And I wanted to have a drink with you now you’re all grown up--”
At that moment, Luffy decided the conversation was at an end.“JUST HANG UP ALREADY!”
He cut the connection. The Strawhearts were left alone on deck to process what had just happened. Sanji was smart about a loophole Law had left in negotiations. Law had never specified how many people could accompany Doflamingo to pick up Caesar. Theoretically, Doflamingo could arrive with an army at his back.
Law wasn’t worried. The Caesar handover was just a distraction. (Rather bold of him to discuss this in front of Caesar himself, by the way.) Destroying the Smile factory was the real mission. The only issue? Law has no info on the factory. I’m assuming they’ll have to infiltrate Dressrosa and locate the place.
Luffy was like, “You ever been to Dress Roba?” (Lmao, I’m sure he’ll get the name right eventually.)
Interestingly, Law said he had never been! There go my theories of Law growing up in Dressrosa and working for Doflamingo. :(
He definitely hates Doflamingo, though. His reasons for not stepping foot on Dressrosa? “He is king of that land.” Something has gone on between them in the past. Doflamingo has known Law since he was a kid. So did Vergo. What is the connection here??
At any rate, Luffy was blase about the whole affair. Infiltrating hostile territory to find and destroy a factory that will cause shit to hit the fan and draw the ire of the entire New World? Yeah, let’s just make up a plan as we go!
For Law, who is a clever, patient and careful man, this was just too much.
As the Strawhats filed past him into the kitchen for sandwiches, he stared with the vacant expression of a man who has stared into the depths of the abyss and found Luffy’s grinning face staring back.
He snapped.
“I HATE BREAD!!”
Then you have have a gluten free wrap, Law. Chill. Everything’s going to be fine.
At least, I think.
In the kitchen, away from Caesar’s sensitive ears, they discussed where they would dock and other important initial steps of their master plan. Kinemon also revealed why he wanted to travel to Dressrosa.
Apparently, they had set out for a place called Zou but were shipwrecked. Only one of the other samurai reached the shore with Kinemon and Momo. Doflamingo’s people pursued them. Momo tried to slip unnoticed onto a ship but it unfortunately sailed straight for Punk Hazard. Their other companion, Kanjuuro, was taken prisoner.
Law was interested in the whole Zou thing, as he had planned to travel straight there to reunite with his crew (Yay! They’re okay!) after taking care of business in Dressrosa.
Luffy was like, “EXCELLENT! WE’LL GO TO ZOU, THEN TO WANO KINGDOM. I WILL SAVE YOUR COMPANION TOO!”
And Brook randomly farted right in the middle of it, lmao.
There’s a Starman, Waiting in the Sky
Tumblr media
And while Luffy and Law were busy making plans for Nigel, an Important Meeting was taking place at Marineford.
A grave Marine called Brannew took the podium in front of a room full of serious-looking, high-rankers (Brannew, get it? He’s a Brannew Marine to the story, ahahaha.)
“As you all know,” he announced, “there are only seven Shichibukai. They are pirates who have been given permission to plunder by the World Government. In return, they grant us overwhelming power and prestige. Their allegiance to the World Government instills fear in pirates around the world.”
A line up of the more recent Famous Faces flashed across the screen.
Mihawk, Kuma, Hancock, Law, Donquixote Doflamingo, “The Celestial Yaksha” (I have yet to google that to find out what it means) and a newcomer.
Who was this newcomer?
He is the man who rapidly grew strength over the past two years. Commander of the Pirate Dispatchment Org and Living Legend: THE STAR CLOWN BUGGY!!
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!
Of course it could be no one else that Buggy! Who else would have such INCREDIBLE, BEWILDERING LUCK!
Even Buggy admitted he was totally winging it. “It’s not like I asked for this. The World Government kept bugging me so I had no choice. That said, this is only a rung on the ladder. I’m moving up in the world now. In a few years, I’ll be a Yonko.”
And you know what?
I believe it.
Only Buggy would be able to become a Shichibukai by accident. Why not a Yonko too? The World Government must be pretty desperate to fill spare seats if they asked Buggy.
The serious Marine also spoke of the grave situation surrounding Doflamingo’s sudden resignation. Law’s activity and alliance with Luffy is under suspicion. Depending on what he does next, Law may be stripped of his title too.
Akainu agreed. “We cannot allow Law and Strawhat to do as they please. Smoker from G5 sent me a rather annoying message yesterday. We should observe the situation for another day. I have dispatched Fujitora.”
A couple of things.
Did Smoker send Akainu a message from Kuzan? Is that why the message was “annoying”? Maybe it’s both inconvenient (bad news) and annoying (it came from his old rival).
Who is Fujitora? A new Marine villain, high on Justice? I can but hope.
At any rate, the Marines are also on the move and are watching events in Dressrosa closely. This is good. The more conflict, the better!
You Magnificent Bastard
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in sunny Dressrosa, Doflamingo was also cooking up plans and future conflicts of his own.
In his palace, Doflamingo sauntered down a long corridor and entered a room with four high-backed chairs carved into card suits. As he is the Joker, I’m guessing Doflamingo has a theme going.
He apologised for keeping the others waiting. We only met two of the suit card squad. Diamante and Trebol. Trebol occupies the Clubs suite chair and is creepy. He does not understand personal space bubbles (even with Doflamingo) and he keeps insisting Baby 5 wants to marry him (creepy). His Devil Fruit power is also slightly gross (he blorts everywhere) and he has a perpetual hang snot. Not my kind of villain.
Diamante is at least funny. Example:
Doffy: “The colosseum is as popular as ever. That is thanks to you, Diamante.” Diamante: “Not at all, Doffy.” (I love that they call him Doffy.) “This is due to your charisma as king.” Doffy: “No, it’s because of your talent.” Diamante: “Oh, stop talking like I’m some hero of the colosseum.” Doffy: “But you are.” Diamante: “You exaggerate!” Doffy: “Fine, you’re not.” Diamante: “OKAY. IF YOU INSIST. I AM INDEED THE HERO RAAAARRR!”
Lmao.
That was weirdly humanizing. I get that Doflamingo is the villain here and he has no qualms over sacrificing his people if it needs to happen, but he knows these guys pretty well and gets on with them. Maybe it’s successfully manipulating them, sure, but the man still has social skillz.
Once the comedy moment with Diamante was over, Doflamingo asked Trebol to bring forth the Important Thing.
Trebol handed Doflamingo a mysterious box. “This is sure to pique Strawhat’s interest,” he said. “Their alliance can very easily become a disadvantage to them. I will entrust this super important box to you, Diamante.”
After some funny reverse psychology back and forth, Diamante agreed.
Then Doflamingo made the Big Reveal. The Big, Glowing, Shiny Reveal.
When he said he had something that interested Luffy, he wasn’t lying.
But it wasn’t high-quality meat.
He has Ace’s fruit.
And he is going to use it as leverage to break up Luffy and Law’s alliance.
What a magnificent bastard.

Hi. Are you going to do the 2nd ep preview post? I would like to read your opinion.
Hi anon, thank you for being so patient. I watched the promo a bunch of times and I also saw the stills from the episode. Now, in case you avoid spoilers, I am not saying I have them, but I am not sure which information was confirmed by the show runners in interviews by now. I don’t count trailers, promo pics and still as spoilers. If the information comes from an interview, trailer or other official sources, it ain’t a spoiler.
Moving on..
1. Jaime vs Dany ...
I have seen some people are talking about Jaime’s trial in episode 2 but I was very confused. I was telling a few friends last night - nowhere have I seen it confirmed. I think someone speculated Jaime is on trial and the entire fandom ran with it. Happens a lot. No, we haven’t had any confirmation this is a trial. And I know people think this is the case because he is standing, you have armed guards behind him somewhere, you get a Dany table and a Jon table... well... no. I disagree.
Is this meant to somehow parallel the Tyrion trial(s)? No... I don’t think so. Mind you, Jaime is not in chains. This to me looks a lot like a petitioner to the court would be received. You have the monarch (in this case the alliance - Dany in the middle, flanked by Jon and S.nsa), and then you have the rest of the court. Plus, it has been established the North side doesn’t like the Dany side, hence the two tables, hence they sit separately since the Northern Lords are like YoU cAn’T SiT WiTh Us. The guards would and should be there by default. Jaime is standing because he is addressing the Ruler.
Keep in mind, the previous episode finished with Jaime arriving in incognito mode in WF. Maybe Bran calls the guards and Jaime is taken into the Great Hall to explain himself - not only is he arriving in non Lannister colours, he is also arriving by himself. He’s got some explaining to do, since last these people have met, he was to march to Winterfell with an army to aid in the fight against the Army of the dead.
About Dany’s discourse - Dany and Jaime haven’t officially met. He tried killing her on the Field of Fire 2.0 and he almost got roasted by her baby Drogon (*pets* the best son ever). They also crossed paths in the Dragon Pit Summit (LMAO idk why I am calling it that; I guess it’s because fake truce or armistice is too much; oooooh let’s call it a parley). But they haven’t actually spoken. And Dany has some things to say to the man who killed her father. In my opinion (but who the fuck knows anymore since the writing is killing me and after episode 1 I have so little faith), Dany will have her Queen mask on, she is angry because quite frankly WHERE THE FUCK IS THE ARMY BITCH. Like ofc this means Cersei betrayed them, you don’t need a genius (*cough* S.. *cough*) to tell you that if he is travelling low key and alone.
Dany needs closure. She will probably tell Jaime - listen, my brother told me all about you; because you killed my dad we had to flee; because you killed my dad we were poor and starving and on the run; the only thing that made us keep going was fantasising about all the ways we would kill you to avenge our father. I don’t blame them, tbh, it’s quite normal, considering what Viserys was feeding her. But! Dany knows now that Viserys was lying; that her father was a mad man. She knows this from Barristan Selmy. So I am REALLY hoping that heavy and meaningful speech that is making Jaime shit his pants (fo real look at his face lmao someone gif it pls) and Tyrion to look 10 years older is ending in something along the lines of “My daddy was cray cray; you did good; you can live; but try to kill me again and you die.”
Why? Because it makes sense, and because we have seen Jaime fighting in the trailer, so we know he survives this meeting.
On the other hands, the Starks also have beef with Jaime fookin Lannister - honestly get in line.
Now... do I think Bran Starkashian the drama queen (present at the meeting) will drop the bomb that Jaime pushed him out the window? Hmmm... I cannot make up my mind. My issue is that if he does, then it’s gonna create more drama, and after episode 1 I think the writers can bring it up and just gloss over it (ugh remember how they dropped the Viserion is a wight news?). But, I also think that since Bran isn’t Bran anymore, then what does this matter to him? If this were still Bran, sure I could have seen a point in revealing it. They could also just do a Bran vs Jaime scene in which Jaime goes to apologise and Bran just says some trippy shit.
2. S.ansa vs Dany in the Library (sitting in a tree K-I-.. neah we’re not there yet)
So, as it’s framed, I am guessing Sansa says something to Jaime, hence the look Dany has on her face at the table in the Great Hall - must be something surprising. Then I guess we get their private meeting over how y’all bitches should have never trusted Cersei. I guess S.ansa is at least directly talking to Dany not instead of, ya know, AT HER or ABOUT HER. We also have a still with a fake Dany smile, but I am hoping for some meaningful dialogue here. Dany and S.ansa have quite a lot in common so I really want some meaningful chat here so we can move the fuck on from the train wreck that was the episode 1 welcome. Will this be the episode the writers let S.ansa actually use her brain? We’ll see in 80-ish hours.
3. Jorah x Varys x Tyrion and then some Sam and some Gilly stills
I think this is either before or after a joint small council meeting. But since Dany is in her white outside coat again, then it must be after Tormund x Edd arrive. They look intense so maybe it’s more likely afterwards. Maybe something happens in that meeting.
Also the stills of Jon x Arya and the one of Sam x Jon look from the same place. Sam’s intense look shows me that he might have some residual tension with Jon after that shit reveal. Jondry 5eva.
The still of Sam x Gilly x Little Sam on the bed is so cuuuute. I hope this is post the crypt discussion with Jon and it’s when GIlly knocks some sense into it. Alternatively, it can be the night before the war for some more extra feels.
4.  The Forge x Arya
Guessing Arya is going to Gendry to pick up her new weapon and to deliver her Many Faces speech. Is she saying it to Gendry? I think so. Guess this is also where we gonna see sexy Gendry hehe *Gendrya intensifies*
5. And then it gets weird to me... two battle scenes? MAYBE? WHO THE HELL KNOWS ANYMORE
When I first saw the troops moving in the day, I said cool beans, so maybe preparations. But then I see a catapult going off during the day? And more stress? And more people moving. Tormund x Edd arrive during the day too. And we know they are technically behind the dead, since Last Hearth, where Ned Umber was supposed to be was already passed by the dead (since we got the message) so they can’t be arriving before the dead, can they? So how come they arrive and deliver a “they are coming message” and Jon asks how long do they have? How can they be moving faster than the dead? These aren’t slow zombies and Tormund x Edd don’t have a snowmobile laying around. Do they?
But then you have night battle scenes or rather preparations: Missandei x Grey Worm kiss, Jorah with Heartsbane I hope (I hope this is Sam’s token of I have been a shitty boy to your Queen pls say sorry), Arya with a bow (I am so turned on btw), Jorah riding with the Dothraki, Tyrion on the battlements, Jon on the battlements, Lyanna Mormont in armour!!!! So something is happening as night too. Is this a continuation from the day prep? Is this something else entirely? Then why fire the catapult? Is it a test? Am I overanalysing? Certainly.
What is sure though is that we won’t get a battle this episode, we will get the build up to it and everything in between.
6. Jonerys in the crypts
Ah again some actual leak info I have from when Friki was still allowed to talk (nothing new, just something he has already said), but I’d rather say in a different post. So this is clearly not following the Sam x Jon chat, since here Jon has his furs, and Dany is dressed again in her outside white fur coat. My bet is this is just before the battle, and Jon went to pay his respects to his dad (and mom?) one last time, because he is an emo sad boy.
Is this about the reveal? Hmmm not so sure. It is very reminiscent of the Dragon Pit when Jon was sad he had fucked up with Cersei and Dany went to console him. Maybe this is post small council and Dany also goes to console him (she is wearing the white coat there).
7. More small stuff from the stills that we didn’t get from the promo
Tyrion drinking in front of a fire - maybe he is with Bran, since he is also pictured close/next to a hearth.
Sansa eating - she could be in the Great Hall. She looks quite relaxed so idk maybe this is in a more informal setting. Maybe it’s the same as the one with Tyrion.
Bran in front of the Heart Tree during the day - I am hoping one more vision. Maybe this is before Tormund x Edd arrive? Or after? Is Bran trying to see the NK again?
Gilly outside - maybe she is talking to Davos who seems to be in similar setting in a different still?
I think I might have skipped some stuff, but feel free to ask :)
I have quite high hopes for this episode. I am hoping it will end the fucking drama once and for all and I am hoping they let Dany speak for herself more, since she was really toning it down in episode 1, in hopes of appeasing the North. But since that didn’t work, I am so fucking ready to see the Dany we know and love. The Queen we chose.

Sarazanmai ep 8-10
Dead tired after the move but this may be my last chance to put my thoughts on record before the finale so we power through!
Long and contains spoilers so... cut!
First, the neutral-to-negative.
1. This will probably come off like I don’t have (enough) faith in Ikuhara but knowing that tomorrow’s episode is the last one, it’s hard to see how everything will be resolved.  lt already it feels like many promising storylines were sidelined before being fully explored and we’re unlikely to go back to them.
2. For example, whatever happened to Kazuki crossdressing as Sara?  Now that he’s back to being close with his brother, the costume goes back into its box and stays there? Like don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that Kazuki has been freed from the guilt and self-hate, and can re-find his true calling as a combination red ranger (brave & loyal) and pink ranger (pure-hearted shoujo heroine).  But it seems a little too neat.
 3. For that matter, for a show that draws so heavily from idol culture (the dance numbers & kappa zombies blindly gathering whatever object the idol shills for on TV) we haven’t gotten a lot of information on Sara either....and she’s the title character... there was a bit about her and keppi’s relationship that was funny albeit kind of dark but now we also have “the dark keppi” to think about which might take some of the spotlight away from Sara. (Though I do think she’ll have a bigger role in the finale, see: title character.)
4. This raises questions like, why do we even need a dark version of keppi?  Aren’t otters already the dark version of kappa?  Plus “my depressed half that I completely disowned and pretended was not a part of me, so it festered and grew in power” is tired, not wired.  I’ve seen this plot before in bad tie-in movies.
5.  Finally and this is probably my only actual complaint... while we got a lot of screentime on Enta’s feelings for Kazuki, they never got more complicated than loving and admiring him (and NOT wanting a carnal relationship with him, contra Mabu who *did* sleep with the temptation otter, and got his feelings classified as “desire” not love.   So far the only “love” we’ve seen has been platonic, can’t a sexual relationship be “love” too? Or as RJ says, “for a show about a white blob going up your ass, this show is surprising non-sexual”.  Yeah cause sexuality and specifically, gay sexuality gets punished by the narrative >_> not sure if that’s the message you were trying to send here, Mr. Ikuhara.)
5a. Note that the above is NOT a complaint about Enta, I find him very relatable, but more a complaint that his story stayed pretty one-note the whole time.  The only additional detail we got on his feelings was the blink-and-miss it moment with his sister in the hospital, where we learned that he was once a lonely transfer student and so the friendship with Kazuki is even MORE important than we’d guessed, possibly why he didn’t want to risk losing it, again very relatable but pretty evil how this spares him from being corrupted by Otter while Mabu becomes a monster of the week thanks to his “desire”.
6. I’d put Tooi’s petty criminality and drug-dealing on the list of interesting angles that were brought up then sidelined never to be mentioned again, but I’ve seen the previews so I know we’re getting into it next episode :p A lot of what we’ve been seeing with Tooi is ALSO just an elaboration on what we saw in his first leak BTW, the same as Enta.  But his character is cooler and he’s more level-headed (or seems to be more level-headed) so folks just let it slide.  Anyway, what we saw in his leak was that he’d be willing to murder someone for the sake of his brother, and he’s stayed true to that. He’s just been racking up the bodycount in these last few episodes.
Anyway those are the negatives... onto the positives!
1. Even though I think this show is probably too short and may not be able to deliver on everything that’s been set up so far, I’ve enjoyed all the individual episodes.  That episode (9?) that started with keppi getting run over by a truck and ended with the fake-out of Tooi probably being dead, only to ACTUALLY kill Chikai after the cut, was quality edge-of-seat suspense TV, for example.
2. And then we got a callback to that pacing style in episode 10, except that this time, three people actually did die... and two stayed dead, only Enta was fortunate enough to come back to life.  This is a great way to show the escalation of the situation.
3. Also aside from being good TV, I agree with @sasukejewchiha that it probably has some thematic significance... basically saying something about the way that everyone is looking for a magical solution to their problems (that are not all magical in origin), but  there are too many problems, and not enough magic to go around.  That’s a powerful message.
4.Going back a bit, Enta and Chikai was so great, two characters you would not expect to ever meet, and they get along just fine.  Chikai is a scoundrel but he’s got some charisma and I think this is the only place where you really see it, the rest you could chalk up to just Tooi looking up to his older brother.
4b. Justice for Masa, was it because he knew Toi was a murderer that he had to die?  Or did he set Chikai up?  After the ending montage, I don’t think we’re supposed to see Chikai as just a bad guy, that was the image he was trying to project so Tooi wouldn’t follow him (though certainly, with some truth to it too).  Also this is minor but the thing with the lollipops was kinda clever... at first I thought it was censorship because you can’t show cigarettes in a primetime show so they are often replaced with lollipops but nope, they were actually lollipops the whole time LMAO.
5. Returning forward, the Reo and Mabu storyline, after all of the set up, was very satisfactorily resolved.   MABU WAS A PERSON THE WHOLE TIME!!!  I can’t get over it, this is some CLAMP level psychological fuckery.  To say you can be with someone you love only if you pretend that you don’t love them.... And Mabu seems like the kind of anxious guy who requires constant reassurance of others’ love... this is torturing the characters for the sake of torturing the characters, total CLAMP power move.     Otter must have known Reo was listening outside the door, he totally did that on purpose.
Predictions
I’ll stick with my Enta/Tooi prediction... not sure how it can happen at this point but this seems like the only way to resolve the triangle without leaving anyone out (Kazuki has his brother).  Unless Ikuhara leaves them as three but this might a step too far even for him.
We’re gonna see more Sara in the finale.  At least I hope so. We still don't know how she predicts the exact object that's also desired by the monster of the week each week, this is something I'd like to know!  And I hope we leave this whole “dark keppi” thing back at the drawing board where it belongs.
Chikai is gonna stay dead.  Reo and Mabu also.  The characters have to do some hard work on their feelings, they can’t keep relying on magical solutions.
Otters and Kappa are actually the same, or at least not so different.  We’ll get some kind of reunification between the factions.   If otters and kappa don’t reunite, then at least keppi and dark keppi will reunite.
I’d like to see keppi and Sara doing a dance number together, actually.
