I sealed the painted work on my Damtoys RE2 Remake Leon's head sculpt and glossed the eyes! I'm super happy with him, once again, more so than the factory out-of-box head I received just a few days ago. Remake Leon was my first Damtoys figure I purchased, and I was disappointed when I saw him inside his box. However, I thought, maybe it's just the plastic distortion, because I didn't unbox him then. I got this head parted out from the recently released in the USA classic version. It wasn't distortion, his paint apps were as disappointing as I had feared. I was hoping that because this is a much newer release, the classic version, they would have improved the paint apps. However, they didn't! I always complain about lack of QA and QC from Hot Toys' figures, but at least their paint apps are palatable for 300USD figures. Damtoys Leon's on the other hand... >__<;;

There's a lot I can still improve on, with my repaints, the eyes are not it. They are tiny and my hands don't cooperate. I am still learning however, so i hope to improve little by little, and have no plans to stop repainting and painting as many of my 1:6 toys as I can/I'm willing to! Even if it takes me a lifetime and a half to see any real improvement, I'll continue to try my best each time! And if I fail, I'll just keep repainting the sculpts over and over, because I am stubborn and that's the reason I got them -- to customize them to my liking, even if I suck at it! Lol! (:

I added a few repetitive shots, because my camera/lighting keeps wanting to whitewash him. He's not as pale, heck, I am not pale at all and the coloring in the first photo would probably seem as though I am. He's not tanner than I am, but greyer toned, since I want him to somewhat match his Damtoys body once I have display space for his full-set figure to be unboxed. He's pretty tanned IRL though, because his body is very tanned, or at least the parted out one I got for my OG RE4 3D artist printed head, is pretty tanned and red-toned, which I guess might be factory variances. I don't mind if it's not a perfect match, since he'll always be fully dressed once displayed. I might take some more photos of him on my OG RE4's body, or the RPD uniformed one, just for fun. DX

"first I'll hide" you smile and give her a wink, get your food from the kitchen afterwards. When you come back with your bowl, she is now online.

"Wow, I didn't expect so many at once." She greets some of the people who are obviously freaking out with joy that Bella is live. You just smile.

You can't help but laugh and put your hood up, sit behind Bella's back so you're back to back and just keep eating your food.

" they really getting excited who you are" Bella says, keep looking at the screen put her arms behind herself, around your neck so you can't escape.

"I'll fix you something to eat in a minute" you try to stand up, give her a sweet bitemark without showing your face yet and go into the kitchen with your empty bowl. While preparing something for Bella to eat, the live viewers go crazy because they heard you and saw a little of what happened.

I finished repainting my Damtoys RE2-Remake Leon. I haven't sealed the work yet and haven't glossed the eyes either (obviously!). But I'm so much happier with him now, than straight from the factory. I know there's a lot of things that could have been done a lot cleaner, but I suck at painting miniatures, and I have shaky hands, so I won't bother to try to make those perfect, because I know I can't! I just don't have the steadiness needed to get a cleaner job. The right iris looks a lot bigger, but I think it's just because of how I painted the iris darker on the left. I tried fixing it but didn't get anywhere and I don't want to ruin, something I know I can't get cleaner... it's a struggle, believe me. T__T;;

The hair on the left photo is from the rooted silicone 1:2 bust by Fantasytoys, I Photoshopped it on to the bang-less head, because plasticly hair makes things look plasticly, and I feel real hair looks better most of the time. I won't bother to make a partial wig for this sculpt, because Damtoys didn't do an accurate job for this hair -- everything else is pretty good. However, they gave him wig-hair. Massive amounts of thick sculpted hair, which is not even accurate to the game, so I don't know why they did it. The bangs are wrong too, but I won't bother making a partial wig, because I can't see it looking good on this as thick as they made the sculpted hair. I would have to remove the back part which is sculpted directly onto the head, and I don't want to do that. I just rather him look plastic and less realistic, I suck at taking photos anyway, so it doesn't really matter anyway....>___>;;;

Look at me making a partial wig down the line, because I am a weirdo who loves real (synthetic fiber) hair on action figures more than sculpted hair... DX

More of my 3D-Artist resin cast 1:6 scale Leon Scott Kennedy head sculpt. I decided to "enhance" the eye area a bit further. I have extremely shaky hands, even with all the techniques that are helpful to keep hands steady when painting miniatures. My hands still shake. I can't do cleaner, sharper lines, as much as I am frustated. There's pretty much sh1t I can do about it. However, I am happier with him now. I am always complaining that his facial featuers are not as accurate, and one of the main reasons for that is because I suck at painting miniatures, but also because I am very picky when it's about accuracy of characters I love. HT version of OG RE4 Leon was so off, i didn't even considered ever owning him. Later, once he was completely sold out everywhere, I did regret it a bit. Now, I kind of don't. He's not accurate, doesn't even seem like they tried it to be.

This head is a beautiful sculpt, but not accurate and a lot of the featues are simplified so much, that it makes me wonder which original sources the aritst was referencing when 3D modeling the head.

Regardless, I am much happier with him now, that I added more detail to his eyes, and made the shape more OG RE4 Leon-esque. He has a very unique eye shape that just wasn't sculpted right. So, me, with my crappy old-person hands, have to try a thousand times harder, just to get the lines around the eye and the shading in tiny places in the eye, to look not as sloppy as I can manage, due to my shaky hands. T__T;;

The last repetitive extreme close ups were taken with my older-than-dust cellphone's camera, because it takes photos that look more accurate lighting and color wise. My newer cell's makes things look extremely pixelated and "glam" as my bff calls, them, like it makes him seem like he's wearing mascara, which is not what he looks like IRL, nor do I want him to look that way. Simply because it's not accurate, and accuracy is more important to me than anything and everything else. When it comes to characters I love and want to own figures of.

I placed the black basic T-shirt this RE4 clothing set came with. It's pretty old, so the jacket is starting to disintegrate. I never owned anything like it before, so it's way more frustrating than anything. The original RE4 Leon's jacket is probably one of the most nostalgic aspects of the game, for most anyone who has ever played the game and loves Leon. I'm sure I'll never be able to find anything close, so it's kind of highly disappointing. There's no way in h3ll I would ever be able to attempt sewing something like that. Finding the fabric was a nightmare when I was hopeful a million years ago, when I was still young and adventurous. Now that I'm a much-older-old-fart, I don't even contemplate it. I will be attempting his tactical 5.11 top, although neoprene in under 1mm is probably not a thing and I'll have to settle for whatever other material looks rubbery but not shiny like vinyl. DX

More of my Damtoys RE2R (classic ver.) Leon repainted head sculpt, wearing my other Leon's R.P.D. uniformed body. I color corrected the ones from my old (crusty) cellphone. I like how despite this one not always cooperating, it at least doesn't add a thousand pounds of noise on the face. Making it look like I gave Leon sandpaper for skin. DX

These are the ones I took that other time I posted. I just color-corrected some of them a bit, because my cell phone is old, and the camera doesn't cooperate most of the time now. I'm still super happy with him and might be considering making a partial wig for him, now more than ever! I might try to touch up his sculpted hair first (with paint!). We'll see. (;

The last one is my newer cell phone's, but I like it because of how glowy and creepy the eyes look -- I love dark and creepy things...

My Damtoys Remake Leon repainted head sculpt, borrowing my OG-RE4 Leon's bodies. Yes, my OG Resident Evil 4 Leon has many bodies, because I feel that if he needs seven, he'll get seven of them. Not because I am a lazy bum who would rather not undress and redress the bodies with the appropriate clothes, of course...DX

I never in a million years would have guessed I would love this head sculpt half as much as I love it right now! I'm thrilled I decided to finally get a parted out sculpt to repaint. I always wanted to but kept putting it off because the original Remake one was going for so much more than what I am willing to pay for this head sculpt. However, I was lucky I was able to find the classic version in-stock when I did, for a decent price. (:

He is wearing the OG Resident Evil 4 version of the RPD uniform, as I haven't been lucky to get the DAMtoys classic Leon's RPD uniform yet. The first Damtoys Remake release is quite different (as it is in the game), however, I don't need a second of those. I already own the full-set figure, which is still sealed, and I have no current plans to unbox until I have the display room to get him out of the box. Then I'll display that figure with this head. In the meantime, I don't mind photographing this one on borrowed Leon's bodies, or others (my Ken has a suitable Damtoys body as well, luckily!). =^.^=

The first photos are my newer cellphone's work -- it adds so much noise/pixelation, I don't like using it for that reason. And the colors are off, but I think I am getting better using it, so I'll keep doing so. The last four, kind of monotone reddish cast ones rae my old cellphone, which wasn't really cooperating but are "cleaner" sharper images, somehow. DX

More of my Leon S. Kennedy repaint work. Now, it's my DAMtoys RE2 Remake Leon. I got the classic version head sculpt, parted out specifically to repaint him. Just a few days ago, actually. I was hoping this one would have better/nicer paint apps than the regular release, that I got when that one came out a few years ago. However, from what I saw (I haven't unboxed mine due to lack of display space) in his box, this one isn't nicer/cleaner/precise nor accurate to the prototype. Factory paint wise. At least the particular head I got, doesn't seem all that cleaner, or even close to the prototype. I don't doubt the prototype had better photographer, as I am not one by any stretch of the imagination. However, I'm pretty certain the prototype had better paint apps in general than what we got in box/actual-figure-release.

I want my Leon to look like a mixture of Remake and the hyper-realistic Fantasytoys 1:2 Leon bust. When I saw that bust for the first time my jaw dropped to the floor! It's a gorgeous rendition of Remake Leon, so of course I wanted to repaint my Damtoys figure for a long time, ever since. I just was too lazy to unbox him just to get his head sculpt out. The Remake first release head sculpt was going for too much by that time, but now that I got a chance to get a parted out classic version, since it just recently released in the USA. I was able to get a second HS to repaint, without having to unbox mine! Yay! And for not an eye off the face, like the first release is going for nowadays.

I can f-this one up all day, and not worry about regretting it later. Lol! I still need to clean his eyes, brows and lips a bit further, and I want to make him a touch tanner, since the parted Damtoys Remake Leon's body I got from the first release is a lot darker tanned, leaning towards sunburnt. My repaint doesn't look quite as tanned IRL, as he appears in my crap-photos, but his original factory paint was a lot darker tanned, and grayish. More so than the parted-out body (more gray, not tanner). I won't be using that body for him, however, since I do own the whole Remake figure, I will be displaying that full-set figure with this repainted head, once I get more display space/detolfs... who knows when that will happen. >___>;;

I repainted my 3D-artist-resin-cast 1:6 scale Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt, for the millionth time! DX I knew I was going to do so eventually; I was just hoping to not f-up again. Which, I kind of think I might have done, again! Fortunately, I feel like I have discovered a way to make him look more accurate, without being wasteful (of MSC, which is toxic, expensive and a pain in the gut to get). I always considered watching a tutorial or two, about how to paint realistic 1:6 action figures, since way back in the day when 1:6 started getting more realistic looking head sculpts and facial paint apps. I even attempted adding pigmented skin texture to some of my DIM Minimee. However, I was doing that with pastels, with small amounts of acrylic paint for just the line work. Which can be heavy and get really “make-up-like’ for my taste. That’s why I thought why not watch a tutorial now, since I was also looking for tutorials on how to gloss eyes properly. I found it’s pretty much what I’ve been doing (the glossing the eyes part), but my terrible shaky hands are huge handicap, that I’ll probably always mess that up.

The painting is so much easier than anything, but it does take a million watered down layers. I don’t know if should be getting model-grade paints, instead of using my artist-grade Liquitex, which might be too saturated and viscous for this kind of paint work? I don’t know, the artist whose tutorial I saw used only model-grade paints, so I am not certain. From the little bit I found on google searches, it seems any acrylic paint will work but the model-grade paints are more like water, than what Liquitex is like and going from the video, they are a lot less saturated/pigmented as well. Oh well, I’ll settle for what I have for now.

Regardless, I was able to get my Leon to look somewhat closer to what I always envisioned him looking like. I’m not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, and not even remotely good at this yet, but I hope that with the little bit I was able to learn, I’ll improve the next time I try repainting him again. I am kind of tempted to get more 1:6 action figures heads to attempt repainting, however, I am not into real people and those are the only heads that are popular in the 1:6 genre of figures. That or 3D printed unlicensed massed produced heads, which I am not okay with. It’s one thing to commission an individual to make a fan-art version for a small number of people, and another to mass produce every single character from a single brand’s licenses (squareenixfinalfantasycharacters), without even blinking. DX

I am fine with repainting this head as many times as it takes, as I have mentioned before, I just wish I didn’t suck as much at tiny miniature work. So that I could get to the point I will feel satisfied with him, sooner. I took a million photos, so I do believe I like him a lot better already! I can’t wait until I can feel like trying again! Which will probably be sooner than later, you never know when you’ll kick the bucket and that’ll be that! Lol! (: My cell phone that is older than dust, but takes “nicer” photos was dying, so I took most of these with my newer cell phone that takes sharper photos, but less pleasant to the eyes (IMHO). The last two were taken with my old-cell phone, I feel they show the texture a lot better. Although he’s not quite as tomato red, IRL.

He’s not wearing his black shirt that came with this set because I am planning on attempting to recreate the game’s version of the 5.11 tactical shirt that HT made. I am also not wanting to have to remove any stains on the body, as it is partially painted on the upper torso. This body is the Damtoys RE2R Leon’s body, so it’s pretty large, but the head is so big, it makes it look tiny....Lol! I am still angry that the head sculpt was made to be so large. From some angles, you can even see a huge gap at the nape of the neck, because the head is so freaking massive. T__T;;

I got even more Leon photos to share! I finally felt it was time to dress him up, in his OG RE4 outfit. I was waiting until I felt like I had gotten him looking as accurate to his video game self, as possible by my terrible (shaky) hands. I thought this was the right time. Sadly, or rather as it was expected, I f-ed-up the irises. I was trying so hard to fix every tiny flaw I saw that I ended up doing what I feared the most, which was to screw the irises. Which took me so long to get “right.” Or at least at a semi decent point where I thought they were “okay.” Not to change them any further, and yet, here we are. I messed them up badly! Beyond saving, I am afraid. All thanks to what I dread doing the most at this tiny scale -- glossing the eyes!

Oh well, I’ll have to attempt partially removing the gloss from the irises alone, and hope it works well enough, that I can keep the rest of the eye area repaint intact. I at least hope I don’t mess anything else even more, or worse to start from zero once again. I have repainted this head sculpt so much already; it’s just irritating me, that I suck at tiny miniature work, more than it frustrates me now. I am very angry at myself, to say the least. T___T;;;

I don’t own any of his tactical gear from the game, because I thought the Hot Toys version of the figure wasn’t good looking enough for me to justify his cost at the time of release (in every sense of the meaning). I did regret my decision after he was sold out, but I do feel it is not a good-looking figure now, nor then. More than anything, I thought it did (OG) RE4 Leon no justice. I do still regret not getting it then, so I could at least own all the accessories, weapons and tactical stuff, which is going to be a pain in the gut-hole, finding or making myself. I got this outfit as a set, with the shirt (I didn’t recall if it had one), but it is not the 5.11 tactical shirt Leon wears in the game, nor the (not accurate) one HT RE4 Leon came with, so I am going to have to attempt making that was well, someday... I had already tried with other(s) custom 1:6 Leon(s) I was working on, and it was dreadful to say the least.

The set didn’t come with anything more than the pants/belt, shirt and jacket. So, he’s wearing shoes I got that are exactly what he is wearing with his RPD outfit in the RE4 version, of that from the RPD set I purchase at the same time I got this one. I doubt I’ll ever find the RE4 main outfit shoes, they seem extremely particular to RE4 Leon, and no other figure I’ve ever seen has anything similar. I don’t believe I’ll ever be able to get the authentic HT ones, so I’ll probably settle for not owning them.

Here’s the rest of the photos I took of my Leon, borrowing my repainted Ken Looks body. I am still planning on making his 5.11 tactical shirt, so I haven’t placed any tops on what I feel will be his “default” body, so I borrowed this body to take these photos. After my last touchup on this head sculpt, I sealed the work and accidentally damaged the paint apps around his upper eyelids. Luckily, I was able to salvage it. So I wanted to take photos of the completed work, once sealed before I accidentally damage it again... >__>;;

I am going to be repainting him again for sure, eventually, because I know I suck at painting miniature 3D faces. However, I don’t want to do that before I am ready. I don’t feel I am ready right now. I just discovered that I love this head sculpt, something I wanted to feel when I originally purchased it but wasn’t able to honestly have that emotion towards it. There are things that could have been done differently, as well as he could have been made a lot smaller of a head. However, now I am at a point where I can see the Leon I always wanted, despite anything else that could have gone wrong. I just need to get better at painting tiny faces -- which is something that’s probably going to take me a lifetime to achieve (as an old-fart, I don’t know if I’ll ever get there, but I will try!). DX

I am super happy with him now, knowing this is not the best he could look, due to my lack of painting skill at this scale. I have been a traditionally trained artists my whole life this far, but my shaky hands and other issues, never prepared me for tiny work. Lol! I am happy to try as many times as I am able to however, so I am looking forward to improving (hopefully!), even if I have to take baby steps right now. Next, I’ll try to actually purchase hair to make his new partial wig, and hopefully find some suitable fabric to make his tactical 5.11 shirt, which cannot be made out of neoprene because he wouldn’t be able to move his arms at all. The thinnest I’ve found the material at is 1mm, Wich is sadly too thick for this scale of a figure.

I love how this head is looking so much, I took some extra extreme close ups, despite this camera adding a ton of harsh pixelation, making the texture appear a lot more severe than it is IRL, but I think I am learning how to use this “newer” cell phone’s camara, very slowly. The only actual camera I own is no longer able to take any photos at all, and I am a bit scared of getting a new one, because I fear it will be exactly as this cell phone’s one, adding a ton of pixelation where it doesn’t need to due to the higher definition aspect of it. Sadly, my older cell phone’s camera is also apparently on its last legs, so it only takes semi-decent photos whenever it feels like it now but doesn’t add the million unwanted pixelation like this one does. Of course, I suck at taking photos, more than anything else, so it’s not the cameras fault, but my own lack of skill whatsoever, at taking photos. T__T;;;

More of my Leon S. Kennedy 1:6 head sculpt. I thought that I wanted to wipe this head’s paint apps and start all over again, whenever I felt like working on him again. However, my bff suggested me trying to add to it first, since I can just add acrylics to it, without using fixative of any sort, and then seal the work if I am happy or wipe it off if I am not liking the end results. Without much of a waste really, because I use literal drops of paint to do this head’s paint apps. I water down the acrylics so much, just a drop of each color is enough, and some blending mediums.

So, I went and made the pigmented texture somewhat more subtle and also cleaned up his eyebrows further, and even dared to add eyelashes. LOL! I know I shouldn’t try, but it’s just something I need on my humanoid head sculpts. Even if I f-up all the time!

I am quite happy I decided to listen to my bff. I can honestly say, I am in love with this head now! I loved the idea of the head sculpt but didn’t love the things that weren’t right or could have been done differently to make it more accurate IRL, not just from some angles. If it were the younger me, I know I would have gone to town, with sandpaper in-hand and modified every little detail I found “wrong.” Which might have been a terrible idea, but I might have stuck with it to the end, and not minded back then. Now I can see that paint really does cover a world of hurt. DX

It’s not the best work in the world, but I am not a pro-1:6-customizer, nor miniature painter, I am just a humble hobbyist, who enjoys customizing my own toys, to my liking. Maybe in the future, I will repaint him again from zero. But for now, I am okay with how he looks, and I’ve never been gladder that I own this head. Even if it was a pain in the gut hole, the whole thing. I am still not happy that he’s a giant-head, but there’s nothing I can do about that. I’ll just have to love the head for what it is and hope I can make him my dream version of an OG RE4 Leon S. Kennedy 1:6 action figure, before I kick the bucket! Lol! (:

I need to get tinier, pointier brushes, to attempt bottom eyelashes, the next time I repaint him! If only those were easy to find for a vegan person, in-store, so I can check for actual size. >___<;;; The last image is what he looks like now in the first photo, the middle photo is what I started with from my previous to this repaint, then the last is right before I painted lashes. The lighting is terrible in all, and very different, but you can still see the changes well enough (IMHO).

My July 2023 haul arrived! Along with a parted out DAMtoys RE2R Leon S. Kennedy (Classic ver) head sculpt I purchased specifically to repaint. I'm super happy with the Cloud statue, he's gorgeous, very close to the prototype except the eyes appear to be pixelated, but that's kind of standard now for SE's figures, so no surprise. He's beautiful looking nonetheless, and despite them loving giving Cloud uncooked pasta-looking hair. The prototype didn't have that semi-translucent-glossy finish, so I wasn't expecting it, but they do so for most of their figures it seems.

Very small haul, but due to Cloud's box, it was quite expensive to ship. I am not thrilled… T___T;; I am happy with the figures, regardless and the acrylic stand. I love Odin Sphere, I played the OG release on my fat PS3, but I'm trying to avoid hoarding the figures, because they are mostly the girls and the Oswald one was way too big to ship without losing an eye. Might get it one day! Lol!

Some photos I took of my Leon, using my super old cell phone’s camera. It’s not the best lighting ever, but I liked these ones enough to post a set of them. I will share some more I took with my “newer” cell phone’s camera later. He’s borrowing my repainted Ken Looks body, it’s a DAMtoys body just like his, wich is the RE2R Leon’s body. However, this one appears to have a thicker neck. It might just be my imagination, but I like it, if the neck is really wider! (:
