Sofia, October 2022
Last winter I started reading about 20 minutes a day. Often I did 20 minutes of studying and another 20 of leisure.
That's my reading list of the past months:
- Thich Nhat Hanh, Silence
- Nan Shephard, The Living Mountain
- Marc Andrus, Brothers in the Beloved Community
- Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Gambler
- Susan Anderson, The Journey from Abandonment to Healing
- John O'Donohue, Anam Ċara
- Lalah Delia, Vibrate Higher Daily
- Sarah Durham Wilson, Maiden to Mother
- Jack Kornfield, A Path with Heart
Currently I am enjoying to read the heartwarming Big Love by Adele Hulse, full of vibrant stories taking place in the Himalayas and packed with wisdom and compassion.

16, 21 and 23 for jack :)
Thank you!!!
16. A childhood headcanon
Jack never had many real friends, every grade he'd get a few. They've heard of his Dad, that he's got a nice house with a big TV, so they come over a few times. Until they hear Jack's dysfunctional family dynamics over dinner, or over anything, since it's just a constant stream. Maybe one of the few kids who actually likes Jack for Jack, tells his Mom that he thinks Mr. Shephard is mean. Jack's not allowed to have him over again. It's fine, Jack still makes Marc his best man.
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
This is Lost. So I'll need to dwell on this for a second. Probably a few times in his life, I think during the first few (years?) with Sarah. That off and on time with Kate and Aaron. The happiest moment in Jack's life is when he lays down by the bamboo looking up at them leaving.
23. Future headcanon
Claire's the one who buys his coffin, most of the money is from her mother, she doesn't take the settlement money for this. Not for Jack, that has to be her. It's a quiet affair, the press are at the "later" funeral, the real one is for closure. Mainly she just wanted more time, seems like Aaron has more memories with Jack then she ever will.

NSSAU: can you describe what Nathaniel, Marc and Rose' costumes look like in this universe?
uhuhhhh yeah sure
Rose's Pigella outfit looks more Sailor Moon inspired, her lil pigtails sorta, like, like curly, she has curly hair- lil ribbons everywhere.
Nathaniel and Marc constantly switch so
Rooster Bold + Caprikid basically have their canon outfits but their weapons are different
Shephard Souris + Phoenix are a bit different
Shephard has this sorta punk outfit where the horns curl around their face and their ripped jeans sorta has like, a sorta fluff coming out of it.
Phoenix has a winged cape and some like, baggy pants that tuck into his boots at around the knee with a sorta long sleeve crop top.

THIS IS NOT MY ART, THESE ARE PICREWS WITH MINOR EDITS: LINK TO PICREW HERE
Been hesitant about showing off my ocs,, that are related to main characters but ah fuck it, I love them and they don’t really bother the story.
From Left to right we have Alice Shephard, Gloria Freeman, and Isabel.
First off I wanna say, Gloria and Isabel came from me pondering ideas about the baby photo in Gordon’s locker from HL1, while the picture is just of some of the dev’s daughter. The wiki said Marc Laidlaw offered the idea of it being Gordon’s niece. Of course having a Niece/Nephew means you must have a sibling, hence Gloria was made. I named Isabel after the actual baby in the picture :) I know we love John Freeman but I wanted to make my own sibling!!
Oh and one other thing about Isabel: I decided to put her in a small group of ocs, inspired by “Gordon Freeman Saved My Life!”, I thought of like.. a Band in City 17- So there’s actually two other characters I just haven’t made picrews for yet, Viktor and Jasna, possibly a fourth guy named Neil but haven’t been certain on that one. Viktor will be based on Male_07, Jasna Female_02, and Neil Male_01.
Anywho I just made Alice cuz I really liked the concept @tantaliart had in their fanfictions, Adrian had a little sister who ended up.. joining Civil Protection! Of course that’s.. Someone else’s character so I wanted to make my own out of it, plus I had my own HCs on Adrian n stuff, that’s how Alice was born! (Please tell if this is ok, I don’t wanna be “stealing a character concept” even if they’re completely different characters in the end,, /gen)
Sorry I could go on about my ocs forever, I love these fellers,,

Youth Services System, Inc. honors Marc Abraham and Dr. DarrellCummings
Tumblr media
Each year, Youth Services System Board of Directors recognizes Good Samaritans. The Good Samaritans are honored at an annual dinner which this year will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Jill Eddy, YSS Interim Chief Executive Officer, made the announcement that Marc Abraham and Dr. Darrell Cummings would be honored at this year’s dinner. Through the work that Youth Services System does with children and adults, we know the guidance provided by these two men didn’t stop once they completed their multiple terms on the YSS board. Marc and Darrell spent three years working together from 2009- 2011 on the board and continue to work together as emeritus board members. Jill Eddy said, “Dr. Cummings and Marc Abraham are truly Good Samaritans. Their support and guidance over the years has impacted the growth and development of YSS to achieve our mission: Creating better futures for children, families and our community.” Marc Abraham has over 35 years responding to the needs of youth at YSS as a past board member with titles including Treasurer, Vice President, President and currently as an emeritus member. “Marc Abraham was as committed to YSS as our founder, Ron Mulholland,” Rod Lee, current YSS Board Chair said. In addition to the 35 years caring for local youth, Marc was an Associate Professor of Accounting with Belmont College, past owner of Abraham & Company PLLC and has been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant since 1982. “Dr. Cummings was a great fit for YSS as he’s a good shephard to all in the community, so it’s only fitting that we honor him as a Good Samaritan,” Lee said. Dr. Cummings is the pastor of the well-known Bethlehem Apostolic Temple with over 43 years of pastoral work and leadership, has served on numerous councils and committees, received awards and appointments plus dedicated time serving multiple terms on the YSS board including holding the position of Board Chair. He currently serves on the emeritus board. Ron Klug, one of YSS founding members said, “Marc always remained calm and asked great questions to help solve problems discussed during board meetings. Darrell was adamant that we help meet the basic needs of those less fortunate and was good ataddressing financial issues.” YSS has chosen to honor a Good Samaritan every year since 2008 by hosting a dinner in celebration of the honoree’s remarkable work serving local children and families. The dinner will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at River City Restaurant and Banquets in downtown Wheeling. For more information visit www.youthservicessystem.org Read the full article

Here is American Artist Shepard Fairey’s, “Electric Warrior", one of the 10-foot tall Gibson guitar art sculptures exhibited in the Gibson GuitarTown public art project in 2013. The painted guitar was inspired by Marc Bolan of T-Rex.  “I was excited to contribute to this project because I love the intersection of art and music", said Fairey. “Album covers and other music related art has been a huge inspiration for me and I always enjoy making music related art. Since it is a Gibson guitar project I created a piece inspired by Marc Bolan of T-Rex who played a Gibson. I illustrated Bolan as an iconic rock n roll archetype with a nod to vintage vinyl LP and stereo graphics. There are layers of music reference in the collaged elements on the guitar.” The works were auctioned off for charity at the close of the exhibition.

'The road ahead is now clear': New Brunswickers react to reopening plans
The Province of New Brunswick's three-phase reopening plan, announced Thursday, comes as a huge relief for many residents.
“We have come so far in this journey through the COVID-19 pandemic. The road ahead is now clear,” Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell said on Thurday.
The first phase, set to begin on June 7, eliminates mandatory isolation and testing for those travelling to New Brunswick from within Atlantic Canada and Quebec regions of Avignon and Témiscouata. Nova Scotia will not be included in the first reopening phase.
The plan is contingent on 75 per cent of the population in New Brunswick receiving their first dose of the vaxccine  and all zones must be in the Yellow Alert level.
Sackville, N.B.'s new Mayor-Elect Shan Mesheau says if cases remain low, reopening the bubble in July could be a huge relief for border communities.
“We’re closer-nit to Amherst (Nova Scotia) than we are to northern parts of New Brunswick," says Mesheau, highlighting how its economies are joined.
“We have people living in Amherst working in Sackville, and people in Sackville working in Amherst.”
Some would like to see the borders to Nova Scotia reopen earlier than July 1, which is the start date of the second phase.
Megan Mitton, MLA for Memramcook-Tantramar in New Brunswick, has been pushing to loosen restrictions for those living in border communities for months.
“I’m concerned about how it will impact the riding of Memramcook-Tantramar and cross border commuters especially. While we have June 7 and July 1 as tentative dates, there is no guarantee” said Mitton.
In the first phase, isolation requirements for cross-border, commuters and truck drivers will no longer be required.
“I think they’ll be pretty pleased,” said Jean-Marc Picard, the executive director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association.
There’s going to be a bit more time to spend with their families, less restrictions, so it’s obviously great. Not just for our industry, but for everybody,” said Picard.
However, rotational workers who are travelling outside of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Avignon, and Témiscouata will be required to isolate between five and seven days.
Nova Scotia will be able to join New Brunswick in its reopening plan beginning July 1 unless certain requirements aren’t met.
Requirements for the second phase outline that 75 per cent of New Brunswickers 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine and 20 per cent of New Brunswickers 65 and older have received their second dose.
The number of hospitalizations must also remain low and all health zones in the province must remain at the Yellow Alert level.
New Brunswick’s Minister of Health, Dorothy Shephard, says all restrictions in New Brunswick could be lifted by Aug. 2 if certain requirements are met.
The full details of New Brunswick's reopening plan are available on the government's website.
