IDENTITY TRUMPS MORALITY
Tumblr media
Kristie Higgs was a pastoral assistant at Farmor’s School in Fairford, Glouscestershire. Pastoral assistants are poorly paid and low on the educational totem pole, but without them our school system would be even worse than it already is. Kristie’s work was to provide emotional support and care for the most needy and troubled students in the 1,000-pupil secondary school. She was dedicated to her…

Christian teacher fired for posting petition against transgender issues reveals abuse she received

Teaching assistant Kristie Higgs’s devotion to her Christian faith was matched only by her dedication to her job.
She is no evangelist, but believed one complemented the other – her role, after all, was to provide emotional support and care for the most needy and troubled students in a 1,000-pupil secondary school.
It was a job the mother-of-two cherished and carried out for seven unblemished…

Under new counsel on relationships and sex education the English government has decided that students should be taught about LGBt relationships in secondary schools. Shortly after at their annual conference in liverpool, members of the National Education Union voted to strengthen relationships and sex education guidance and mae teaching about LGBT relationships required at all stages of school.
Kristie Higgins, a Christian secondary school assistant at Gloucestershire academy, was fired after posting a petition online against LGBT issues taught at her child’s primary school. A disciplinary panel also found that she was guilty of discriminating against gay, lesbian, and transgender students. This all started when the school complaining that higgs was “posting homophobic and prejudiced views”. Higgs has removed her son from the No Outsiders program, a program at her child’s school that teaches students about LGBT issues, because she is concerned about the effect learning about sex and gender in school from a young age will have on her child and other children.  Higgins is now taking legal action against the school citing unfair dismissal and discrimination as why. More than 115,000 people have signed a parliamentary petition opposing the new relationships and sex education curriculum that is scheduled to be introduced in 2020. The chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, Andrea Minichiello Williams, advocated for Higgs stating that the school not only ruined Kristie’s Career but her life because as of now she will never be able to work with children again, something she has dedicated her life to, all over one complaint. Damian Hinds, the education secretary, stated that although parents have every right to be concerned about the curriculum their children are being taught they shouldn’t have the right to veto what the school does and doesn’t teach because the decision is ultimately up to the school.
