My journey takes me through all 47 prefectures, where I live with locals and learn their home cooking. Yesterday marked Day 32 in Shizuoka Prefecture, specifically in the city of Iwata. It was my 14.5th stop out of the 47 prefectures. During my stay in Iwata, I had the pleasure of meeting an amazing couple! The wife shared the coolest dream (which I won't disclose here), and her husband showcased his incredible talent as a chef. Their heartfelt hospitality and care touched me deeply, leaving me eager to do something special for them today. However, I realized that my usual American dishes might be too heavy for their taste, as they prefer lighter meals. The only option I could think of that wasn't too heavy or unhealthy was Taiwanese cuisine. I decided to make dan bing (Taiwanese egg crepes), fan xie chao dan (Taiwanese omelet), steamed bass fish (which was quite a challenge to find at the supermarket, but I managed to get the last one!), stir-fried vegetables, and you fan (Taiwanese mixed rice). Unfortunately, I couldn't find the usual wrap for dan bing, so I improvised and used tortillas instead. When Mark, my host, saw this, he had a remarkable revelation and inspiration. I've been in this shopping center countless times,to buy food,shop for clothes,shoes,watch movies play games,have ID photos taken and the rest of it. However,in all that time I've never had a aerial view of the Only Mall in Papua New Guinea.. This view has a unique perspective of the shopping Mall.. Over the years a few people have been hit making this crossing,the last victim I believe was a student of a school in the waigani area...
