Caitlin & Cisco fake dating AU. In which Cisco just uses Caitlin as his fake girlfriend to avoid dealing with his family because they like her more than him and he's still working on trying to get his brother away from their crappy parents. And Caitlin uses Cisco as a fake boyfriend to avoid dealing with explaining to her mother that aromanticism is a thing and Ronnie was the only person she'd ever felt anything remotely like romance for and he's unfortunately quite dead these days. Her mom would never understand, never mind that Carla never moved on from her own husband, Caitlin's gotta have 'somebody' in her life.
Anyway. No one who is aware of what's really going on expects them to hook up in the end because they all know better. (Julian never learns that they're not dating because Caitlin was flattered but not interested and it was easier to say she was dating Cisco than deal with a guy who hears 'I'm single' and thinks that he's still got a chance. Ralph is later confused for a bit but thinks it's actually a great setup once he figures it out.)
So when Cisco starts dating Kamilla he realizes that a.) he has to stage breaking up with Caitlin for his family before presenting them with Kamilla (Dante being in the know now thinks this is hilarious), b.) resign himself to the fact his parents will never forgive him for breaking up with Caitlin for Kamilla and he has unwittingly sabotaged Kamilla's chances for his parents to like her (at least Dante is moving out soon and if his parents are too awful he can just... finally cut contact with them), and c.) explain all of this to Kamilla because he does intend to keep being Caitlin's fake boyfriend for dealing with Caitlin's mother.
Kamilla hears all of this, thinks it's hilariously adorable, and presents the 'obvious' solution. Tell Cisco's parents - and Caitlin's mother for bonus entertainment points - that they're all dating. Kamilla likes Caitlin a lot, this could be a lot of fun. Her own parents can be told the actual truth because they're laid back and fiercely enjoy passive aggressively screwing with shitty parents anyway, so they'll be 100% backing the fake poly relationship all the way.
Cisco - I love you.
Kamilla - I know. :D
Caitlin loves this idea very, very much. And is looking forward, for a change, to her mom's next visit.
I could see this going the QPR route eventually because I do love Caitlin ~ Cisco, but it doesn't have to. It's just... such a fun little idea I had and needed to share immediately.

Summary:
Being a superhero comes with a lot of trauma and loss. Loving an ex-superhero means going through it with them. Kamilla didn't know just what she was signing up for when she started dating Cisco, but she's ready to face anything that comes their way--even if it means losing a little sleep now and again.
Chapter Preview:
"So," she began tentatively, "do you wanna talk about it?" Cisco turned his head toward her again, coming out of his reverie. "About what?" he asked absently. Kamilla gave him a knowing look. "About why that nightmare had you looking more scared than I've ever seen you—or anyone—look before?" Cisco did not break eye contact, but nor did he answer right away. His expression changed to one of careful consideration, and he took a deep breath—slowly, drawing it out like he hoped she wouldn't notice. After a bout of hesitation, he licked his lips and lightly bit down on the lower one. "It's…a lot."
Also available on fanfiction.net.
Many thanks to @fictionandmusic for betaing this for me, and to @kara-night-light for your continued interest and patience while I was writing this. I hope the finished product is worth the wait. One chapter down, four more to go!

EDIT: No idea why 'trust no one' is one Bart's section. It's not supposed to be. The Flash tag yourself chart! And yes, I know a few characters were left out. I have brain fog from a chronic condition. I will also try to make one for the legends characters I missed from last time.

Little intro post for an OC I’ve been kicking around for a while:
Tumblr media
Name: Reyna “Rey” Cynthia Ramon
Fandom: The Flash
Birthday: January 9th, 2019
Family/Relationships: Cisco Ramon (father, primary guardian), Kamilla Hwang (stepmother, also primary guardian), Cynthia “Charmer” Reynolds (mother), Nora West-Allen (best friend, love interest)
Faceclaim: Nicole Muñoz
Bio: Reyna was a surprise to both her parents, born in January 2019…but despite that, there was never any doubt that despite her parents no longer being together, they loved her more than anything.
Things got complicated after Crisis, though…especially after Reyna’s powers manifested. Cynthia and Cisco had more than a few fights—Cynthia wanted Reyna to become a Collector, protecting her from Earth-1’s anti-meta laws, while Cisco refused to let Cynthia deny Reyna a normal life. So instead, Cisco, with the powers he’d kept for his daughter’s sake, trained her to control her powers and gave her Caitlin’s old necklace to make up the difference. And for years, Kamilla raised Reyna, with Cisco popping up every once in a while to visit.
It was a few years later in primary school when she met Nora West-Allen, born only a year after her (January 2020)—a girl she briefly remembered from a few fuzzy memories of before-Crisis. Nora vaguely remembered her the same way, and the girls hit it off, inseparable from then on. Little did they know that they would change each other’s lives forever.

But actually Iris and Kamilla had such a good friendship, and there was just such an ease whenever they interacted with each other… like these were two characters who clearly gelled well, personality-wise and really cared about each other. Their dynamic was so, so good, and Candice and Victoria had such good chemistry together and clearly loved working together, and yet the show did not capitalize on growing and developing this friendship so much more when Kamilla was still on the show. It would’ve been nice to see them go for coffee and chat about work and their personal lives and everything in between. I just wanted them onscreen together so much more- the little scenes that we got in the Mirrorverse and all that were great, but not nearly enough. Could have had such a cute best friendship between them, honestly.

77. Cisco, Kamilla, and Ralph at Frost‘s Funeral (The Flash Season 8)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The worst thing about the Funeral-Episode was that they showed us the whole room along with every single person in attendance and therefore showed us very cleary that none of the guest stars, who weren’t there, actually could have been there after all. It’s bad enough no one from the other shows showed up, but why would Cisco not show his face a the funeral of his best friend‘s sisters? I know having guest stars pop in is not as easy as one would imagine, but there is no reason in-story why Cisco, Ralph (who was actually closer with Frost then most of the other characters and also very close with Caitlin) and Kamilla would not be at this funeral. I mean, even Iris, who was at this point of the storyline actually making people disappear by being near them (!!!), came to this funeral. So why should non-timesick-people not be there? Which is why it would have been a good idea to just pretend they were there. TV Shows do it all the time: „Person XY is over there, you just missed them.“ They could just have not shown the whole room and everyone in attendance and menton Cisco, Kamilla and Ralph in a scene. But appearantly as it was Season 8, that was too much to ask for.

Unpopular/Popular Opinion: Cisco and Kamilla should have stayed on the Flash and Kamilla should have been given more screentime
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
So real world, I think Carlos made the best choice for himself leaving the show. The writing was starting to go pretty strongly downhill in large part due to a showrunner who favors his OCs over the existing cast and would make promises about upcoming story arcs that were only true if you kind of tilted your head and squinted. He's done pretty well for himself since, having been in Gaslit and Up Here and getting to stretch his acting chops with characters different from Cisco. It doesn't look like Victoria's gotten quite as much acting work since leaving the Flash, but hopefully she landed on her feet after leaving the Flash too. I'd certainly love to see her in something again sometime.
But setting the real world aside, for the show losing Cisco and Kamilla was definitely a bad choice. Cisco was the heart of Team Flash. He was the one who, repeatedly, held the team together when things got hard. He connected the most easily with everyone else on the team and he had a history with Barry, Iris, Caitlin, and Frost that can't be replaced. Kamilla, in turn, was the first real friend Iris had been allowed by the writers since Linda Park. Iris is friends with Cisco, yes, but he's Barry's friend first and foremost. And the show has repeatedly squandered Iris & Caitlin and Iris & Frost. Despite calling itself out on that very problem. Kamilla was Iris' friend and equal and it was nice watching them both hang out and work together.
Without Cisco, Barry's isolated from the rest of Team Flash (except Caitlin, but they were never as close as he was with Cisco and, whoops, now she's dead) because he's their boss. And Iris is isolated from Khione, Cecile, and Allegra because her relationships with those three never really get any real development.
Having more focus time on Kamilla would have been great. To see her friendship with Iris develop further - the struggle with being best friends while also boss and employee would have been an interesting point to focus on. Contrast that with Cisco and Barry's relationship. I could see Kamilla talking to Cisco about it and trying to figure out how to balance it all.
But also showing more development of Kamilla and Caitlin's friendship and that leading to Iris and Caitlin finally spending more time together and getting to know each other better. (Let Iris have lady friends, please let her have lady friends.)
Cisco mentoring Chester would have been interesting to see more of (or any of) too. S1 had Cisco as the prodigious student, S2 and S3 saw Cisco coming into his own and growing beyond needing a mentor, and S4 and S5 placed Cisco as having gained the confidence to consider himself an expert in his fields of science and an experienced hero in his own right - not a sidekick. So developing on that, having him pass on what he's learned and take pride in being a mentor - working through lingering issues about Eobard in the process, perhaps - would have been an interesting arc to take for both him and Chester.
Unfortunately I don't know that the show runners really knew what to do with Cisco as his powers developed. Comics Vibe was incredibly powerful and nerfing Cisco on the show was definitely a mistake, the lead up to which made it seem like Cisco was being written out then in S5 and certainly made Carlos' eventual decision to leave two seasons later unsurprising. So I think we lost out on a lot of interesting story arcs for Cisco and for Kamilla because of the decision to take away Cisco's powers.

kamilla hwang fans i summon you. if you don't know, in earth-prime comics, kamilla takes up a job at argus as a training coordinator. now, it's been a bit since i last saw good-bye vibrations, so perhaps that was already stated there, but, isn't- wasn't one of the reasons that kamilla wanted to leave central city because she wanted more opportunities to go pro with her photography? going from newspaper photography to special ops seems like a... drastic career change, especially for kamilla, i don't... does that even make sense for her character, kamilla hwang fans?

A Miracle
Cisco wouldn't have left anyone lost in the middle of the street, even without Nora and Bart telling him he had to help.
He didn't expect to find pigeons trying to clean the kitchen. (G, 459 words)
The Flash (TV 2014)
[Cisco Ramon, Kamilla Hwang], Nora West-Allen, Bart West-Allen
@writersmonth day 24 word prompt: bow; setting prompt: fantasy au
"What," Cisco said, staring at all the animals in the front room. Mostly pigeons.
Bart was surrounded by rats and mice and Cisco rushed over to pick him up.
"Uncle Cisco," Bart whined.

How dare they give my “Kamilla blitzes Thawne when he has Cisco backed into a corner” fantasy to Allegra and Chester.
Of course, Kamilla was gonna use a gun. And shoot him in the head, ‘cause we’re applying the Heroes life hack of healing-powers-can’t-help-you-if-your-brain-can’t-work here. And Thawne was gonna be doing the hand thing again—you know, something that would actually have the audience tense, thinking maybe he was gonna kill Cisco for good this time, and paralleling the season 1 finale when he had Barry cornered until Eddie shot himself. Instead of being the dollar store recycle of “Thawne killing the tech nerd who lives to tell the tale and then discovers he has powers”.
The other option was Barry being the one who was cornered again and Cisco being the one to come to his rescue and end Thawne, which would’ve made more sense thematically speaking. It would give Barry his big final showdown with Thawne, just with the twist of Cisco getting the last word. But I still liked the idea of Kamilla doing it, because, in the perfect world where everyone important is present and everyone on Team Flash gets tasks in the final episode that actually make sense for their characters, she would be the only unexpected non-O.G. to take down a big bad because he’s hurt her man enough, and damn it, she’s pissed. She’s also not officially on Team Flash, so the no-kill rule doesn’t apply to her.
Neither version was gonna end with a happy kissing scene, it was gonna end with Cisco and Kamilla/Cisco and Barry taking a minute to catch their breath and take in what just happened, and realize that it’s finally over, and then they would probably hug (the Kamisco version would definitely end in a hug, but with Barry being the main character, his version might end with everyone else making it to where they are just after, or Cisco supporting him as he limps back to where the rest of the team is, and then Barry and Iris having an emotional reunion at the center of it, à la the Wenclair hug). Basically, it was gonna end in comfort, not in celebration (that could come afterward, at the big “once again the day is saved” party), because shit’s heavy and emotions are difficult, and this is the last episode and we need catharsis.
Thawne’s ending should have been big and satisfying, and Chester and Allegra just don’t have the history with Thawne to give that situation any weight and make it a worthwhile face-off. It’s just another overblown anticlimactic Ericverse barely-a-fight scene (feat. Cheap Death Fakeout). And with Carlos being unable to appear in the finale, they should’ve either made Barry fighting Thawne the main focus, or they should’ve left Thawne dead from their last showdown and just not bothered with him at all.
Just…give me the good old days when the villains got up close and personal and the heroes actually had some fear in their eyes, and needed a sec to recover afterwards.
