Fan Season: Next Quest Reflections
Writing this fan season was a lot of fun, and I believe that this is my favourite fan season. I think the reason that this was so successful was because I could bring back favourite episodes.
I really like how I made Sharise hesitant to be a Mysticon at first. None of the Mysticons were in the show, except for Em in the alternate timeline (though since she was fine for most of it, I figure that Arkayna being turned to statue affected that) so it was cool to see what it would be like.
Some of the episodes were quite different than I originally planned. For example, Zarya's episode was initally going to be a filler episode about her trying to save the undercity from Cat Merchant, who was going to chase the undercity kids away to make a business there. However, after writing the outline, I realized that I didn't like the episode, and so I changed it to her ending up in her own village. I think it went well. Another episode that would have been different is Piper's. While it was originally going to be her being tricked by Tazma to change after an interview made it seem like the other Mysticons have to take care of "the kid Mysticon", I realized that the idea of wanting to change something was similar to Em's episode, and Piper had interesting backstory to delve into instead.
I did say that this would be based on what I think could happen if the series continued, but that's not 100% accurate. As I've mentioned in another blog post, I don't believe a fifth Mysticon was actually going to happen in the show. Because of this, if I stayed true to this being a continuation of the series, Sharise would not be in. I'd probably focus on Em and Piper, adding some rivalry between elves and dwarves that play a large role in the season. However, I didn't want to exclude Sharise from this, so I included her.
I'll take a week (until March 1st) where, while I'll respond to asks, I won't do any original posts. Fan seasons do take a lot of effort, so I'd like some time where I have less work for my blog.

The Miracles, Kwamis & Creation of The Miraculouses
Shortly after the fall of Ephedia and the Mysticons, a group of magic-users known as the "Miracles" who were highly attuned to the world of animals and the universe began working on a new method to give the world the heroes it desperately needed should yet another attack occur. With their knowledge of the universe, they worked to to create a communication link with the Kwamis, anthropomorphizations of universal concepts such as Creation, Destruction, Empowerment and such.
Originally formless, the Kwamis were simply beings who existed, flowing through the world itself. Though they could not speak with the material world, they were able to commune with the Miracles through their attunement to the world. And through this attunement and years of work, the Miracles were able to create jewelry and accessories that allowed Kwamis to not only manifest physically to interact, but also to inhabit them and bestow magnificent powers to the wearer. These items were called "Miraculouses" as their creation was heralded as a "miraculous and magnificent creation" in the Miracles' goals.
Because of the connection to animals that the Miracles held, Kwamis took the form of animal-like creatures, and therefore, the wearers would turn into animal-themed heroes and be given abilities themed after their animal. However, these powers were not infinite and Kwamis would eventually need rest, especially if they used their specific ability; they would only have 5 minutes after such a use before the Kwami would need rest and food to recharge back to full power. Kwamis are also susceptible to illness and if pushed too far, or worse, the Miraculous is damaged, the Kwamis will suffer greatly.
Through the use of potions and other magic, Kwamis would be able to gain new powers or additional powers to aid them in different situations e.g. underwater battles, battling in space etc. Kwamis were also able to "unify": the fusion of two or more Miraculouses and Kwamis to add even more power to the holder.
The First Sign of The Listeners
After The Watchers had taken down Ephedia, a new branch of creatures had come about. Calling themselves "The Listeners", these blind creatures had ears in every world, able to listen to anything and everything, however, they too were not without some limits, limits which the Miracles would take advantage of as best they could. As a rule, they swore to maintain secret identities as they knew that speaking of themselves could risk them being found out and killed, or worse, turned against their fellow heroes. They also enchanted the Kwamis with a spell that prevented them from speaking their holders' names.
In harrowing battles, the Miracles were able to beat back The Listeners and forced them to retreat, but the Miracles were now old and could no longer continue their duties. So, they set about searching for the next hero to take their place, passing down the Miraculouses and choosing those who were of noble heart and mind to fight evil. The knowledge of this all was compiled into the "Grimoire" which held all of the magic, the spells, the methods and more that the Miracles had charted down in relation to the Miraculouses and the Kwamis. The Miraculouses themselves were stored in special boxes called "Miracle Boxes" to keep them safe and would be passed down for generations through hundreds of different hands from different places. Miraculouses slowly oved away from being inherited to being gifted by the Box Holder, leading to all sorts of strange teams of strange creatures, but all defined by their heroism.

The Frederator Interview Dodeckamechapost
Tumblr media
Hello all!
In a year and 3 months at Frederator Studios, I’ve had an amazing opportunity: to speak with many successful people in animation about their love for their craft, their motivation getting into it, and the moves that made their careers. 50 of these conversations have made it onto paper (one into a video!), and now, I bequeath them to you in this Master’s Collection! Da dun! From the start, I’ve composed these interviews with a particular reader in mind. That is any of you following who dreams of working in animation, and becoming a part of the shows that you love. If that is you, then I hope these conversations will be a resource for you. Everyone’s path is different - that’s an overwhelming trend in these! - but if you wish to become a cartoonist, there IS a path open for you.
This also marks my last post to the Frederator Studios Tumblr. I’ll miss you all, and Frederator! But my path is taking me on to the next opportunity. It has been a gift to share this cartoon joy with you. Thank you for it.
Without further ado: read, enjoy, and follow these amazing artists, writers, actors, animators, producers - creators! And if you are that dreamer I’ve kept in mind - take the advice you like, leave whatever you don’t, but no matter what, please: believe in yourself. And begin.
- Cooper Nelson

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 13-Quest For Power
Note: Last one! I hope you enjoy it
The Mysticons race to the Ruins, knowing that, with their powers being taken, it could be used to power up the machine. Em is unsure if they can defeat the Loyal Ones without their powers, but Piper says it should be fine. They get there just as the Loyal Ones are starting the machine. A fight ensues, but the Loyal Ones quickly overpower them and use the machine to summon the Spectral Hand, forcing the Mysticons to retreat.
They regroup at the palace to discuss their next plan. Gawayne makes a remark about how of course the Mysticons lost, as one of them wasn't even really a Mysticon, looking at Sharise. Zarya stands up for Sharise, saying that while things were different with the OG Mysticon Alchemist, Sharise is a full Mysticon. This makes Sharise think about how she became a Mysticon after getting the Dragon Disk working again. This gives them the idea to make another Dragon Disk, leading Zarya to make a joke about the Dragon Disk is no longer one of a kind. Queen Goodfey says that she'll make Sharise's Lance of Justice.
As they go to get the ingredients for the Dragon Disk, they realize that it was a lot easier to do so witht their powers. Along the way, they talk about if what they're doing means anything, as the fact that the Spectral Hand is back proves that evil will still be in Gemina, and they may never rid the realm from great threats. Arkayna points out how no matter what happens, they are Mysticons, and that they are helping the realm. This leads them to share positive things that they've done for the realm, like saving the Dragons of Light and defeating Necrafa. Meanwhile, Proxima calls Aunt Yaga and Nova Terron for help.
Once they make the Dragon Disk, they touch it, and realize that it didn't work. Arkayna theorizes that it won't give them their powers twice in a row, as there was never a time where they lost their powers, and got them back. When Piper mentions going through time, they realize that a Dragon Disk in the past might help. Proxima, who was helping them, promises to get people to help defend Gemina from the Spectral Hand as they go on their quest. Aunt Yaga gives them the power to go to different time periods.
First, they go to the time where Arkayna, Zarya, Piper, and Em first became Mysticons, and plan to get their powers back then. After some careful planning, they do manage to get the Dragon Disk, but Em points out how Sharise might not get her powers, as the original Dragon Disk had the Alchemists' powers sealed away. Sharise says that they will be fine without her, but the other Mysticons insist that they will all get their powers. They go to right after the first knockoff Dragon Disk was made, and get their powers through there. It works.
Meanwhile, while Malvaron is defending the city against the Loyal Ones, he comes across Tazma. A fight ensues between the two of them, and Malvaron tells Tazma that she could habe been so much more than just a servant to evil beings, but she choose to distance herself from others. Tazma, not wanting to reveal how much Malvaron's words hurt her, says that even though all this, Malvaron never gave up n her, proving that she's not alone. Malvaron says that, after breaking into the stronghold and cursing Arkayna, he does hate her, and realizes that Tazma will only ever be evil. Tazma is defeated, and is thinking about what Malvaron said.
The Mysticons go back to their time, and Sharise grabs her Lance of Justice before they leave to confront the Spectral Hand. Tazma ended up nearby, and sees how the Mysticons look out for each other. She then sees the Vexicons barely working together and Kasha talking abut how she deserved the mask more than Mallory, and realize that she did miss out on having people who care about her. The Vexicons are about to stop the Mysticons, but Tazma holds them off long enough for the Mysticons to finish their spell. The Spectral Hand is defeated and Eartha goes back to normal, proving that whatevever was used to brainwash her was connected to the Spectral Hand. The Mysticons never notice Tazma there, or what she has done. However, Choko does, but doesn't tell the others.
There is a party at the Stronghold to celebrate, where Eartha mentions going to the Academy to be with Proxima, like she originally planned. The Mysticons are talking, and think that it's time that they look for a new stronghold, where none of the villains know. Meanwhile, Tazma sees the party, including Malvaron. She wants to apoligize, but feels as though Malvaron wouldn't accept her apology. Choko sees Tazma leaving and watches her before Halite and Ferris, who were invivted to the pary, pick him up and start playing with him.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 11- A Dangerous Plan
The Mysticons and Astromancers are talking about the machine the Loyal Ones were making. While the Mysticons destroyed the crystal and the Astromancers made sure any remaining remenants of the Crystal was safe, Gandobi brings up the possibility of the Loyal Ones finding another power source. Zarya wants to find a way to stop anything from going into or out of the Astromancer Academy by seeing if there are any clues at the ruins, but Proxima says that it's too dangerous. She points out that not only is the island full of enemies, but also that the Ruins are connected to the Spectral Hand, which could slowly influence them, so they should only go there if needed. Proxima and the Mysticons argue about the issue, and the Mysticons leave.
As all the Mysticons agree that they have to stop the Spectral Hand from coming back at all costs, they decide to take action. They look through any books they have at the Stronghold, and Arkayna eventually finds a spell that will make it so nothing can open a portal to where the Spectral Hand is imprissoned. However, it takes time after casting for the spell to fully take effect, and in order to cast the spell, people have to do it on either side of the doorway, forcing some of them to go into the Spectral Hand dimension. Em is unsure, but when Sharise reads that it is possible to pass through the portal while the spell hasn't fully taken effect yet, they decide to go for it.
They get to the island and, after fending off some creatures, talk about how to split the teams up. Arkayna thinks that they should put more people in the Spectral Hand dimension than outside the ruins, as they're less familiar with the threats in the Spectral Hand dimension. Piper says that Zarya should stay outside the ruins so she can use her arrow to help make a rope to make it easier to get out of the ruins, and Zarya points out how Piper and Em are the least likely to be influenced by the Spectral Hand, so they should go into the dimension. As Sharise could stick her glaive in the ground to help anchor the arrow, Sharise stays outside of the ruins, and Arkayna goes into the Spectral Hand dimension.
Meanwhile, Proxima goes to the Stronghold to apologize for the argument. Malvaron says that he hasn't seen the Mysticons for a little bit, and they realize where the Mysticons went. As they both worry about the danger the Mysticons are in, they decide to go.
The Mysticons open a hole for Em, Piper, and Arkayna to enter the Spectral Dimension. They are about to cast the spell, but Zarya and Sharise are attacked by Crab-like creatures. Em, Piper, and Arkayna are also distracted by hexbeasts attacking. The fighting is difficult for Em, Piper, and Arkayna, as they begin to argue with each other. After a bit of fighting, both groups manage to fend of their attackers, and Arkayna calls out to Zarya and Sharise, making sure that they're ready to cast the spell. Sharise reminds them that they have to leave quickly, as there is limited time to get out of there before the sealing spell gets too powerful.
The Sealing spell is cast, and Zarya uses her arrow to make a rope for Em, Piper, and Arkayna to come. Arkayna insists on going first, Em puts on her mech suit and goes second, and Piper goes last. As they climb the rope, they feel a strong force pushing them back, and realize that it is difficult. Arkayna and Em manage to get out, but don't pay attention to Piper losing her grip and falling. Zarya's rope from her arrow breaks.
Arkayna and Em realize what happened, and all the Mysticons are worried about Piper. Zarya tries to get a new rope ready for Piper to climb, but the sealing spell is getting stronger, and it doesn't allow Zarya's arrow to go through. Proxima and Malvaron comes, and Em tearfully explains what happened. Proxima and Malvaron do a spell to undo the sealing one, as it may not be completely set yet, and while it is difficult, the spell eventually breaks. Zarya uses her arrow to help Piper get out, and they all hug.
They return to the Astromancer Academy, where Proxima scolds the Mysticons for the risk. She says that, while stopping the Spectral Hand is important, it's not worth risking their safety or friendship. The Mysticons agree, saying that they realize how bad their plan was, and Arkayna apoligizes to Piper, saying that she can't believe that they weren't worried about her falling. Piper says she understands, as the Spectral Dimension did mess with their heads.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 10-Overpowered
The Mysticons are fighting a group of Loyal Ones, who are trying to get a crystal that increases any magic. Em uses her shield to protect her and Arkayna against an attack, but the shield breaks, and another attack sends them flying off the edge of a cliff. While Em uses her sword to stop her fall by pushing it into the cliffside, she is unable to catch Arkayna. Zarya manages to use her bow and arrow to save them, but the distraction proves enough for the Loyal Ones to escape. As the Mysticons are about to leave, Em sees a piece of the crystal that the Loyal Ones didn't get, and grabs it. Em apoligizes for not being able to keep her shield long enough, but the others say that it's OK, and that they'll find a way to stop whatever they're building.
That night, Em is doing research. She is thinking about what has happened. This leads her to remember other times she made mistakes as a Mysticon, such as letting Zarya get hit by the life-drain spell, and decides that she has to be better. She uses the crystal to make something that will strengthen her Mysticon magic. The device is shaped like a wristband. Em is about to test it, but as she was working late on her invention, she fell asleep.
The next day, the Mysticons wonder if the Loyal Ones are trying to revive the Spectral Hand. As they believe that whatever is powering the crystal will work best at the ruins, they decide to go. As they are about to leave, Sharise notices the wristband on Em's arm and asks about it. Em reveals that she made something that will make her magic stronger. While Piper asks for one, Arkayna asks Em if she tested it. Em lies, saying she did.
The Mysticons are looking for any signs of a machine, but don't see any near the ruins. Piper notices an old shack, and they go. They are attacked by the same crab creatures Captain Kaos used, and the Mysticons wonder if that means the Loyal Ones are starting to figure out how to get creatures from the Spectral Dimension. A fight ensues, and after the fight, Em is more tired than usual. The others worry about her, but Em says she's fine. Zarya suggests that it could be her invention, but Em says she tested it.
They go into the ruins, where they see a large machine. The crystal won't budge, and Em reveals that the crystal forms a protective shield when it's hooked onto devices. She stumbles, and Arkayna steadies her. Sharise tells Em to be honest with them, and Em reveals that her invention is powered by the same crystal, and that she has been feeling weaker ever since she put it on, even before she transformed for the mission. Zarya brings up how Em said she tested it, but Em sheepishly admits that she was going to test it, but fell asleep. Arkayna says that they'll deal with the Loyal Ones later, and that they have to get to the Astromancers to help Em.
The Mysticons go to Proxima for help, explaining what happened. Proxima says that the crystal is perfectly safe when purely operating machines, but becomes dangerous when used to amplify magic in people. She says that there is something that can remove Em's invention, but as it recently broke during a lesson about maintaining magical equiptment, it will take an hour to fix, and that the crystal will be unuable afterowords. As they wait, Arkayna asks Em why she was so worried about not being strong enough. Em points out all her mistakes, and Zarya points out how all of them made mistakes. Piper adds that they always get through messes together, and Sharise says that Em forgives everyone else when they mess up, so she shouldn't be hard on herself. Arkayna hugs her, and says that she would never expect her to do something dangerous just to be a better Mysticon, as her health is more important.
The device is fixed, and Proxima is about to use it for Em. However, Em recognizes it, and says that it can remove the crystal from other things, such as the Loyal Ones' invention. Em says that they should take it with them to remove the crystal from the Loyal One's machine, but Arkayna protests, saying that Em is more important. Em points out how dangerous the Spectral Hand is, and that they'll have the machine with them, so if the crystal is draining Em too much, they can use it on her right away. The others reluctantly agree, but Sharise says that, if they're doing that, then if they split up, Em and one other person must have the machine, so it can be used right away.
They get to the hideout, and a fight ensues. Em finds herself weakening during the fight, but tries to hide it, as she doesn't want the others to worry. It eventually gets to be too hard on her, and as Piper is using the device to get the Crystal out of the machine, Em reverts back to her Mysticon form, worrying her. While the device to remove the crystal did it's job on the machine by the time Piper sees, she tries to get to Em right away. However, the Loyal Ones stall her, and Em eventually faints due to the strain. The Mysticons defeat the Loyal Ones, and use the device to save Em. When Em wakes up, everyone hugs her, and Em apolgizes for using the crystal. Zarya makes Em promise never to sacrifice her own well-being for power again, and Em agrees.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 9- Found You
Piper gets a letter from someone named Cagim Elvanestri, who claims to be Piper's grandfather. He asks Piper to meet at his house, and gives the location of a place outside of Drake City. While the letter seems suspicous to the other Mysticons, especially since Sharise points out that it seems like a private home, Piper wants to go. Zarya snaps, saying she won't allow it, and Piper claims that the others don't understand what it's like to not have family. Piper storms to her room, and while Zarya and Arkayna want to talk to her, Em suggests that they let Piper calm down alone.
Piper sneaks to the meeting place alone, and sees a small shack with a note on the door saying to just come in. While Piper is nervous, she goes into the shack anyway. The doors and windows suddenly close, and Tazma taunts her, saying how foolish it was to go alone. She says something about Piper not being alone, then uses her magic to allow her to get through the door before it is sealed again.
Piper hears footsteps from another room in the shack, and investigates. She finds an elderly elven male, who is surprised to see Pipe, and introudces himself as Cagim Elvanestri. Piper is surprised, and asks about the letter. Cagim admits that she never did write a letter to Piper, but admits that he keeps a journal, and ws talking about her in there, so the captors may have learned about Piper through there. Piper asks what they guy wants with them, and Cagim says it may have something to do with a group Piper's father was involved in, called the Loyal Ones. He explains that he was looking into the group, and attracted enemies from there. Piper says that it might be her fault they're in this mess, as being a Mysticon may have led Tazma to find out who her family was to use it against her. Cagim says that no matter what caused them to be targets, they'll get out of this together.
Meanwhile, when Arkayna goes to check on Piper, she notices that Piper is gone and tells the others. They realize that Piper went off to the meeting place alone, and they decide to go. Along the way, Zarya says that she can't believe Piper went alone when she told her not to. Sharise points out that Piper is resourceful, and Zarya isn't Piper's mom, so maybe the final choice of whether or not to meet Cagim should have been Piper's anyway. Em, thinking about it, agrees, and says that maybe they should have supported Piper.
Back at the shack, Piper uses some of the skills she learned in the Undercity to break the lock. As they are wandering through the by the shack, Piper asks Cagim more about her parents, revealing that the circus Ringleader saw great promise in Piper and offered to train her, and her parents agreed. Cagim frowns, saying that it makes no sensse for them to do that, as they were part of the Loyal Ones at the time, and likely would have wanted Piper to be one as well.
As they continue looking for a way to get to Drake City, so Cagaim can get Piper home, Piper's parents come, dressed in Loyal One uniforms. Cagim confronts the parents, asking why they would leave Piper with the circus. Piper's mom, Vera, claims that the Loyal One's leader knew that Piper would be trouble for the group, so he told them to get her away from the group. A fight ensues, and more Loyal One members come. Piper's dad, Dariak, says that he'll let Cagim go free if Piper goes with them willingly. Piper agrees, and while Cagim objects, Loyal One members stop Cagim from following, as Piper goes with Vera and Dariak.
Cagim runs off in search of help, and sees the other Mysticons. He tells them what happened, and the other Mysticons catch up to Piper and her parents. After a short fight, Piper is saved.
When they get a safe distance away from the shack, Piper apoligizes to the Mysticons for running off, and Zarya says that they should have been there for Piper. Arkayna asks Cagim where he needs to go, and Cagim admits that he was on his way to Drake City anyway, as he wanted to reunite with Piper. Meanwhile, Vera and Dariak tell Jiron what happened, and Jiron makes a comment about Piper getting away again, just like she did four years ago. Dariak asks what Jiron meant, and it is reavealed that he used a spell to creatre bone-like structures around the circus' van, causing it to crash. Dariak and Vera look at each other.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 6-A Vexing Return
The Mysticons are hanging out with Proxima, who reveals that Eartha was planning on moving to the Astromancer Academy. While Proxima is looking forward to it, as the Vexicons were partly created out of a desire for family, so she liked having one live near her now, but wished that the others would have turned good as well. Piper tells Proxima not to lose hope, as maybe they'll change. Just then, Queen Goodfey calls the Mysticons to the palace, as someone broke the Vexicons out of the dungeon.
They hurry to the palace, and Queen Goodfey shows them the security footage. Sharise notices that whoever freed them used a key, suggesting that they're close to the palace, but Zarya points out it could be a duplicate and is about to bring up the one she and Piper used, but says she simply heard of them, not wanting to talk about her cons in front of her mom. Gawayne is there to, and says that there are bigger problems than the Vexicons, like the fact that his butler quit.
Worried about the Vexicons trying to get revenge on Eartha, they go to Rudick's Hollow. Citrine and Malachite greet them, but are clearly worried. Malachite reveals that just as Eartha was about to board the train to Drake City, the Vexicons came and captured her. Em promises that they will find her, and Piper adds that Proxima was looking forward to reuniting with Eartha, and that they won't let the Vexicons spoil that.
The Mysticons split up, looking for any signs indicating where the Vexicons would take Eartha. Just then, Arkayna gets a call from Proxima. She sounds frantic, and says that Eartha is with the Vexicons, and they are attacking the Academy. Arkayna promises that they will go there, and they all regroup and head to the Astromancer Academy as quickly as they can.
Once they get to the Astromancer Academy, they see Gawayne's former butler, Jiron, at the entrance. This confuses the Mysticons, but Sharise guesses that maybe Proxima hired him after hearing how poorly Gawayne treated him. However, as they get closer, they notice that Jiron is wearing a pin that has the Spectral Hand Symbol. Jiron starts fighting the Mysticons, saying that the Spectral Hand will take its rightful place, with people fearing the wrath of the hand if they don't follow its rules. While Jiron is quickly defeated, the Mysticons realize that Jiron was likely a distraction.
They search for Proxima, and hear her banging against a door. She says that Mallory cast a spell on the room, and the walls are sifting and slowly closing in. Zarya remarks how tough the locks in the Astromancer Academy are to break, but manages to get the door open just in time. Arkayna hugs Proxima, and Proxima quickly hugs back before saying how they have to stop the Vexicons.
Proxima leads them to one room, where the Vexicons are just finishing a ritual, and a new Vexicons appears. The new Vexicon is a robot who introduces herself as SAH. A fight ensues, and during the fight, Proxima notices that Eartha is quiet, and is acting almost as though she has no personality of her own. Just as the Mysticons are about to capture the Vexicons again, Willa transports the Vexicons away. Proxima points out how Eartha has been acting and says that she thinks that Eartha has been brainwashed. The others agree, and Arkayna promises that they will get her back.
That night, Em goes to the Astromancer Academy an asks Proxima how she's doing, as she knows the day's events must have been hard on her. Proxima admits that it is, but she's not going to lose hope that Eartha will come back. However, she wonders if the other Vexicons are too evil to be redeemed. Em says that seeing Eartha turn good despite having an evil heart shows that it's possible that the Vexicons can change. Proxima asks if Em's OK, as she heard how Em was the one who initally wanted to turn Eartha good, and they do have a bond. Em admits that it's hard, and says that she doesn't know how she'd fight against the golem, especially knowing that Eartha isn't acting on her own free will. Proxima and Em just sit in silence for a bit, processing everything.

Mysticons Next Quest Episode 5-The Evil Mysticon
The Mysticons are in the stronghold, with Sharise trying out a new recipie she found online, and the others liking it. Just then, the Dragon Disk activates, revealing a riddle, and Arkayna guesses it's the riddle that will show them how to get Sharise's piece of the codex. It involves going to the past to where an "old Mysticon" met darkness, and Em guesses that it means going to the time of the original Mysticons. Malvaron says that he would love to help, but only knows the hindsight spell, which wouldn't let them interact with the environment. They realize that means they wouldn't be able to grab the Codex, and they decide to ask Proxima if she knows anything that might help.
They go to Proxima, and she has a device that will allow them to go to the past. However, the device is old, and the charger is a new invention. She warns them that they will only have four hours before the device runs out of battery, and since they can't charge it in the past, they will be stuck there. Piper promises that they'll be back in time, and they transform and go.
Despite how differences between the Drake City they knew and the one in the past, the Mysticons manage to find their way to the Astromancer Academy. There, they get the attention of Alpha Galaga, who is suspicious of Sharise. When Arkayna explains why they're there, he summons the OG Mysticons. The OG Mysticons are also suspicious of Sharise, and the OG Ranger warns the Mysticons that Sharise will betray them, just like their Mysticon Alchemist, Larik Ishran, did. Sharise claims that something must have made Larik evil, but before they can continue the conversation, there is trouble in the market. The Mysticons agree to help their OG counterparts.
They go, and sees a male half-elf attacking the market. Imani reveals that the half-elf is Larik, and a fight ensues. Larik tells the Mysticons that the Spectral Hand wil grant power to all its followers, and when he notices Sharise, tells her to join him. Sharise is too stunned to speak, and a fight ensues. Larik is defeated, but leaves instead of being caught. Sharise, unable to believe that her counterpart is evil, runs off, saying she'll meet them back at the market in an hour. Zarya asks her about the bracer, and Sharise says she doesn't care about it anymore. Em tries to remind Sharise about the time limit, but the OG Knight stops her, saying that them losing their Mysticon Alchemist is for the best, and suggests they leave now. While the Mysticons reject this, Sharise is gone.
While the Mysticons are looking for Sharise, Piper mentions how hard it must be for Sharise to learn what has happened, especially since she was just getting comfortable with the group. When they return to the market after an hour to meet up with Sharise and notice that she's not there, they begin to worry. While they only have a bit over an hour to get back, they all agree that they won't leave without Sharise.
Meanwhile, Sharise is heading to the market to meet up with the others when the OG Mysticons surround her. The OG Striker says that they know Sharise would betray the Mysticons one day, just like Larik did to them. Sharise denies it, and the OG Ranger points out how she's doesn't seem that close to the other Mysticons. Imani says that she should have known that modifying the Dragon Disk to prevent a new Alchemist from being chosen wouln't work, but claims that they can deal with it now. A fight ensues, and Sharise is about to lose, but the other Mysticons save her. They point out that Sharise is not Larik, and they trust her. The OG Kight says tha they trusted Larik, but that didn't work well. Arkayna notices that Imani is nervous around Choko, and picks up Choko while pointing out that she doesn't have a fear of foz. Em claims it proves that the two sets of Mysticons aren't exactly the same, so Larik's actions may not be what Sharise would do. Before the OG Mysticons can say anything else, they learn of shadow creatures left behind by Larik's attack.
The Mysticons go, and when Sharise pushes the OG Striker out of the way of a blast, the OG Mysticons realize that they shouldn't have judged Sharise. All the Shadow Creatures are defeated, and after learning more about the prophecy, the OG Mysticons leads the Mysticons to where Larik betrays them. Sharise finds where her piece of the Codex would be, and gets it. Larik reveals himself, and Sharise uses her bracer. With Larik defeated, the Mysticons head home just in time.
Back at the Astrmancer Academy, Sharise thanks the others for standing up for her. The others reassure Sharise that she's more than just Mysticon Alchemist: she's their friend.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 4- Not Again
Queen Goodfey calls the Mysticons to the throne room. She tells the girls about a cave where people mysterious dissapeared, including some guards she previously sent to investigate the cave. She asks them to investigate, but warns them to be careful, as they don't know what's going on. Arkayna says that they'll be fine, as they faced the Spectral Hand, so a weird cave should be no problem for them. Zarya agrees, and the Mysticons head out. Queen Goodfey watches, a worried expression on her face.
On the way to the caves, they talk about what could be causing the people to dissapear. Em suggests that maybe there ara cave-ins inside the cave, but the cave entrance is still open, so no one knows. Sharise points out how that is a lot of bad luck, as Queen Goodfey said no one left the cave, so in order for that to happen, the cave-ins would have to block everyone once they come in without blocking off the entrance, which is unlikely. Piper suggests that the cave might contain a portal to another world, which Zarya admits is possible.
They get to the cave, which shows no signs of it about to cave in. They begin walking inside the cave until they eventually see statues. Sharise takes a closer look, and notices that the statues are made of bone. Arkayna recognizes one statue as a guard who was particularly kind to her, and remarks that this was probably his last mission before retirement. Em asks if Arkayna is OK, and while Arkayna says she's fine, it's clear that she's lying.
As they go through the cave, they debate on what to do. Sharise thinks that they should figure out what's turning everyone into statues, but Arkayna wants to save them as quickly as possible. They all agree to save the people first, seeing how much it's affecting Arkayna. As they figure it's possible the same thing that turned the King and Queen to bone is also turning everyone else to bone, they decide to grab what they need to reverse it, using the spell they tried to use back at the Crystal Archipelego (in "All Hail Necrafa"). However, they realize that they are lost in the cave.
While looking for a way out, they come across a strange creature. It attacks, and Arkayna notices it's trying to get them to look at it right in the eye, and wonders if that's how people are turned into stone. She warns the others to avoid looking in its eyes, but Zarya accidently does so during the fight. They manage to get away, but notice that Zarya's arm is turned to solid bone. As most of her body is OK, Zarya guesses that she didn't look long enough to completely turn into a statue. Still, they decide that they have to figure out a way to reverse it quickly. Arkayna tells Zarya to let them know if anything strange is happening to her, and keeps an eye on her sister in case the bone starts to spread.
They find a portal that was blocked off, and they wonder if the creature came from whatever dimension the portal leads to. Zarya suggests that they send the creature back through the portal, as they know what's causing it, so they get rid of the creature, then undo the spell safely. Arkayna says that they need to get everyone back to normal right away, but Em points out that Zarya does have a point, and that it will be safer to undo the spell with the monster gone. They manage to get the portal working, and Piper offers to lure the creature back to where the portal is, but Arkayna snaps at her, saying that she would probably end up looking straight into the creature's eyes, turning into a statue. Everyone is surprised by this outburst, and Arkayna breaks down, crying. She apoigizes, and admits that ever since they realized what happened, she's been thinking about her parents being turned into statues. She also admits that she's been having bad dreams sometimes about the Mysticons turning into statues. The others reassure her that no matter what happens, they will face it together.
They continue the plan to lure the creature in, with Piper, Sharise, and Arkayna luring the creature in, while Em and Zarya get the machine ready. Piper almost looks the creature in the eye but looks away last second, avoiding being turned into a statue. Em and Zarya open the portal, and the creature flies in.
Once they return to Gemina, they quickly get what they need to restore Zarya to normal. Queen Goodfey is relieved that they all made it out, but makes Zarya promise to be more careful. Arkayna offers to go and undo the spell, but upon seeing that Arkayna is still shaken up, Em asks if there is anyone else who can, as the statues scared her. Queen Goodfey agrees, and King Darius offers to do it. The Mysticons go to leave, but Queen Goodfey asks if she can talk to Arkayna for a second. She tells Arkayna that it's OK if she's still struggling with them being turned to statues, and that she'll be ther if Arkayna ever needs to talk. Arkayna thanks her and leaves. Before he leaves, King Darius says that it's nice that Arkayna has good friends looking out for her and Queen Goodfey agrees, implying that they know Em asked about someone else saving the people in the cave to help Arkayna.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 3-Group Camp
Malvaron notices that, while the Mysticons are nice to Sharise, she still feels like an outsider. Doug suggests they all do something as a group just for fun, like a camping trip. Malvaron likes the idea, and brings it up to the Mysticons. While Arkayna isn't sure about sleeping outside, everyone else likes the idea, and Arkayna admits that it could be fun. Zarya suggests the Forest of Brynn, as she and Piper camp there, so they know the area.
They get to the camp, and begin telling scary stories. Piper tells a story about Petchi, small creatures that lure unsuspecting campers away, and swarm the camper, eating them alive. Sharise is surprised that Piper thought of that story despite her young age, and Piper admits that Zarya used horror stories as bedtime stories. Everyone looks at Zarya, who says that those were were favourite stories, and didn't know of any good kid ones that she still liked. Everyone laughs and set up tents. They have three tents, w ith Zarya and Arkayna in one, Em, Piper, and Sharise in a second tent, and Doug and Malvaron in the third tent.
That night, Doug hears a noise and leaves the tent to investigate. Zarya notices someone up and goes to check it out. Doug reveals that he heard a noise and wonders if the Petchi from Piper's story are actually real. Zarya says that it was just made up, and that it's likely some other campers. They both hear the noise nearby, and Zarya admits that, if it is the mushroom creatures, then they may be close enough to decide to attack their camp. Doug and Zarya decide to investigate. Choko follows Zarya.
Doug and Zarya soon find themselves facing a mysterious group of people, and they hide. Zarya recognizes them as the same group who attacked while they were setting things up to find the fifth Mysticon. They are about to leave in order to warn the others about what they found out, but Choko steps on a stick, alerting them to their presence. A chase ensues.
Meanwhile, Arkayna is waking everyone up, as Zarya left the camp, and as it's still dark out, it is dangerous to go wandering around. Malvaron notices that Doug is missing to, and they go to find Zarya and Doug. Em, noticing how scared everyone is, says that Doug and Zarya are likely together, and probably are fine. Sharise adds that, if Zarya and Piper went camping there before, it can't be overly dangerous.
As they are looking, they hear a noise as well. Piper rushes, thinking it's Zarya, and gets just out of sight of the group. Arkayna calls for Piper to come back, as Zarya and Doug wandering off is why they're looking for them in the first place, and Piper screams right after. The others rush, and sees Piper fighting against mushroom creatures. They do manage to work together to get away from the mushroom creatures, but Em suggests that they leave anyway, in case there are more creatures.
They continue the search, and eventually find Doug and Zarya fighting against the evil group. The leader says that they call themselves the Loyal Ones, and that they will bring back the Spectral Hand, and a fight ensues. The leader also labels the Mysticons as enemies, as not only did the Mysticons fight against the Spectral Hand, but they also freed the people the Spectral Hand captured for energy, and the Mysticons realize that's why the Pink Skulls and Moon Elves were thrown into the Spectral Hand's dimension. While the Mysticons manage to catch some of the group, most of them, including the leader, leave.
As the Mysticons, Doug, and Malvaron are packing up the camp, they talk about the group's plan to bring back the Spectral Hand. Malvaron reassures them that no matter what happens, they'll have each other and can figure it out. Meanwhile, at the palace balcony, a voice says that it's dissapointing on poorly and Loyal Ones did, and that maybe they need new recruits. While the character is obscured in shadows, the voice is the same as Gawayne's butler's.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 2- A Knockoff of a Knockoff
Sharise is reluctant to join the Mysticons, and even says that touching the disk was a mistake. Zarya tells her that they were looking for the fifth Mysticon for an important reason. They tell her about the Pink Skulls and Moon elves in danger. Sharise agrees to help for that mission, and then she will decide if she wants to stay with the Mysticons. Proxima reminds them that, while they know Sharise is a Mysticon, the machine only let the disk identify the Mysticon, and they still have to find a way to unlock the Mysticon's powers. They split up to do research, with Proxima going to the Astromancer library and the Mysticons looking through the books they have.
As the Mysticons are looking for a way to unlock the dragon disk, Piper suggests making a knockff Dragon Disk, like they did earlier. Arkayna points out how they did rip open a hole in the cosmoverse, proving how dangerous it can be. Zarya says it's worth it to save the Pink Skulls, and Em agrees. They all decide to make another knockoff Dragon Disk. They ask Doug if he still has items to make the Dragon Disk in his closet, but Doug admits he gave them away.
They quickly get a griffin for Sharise, who Sharise names "Flare", and they go to get the first ingredient, Lightning in A Bottle. As Sharise is still learning how to fly a griffin, she is having problems navigating Flare through the storm. The others help her, and Em reassures Sharise that most of them had to learn how to ride a griffin, and the only reason Arkayna didn't was that was part of her royal training.
As they continue to get the next two ingredients, they try to get to know Sharise better, and Sharise is slowly beginning to warm up to the others. Arkayna asks what kind of accent Sharise has, as she pronounces words differently than most people in Gemina, but she never heard that accent before. Sharise quickly says that she has an articulation disorder, so she has difficulty pronouncing certain sounds, then begins distancing herself from the others again. Arkayna tries to apoligize and Sharise says it's fine, but is fairly quiet while they finish getting everything.
They make the Dragon Disk with the ingredients, and go to the celestial forge to give it power. Proxima sees them and is about to stop them, as it's too dangerous. The Mysticons convince Proxima that it's the best plan they have, and Proxima reluctantly agrees. She does notice a hole in the cosmoverse starting to form, and helps the Mysticons avoid it, giving the Dragon Disk power, and Sharise becomes Mysticon Alchemist.
Not wanting to waste time, the Mysticons plan to go to the ruins right away. Proxima says that she will stay behind, as she is uncomfortable going somewhere that might have the Spectral Hand's influence. The others accept it, and they go. Before they leave, Proxima makes them promise to leave the dimension right after saving the Pink Skulls and Moon Elves. They agree, with Zarya adding that they don't want to make Sharise's first mission any harder than it needs to be.
They go to the ruins and do the ritual, and go into the ruins. They eventually find the Pink Skulls and Moon Elves, and after a fight with some strange creatures, save them and return to Gemina. The Mysticons decide to go to the Stronghold, with Piper excited to show Sharise around, even if she chooses not to stay.
At the Stronghold, Sharise goes with the other Mysticons and meets Doug and Malvaron. Arkayna tells Malvaron about Sharise being hesitant to stay, and Malvaron asks if she made a decision. Sharise hesitates for a moment before deciding to stay.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 1: Another Mysticon
It is very early in the morning, and Em gets a call from Kasey. He sounds scared, and tells her that the Pink Skulls and Moon Elves were on their way home when they were pulled into what looks like a different dimension. He mentions a red and black sky, but then the call cuts out. Em quickly wakes up the others and tells them what happened, and they go to Proxima for help.
They go to Proxima for help, and they do research. Proxima eventually guesses that the dimension may be the one that the Spectral Hand came from, but admits that it's very difficult to get in. They do eventually find an old prophecy of people going in, but it requires five Mysticons. This confuses the Mysticons, as there are only four of them. Proxima suggests that the others go to the ruins to see what they can find while she stays behind and does more research.
On their way to the ruins, they see an elven man looking at a nearby tablet, with two teenagers with him: an elf and a half-elf. The Mysticon introduces themselves, and the man introduces himself as Zaylor. He tells them that he was bringing her daughter, Adrie, there for inspiration for a university entrace essay, motioning to the teenage elf, and when Arkayna asks about the half-elf, he says that she's his neice, Sharise, who was travelling with them. Piper accidently reveals their mission, including the possibility of a fifth Mysticon.
Proxima calls the Mysticons back, and says that she did find some obscure information about the fifth Mysticon, and learned that he was half-elven, and theorizes that the new Mysticon is likely a half-elf as well. She also reveals that the Astromancers are working on a way that, while it won't give the fifth Mysticon their power, will reveal if the person touching it is the fifth Mysticon. She also reveals a ceremony that will be used to find the fifth Mysticon. Piper has a feeling about Sharise, and catches up to her, Adrie, and Zaylor, and tells them about the ceremony. Sharise intially is unsure, but Piper tells her that she should at least go to watch. Zaylor quickly leaves with Adrie and Sharise.
While preparing for the ceremony, the Mysticons can't stop thinking about a fifth Mysticon. Piper and Em are excited, though Em is a little nervous. Zarya is unsure, as she took a bit to get used to the group they have now. Arkayna says that it should be fine, though admits working with five people will take a bit to get used to. A strange group of people attack, but the Mysticons manage to fend them off. They decide to follow through with the ceremony, but make sure that there's extra security in case they come back.
Everything is ready, with the Dragon Disk hooked up to a device that will allow it to react if a Mysticon touches it, though it's unable to give the new Mysticon any powers. Many half-elves try, but are unable to get the disk to react. Piper sees Sharise in the crowd, and convinces her to try, as all the other half-elves did. Sharise reluctantly agrees, but before she can, Zaylor comes and steals the disk.
The Mysticons ask Sharise to help get the disk back, as she knows her uncle. Sharise mentions that her uncle has a friend who works at a pawn shop, and they hurry there. The Mysticons and Sharise arrive just as Zaylor is about to  sell the disk, and a small fight ensues when the pawn shop owner reveals himself to have magic powers. However, they are no match for the Mysticons, and they easily get their disk back. As the Mysticons and Sharise leave.
They get the Dragon Disk back on the machine, but notice that everyone's gone. Sharise agrees to try it, saying that she doesn't think it would activate anyway, but before they do, they see Adrie. The Mysticons are ready to defend the disk again, but Adrie promises she won't steal it. She looks at Sharise and says that while she'll miss her if Sharise is a Mysticon, she knows it would be best for Sharise. Sharise touches it and the disk lights up, proving that she is the fifth Mysticon.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 12-Help In A Dark Place
It is the middle of the night in the Stronghold, and everyone is asleep. Tazma and Jiron sneak in. While Jiron wants to curse Arkayna due to her being a membr of the royal family and being raised royal, unlike Zarya, Tazma says that it doesn't matter who they curse, but have to do it fast. They find Arkayna's room, and hear footsteps from a nearby room, and curse Em before leaving. Doug, who woke up to grab a glass of water, thinks he saw something. However, when he doesn't see anyone, he assumes he's still on edge from the horror game he played with Zarya, and goes back to his room.
The next day, everyone notices that Arkayna was cursed, and are worried about her. Doug mentions thinking he saw something or someone move, but thought it was his imagination. Piper mentions how Nova Terron had video evidence of them with the gumlumps in the stronghold, and guesses that the Astromancers may still have video of what happened. Arkayna says that it's possible Proxima got rid of the camera after becoming Starmistress, but realizes that, even if she doesn't have video evidence, she could help find a way to reverse this.
They barge into the Astromancer Academy, and ask if they have any video recordings of the Stronghold. Proxima is surprised by both the question and sudden entrance, and says that while she wasn't aware of any video recordings in the stronghold, she will check and disable it. Em explains what happened, and when Proxima checks, she does find that Nova Terron did have something recording the Mysticons. They look, and find Tazma and Jiron were the ones who cast the spell. Zarya decides to confront them, forcing them to undo the curse. Proxima tells them to be careful, and tries to convince Arkayna to stay behind due to the curse, but Arkayna insists on going. Proxima asks if Queen Goodfey knows, and Arkayna admits she doesn't want her mom to worry, and asks Proxima to keep it secret. When the Mysticons leave, Proxima contacts Queen Goodfey
They go to the shack on the island, and find Jiron and Tazma with a couple of Loyal Ones. Sharise demands the reversal spell, but Tazma says that they will only give it if the Mysticons give up their powers. A fight ensues, and Arkayna becomes dizzy due to the curse. This distracts the Mysticons long enough for Tazma and Jiron to escape. Before they leave, Tazma leaves a note, giving the Mysticons a place to meet up if they choose to carry through with the plan.
Malvaron calls them, and says that he found a reversal spell. They do need water and moss from Coral Keep though. The Mysticons don't know what to do, as there are very few places to land their dragons or griffins, and a rowboat would take too long. Em calls Kasey, and he says that the Pink Skulls are nearby, and are more than willing to help. He mentions that they have a ladder that they can put in the water, so they can park their Sky Ship wherever they need to without worrying about having a place to land.
The Mysticons and Pink Skulls go to Coral Keep, where they easily get the ingedients they need with Kelpie and Queen Truefin's help. However, on the way back, they end up being attacked by the Vexicons, and they realize Jiron must have sent them. They lose the potion ingredients, and as Arkayna's condition is quickly getting worse, they don't have time to get more. Arkayna initally tells them not to give up the powers, but they all insist on doing so, with Piper telling her that they'll find another way to stop the Spectral Hand, and Sharise reminding Arkayna about what Proxima said about the importance of looking out for each other. Arkayna reluctantly agrees.
They go to the meeting place, and see a potion. The Mysticons willingly give up their powers, but Jiron refuses to give the reversal spell, saying he wants revenge on the royal family. A fight ensues, and Arkayna makes a comment to Tazma about how she could have had something more special than just pure power, but turned her back on it. Tazma sees the other Mysticons looking out for Arkayna, and when Zarya catches Arkayna when she faints, Tazma thinks of Malvaron. She makes it seem like she accidently knocked the potion towards the Mysticons, giving them to leave with the potion. As soon as they're a safe distance away, they give the potion to Arkayna, and it works.
They go to the Academy, where Queen Goodfey, Doug, Malvaron, and the Astromancers, are waiting for them. She asks why none of them told her that Arkayna was cursed, and that Proxima had to. The Mysticons are about to come uip with an excuse, but Arkayna admits that she told them not to, but then says how she's glad Proxima did. Queen Goodfey says that she's relived Arkayna's fine now, though they will talk about it later. When the Mysticons tell the others what happened, they all agree that they will figure it out, and that the team is more important. Em pulls Malvaron to the side and tells him what Tazma did, but Malvaron believes that it was simply a mistake, and that the curse made him believe that Tazma will never change.

Mysticons: Next Quest Episode 8: Save The Dragons
Zarya is mageboarding in the Undercity when she sees something glowing from inside her bag. She looks, and sees that it's the crystal King Valmauk gave her for taking care of Stormy. Realizing that this could mean the Dragons of Light need help, Zarya gets the others.
They go to Dragon Hedge, and see that all of the dragons there are ill. King Valmauk says a mage came in and put a curse on the dragons, claiming that when the spectral hand comes, she wouldn't want the Dragons of Light to get in the way again. Arkayna promises to find a reversal spell, and Sharise adds that afterwords, they'll look for whoever did this. Luckily, as the Mysticons' dragons, including the one Sharise got, were at the palace stables at the time, they were not affected.
They go to the Library of the Eternal Equinox, thinking that they will find a spell or potion that will save the dragons. They learn of a potion that when mixed, will heal any magical ailments. However, there are quite a few ingredients. and while they have most of them (they keep some magical ingredients on hand just in case) they need water from a Achwood Swamp and sand from the Blowing Desert. They decide to split up, with Arkayna, Em, and Sharise getting the sand and Zarya and Piper getting the swamp water.
Zarya and PIper go to the swamp, and quickly get the water. However, they find themselves being pulled in by some mud, and they being to realize that the mud pit is deep enough to completely pull them in. Zarya tries to sink her arrow in a tree to make a rope, but the trees have extremely hard bark. Piper throws her hoop on a tree, and Zarya uses that. Together, they manage to get out of the mud.
Meanwhile, Arkayna, Em, and Sharise are at the Blowing Desert, and realize that it got it's name due to severe sandstorms. They quickly lose each other, but Arkayna uses her light from her staff to help the others find her and Em uses her energy shield to prevent the wind from blowing their vial of sand they collected down. They are still struggling to walk in the sand, and Sharise realizes that her powers to create grease can be used to push the sand on the ground away, creating a path for them.
They regroup and, after stopping at the stronghold to pick up the remaining ingredients, they head to Dragon Hedge. Just then, they are attacked by spectres. A fight ensues, and the Mysticons get rid of the spectres. Em recognizes the spectres as the ones Tazma uses, and assume that she's part of the Loyal Ones.
They get to Dragon Hedge and are about to mix the potion when Tazma comes. She claims that nothing will stop the Spectral Hand from coming back, and Piper taunts her for jumping from boss to boss. Tazma laughs, and claims that she's the head of the Loyal Ones, and will continue Necrafa's mission even though she's gone. A fight ensues, and Tazma escapes. They mix the potion, and the dragons are back to normal. King Valmauk thanks the Mysticons, and Stormy gently nuzzles all the Mysticons.
After they return to the Stronghold, the Mysticons tell Malvaron everything about Tazma. While Malvaron is saddened to hear that Tazma is so far into the path of darkness, Doug tells Malvaron not to lose hope, and she may become a good guy one day. Zarya doubts it, and Malvaron seems unsure.
