#OTD in 1848 – A gunfight takes place between Young Ireland Rebels and police at Widow McCormack’s house in Ballingarry, Co Tipperary.
The Young Irelander Rebellion was a failed Irish nationalist uprising led by the Young Ireland movement, part of the wider Revolutions of 1848 that affected most of Europe. It took place on 29 July 1848 in the village of Ballingarry, South Tipperary. Some quietly influential musicians end up being like that thanks to the company they keep and which gives them the legitimacy that results in many people checking you. For instance, J.D. Souther might be one of those with a lot of famous friends, including The Eagles, who actually made a comeback by covering one of his songs and some of them also worked with him on his own LPs. Why shouldn't they, he's a solid songwriter and I'm sure the scene that surrounded him give him many benefits, including a variety of chances to hone his tunes. However, I get your questions – where's his quiet influence? Well, I would say he was not the main characters of his environment, he was a supporting one, yet the places would be less without them.

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to the weekend!
Wow! Here we are again: Friday! Where did that week go? No, seriously, where did that week go?
Next Wednesday, it will be March. Two months gone already! Naturally, it’s impossible to slow down time and, to be honest, I’m struggling to deal with these sands of time slipping away at an alarming rate. Don’t want to sound too morbid but I’ll be dead soon! No, I’m not ill but this is a fact. I’ll become a memory that becomes more distant by the day. You’ll have to read somebody else’s status. Or write your own. Now you know why I do so much. Now you know why I try to stay in contact with so many people.
My Instagram hacker got busy last night. Sending out begging letters to everyone that is STILL on that old profile. (Why are you STILL on that old profile?) People were sending me messages, “I think you’ve been hacked.” I was hacked LAST YEAR and told everyone to unfollow my old profile. The new profile is “wesker.lindsay”. If you don’t unfollow my old Instagram profile, you will continue receiving messages from the beggar. I told Instagram about my account being stolen and they did NOTHING!
Apologies for talking about race again but, yesterday, a black guy told me that his black friends weren’t interested in the ‘Elvis’ movie because of cultural appropriation. Wow, then they’d better stop listening to Adele, Ariana Grande, Teena Marie, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, Bob James, Jimmy Messina, Van Morrison, Average White Band, Boz Scaggs, David Bowie, The Doobie Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Mac Miller, Post Malone, Lewis Taylor, Lisa Stansfield, Manhattan Transfer, Yvonne Elliman, KC & The Sunshine Band, Joss Stone, Moonchild, Marie Dahlstrom, Louise Golbey, Jacob Collier, Jon B, Michael McDonald, Ned Doheny, Paul Simon, Simply Red, Robert Palmer, Stevie Winwood, Talking Heads, Elton John, The Style Council, Bobby Caldwell, Amy Winehouse, Kenny Thomas, Level 42, George Michael, The Bee Gees Toto and every song written by Burt Bacharach & Hal David. Yeah, they’d better take those acts out of their playlist immediately! In fact, show me a white act that hasn’t – in some small way – been influenced by black music.
Really hope you can join me tomorrow for the final part of The Letter L. Once we finish The Letter L, it will be three years until we get there again. On March 4, we start The Letter M. My executive producer for M (Pt. 1) is The Very Generous Jen Kyriacou. (You are in for a treat.) The Letter M (Pt. 2) is on March 11 and then there is no ‘A-Z’ on March 18 as The Trouble and I will be down on the French Riviera! (Can’t wait!)
Have a fabulous and funky Friday! I love you all. You’re probably thinking, “You don’t even know me!” but, if people can hate for no reason, why can’t I love?

Time for today’s Rock Report,
Robert Plant has announced plans to embark on a tour of the U.K. this fall with his band Saving Grace.
Plant will first wrap up a tour of the U.S. with Alison Krauss in September before crossing the Atlantic to the U.K. and kicking off another trek on October 25 at Ulster Hall, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He will perform across a few major U.K. cities, including Dublin, Edinburgh and Glasgow, before wrapping the tour in Perth, Scotland, on November 9.
The Ohana Festival's Encore Weekend, scheduled to feature founder Eddie Vedder, The Black Keys, Alanis Morissette, Haim and many more, has been called off due to unavoidable circumstances, according to the festival organizers. The Encore Weekend was scheduled to take place at Dana Point, California's Doheny State Beach on October 8 and 9, a week after the sixth annual Ohana Festival. The Ohana Festival, featuring Vedder, Jack White, Stevie Nicks and more, will take place as scheduled from September 30 through October 2.
TidalWave Comics have added a Stevie Nicks comic book to their popular "Female Force" series focused on women who make an impact around the world. "Female Force: Stevie Nicks" was released on July 20.
"Female Force: Stevie Nicks," written by Michael Frizell, is available both digitally and in print and can be found on multiple platforms. The 22-page comic book will be available in hard back with cover art by famed comic book artist Yonami as well as a paperback cover by Ramon Salas. Rolling Stone called Nicks the "reigning queen of rock and roll" and named her one of the 100 greatest songwriters of all time. She has been honored by the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame twice, received eight Grammy nominations, and won two as a solo artist and one with Fleetwood Mac.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="800"] (PHOTO CREDITS: ARAYA DOHENY FOR GETTY IMAGES)[/caption] Iconic Roles take a look at some of the best performances by actors and actresses in film and television. While Steve Carell's portrayal as Michael Scott in the American version of The Office will undoubtedly go down in history books, the comedian exhibited a variety of roles he masterfully portrayed since making his cinematic debut in 1991's Curly Sue. Carell will shortly reprise his role as Gru in Minions: The Rise of Gru, the next episode in the Despicable Me franchise. Let's go over five of Carell's best live-action performances over the years. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) Carell followed up his breakthrough in the movie office hit Bruce Almighty (2003) by joining the star-studded Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Carell played Brick Tamland, a weatherman with an IQ of 48, in Adam McKay's directorial debut. Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Fred Willard also appeared in the cast. Critics lauded the picture as one of the best comedies of the 2000s. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, released in 2013, saw Carell resume the role. The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) Carell first established himself as a capable leading man in the film he co-wrote with Judd Apatow, who also directed. Andy Stitzer (Carell) is a 40-year-old man whose pals wish to assist him in losing his virginity. The American comedian portrayed a delusional and socially handicapped persona, which he would later reprise in various roles. The picture grossed more than $170 million at the box office, well above its $20 million production budget. Catherine Keener and Paul Rudd, among others, starred in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Little Miss Sunshine (2006) Carell plays suicidal Marcel Proust researcher Dr. Frank Ginsberg in the two-time Academy Award winner narrative, who finds new life motivation in a road trip with his family to take his niece to compete in a child beauty pageant. Carell co-starred in the Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris-directed film opposite Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, and Alan Arkin. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and became an instant smash. Little Miss Sunshine grossed more than $100 million and received two Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Arkin). Foxcatcher (2014) After many years in humor, Carell transitioned to drama in his later years. One of his most dramatic performances came in the film directed by Bennett Miller and written by E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman. Eccentric businessman John du Pont (Carell) transformed his Foxcatcher Farm home into a wrestling training center, inviting 1984 Olympic gold medalist wrestlers Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and his older brother David (Mark Ruffalo) to join the team. Carell's unforgettable performance earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Despite being a box-office flop, the film was universally praised by critics. The Big Short (2015) Mark Baum (Carell) was one of the few persons who correctly forecast the housing market crisis in 2007. Adam McKay's critically acclaimed drama chronicles the real-life narrative of Baum and the other great minds who predicted the US housing bubble. Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt were among the cast members. The film received a slew of Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, but only one was awarded: Best Adapted Screenplay. Aside from the performers' performances, the film is known for several cameos that break the fourth wall to discuss economic ideas.
