When Lily appears to Severus through the power of the Resurrection Stone, she reveals a long-buried secret about Harry’s parentage and tasks Severus with rescuing Harry from the Dursleys.
Severus isn’t certain he’s up to this new challenge, but he’s determined to keep his promise to Lily—for the boy’s sake and maybe even for his own. After all, Potter may be just like his father, but that fact no longer seems like the divide between them it once did.
Harry, meanwhile, is baffled that Snape of all people is the one to finally take him away from the Dursleys—supposedly for good. He’s determined not to let himself hope that things might truly get better, but his time at Spinner’s End threatens his resolve. Reluctantly, he begins to trust Snape, and he starts to wonder if maybe—just this once—hope doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

She was a year younger then him but saw the goodness in his heart, that was being covered with blackness and hatred. All the war and all the deaths for what? What if it was Severus Snape who could have stopped it in the beginning. Maybe Severus can be good in the first part, and only part.

Harry Potter characters that were criminally underused (in no particular order)
(MAJOR SPOILERS)
Luna Lovegood - literally only introduced like halfway through the fifth book, yet probably the most influential ravenclaw character. Her odd mannerisms and odder outlook would have made her a fabulous addition to the golden trio’s shenanigans, yet she only serves this purpose in one case
Mad-eye Moody - he’s “well-developed” in the fourth book, and we get a lot of content of him... only to discover it wasn’t him at all. Then, he briefly appears with the order and then dies. Great. What a wonderful use of a skilled fighter and mentor.
Remus Lupin - okay, so he does get the whole third book but then... he just fucks off? Ofc then he, too, returns to fight with the order, fall in love with a woman half his age, have a baby with her, and then die immediately thereafter. He’s just such a cool guy with so much to offer to Harry and to readers (when it comes to insight on discrimination in the wizarding community) and he just doesn’t get a chance to do nearly enough. What a wasted opportunity.
Pravati and Padma Patil - yeah, these are two different characters, but we know so little about them that I can’t even discuss them individually. They’re twins in different houses! How cool! There’s so much to be explored there, especially considering the competitive atmosphere among houses that Harry perceives. Not to mention the fact that they inexplicably agreed to go to the Yule Ball with Harry and Ron respectively despite a) apparently not knowing them very well and b) not even being all that desperate to hang out with them at the ball (I think Padma asks Ron to dance a few times and then gives up) (side note: this made me extremely mad when I was little, because I had I major crush on Padma). What compelled them to do that? What are they like? What are the differences between them that caused them to be sorted into different houses? Gah, they could have been so interesting!
Cho Chang - this is one that makes me genuinely a little mad (same goes for #6). She’s just so two dimensional, and that’s really not fair. She’s a decoration on Harry’s arm for what? A year or two? And she then cries, dates Diggory, and then she cries again (I think she dates Diggory first but you get the point). HER PURPOSE IS NOT JUST TO CRY OVER GUYS. She’s a ravenclaw. Let’s hear about that. Where do her interests lie? Is she an academic? Is she an artist? What kind of intelligence does she have, what kind of knowledge does she seek? What made her like Harry to begin with? Did Harry ever like her for more than her “sleek black hair” (not a direct quote, but I’m sure it’s described as something to that effect)? I want to knowwwww
Lavender Brown - aka... Ron’s brief, annoying girlfriend? The precursor to Romione? I mean, was this girl even in the D.A.? Maybe she was, but I don’t remember, and that’s the problem. She’s a Gryffindor. She’s brave, she’s headstrong, she’s proud! But she’s only ever portrayed as overbearing and clingy which SURE, may be some of her traits, because she’s allowed to have flaws, but that’s not all she is. I want to see her relationship with Pravati and Hermione, who she roomed with for six years (beyond her annoying Hermione when she dated Ron). But nope! I guess she’s just another accessory!
Nymphadora Tonks - i.e. Tonks. She’s funny and brave and powerful, but we barely get to see her in action (yes, before you ask, i had a crush on her, too). She’s interesting, so interesting, because her emotions are often expressed through her appearance, and she undergoes like two full personality shifts throughout the books (it’s worth noting that she’s also introduced pretty late in the series, book five, i think). She’s depressed for a while, then she falls in love, gets married, and has a son (and then dies), and, while it seems like this is a lot of usage (which it is), I can’t help but wish we had seen a little more of it all, specifically of her falling in love and of her married life, of her motherhood, before she died.
Xenophilius Lovegood - literallly (i would argue) one of the most interesting characters in the series, despite the fact that (I think) he is only featured heavily in one scene. I would definitely call him a more complex character than Snape. In his one scene, Xenophilius offers the golden trio one of their most important lessons through the Tale of the Three Brothers, the story which ultimately wins them the war against Voldemort. And yet, it’s a trap. He’s stalling, keeping them around so that Voldy’s goons can come pick them up and presumably kill them, or at least imprison them until Voldy comes ‘round again. But, and here’s the important part, he does it to save his beloved daughter. His daughter, who is the only family he has left, after his incredible scientist-witch of a wife died doing what she loved. The Lovegood’s are a family of inherently good people, yet Xenophilius sides with the very people who took his daughter in a weak effort to get her safely back. His plan won’t work, they won’t return Luna. They DON’T return her, but Xenophilius is fundamentally weak, made weak out of his love, and his fear of losing the last person in the world he has to care about, to protect, to love. He’s just SO DAMN INTERESTING ughhhhh give me more Xenophilius pleaseeeee
Kingsley Shacklebolt - he’s??? so cool??? Literally he’s just awesome, but we barely see him. He acts as a spy, essentially, when the ministry gets taken over by the death eaters, and helps the order actually get shit done, but he’s just so underused. Idk, I don’t have much to say except that he’s awesome and I want more Shacklebolt content
Cedric Diggory - he’s actually talked about a fair amount, so I don’t think I need to say much, except that he is literally the nicest guy ever, and, despite Harry actively hating him for like a whole year, he helps him in the Triwizard Tournament and represents Hufflepuff beautifully as being more than just the “miscellaneous house”. But then of course he’s killed before he and Harry can become friends, and before readers get a chance to understand anything about his social status (is he the asshole popular guy or sweet quite guy???) or motivations. Of course.
Percy Weasley - aka MY FAVORITE WEASLEY KID. R*wling did my boy so dirty. He’s cool because he’s kind of a stuck up academic asshole stereotype, or at least Harry perceives him as such, and then he changes slightly over the years as he and Harry both grow and mature and then it all culminates in his great moment of emotion and humanity! Fred’s death is, without much contest I think, the most devastating death in the whole series (Dobby could admittedly give him a run for his money, though), in part because he’s just so damn sweet and funny and innocent, and in part because right before it we FINALLY get to see Percy smile. He smiles at a dumb joke Fred makes, and then Fred DIES (a well placed death, I’ll admit begrudgingly), and just the juxtaposition of the moment... *chef’s kiss*. And then we never really check back in on Percy, and we don’t really get enough closure on that moment. :/
Colin and Dennis Creevy - again, two characters stuffed together, this time because we actually know a fair amount about them and... they’re kind of the same character. Colin is obsessed with Harry, and so is Dennis. That’s about it. I just WISH we got a little more on these kids, on why they felt so drawn to him as this apparently untouchable hero among them. Were they abused? Orphaned? Abandoned? Did they have some sort of trauma in their lives that made them so attached to the idea of a savoir? Or did they simply regard Harry as most little boys might, as a cool sort of action figure character? The world may never know :(((
Susan Bones - God, I wish I had more to say about her. She’s sweet, she a hufflepuff, I think she helps Ron at one point in Herbology. Her aunt dies I think. Is she the one who had the rabbit at one point? Idk, she’s just one of those characters who’s so far in the background that she almost stands out, and I kinda just wanna know more.
Fawkes - yeah, I know he’s a bird or whatever, but he’s fucking cool, and we get a Fawkes-ex-machina in the second book and then he’s essentially inconsequential for like... forever. I want to know how he and dumbledore bonded, why his feathers in those two specific wands were so attracted to Harry and Tommy boi specifically, other than symbolism uwu. Does Fawkes have a moral compass, or does he simply follow Dumbledore’s orders? Could his loyalty potentially be changed?
Narcissa Malfoy - please, for the love of god, give the Malfoy’s a chance. At least Draco and Narcissa. Narcissa is essentially the flip side of Xenophilius’s coin. Her side of the family is shrouded in dark magic, but her priority is keeping her dear son safe. I just want to know her and her inner struggle more intimately, because she’s such a contradiction, she’s a death eater who loves and protects, a dark magic user who wants to create something warm and beautiful for her family. She’s scared for a husband, a top death eater, one of Voldemort’s personal faves, and scared for her son, who she knows is good at heart but who struggles through the first steps of death eater initiation out of a sense of duty, a duty to her and his father. She’s the intimate mother figure, yet she’s an antagonist, fundamentally speaking. Fascinating.
These are just some I thought of off the top of my head, I’m sure there are literally hundreds more, from the two guys from the Knightbus to Bathilda Bagshot to Nagini the legend (also wtf happened to her in the Cursed Child?? Nvm, I can’t even get into that shithole right now), and I have to admit that I still love Harry Potter, for its characters and it’s incredible world building, though R*wling is a massive piece of terf-y shit.
It’s important to note that I understand the purpose of flat characters, I understand the purpose of background characters, of undeveloped characters. What I’m pointing out here is that there was a lot of potential in these characters that was largely squandered because R*wling focused her energy on attempting to redeem Snape without a redemption arch, attempting to redeem Dumbledore with an inadequate one, and refusing to properly redeem Draco despite his well-developed arch, for some fucking reason. If you can’t tell, I’m salty, but I’m only salty because I care. Ily, have a good day!!

Hey anon, you’re too nice. Sorry this took a long time, I just wasn’t in a place where I could keep up with the (literal hundred +!) of these. Now I’m slowly working through them.

Reasoning: Being absent minded, artistic, super Rave traits, as is being passionate about something like art.
Favorite Club: Art Club. An easy club to guess, but magical art is demanding, soulful, and soul-demanding. Only other artists really understand, and it’s nice to always have an older student mentor you in your chosen medium.
Favorite Shop: Pandora’s Paintbox. Named for the artist Pandora Lovegood, who mixed her passions with potions and other means of creation, the shop is tended mostly by her husband, Xenophilius, in his retirement from The Quibbler. Occasionally war hero, prisoner of war, and current editor-in-chief of The Quibbler Luna Lovegood also stops in, because she loves painting and drawing, and leads classes on weekends, usually of very odd subject matter, like an erumpent horn that she swears is a crumple horn snorkak.
Job After Hogwarts: (For a real moment here…there is definitely more than one art institute, and some that offer courses online. You can also go to regular school and get your MFA in fine arts! Stick with it! You can do tons of amazing Youtube videos of art classes, local community college, or even self-study). Textbook illustrator. Most people find textbook illustrations dull, which of course they are, in the muggle world. There aren’t portraits in careful pencils, charcoal, or even pastels of famous figures to draw, enchant, and give voice to when you read about them on a certain page, or rain to fall over the sweet summer grass that smells so real when you read about the herbology of the biosphere. Even wheeling planets and star charts can dazzle and ensnare first year students in opening their Astronomy Textbook. You draw the world as it was, as it is, and as you hope it to be, and your dreams live pressed forever between the pages of books that touch hundreds of hands (and hearts).

POPPY HOOKUM is TWENTY-TWO YEARS OLD and an ILLUSTRATOR for THE POLITICS PAGE at THE QUIBBLER. They look remarkably like LIV HEWSON and consider themselves aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. They are currently OPEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
An activist and a fearless fighter with a heart of gold, Poppy Hookum believes passionately in equal rights for everyone who calls the wizarding world their home. The youngest child of GEORGE and ROSE HOOKUM, Poppy grew up in a rather fantastical household where imagination reigned supreme. Their middle sister DAISY, preferred to live in worlds they had created and Poppy’s childhood was filled with memories of Daisy pulling her sisters along on great expeditions. Daisy was a dreamer and although Poppy appreciated her efforts they could never quite relate to her. Poppy did not share their sister’s imagination. They were very matter of fact even as a child and although traipsing around in the wind looking for fairy rings was fun to Daisy it seemed like a pointless exercise to Poppy given everyone knew pixies were more commonly found in Cornwall. Their eldest sister PRIMROSE was a dreamer of another kind. Primrose looked at the world in front of her and wondered how she could make it beautiful, which sadly included dressing up Poppy to look like a pot doll and attempting to curl their already curly hair into tight ringlets and fashion princess style gowns for them to parade around in. In their younger years Poppy would try their best to rifle out of the clutches of their sisters and their games but as they got older they tended to go along with things to make them happy, even if they did sulk about it thereafter.
Poppy was the blunt one of their family, with a perpetually knitted expression worn on their face and their nose buried in a copy of The Daily Prophet which made the rest of their family laugh.Everyone in Poppy’s family was eccentric, including Poppy though they had a hard time seeing it. They all seemed ridiculous to Poppy including their cousins who were just as crazy as Poppy’s sisters. BILLIUS WEASLEY somehow managed to make Primrose seem subdued in her style, whilst ARTHUR was hopping and obsessed with anything vaguely related to Muggles which Poppy found most peculiar. The only person who understood them in their family was their middle cousin FREDRICK. A few years older than Poppy, their family would laugh as everyone would run and play around the Weasley burrow leaving Poppy and Fredrick to sit reading wearing spectacles that didn’t help them see any better. An interest in current affairs ran in the family and whilst living in the fantastical never interested Poppy, dreaming of their life one day working at The Daily Prophet was a dream they allowed themself to indulge in. Their father George was a very famous journalist who covered the ousting of NOBBY LEACH from office and was largely responsible for the rumours which began to perpetuate about ABRAXAS MALFOY helping him be forced out of office. Poppy’s father believed in doing everything you could to change the world around you and was a very passionate journalist who believed in equality.
The Hookum family were a longstanding Pure-Blood family in wizarding Britain with ties to Sacred Twenty-Eight families, but that didn’t matter to their father. What mattered was using his status to do what was right and it was an ideology they carried forth fiercely at school. Sorted into Gryffindor, Poppy was the last of their family to attend Hogwarts just behind their estranged cousins ALECTO and AMYCUS CARROW, whom Poppy utterly despised. None of their family spoke to that particular purist branch of their family tree but Poppy took their disdain one step further, openly challenging Amycus and Alecto whenever they got the chance and saw them doing something horrible and wicked, which happened to be a great deal. Poppy had hoped that their ghastly cousins were in the minority in their wickedness though Poppy soon discovered that was not the case. Alecto and Amycus were part of a larger rot of self important purists which included the likes of JASPER AVERY, LARKIN MULCIBER and SEVERUS SNAPE whom she saw bully and belittle people on the daily. Poppy’s fellow Gryffindors LILY EVANS and MARY MACDONALD were often a victim of prejudiced bullying, frequently tormented simply because they were Muggle-Borns. They were outraged. People like their cousins and their fellow nasty Slytherins needed to be stopped and Poppy was determined to do so.
So began their activism, containing on from CHARITY BURBAGE and BENJY FENWICK’s hard work from their days at Hogwarts, Poppy fought under the banner of Sorcerers for Equality, starting hallway duels, pulling stunts and earning a number of detentions from PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL in the process. Poppy’s name was a famous one known for quite literally getting on top of a soapbox and preaching to their fellow students about equality. Thankfully Poppy wasn’t alone in their exactions and their antics attracted fellow supporters. CARDORAC DEARBORN had been Poppy’s friend since sitting down at the Gryffindor table during first year and the two had only gotten closer since then. Cardorac was like the brother Poppy hadn’t had, having always preferred the company of wizards and other non-binary sorcerers compared to their very feminine sisters. Cardorac always had Poppy’s back, happy to jump to their defense and plaster the school full of posters with Charity and Benjy’s teachings. It was more than Poppy’s own sisters did for them at the very least. Caught up in their careers, Primrose seemed more intent on making dresses for the enemy whilst Daisy focused on running her silly little newspaper which mostly printed gossip rather than anything of importance. Poppy had always thought her family held the same beliefs as they did but when push came to shove they could only rely on her friends and Arthur to be by their side.
Some of Poppy’s friends had disappointed them in this area also. Since first year, Poppy, Caradoc, DEMETRIUS MCLAGGEN and GWENOG JONES had been inseparable. But as they grew older and Poppy and Caradoc’s eyes had widened to the problems occurring in their world, Gwenog and Demetrius had shied away from controversy. The excuses they made were flimsy, especially for Gwenog whose family had positions at The Ministry that could inflict change and had a girlfriend at the time who held very similar beliefs. Despite how much Poppy loved Gwenog, her unwillingness to join their cause and her relationship DORCAS MEADOWES was a slight point of contention in their relationship. Poppy had always held a candle for Dorcas and was ashamed to say they were somewhat relieved to hear when Dorcas and Gwen decided to go their separate ways and began to become quietly better friends with Dorcas behind Gwen’s back. Leaving school, Poppy wasn’t quite sure how to inflect the most change. Caradoc and Dorcas were training to be Aurors which had never suited Poppy and they were quite sure The Prophet would never have them after hearing about what they’d been up to at school. Poppy needed a plan and then suddenly a job offer fell square in their lap. Famous for their posters, boards and signs that often depicted various purists as hilarious cartoons, Poppy was approached by XENOPHILIUS LOVEGOOD for a job at his magazine The Quibbler, working alongside their idol Charity Burbage.
Poppy couldn’t have said yes fast enough and although they saw themselves mostly taking to the streets to protest after graduation being paid to draw alongside an icon was pretty much their dream job. Working with Charity has been a blessing for Poppy and they would consider them somewhat of a friend after all the trouble they’d stirred after their article on the arrest of SILAS CRUMP was posted all over London. Although it was scary to have the Ministry have an eye on them both Poppy knew how important their work was and wasn’t scared into silence for having a target on their back. It was this utter fearlessness that led to Charity introducing Poppy to ALASTOR MOODY and joining the ranks of The Order of The Phoenix. Discovering there was an underground organisation trying to link the recent string of deaths and disappearances in London to one wizard as wild to Poppy but they were very committed to lending a hand. A bit of a hot head, Poppy has been assigned GLENDA CHITTOCK as a mentor who although is lacking in duelling ability is extremely stealthy and a very smooth talker. Helping them control their impulses to rush into situations and think more smartly, Poppy is enjoying learning from Glenda and has been helping them investigate a string of upper class villains they think are hiding amongst the upper class and are currently on the tale of mysterious French witch OPHELIA DELACOUR.

Title: A Set Of Unbelievable Interviews
Summary: Everyone’s favourite (and money minting) interviewee, Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, turns out to be very uncooperative and directs a poor, unfortunate reporter to his fellow wizards – namely, Voldemort – to answer Miss Sarah L.’s romantically inclined questions. Valentines’ Day Interviews have never gone more terribly.

“No.”
“Just one question –!”
“No.”
“It shall only take a minute!”
“No.”
“Please, Harry! It’s Valentines’ Day!”
“No. Especially not then.”
“Aww, spread a little love, Harry!”
“No, Miss Sarah L.”
“But my Boss –”
“Is of no concern to me.”
“Please! I need to have answers to these questions!”
Harry paused, “These specific questions?”
“Yes,” Miss Sarah admitted.
Harry smirked, “Well, I may not be able to answer them, but I can give you the names and addresses of some people who can.”
Miss Sarah nodded, “Okay, anything will do now. Who?”
A shark like grin appeared on Harry Potter’s face and Miss Sarah L. gulped nervously. Why did she feel this was not going to go well?

Character: Tom Marvolo Riddle/Voldemort (Dark Lord. Murderous sociopath. Genius. Evil Overlord. Most fearsome dark wizard ever.)

On this auspicious day, the 15th of the shortest month of the year, our interviewer, Miss Sarah L. begins asking her set of questions to a rather (in)famous wizard, Tom Marvolo Riddle (After extracting a Magical Oath that our resident Dark Lord shall not be shooting her an Avada Kedavra at the end of the session).
Sarah: How long do you think you could tolerate spending every minute of every day with your partner? Assume you would work, eat, play and sleep together. Which one of you would need more time apart?
Voldemort: Partner? There is no partnership to be had! I share my power with none. I rule alone. There are no equals to Lord Voldemort! Anyone claiming so (Yes, you, Potter) shall die a very painful death by my hand!
Sarah twitches, but respectfully, and fearfully, keeps her silence. Asking the Dark Lord to assume a “What if” scenario and re-answer the question would be suicidal – even with the Oath in place. Lord Voldemort is certainly not known as the most powerful Dark Lord for nothing.
S: Would you be willing to murder an innocent victim if it would end hunger in your world?
V: Of course. My survival is of utmost importance. A mere Muggle or Mudblood is of no consequence whatsoever.
…Right. Did she expect differently?
S: Would sex in a risky place appeal to you or not? Where might be a place you'd like to have it?
V: Coupling? No one is worthy of sharing Lord Voldemort's bed! There shall be no illicit love affairs of mine!
Miss Sarah concedes defeat to the unyielding and uncooperative Dark Lord and moves on to her next Interviewee. This one she deems a success – she has escaped alive with her life!

Character: Dobby (House-elf. Free elf. Harry Potter Sir's friend!)
…
Miss Sarah L. has decided to broaden her mind and has chosen to Interview Elf Dobby next. Harry Potter’s suggestions may have been…unexpected, but an elf seems a far better prospective than a Dark Lord.
She begins with her previous list of questions that she was too cowardly to question Lord Voldemort about. Hopefully, her current interviewee shall not pose much problem.
Sarah: Are you more likely to threaten, cajole, reason, or plead to get your way?
Dobby: Dobby's way? Dobby didn't get his way unless he cheated and went around the bad Master's orders. After Harry Potter sir freed Dobby, Dobby is a free elf! Dobby can now do anything he pleases!
Sarah raises her eyebrow, but decides not to ask him to elaborate.
S: Do you judge others by higher or lower standards than you judge yourself?
D: Dobby is a lowly elf, and all the wizards are more superior to Dobby – that is what Master Malfoy used to say. But Harry Potter sir treats Dobby as an equal, a friend. Dobby can never stand more proudly than he has done after being called Harry Potter sir's friend!
A Harry Potter devotee if she ever saw one – not to say that she wasn’t! Just…Argh! Forget it!
S: If you or your partner could not get an erection what would be your biggest concern or how would you handle the situation?
D: Dobby does not understand the last question. Does Miss not know to ask better? Dobby biggest concern is always the well-being of Harry Potter sir! And his safety!
Miss Sarah realises her folly in requesting Dobby the Elf to be her interviewee and decides to move on to someone with more experience.

Character: Luna Lovegood (Ditzy blond. Sees things no one else can. A serene and happy witch. Proficient in charms.)

Daughter of Xenophilius Lovegood (Editor of the magazine, Quibbler), Luna Lovegood, has graciously agreed to answer Miss Sarah L.’s questions.
Miss Sarah has decided to persistently stick to her original list of questions in the hope that they shall finally be answered by young Miss Luna.
Sarah: What do you most strive for in your life: accomplishment, security, love, power, excitement or knowledge?
Luna: Excitement naturally! I have long since wished to go with Daddy and hunt for Crumple Horned Snorkacks. How very exciting that shall be! Like an adventure! And being friends with Harry, Ronald, Hermione, Ginny and Neville guarantees a life of excitement. Ooh, is that a Blubbering Humdinger?
Okay…a what? Blubbering –? Sarah pastes on a polite smile and continues. This is Harry Potter’s friend?
S: Do you find particularly settings to be sexually stimulating, such as danger, opulence, or formality? If not those, what would be a particularly sensual setting for you?
L: A sensual setting? I think one without Nargles. You know, they enter your head and make things go fuzzy – certainly not nice for sex or kinks or anything of the sort I have in mind. Perhaps under the moonlight? Moonbeam is supposed to have relaxing properties, you know... And the fairies may come to bless the union too!
Moonbeam? Fairies? Sarah is not sure she should continue questioning Miss Luna, despite her open manner in answering questions relating to sex and mating. She is uncertain if her sanity shall survive.
S: If you and your partner had a squeaky bed in a hotel room how would this affect your sexual activities? What if it were in a friend's house?
L: Affect my performance in bed? Of course not! Why would it? Oh dear? Are you infected with Mindmint Bugs? I have the cure for it with me right here...
Finding Miss Luna thoroughly uncooperative in answering further questions until she has accepted the medication to Mindmint Bugs, Miss Sarah quickly takes her leave.

Character: Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody (Ex-Auror. Paranoid as hell. Curses first, asks questions later. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!)

Hoping ex-law enforcement officer, Alastor Moody, shall be more responsible and reliable, Miss Sarah L. poses her next set of questions.
Looking upon them once more, she finds herself to be right in the assessment that it would have been an extremely bad idea to have asked them all to Lord Voldemort.
Sarah : Are your heart-to-heart talks with your partner more about sharing feelings or solving problems?
Mad-Eye: No partner. And no talks! Any information given can be used against you. Tell no one anything about your secrets! CONSTANT VIGILANCE!
…Er, right.
S: How many times during the day do you look in the mirror?
M: Don't need ta look in the mirror to see myself. My Eye can see anywhere and anything. Besides, my foe-glass mirror is used to see my foes, not myself!
Sarah heaves in a deep breath, trying not to sigh in frustration. Moving forward…
S: If as a result of injury or illness you could no longer have sex, how do you think you and your partner would handle it?
M: I’ve already told ya, gal! No partner! Relationships hinder work. Look at old man Crouch. He had ta choose between family and work. Gave everyone a hell lotta trouble. I repeat – no partner.
Unbelievably, Ex-Auror Alastor Mad-Eye Moody turns out to be even more tight-lipped than the Dark Lord himself and point blank refuses to answer any more questions of such a personal nature. Unable to deviate from her original list, Miss Sarah (reluctantly) thanks the elderly man and takes her leave.

Character: Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (Headmaster of Hogwarts. Supreme Mugwump. Grand sorcerer. Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. Brilliant. Genius. Crazy.)

Miss Sarah L.’s last resort is to approach kind and welcoming Albus Dumbledore – Harry Potter’s mentor and headmaster – in the hope that her last three questions shall be answered.
Though, perhaps, expecting decent responses from any of the people young Harry has recommended seems like an unwise thought. Nevertheless, Miss Sarah had been a Gryffindor while at Hogwarts, and pushes through her remaining questions courageously.
Sarah: Do you find that you nearly lose contact with your friends when you fall in love with someone new? How do they feel about your new partners?
Albus: Ah...what an interesting question. It reminds of one of my greatest failure in life...and an adventurous journey with an old friend. I once made the mistake of getting too absorbed and deeply involved with our goals and plans, thus neglecting my family. It is a regret that shall never leave me. Gellert was a wonderful and charming young man, but that...friendship ended for the Greater Good. *smiles and offers lemon drop*
Sarah smiles politely and refuses, inwardly thankful that the old wizard has at least answered her question thoughtfully, if cryptically.
S: Have you ever pretended to care for someone more than you really did? If so, why?
A: Life is a stage, young miss! And we are all actors playing a part. Some things do need to be done, whether the end result is positive or not. Only if young Tom had not strayed from the path of good… perhaps my pretense might have turned into truth.
Tom? Perhaps she should question no further if that is who she thinks it is…
S: If your partner completely lost their temper and starting smashing things in your home, what would you do? What if this began happening every six months or so?
A: Oh dear, a physical lash out? Well… Our first and last argument led to a tragic end... Dear Ariana forever paid the consequences of my actions.
The venerable headmaster seems to have become sad and refuses to elaborate. But, with her questions now answered, there is little point in staying for longer. It is best she left now.
With that, Miss Sarah takes her leave, cursing Harry Potter for leading her around on this wild goose chase – she received no useful replies to her questions and it is quite sure that her article shan’t be posted.
Ah well, at least the Boss will be satisfied that the “Valentine” theme was completed – even if it was not done by the Boy Who Lived.
Miss Sarah wonders, though, that just whom Harry would have directed a more vapid reporter like Rita Skeeter to?
…Bellatrix Lestrange?
Miss Sarah shudders and thanks her lucky stars, pushing the day’s events into the corner of her mind.

Is not that Alastor forgets social niceties and manners, is that he just couldn’t care less whether people likes him or not. Which only leads to him coming off as a straight up asshole on his worse days, and a paranoid grump on a daily basis. He could use someone he respects and is strong enough to call him out when he’s being a jerk. To point out where the line is, and making it clear that it is not okay to cross it. OPEN

You are only as good as the person fighting next to you. Someone Alastor had grown to respect and rely on. They might not always have a heart-to-heart about their feelings, but this is one of the few people Alastor knows he can turn to. Whether sharing drinks or just being there for each other, this is one of the few people Alastor can honestly say he trusts.

Alastor has a hard time believing anyone in their right mind would chose him as a mentor. The role of mentor and teacher coming easy to him despite originally having being appointed head of the department because there were no other options around. Alastor stepped into the role and with each passing generation he gets better at preparing aurors. Now with the order he had also taken the responsibility to get them ready for a fight he wished they never had to fight. Callous grumpy nature aside, Alastor is a mentor at heart, and sometimes even if it surprises everyone around, he might end up giving some advice to those brave enough to bring up discussing their feelings with him. Rumor says the best time to approach him is when he’s drinking, that’s when he’s more at ease, he might even pour you one. OPEN

It’s not that he lives to make enemies, that’s just something that happens from time to time. With the wizarding society hanging by a fine thread, and Alastor living up to his last name every day of the week, everyone could easily fall into this category.
