I don’t know what theater kid needs to hear it, but making a mistake (or multiple) on stage is not the end of the world and you don’t suck for it

Brought to you by the fact that today I saw Jeremy Jordan drop something on stage, break character mid song to go ‘woops’, and stumble over multiple lines in an official Broadway Production

#and another person had a prop break very obviously on stage #and its something to giggle about but it didn’t take anything away from the show #didn’t make the performers look like bad performers #even the middle/highschool english classes in the audience didnt think badly about the mistakes #because everyone knows they happen #theater kid #musical theatre #musicals #Jeremy jordan #eva noblezada

I love going off the face of the planet for a month because I've had three shows to design in a row.

One a week for the past three weeks this month (essentially two 60hr unpaid work weeks and one lightly paid work week).

Anyways, we open this week's show tomorrow night! Super fun.

Oh, and then I have a FOURTH show to design next week. And then a week to finish and turn in homework and then the end of the school year.

In my drama class we have a thing where everyone has to do a review of a show that they’ve seen in the past year, and THIS ONE KID decides to do it on Hadestown, which he saw on Broadway and it’s his favorite musical. Cool, right? No. Not cool. 25 MINUTES! HE WAS RAMBLING ABOUT THIS FOR 25 MINUTES! HALF OF WHICH WAS SPENT MANSPLAINING THESE MYTHS THAT HAVE EXISTED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS! An example that broke me: “yeah well um you know because of this there were like the seasons, like um winter, summer, spring-" *entire class looses their minds*

And the worst part is that finals are really soon and we all really needed to work on our scripts. And like I love Hadestown, but he was completely wasting our time rambling on and repeating himself constantly, at the end he was talking about how when Euridyce has to go back to Hadestown and the stage just looks very empty (because, it is??) and he just wouldn’t shut up about it. He repeated himself about how empty it looked like 5 times because he just doesn’t know how to actually give a meaningful review of a musical and actually use words well.

GUYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSS ITS MY MUSICAL TOMORROW ITS ALMOST TIIIIIME OH MY GODDDD ITS ALMOST TIME HOLY SHIT AUUGAHUHGHH I need to work on my lines and say them more slowly, and somehow make my singing voice louder while also deeper (the dysphoria's mean :( but if I can't make it deeper, it's okay, for the SAKE OF THEATER!!!) but otherwise we're all doing great!!!! I think we'll all do just fine!!

We had a full dress rehearsal today with full costume changes and we did pretty good! Only a couple mistakes and missing props, but we'll deal with that tomorrow. Overall, I think we'll all be AWESOME! Can't wait to watch the other sections too tbh. But anyway, WISH ME LUCK!!
