Watched ep 7 to 11 of Spy Classroom and I forgot how good this anime was, definitely another underrated gem of an anime. I want to give Grete a hug too, she's so precious and I really love all the Lamplight members and Klaus.

My Thoughts on “Spy Classroom” Thus Far

Spoilers ahead!! Since the new episode is coming out today lol!!

When I first found out that Spy Classroom was coming out as an anime adaption, I was pleasantly surprised by the casting of seiyuus!! I didn’t know it had a manga until I saw it up on here, but I happen to recognize most of the seiyuus playing some of the characters!! That was my #1 reason. I thought episode 1 was a good way to kick off the series,, 7 (cough cough.. I mean “8”) spies from the country, coming together to do an “impossible mission” with the help of their instructor, Klaus by trying to defeat him,, Except.. the two episodes afterwards throws that out the window. Especially episode three where it turns out, all they apparently had to do was steal this “glass doll” but.. Oh No! Klaus mentor is stopping them from doing so!!

This is what got me really upset the most.. the fight scene Lamplight had with him. I don’t even wanna call it a fight. The mentor is WAYY too OP. I get it, he’s supposed to be a really good spy, but NOTHING SEEMED TO KILL THIS MAN. NO ATTACKS FROM THE OTHER GIRLS STOPPED HIM, NOT EVEN LILY’S POISON, AND NOT EVEN A STAB TO THE BACK FROM THE 8TH MEMBER, ERNA. It made him pass out for like, “1 second”, It made me so pissed. I was expecting it to be more action packed, I wanted to see if the others had any special abilities like Lily but no, it was the most underwhelming, enraging fight scene I saw and the only thing that truly stopped him was fucking Klaus. And that brings me to my next point, the others girls.

Unlike Lily, we don’t know much about them yet. We don’t have any substance to these characters other than their surface-level personalities and basic interactions with Lily. I would absolutely LOVE to see some character development with them and learn about them more and see what kind of cool special abilities they have.. Like Lily! Who attacks with poison and it doesn’t affect her!

I’m very sad the first “big arc” in the series had to be rushed into 3 episodes with an unsatisfying ending, because that could’ve been a whole season! We could’ve had some character development for the others and not just Lily! Maybe some cool fight scenes, and then at the end, we could have the big showdown with the mentor and then the reveal of the 8th member, and boom! That would’ve been something that could’ve been a great show!

So, in conclusion, will I still watch this show? Yes. I don’t really wanna drop it just yet. Maybe I just have hope that the rest of the episodes will hopefully make up for the first 3 episodes. I will give this show a chance, and if I am unhappy by the end of it I’ll talk about it!

Who’s Barth?

  Captain Welter Barth is the Captain of the Military Intelligence Department. With origin and citizenship of Din he is a man loyal to his nation.He’s 24 years old, and with a body rigorously trained reaching strength,he takes his job as a captain seriously and scoffs directly anyone who disregards the power level of Din’s military.

In fact he senses that any spy team,with Lamplight particularly,gets to much praise for their work -while the soldiers and military officers risk their lifes on the war front.He’s a man of action,also an understanding* one who uses his rhetoric skills to boost the spirits of fellow soldiers.

He and Klaus have known each other a long ago,they don’t get along!

*He has a sixth sense on sensing the troubles up ahead,thus he read the malice coming from while Annette: "There is a great evil at work here, Bonfire--someone so wicked their soul is twisted to its core."
