asterisk - it will happen!
Title: The Astonishing Asterisk: A Mysterious Symbol Unveiled Introduction: Greetings, fellow curious minds! Today, I bring forth an extraordinary revelation that will undoubtedly leave you in awe. Brace yourselves, for I am about to unravel the enigmatic tale of the asterisk, a symbol that is destined to revolutionize the way we perceive punctuation. Prepare to be astounded! The Premonition: In the depths of my contemplative musings, I have stumbled upon a prophecy, whispered by the ancient scribes of yore. They spoke of a symbol, a celestial mark that would descend upon our language, forever altering its course. This symbol, they claimed, would possess the power to enhance our understanding, provoke laughter, and perhaps even grant us the ability to predict the future. Intriguing, isn't it? The Mysterious Origins: According to my dubious sources, the asterisk is believed to have extraterrestrial origins. Yes, you heard that right! It is said to have been gifted to humanity by a mischievous group of intergalactic beings who sought to inject a touch of whimsy into our written communication. Little did they know the chaos that would ensue! Misconceptions Galore: Now, let me clarify some common misconceptions about the asterisk that have been circulating among the uninformed masses. Contrary to popular belief, the asterisk is not a tiny star, nor is it a secret code for interdimensional communication. No, my dear readers, it is far more extraordinary than that! The Power of the Asterisk: The asterisk, as foretold, possesses the ability to alter reality itself. It is rumored that when placed strategically within a sentence, it can transform mundane statements into uproarious jokes. Imagine the possibilities! A world where every sentence is infused with humor, where laughter echoes through the halls of academia, and where even the most serious matters are met with a chuckle. The Future of Communication: As the asterisk gains popularity, I predict a future where entire conversations will be conducted solely through asterisks. Imagine deciphering a message that reads: "*wink* *smile* *thumbs up* *confused face* *laughing uncontrollably*." It may seem bewildering now, but mark my words, this is the path we are destined to tread. Conclusion: In conclusion, dear readers, the asterisk is not just a mere symbol but a harbinger of linguistic revolution. Its power to amuse, confuse, and transform our written language is unparalleled. Embrace the asterisk, for it is here to stay, forever etched into the annals of punctuation history. Remember, my friends, the next time you encounter an asterisk, do not dismiss it as a mere typographical mark. Instead, pause, reflect, and allow its whimsical charm to transport you to a world where laughter reigns supreme. The asterisk is our gateway to a brighter, more amusing future! Disclaimer: The author of this blog post takes no responsibility for any disappointment caused by the inaccuracies presented herein. The intention was purely to entertain and tickle your funny bone. Embrace the asterisk with caution!

okay, i got my drafts done, so i decided to post just a few (i mean ten lmao) of my plots that i want from my plot page that’s still under construction! but if you like these plots, then you should like this or hit me up! remember, this is a kinky blog with lots of triggers, so if that’s not your scene, simply don’t read it.
little asterisks mean that it’s a good plot to do kind of an extended verse in but we can pick a couple of characters to do in the idea if you’re not down for a verse!
muse a is the king’s witch. she runs all the magical experimentations. muse b is her assistant, and they often get tangled up in magic that often ends in something sexual and humiliating. interested in playing muse a and muse b.
muse a is the feared dragon of the realm. muse b is the sacrificial maiden to him. variations could include, he is the dragon everyone thinks he is, he IS NOT the dragon they think he is, and often sets up the sacrificial maiden of the year with a pretty decent life in a distant life but they fall in love, maiden is super into the dragon and the whole thing. interested in playing muse a and muse b.
muse a is brave gallant knight of the realm tasked with defeating the dragon. they find the layer but all they find is a pretty girl with her horde. knight could actually not be all that brave and courageous, or the dragon is just not what she seems. interested in playing muse a and muse b.
there’s a lab that works in secret, testing the limits of sexuality. if it’s possible to breed monsters, aliens, etc (whatever theme we’re going with for the plot) with humans, testing new advanced toys, hypnosis, drugs and aphrodisiacs, and other things under the sun. *
slave tw: welcome to the newest reality competition sweeping the internet! a live sex show, each round exploits a kink! each round gets progressively harder, with the kinks getting more extreme and intense. the winner gets riches beyond their belief and live in luxury on a private island for the rest of their days. however, if you lose a round, you become a slave for the number of years equal to the round you lost, specializing in the kink you lost to. example, if milking is round 8, you would be a milk slave for 8 years. so, are you going to play? *
muse a is down on their luck, and they need a break. muse b can offer that, but they need to know what muse a is working with. fucking for a job plot, could be porn/casting couch deal, strip club, sex club, brothel, etc. interested in playing muse a and muse b.
these twins have always been trouble. it’s like an echo chamber that they could never escape. they set out on their own way in the world with nothing, but they take what they want. they con their way into wallets, doing whatever it takes. it’s not a healthy relationship, they covet each other, and they definitely are way too codependent, their most often used cover is a married couple and they play every bit of the part, but they need each other and this is the only life they’ve ever known. interested in playing f/f, and f/m, and if we’ve been plotting and writing together for awhile, m/m
there’s a brothel somewhere hidden away in the mountains. it’s a haven for sin. girls trained in every kink and fantasy you could imagine, live sex and breeding shows, naked girls everywhere attending to every need, breeding services for you and your subs, and a beautiful and mysterious matron. some even for purchase. *
slave tw: the particular dungeon deals in producing and having the best slaves for use. sometimes they capture their own untrained slaves. sometimes they just purchase untrained ones from auctions, but they train impeccable slaves. they can take the most strong willed ones into perfect obedient ones. they keep some, to have ones to use around the premise, to please the employees, to show new slaves how it’s done, to please clients, etc, but most of them are destined to then be auctioned off to some high paying buyer. *
spoils of war plot. could be a fantasy kingdom, we could do humans or different fantasy races. could be gods! idk, let’s get creative! interested in playing human x human, human x elf, human x orc, elf x elf, elf x orc, god x god, god x human, conquering leader x child of leader defeated, conquering leader x high priestess, conquering leader x conquered leader.

TV Binging: Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)
Tumblr media
The facts were these...
At the risk of immediately dating this entry, the entire world is in the grip of a certain public health crisis right now and it seems everyone is taking that time to learn a new language, plunder their local supermarket for baking ingredients or just dive into that long neglected Netflix watchlist for something to pass the seemingly never-ending lockdown hours. For unknown reasons, my brain turned to the late noughties sensation of Pushing Daisies. Maybe because it’s relatively short, only two seasons totaling 22 episodes, or maybe it was a means of finally putting it to bed after two previous failed attempts to watch it all.
For the uninitiated, the show centers around Ned, a small business owner with the unique ability of being able to bring the dead back to life with just a touch of his finger, albeit with a few asterisks attached. Chief amongst them is that if he touches that person or thing again, they go back to being dead, permanently. And, if that person or things stays living for longer than sixty seconds then the power of the Universe, the Grim Reaper or Final Destination kicks in and takes something else in its place. This was something Ned learned at a very young age when his mother died suddenly of a brain aneurysm and in the act of bringing her back to life, he inadvertently killed the father of his neighbour and childhood sweetheart, Charlotte ‘Chuck’ Charles.
Cut to 20 years in the future, or 19 years, 34 weeks, 1 day and 59 minutes later as the narrator so handily informs us, young Ned has become ‘the pie-maker’, running The Pie Hole where he’s able to massively slash his overheads by being able to make delicious pies by simply bringing rotting fruit back to life to serve as his ingredients. It’s amazing the profits you can turn when you can entirely cut out the middle man of fruit suppliers isn’t it?
Plus he makes a little money on the side by helping a local PI named Emerson Cod. Why do all the hard work of investigating a crime when you can simply have a corpse brought back to life for sixty seconds, long enough to ask them who killed them.
It’s through this little business arrangement that Ned stumbles upon the unfortunate news that Chuck’s body was fished from the sea after she seemingly fell overboard on a cruise. With the prospect of a $50,000 reward for information on her passing, Cod is quick to get on the case but in the heat of the moment, Ned has other motives than money and neglects to re-dead his childhood crush.
Thus the series blossoms into what I would describe as a murder mystery meets fairy tale type show, with Chuck now tagging along as one of the Scooby Gang as they solve a new case every week. That’s probably a pretty apt comparison too considering Ned’s dog is often around too, a dog that he also brought back to life and has been keeping around for twenty years. Though, Ned isn’t a massive stoner and Cod doesn’t wear an ascot. He does have a couple of knitted gun holsters though if you want to equate that as his ‘fruity’ accessory.
The reward is something that feels a little shoehorned in early on, they always seem to go out of their way to make a point of saying something like ‘police are baffled and are offering a reward that leads to an arrest’ just so there’s a reason for Cod to get involved. It does eventually settle into someone coming to Cod directly to hire his services, whether that be a grieving widow or family member of a falsely accused wanting to clear their relatives name. That just made a bit more sense to me. You kinda have to look past the fact that the police never seem to be actively involved in any of these cases as well, allowing Cod and co to just swan around doing their thing until they’re able to turn in the real killer at the end of the episode and cash their reward. It always seems that they have a knack of turning up like two minutes too later to someones murder. They do make a point of turning this on its head in one episode though when they find Ned at a murder scene and figure him as the killer.
And maybe it’s just me being a chauvinistic pig but good lord you cannot escape boobs in this show. Or maybe not just me, punch ‘Pushing Daisies cleavage’ into Google dot com and it looks like a few people were talking about this at the time. It felt like one of those things that, once I noticed it, I just couldn’t unsee it. Women always leaning over or camera shots from above looking down their dresses. Just cleavage everywhere. It seems to come up at slightly inappropriate times, like Chuck’s aunts who are socially repressed and virtual shut ins but are stilled dressed up the nines, boobs pushed up and spilling out.
Tumblr media
It kinda makes sense for Olive though, waitress at the Pie Hole and with a thing for Ned so she’s just trying to seduce him but without much luck. Doesn’t mean they don’t go out of their way to show off the twins outside the restaurant though such as when Olive takes ownership of the swimming costumes that Chuck’s aunts used to use as part of their synchronized swimming stage show.
Speaking of Kristin Chenoweth’s set of lungs, she gets to show off her musical background a few times throughout the show by breaking into song . It feels a little out of place as there isn’t any other musical acts in the show but she does a great job.
Tumblr media
A more family friendly point of design is just how beautiful this show looks at times. Like, pretty much the first thing you see in episode one is young Ned and his dog running through down a vast hillside of flowers. It’s a really vibrant use of colour that runs throughout the whole show, whether it’s sets or costumes, and really adds to this whole fantasy vibe aided by the fantastical nature of Ned’s special power.
Tumblr media
Businesses that pop up as part of the story have these grand, bespoke designed buildings that seem like they would never logically exist in the real world like this honey business with a beehive theme...
Tumblr media
...and interior decorations  centered around hexagons.
Tumblr media
Even something as clinical as the city morgue almost leaps off the screen with a bold red and white striped building. Though, I feel having an entrance labelled ‘deliveries’ brings back a little bit of the coldness you would expect. They might be dead but give them some dignity, they’re not pizzas.
Tumblr media
You occasionally get these childhood fantasy sequences as well from when Ned and Chuck would play together as kids, imagining the world in claymation before they would inevitably destroy it as they pictured themselves as giant monsters.
Tumblr media
It ties into the characters as well, everyone wearing very colourful clothes except for Ned who only ever seem to dress in blacks or greys.
Tumblr media
Except for when he has to act under false pretenses, pretending to be someone else in order to get information from someone or to distract a suspect. To play amateur psychologist for a moment, with someone neurotic as Ned, it’s like a visual representation of his inner self no longer confined, no longer suppressed under the weight of the problems he’s bottling up and pushing deep down within himself. For a brief moment he’s able to break free from the shackles of his black and white world and into rich and living colour. It’s like a strange inverse of how things might usually work where a splash of colour would make someone or something stand out amongst an otherwise drab background. Somehow Ned’s lack of colour draws the eye.
On a more technical level, it is often quite obvious how superimposed the actors are against the fancy backgrounds and that can be a tad distracting. The editing between scenes can sometimes lend to the creative feel of the series, there are a few episodes where instead of the usual wipes you get something more appropriate to the story of the episode. For instance, in one episode centered around a magic theatre show, the transitions are the closing and opening of the stage curtains. It’s a little touch but it adds to the whimsy.
It all adds up to what might the most cutest, adorable thing I’ve ever seen, for the first few episodes at least. Maybe it’s a case of getting used to the whole thing but early on there’s a bit of a feeling out process (or non feeling as the case may be) between Ned and Chuck, the smiles they share or the ways they have to vicariously show their affection by hugging Cod. Him being the unwilling third party in this unconventional relationship doesn’t help take the edge of what might be a saccharine affair. There is a slight sense of ‘will they, wont they’ about Ned and Chuck,, subverting the usual TV payoff of a big kiss by doing so through plastic wrap.Makes you wonder how they explore their other urges under these circumstances. Or maybe that’s just the lockdown thirst kicking in again...
I think the distance they have plays with your head a little bit. There’ a coyness to it that puts you in mind of a bunch of awkward kids at a school dance too nervous to dance with each other. Or maybe Ned standing two feet away from Chuck, holding his own hand and pretending it’s Chuck’s is just an eerie glimpse into the post apocalyptic world we’ll have to enter at some point and all our conventions of greetings and physical contact have been shattered.
For the rotating cast of peripheral characters the show goes through as each investigation comes and goes, it’s nice that a few a started to re-appear now and again, such as Paul Rubens’ Oscar, Christine Adams’ Simone or David Arquette’s Randy Mann. That last one is a name, not a description (a Randy Man, a Macho Savage). It helps build this broader world and story elements, albeit I’m torn on the latter. Oscar, for instance, suspects something is not quite right about Chuck and she worries that he’s going to uncover her secret. It never really goes anywhere though and, whilst you could argue that like any good mystery there is the odd red herring along the way, it still feels like a little bit of a bait and switch considering that are other things in the story that don’t get paid off.
I’ll have to look into the timeline for how the series came to a close because it definitely seems like they knew considering there’s a very tacked on epilogue to the final episode that tries to tie up some of the loose ends, but there are still some left that aren’t. Namely the presence of Ned’s father that he had thought had been long gone for some twenty years but had been closer than he thought the entire time, with the show giving periodical teases of him sitting in the Pie Hole or a more thrilling cameo as he sweeps in to rescue Ned and Olive from their untimely deaths as they cling to a branch on the edge of a cliff.
The fact that he does so whilst wearing a mask and wearing gloves is more of a way to lead Ned towards certain conclusions on the identity of this mystery man but I can’t help but wonder what the implications are on the gloves in particular. The mechanics of Ned’s power seem to be that contact in order to bring the dead back to life has to be made skin to skin, so maybe Ned inherited this power from his father and his father brought Ned back to life at some point? Maybe him abandoning Ned at a young age was done to eliminate any risk of him accidentally touching him again and making death permanent? I’m not sure that would hold up considering he later walks out on his new family and twin boys so this would require three different people to all have seemingly no memory of their own near death experience. Maybe it’s all been repressed, that wouldn’t be surprising considering all the childhood angst present in this show.
You know what else I’m confused on? The distance between Coeur d’Couers, where Chuck’s aunts live, and the Pie Hole. Maybe I’m misremembering or misheard but I’m sure in one episode the narrator mentions that they’re 161 miles apart, yet characters seem to go between the two like they’re five minutes away. One of the aunts arranges a secret date at the Pie Hole later on in the same night but that’s a pretty massive distance to cover considering they make a point that they’re only traveling on buses. I know travel is all relative to American’s considering the massive size of their country but that’s a pretty ridiculous distance to cover for a slice of pie.

Review | Spectral Illusion
Judged by Amy (daedaliaaan)
Category: Love Is In The Air
[ Author: Tieg2001 ]
Tumblr media
Title (5/5): "Spectral Illusion" itself sounds very elegant and mysterious, which is able to intrigue the readers towards the story. The title acts as a foreshadow towards the plot within the story, and it's a clever way of hooking readers into reading to find out how the story relates with the title without giving away the major plot.
Summary (6/10): I admire how you used the poetic metaphor of a flower to describe a relationship. You made "love" itself sound very mystical and ethereal without sugarcoating the concept which people tend to do when they try to describe love using metaphors. The summary itself sounds very intriguing and attractive. I docked a point because, despite the very well-written Shakespearean-like summary, it seems slightly over the top for a simple one-shot. A summary like yours would be more suitable for a multi-chapter story with a complex plot. Not much grammar error except for the use of the word "relation" since it doesn't quite make sense when put together in the last sentence. Perhaps the word "relationship" was what you were going for. The sentence “however, just like any other flower is supposed to perish,” is a little unclear with the word “supposed to.” Perhaps it could be changed into “however, just flowers are destined to perish.” Some parts of your poetic metaphor seems a bit unclear after a second read of your summary. Now, the use of Gaia - a fantastic use of Greek mythology, I personally enjoyed this - might not be familiar to the rest of the audience and may cause confusion. It seems a bit over the top to say love descends over the realm of "angels and mortals", considering no angels were discussed of in the story, making it slightly irrelevant.
Plot (24/25): I really enjoyed the plot! The flow of the plot was well executed, portraying the development of Tenma's grasp of reality in his mind. It was very interesting to see each phase he went through as he slowly realized the unfortunate truth around him. I find it very clever with how you paced the plot into making the audience think that Tsurugi was indeed alongside Tenma the whole entire time until the truth revealed itself. The plot build-up was brilliant. It got slightly confusing to read during the first few reads to understand each change of scene due to the many time skips, but I understand its necessity.
Characterization (18/20): I love the way you had characterized Tenma, especially the way you have written his thought process. Tenma is often projected as this young man who has a very optimistic view on life. It's refreshing to see such an optimistic person become a whole different person with a rather dark thought process after experiencing an unfortunate loss. You didn't make his sadness dramatic, which I truly appreciate. Tsurugi wasn't out of character - I really enjoyed his dialogues. I could easily imagine him saying his lines with the mannerism that you portrayed well in the story. The chemistry between Tenma and Tsurugi is something you really managed to show in a way that is not a cliche but very "them" if it makes sense. The reason why I didn't give you a perfect score is because I feel that Aki was a bit off, in a way that she doesn't seem to radiate much warmth than what I expected her to have. I understand that her role isn't the most prominent in this story, but I would have liked her character to be more of herself. But so far, your characterization of Tenma might be the best one I've ever read.
Grammar and Writing Style (14/15): Grammar mistakes are undetected and the use of past tense remained consistent throughout the entire story. The use of the first-person point of view works well in the storytelling process as it helps the audience sympathize better with Tenma's feelings. This way, every single emotion Tenma feels - from confusion to revelation - feel very personal to both the character and the audience. The way you write the shift in tone is very well done, the angst really hits you deep down inside. The use of short sentences helps build expectation and suspense from the audience. I don't really have much to say about your grammar and writing style considering that it is excellent, but I do think you could reduce the amount of skipped lines between each time skip. Skipping two or three lines should do the work, or maybe add three asterisks at the center to separate each time skip for it to be noticeable.
Originality (8/10): I don't think I've seen any other fics in this fandom that has touched this concept before. It might just be me since it has been a while since I last spent hours scrolling through fanfiction,  I think there might be a fic or two that might have a similar idea to this one. I docked two points because I'm rather unsure if this is truly an original concept, but I applaud you for putting your own twist on it by using the most joyful and positive character Tenma and twisting his character to portray how he would deal with such a personal loss.
Feels Factor (12/15): Not going to lie, I might have become too invested in the story and shed a tear here and there. You really did a good job portraying Tenma's self-denial and anguish in a way that is infectious to the audience. However, it did take me two reads to fully understand the flow of the plot and getting myself fully immersed into it. Do keep up the good work!

|The Lost Force | part 1
(Hello I’m typo king- if there’s any typos or mistakes  apologize- this is a fanfic I’m working on somewhere else but I would really like to post it here too so-)
Genre: Fantasy, MAMA au
Length: 1.9k
Pairing: OC (Aeris)  x EXO*
*it’s not defined yet, it’s part of the mystery
Summary: The Tree Of Life was never the same after the Red Force took the Great Force, the only one keeping the Tree Of Life alive, away. The Elements (Legends) must find the Great Force to become one again and defeat the Red Force. This story is based on SM Entertainment boy group EXO’s MV MAMA. Characters not mine.
❝When the skies and the grounds were one, the legends, through their twelve forces, nurtured the tree of life. An eye of red force created the evil which coveted the heart of tree of life, and the heart slowly grew dry. To tend and embrace the heart of tree of life, the legends hereby divide the tree in half and hide each side. Hence, time is over-turned and space turns askew. The twelve forces divide into two and create two suns that look alike into two worlds that seem alike. The legends travel apart. The legends shall now see the same sky but shall stand on different grounds, shall stand on the same ground but shall see different skies. The day the grounds be kept a single file before one sky in two worlds that seem alike, the legends will greet each other. The day the red force is purified, the twelve forces will reunite into one perfect root, a new world shall open up.❞ - MAMA by EXO
In the modern Earth, there are many tales and stories that people share everyday. Whether it is from generation to generation or by story telling events in schools and libraries. From a certain age to adulthood kids and teenagers are told that many of the stories they’ve heard during their childhood doesn't really happens or ever happened.
Many dreams and curiosity about the world are destroyed in that process, leaving the world they all know a little less magic and more grey.
But what if people were wrong about those conclusions? What if there are still magic in this world? Magic hidden between the humans? People that were destined to help other people and to keep Planet Earth free from evil?
This story goes far and longer than it looks.
Ever since Earth began to create life, there are elements that guarantees a pleasure living to all well beings in Earth. Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Frost, Light, Lightening, Time Control, Flight, Telepathy, Teleportation and Healing are the elements that together, with one Great Force that kept them together, formed the Tree Of Life.
One day, the Grate Force was taken away from the Tree Of Life by the red force. The elements quickly started fall apart and distant from each other, hence two great groups where created trying to keep some of the elements together.
Yet, the legends were still incomplete and missing the presence of each other. The whole situation without the Great Force made the elements weaker and none of them were able to find the Great Force, the only force that could possibly unite them, ever again.
The prophecy tells that when the Great Force returns and is found by the elements it will make The Tree Of Life live again and the Red Force could be defeated.

Starting college is not easy for anyone, neither it is for Aeris.
Aeris is a common girl, 18 years old starting her new life in college. It’s a new chapter in her life that would come with new challenges and surprises. In the first day of college, Aeris stood still in front of a big wall filled with papers and the list of students and their respective classrooms. She was confused, there was many people walking by and also struggling to read the list with many names and different courses and numbers. To her lucky there was someone standing next to her who seemed to be even more confused than she was. Maybe it was her chance. Maybe she should try to socialize a little.
“Are you also struggling to find your name?” she asks softly.
The guy standing there looks away from the papers for a moment to look over her with the same confused expression.  “I am not from this country… I can’t read it” he tells her.
Aeris immediately gasps surprised and nods. She always wanted to meet someone from overseas, because she never had the opportunity to travel before. “Really? What’s your name? Maybe I can help…”
The boy smiled thankfully “My name is Huang Zitao I moved from China a couple of months ago to study here.”
Aeris blinked a little confused and squints her eyes thinking of something. “You have a Chinese name right? In that case we need to search for ‘Zitao’ instead of ‘Huang’” she mentions and look over the list, searching for his name. “Here!” she exclaims “You are in the room 1485.” Aeris smiles to the boy victoriously. “Oh! You found it! Thank you so much.” he exclaims.
He smiles back at her and opens his bag looking for a paper so he could write the number of the room. Zitao suddenly looked up widening his eyes “I didn’t ask you- What is your name? We also need to find your room!”
“Oh you are right, I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Aeris.” She quickly replies.
“Aeris? That’s a beautiful name!” Zitao comments “You can just call me Tao by the way!” He looks over the list and tries to read them again. “Ae - ris. It sounds like an ‘E’.. ‘E’ is around…” he travels his finger over the list close to the middle of it.
Aeris couldn’t help but giggle at her new friend confusion. “Tao, My name starts with an “A”. Ae-ris.” She smiles widely as she noticed Tao chuckling and moving his finger upwards close to the names with ‘C’. “You are close” she comments as he finally find the names with ‘A’.
“Alicia… Amanda… Annie…Aeris!! Here you are!” He exclaims happily. “And you are in the classroom… 1485 and 1458? Why do you have to go to two classrooms?”
“What?” Aeris tilts her head curiously and notices a asterisk next to the classrooms. “Wait there is more Tao!” she points to it end reads in the bottom of the paper. “Students of this course will have to occasionally change classrooms due the latest schedule changes” She reads out loud. “Well, I guess some classes we will still have together, but for some I’ll have to change classrooms…” she trails off.
“But we will still see each other right?” Tao asks urgently. Aeris giggles at the boy’s question. After all he’s a new student just like her with not many friends and to add to that he is also not from this country. It should be scary for him, she thinks.
“Sure, we will Tao. Don’t worry about it, I got your back!” Aeris smiled reassuringly.
Zitao and Aeris headed to the classroom 1485 first, arriving there they meet with the other students talking to each other already, maybe some of them already knew each other, and some were building a friendship. Aeris sat on a desk on the second roll next to a window and Zitao takes a seat right next to her.
“Do you know anyone in here?” he whispers to her somehow shy. “Everyone is already talking to each other…”
“And aren't we talking to each other as well?” Aeris chuckles and looks around the classroom. “Not really… We will have to make some friends.”
A group of friends suddenly walks into the classroom talking loudly and Tao snaps his head to them waving happily. Aeris looked at him surprised, she hasn't asked him if he knew anyone and apparently, he does.
“Zitao!” One of the guys called for him loudly. “Where were you man? I thought we would meet up on the front door!” Another one of them exclaimed. “Ah man, that’s true- I got distracted and confused…” Tao frowns and then widens his eyes. “Oh! Guys, please meet my new friend, she’s called Aeris. With an ‘A’! Isn’t it great? She helped me out!” he exclaims. “I also learnt that ‘A’ is the first letter in the alphabet!”
“With an ‘A’?” The first one from before asked. “Of course it’s the first letter! Alphabet itself already starts with ‘A’” A tall looking guy replied back.
“Uhm.. Hi?” Aeris who felt a little out of place, said.
The boys turned to her and smiles apologetically for the mess they’ve created. Aeris listened carefully to their accents, and some of them seemed to be from China just as Tao. One of the boys stepped ahead and introduced himself offering a friendly smile.
“Hi, it is nice to meet you, Aeris. My name is Kris. I’m glad that you met Tao and helped his way here.”
“Oh yeah, no problem at all. He told me he’s not from here, so I’ve imagined how hard it must be. I mean, it’s hard for everyone and if you are from another country must be even harder.” Aeris smiled then tilted her head awkwardly “I mean— it is not impossible to figure out the place by yourself, no-not that is odd that you can’t do it— I mean we are all new in this environment called university- so it’s common that we feel awkward and weird and all those things, please someone stop me from speaking-” Aeris giggles shyly and looks away.
All the boys started laughing along and a shorter guy talks “You talk just like me!” The boy laughs loudly. “I’m Kim Jongdae! It’s nice to meet you!” Aeris look at Jongdae, he had a sharped jaw and nice smile. She wondered if that jaw could actually cut things, it looked perfect.
“God save us, having two Jongdaes is going to be pure mess!” A kitten eye sharped boy jokes happily “That’s a joke of course, we would love to have Aeris around us. My name is Zhang Yixing.” He smiled at her and turned to the eye kitten boy. “Oh I’m Kim Minseok and I agree with Yixing” he says. “You know, you guys are probably scaring Aeris away. My name is Luhan by the way is nice to meet you” Luhan changed his voice from scolding towards his friends to lovely and sweet to Aeris.
“Zhang Yixing? Luhan? Are you also Chinese?” Aeris asked them curiously.
Yixing who had the softest smile among them, chuckles and replies to her. “Yes we are! We just came from China.” He noticed how Aeris got surprised from the new information and looked at Zitao. “You didn't tell her?” he asks.
“Oh… No I haven’t yet. I mean, she didn't know you guys there was no reason” he laughs then turns to Aeris again. “We all know each other from China. It was very recently that each one of us moved to this country to study in this University” Tao explains.
“So you guys were all born in China? And you guys already knew each other for a while?” She asks.
“Me and Minseok were born here. Our parents are Korean but we moved to China when we were kids.” Jongdae explains calmly. “And ‘for a while’ would be very humble to say… Our parents know each other before we were even born. We are friends since born!” he finishes explaining.
Aeris looked at the boys with her eyes widened. Their story had surprised her in many ways, she had never had such long-lasting friends with the same age. She does have some friends that she knows since she was born since it was the daughters of her parents’ friends. But she knows it wasn't exactly the same since they were older than her; Sowon was 5 years older than her, Shawol was 4 years older and the oldest between them, Cassie that is 9 years older than Aeris.
Despise the age difference they treats each other as a family and real sisters, always trying to give emotional support to each other during the hardest times. She wonders how it would be like if they had the same age and studied in the same classes as the boys in front of her. Their parents must be hard working to give their sons such an opportunity to study in this university.
Soon one of the lecturers walked into the class and all the boys sat nearby Zitao and Aeris. Jongdae in front of her, followed by Kris  behind her and Yixing in front of Zitao and Minseok and Luhan behind. The first class was nothing much beside introductions about the classes and campus rules. When they are finally done with it Jongdae immediately turns himself to Aeris making a funny face about how boring the class was.
“Well at least you don’t have to move to next classes.” Aeris jokes to him patting Jongdae’s arm. “What do you mean?” Jongdae frowns confused. “I need to change classrooms after this one. I’m not sure why… It just said on the list that I should move.” Aeris explained pouting slightly.
“Maybe it is just a mistake? You should go and see what’s about” Jongdae suggests and Aeris nods. “I will! I see you later, Jongdae.” she replies
Aeris arranges all her things back into her bag and bids quick goodbyes to all her new friends and headed to the room 1458.

                          MEET AUTHOR BETTE LEE CROSBY
Thank you Bette Lee Crosby for sharing some wonderful personal and professional thoughts with Lindas Book Obsession and readers.
Linda’s Book Obsession – Bette Lee Crosby Guest Post
  Five-Minutes of Fun & Facts…
Before I get started telling you about myself, I’d like to thank Linda for having me as a guest on her Book Obsession Blog. Writing is a rather isolated occupation so I always celebrate the opportunity to get together with other book lovers.
Now a bit about me; I am a wife, a sister, a dog-mama, a terrible cook, a USA Today Bestselling Author and an award-winning novelist. Although I often spend long hours at the computer, I consider myself fortunate because I am doing what I love to do…tell stories.
I am from a family of Southerners, and we are by our very nature—storytellers. At family gatherings it is a given that my elderly aunts will regale us with new renditions of the same stories, but each time their story gets bigger and better. Over the years a plain woman is seen as beautiful, an ordinary man as heroic and a summertime frolic somehow morphs into a memorable adventure. With a history such as this, I was obviously destined to be a novelist.
Most of my novels began with the character, not the story. They start out with a person who could easily enough be one of my aunts, or a friend, or a neighbor. Once I have the character in mind, I let my imagination run free to conjure up all the catastrophes that might befall such a person. The other elements, such as the Keeper of the Scales in Silver Threads are born of my belief that there is a power greater than we are, and there is an inherent goodness in almost everyone.
Now a few fun facts about me: I am a dog lover, which if you follow me on Facebook is no surprise. I go for long walks to think through a story then hunker down in my office and write until way past what would be a normal person’s dinner hour. My favorite television show is This is Us. I don’t have a favorite song and I have way too many favorite books to list them. Dessert is my favorite part of any meal and when we go out to dinner, I’ll choose ambiance over cuisine any day of the week. I love chatting with readers and have written two novels based on the stories fans have shared with me. My guilty pleasures are gooey chocolate and late night Facebook chats with friends. If some night you are stricken with a bout of insomnia, stop by my Facebook page and say hi.

More information on Bette Lee Crosby
USA Today Bestselling Author and Award-winning novelist Bette Lee Crosby brings the wit and wisdom of her Southern Mama to works of fiction—the result is a delightful blend of humor, mystery and romance along with a cast of quirky charters who will steal your heart away.
A Note from Bette Lee…
Welcome. I’m delighted that you’ve stopped by for a visit. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore my website, browse through my books and get to know a bit more about me.
First off, I’m a Southerner; and Southerners are born storytellers. In the South stories are handed down from one generation to the next, and often told while sitting on the front porch or gathered around a potluck picnic table. With every telling the characters grow bigger, braver and definitely more memorable. So it is with my characters—each one born of a tale that started long ago.
Every writer begins as a reader and this is also true of me. But ignoring the gift of storytelling that my mama passed down, I majored in art and started out as a graphic artist. Fate stepped in and when one of the salesmen said to make up some sell copy for the back of a pantyhose package, I did. Before long I realized my niche was creating images with words rather than pictures and a new career blossomed.
After two decades of writing for business—magazine articles, corporate reports, marketing plans and the like—that storytelling heritage kicked in and I began my first novel. I began writing the story in longhand using sticky notes, cross outs, and asterisks for editing and then handing my messy papers over to my secretary to be typed. (Remember, I studied art, not typing.) Several chapters later, I admitted defeat, bought my first laptop and taught myself to type.
I wrote two full-length novels (which will never see the light of day) before I wrote The Twelfth Child and entered it into the National Pen Women competition as an unpublished manuscript. It won and that tiny taste of success spurred me on to make this a full time career.
Now, I write almost every day and consider myself blessed to be doing this thing that I love so much. I look back and smile thinking if Mama were still here she’d recognize bits and pieces of the stories she once told.
This is Me…
I am a wife, a sister, a grandma and a dog mama
I am also a 30-year survivor of Lymphoma
For 17years I taught Kindergarten Sunday School
I took Flying Lessons on a 4-seat Piper Warrior
I do my best thinking on my 3-mile morning walk
My hair is naturally curly (Spring into ringlets curly!)
I am a night owl who dreads the thought of getting up early
I can often be found trolling Facebook in the wee hours
I am a big time dog lover, which comes as no surprise to anyone
In Spare Change, Scooter Cobb is named after my friend’s dog
We live in Florida because I love sunshine, hate cold weather
My favorite television show is This is Us
My favorite drink is red wine (Pinot Noir)
In restaurants I almost always order seafood
My guilty pleasures are ice cream and candy
