Here’s the first that came to mind: This one is a little moment and I mention it now because I’ve got 4x22 on my mind, because I’ve been thinking about Luke and Lorelai’s kiss as inspo for my fanfic. The scene in question is the moment during the test run when they’ve just eaten dinner and are playing games. Lorelai is checking on things and she keeps her eyes on Luke and he has his on hers and ahhhhh there is so much love, admiration and attraction in that look that it never fails to make my heart go all giddy at how adorable they are! And I think that’s what I love about it because for A LOT of the show we see how much Luke is smitten with Lorelai and in this episode we finally see just how much Lorelai really likes Luke. Not that we didn’t all know that already, but it’s nice that it’s finally being shown in this level.

what do you think of miklan and sylvain canonically being half brothers

(First off, this is the first time I’ve been asked opinion stuff before and you’ve made my day so thank you!)

Okay! This actually threw me off a bit when I learned of it in hopes because I, like most people I think, was under the assumption that they were full blooded brothers just because of how similar they look.

I really like the lore of it though! I think it gives both boys, and their father, a lot more depth and us a better understanding of why they are the way they are.

I think having Sylvain be Miklan’s half-brother could be another way for Miklan to really dissociate when it comes to his actions against Sylvain as a kid: “Well that’s not my ‘real’ brother, so it’s fine.” (It’s not fine.)

I do think it does more for Miklan than it does Sylvain though. Sylvain never speaks of Miklan like he’s “just a half sibling.” He says after Miklan died “that brother of mine sure was something” and references him as just “his brother” multiple times throughout both games. To me, that just makes it seem as Sylvain didn’t care about the blood difference between them (which makes sense because Sylvain always wanted to get along with Miklan and be brothers, and as a man who thinks his entire self-worth is based on his blood…of course he wouldn’t want to place that on his brother). I also think that as the “half-sibling coming in” Sylvain is obviously more inclined to shrug the fact off, whereas Miklan is more likely to see Sylvain and his mother, who I call Phelan, as replacements or as them “butting-in.” I think the most it does for Sylvain is add more to his relationship to his own parents (but that’s a whole other story that I’m happy to talk about).

I also can’t separate them being half-brothers and the story of Miklan’s mom, so forgive me. But it also adds that additional layer of disaster to Miklan’s childhood. Not only did Sylvain “take his place” by having happened to be born with a crest, but before that, his mother and unborn sibling died, and Matthias canonically went through a (relatively large) personality shift following the event. It’s hard enough to lose a parent, especially at an age where you might not understand exactly what that means, but to essentially, in a large way, lose your father as you knew him? Talk about life upside down. (This in no way excuses his behavior towards Sylvain, obviously)

Basically (because I can go on forever about my favorite boys and their trauma), I like the depth it adds. I think it fleshes Miklan out more and gives a very interesting insight to both Gautier brother’s childhoods.

Oh, absolutely! I have a mix of both novel and fanfiction writers as influences.

Dean Kootz and Jim Butcher with their quirky yet relatable protagonists have been a great inspiration (Highly recommend reading "Odd Thomas" and "The Dresden Files")

As for my tumblr inspirations, originally I read works by @saradika and @galacticgraffiti. Those two were my initial push to start posting in the first place. Although I'm terrible at talking with people (I just get awkward real quick), my inspiration has shifted to seeing how my peers create and if I see something I like I want to try to do it with my own spin. To have the tenacity to be prolific in a multi-chapter fic like @photogirl894, perhaps the vision and the courage to put yourself out there like @techs-stitches, and to one day gain the notoriety like @tech-deck and so many others far above me....it's goals. Every time I read a fic that was just amazing, I start looking at what really pulled me in and how might I use what I read to help me get better.
