Hey guys,

Recently I have been obsessed with wearing eyeshadow. I have got so much better at doing smokey eyes and being braver when it comes to playing with colour. Now when it comes to makeup a lot of people say your makeup is only as good as your base. Since I ran out of my trusty Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Eye Primer I decided now was the time to try a new facebase. On instagram I asked everyone what their fav eye primer was and a few people recommended trying out the Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot , £18.00, specifically the shade Painterly. Honestly everyone was raving about this as a primer so I decided now was the time to try it for myself.

I really love how easy these cream pots are to use, you can apply product with your finger tips or a brush and keep building coverage until you're happy. Using these as my eye base really does make my eyeshadow last all day, because of the formula it's like the cream grips the powder shadow and keeps it in place all day. I really want to get more shades because it's such a longwear formula

So if you're looking for a new eye base I would say to give this a go especially the shade Painterly because it's perfect for eye priming. They also have brighter colours available if you want to use the product as a cream eyeshadow instead. Like I mentioned before they are very pigmented and have a great assortment. What’s your favorite eyeshadow palettes??? And what’s your go to products you always reach for when you do your makeup??

Oof my answer to this could be infinite... Let's see...

So eyeshadow wise, I mostly make my own palettes out of MAC pan eyeshadows & other shadows that fit or can be pressed into the palettes- I tried to take a couple pictures to show what I mean:

It was easier for me since I worked as a professional to be able to arrange things how I'd need them and change colors out etc. I'm totally in love with a ton of the popular palettes out there too (like the UD Naked ones), I just haven't been able to aquire and/or play with them yet, haha.

Okay and so, go-to products for me depend a lot on what I'm going for, like just a basic motd, versus full makeup for a special event, etc. But for basically everything, I'll give some of my favorite all-time go-to products that I pretty much always use, by category:

Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer- the best primer I've found so far for under makeup. If doing no makeup, sometimes I'll use Philosophy's "The Present" which is dubbed a "clear makeup" but it works as a primer too and smooths out pores really well. The only thing with that one is if I'm/you're going to put makeup on top of it, you need to wait about 5 minutes for it to kind of set into your skin. And then for eyes. I ALWAYS use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. It's the absolute best I've found for cementing down whatever eye colors I throw on top of it!

Foundation: If I can get away with it, I love a good BB cream and MAC's works well. Some really good favorite foundations of mine, which I will warn are expensive (as is the case with several of these things, I know. I have been able to get everything either on discount or in small drams which would be the equivalent of getting a sample, which is what I recommend is to ask for samples at places like Sephora to be able to try things out)- Makeup Forever Ultra HD, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, and Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H (these are all liquid, which I prefer).

Concealer/Highlighter: My go-to liquid concealer for both undereye and redness coverup right now is Aveda's Inner Light concealer. Sometimes I'll even just use that in lieu of foundation, just a few dabs in needed areas with powder on top. Otherwise depending on what kind of coverage is needed for things like blemishes, or color correction there would be other things I'd use too but that's a good basic. And then the hype about YSL's Touche Éclat highlighter pen is very true- the stuff is ~amazing~ but very expensive. Lancôme makes a very similar highlighter pen that I use (bc I got it for free lol) but when I run out I'm going to try out cheaper highlight pens because it's looking like brands like e.l.f., NYX, Sephora, Ulta etc are getting really good at making dupes so. We shall see if I can find a new fave.

Powder: Makeup Forever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder!!! And then I've got an e.l.f. Tone Correcting Powder compact for touch ups.

Bronzer/Blush: This varies a lot depending on if I want certain colors or if I'm contouring etc but for a basic everyday, I stand by the NARS Laguna Bronzer + Orgasm Blush cheek color combo. Otherwise for different colors I love MAC blushes or if my skin is dry I'll use Stila creme blush.

From there it's the fun stuff like eye shadow and glitter and lip color and so on. A couple more general go-tos would be MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots, Aveda Black Orchid eyeliner, Lancôme Artliner liquid liner (again I've got free ones, so when I run out, I'll probably switch to NYX liquid liners which I currently use for fun colors and the Lancôme one is my basic black); Lancôme Hypnôse mascara, MAC lipliners (I'll use the Cherry one sometimes and fill in my whole lip for a classic matte red lip), e.l.f.'s brow pencil and clear brow/lash mascara to set brows.

There's a ton more I could obviously go into... sorry this is probably way longer and more detailed than you expected or wanted lol, I can really go off when it comes to makeup! I'm going to look, I think like forever ago when I first started this blog I did an ask similar to this that might have more or different additional stuff, I'm going to try and find and reblog that. Otherwise I'll leave this at this since it's starting to become a mini novel (but totally feel free to ask about more details or specifics in certain categories or whatever!)
