my least favorite "we covered this song but changed the words to make it not gay" example is the cleverlys' version of "i kissed a girl" by katy perry. which i think was actually MORE egregious because they didn't actually change the words, but every single time they got to the line with the words "my boyfriend" the whole thing ground to a halt as every single person on stage stopped playing and singing to look around in exaggerated confusion like huHHH? what? bOyFrIeNd???? but we're all dudes o_O and it was straight up the most aggravating thing I'd ever seen.
