Hi. Love your fics!!! Could you do a Charles + Ruby one where Y/N is a singer and they go to one of her concerts or a big performance like her Super Bowl halftime show or something? Thank you!❤️
mommy’s biggest fans | charles leclerc
Tumblr media Tumblr media
y/n is in her harry styles fifteen nights at msg era 🫶🏼 so for this imagine we are doing her final night at msg or the kia forum or whichever arena you’d like
also taylor is going to be the faceclaim this time because why not 🙃 also kelly mention but only because p is the cutest kid 🥲
“We are getting ready for my wife’s concert tonight,” Charles spoke to the camera. He decided that Y/n’s last concert would be a great place to make a vlog. He looked at his phone. “It is four thirty and the kids are not ready. Ruby is watching Bluey.”
“And Bingo! Don’t forget Bingo!” Ruby said as she munched on her fruit snacks while seated on the bed.
“Right, Bingo too. All of the family is coming and so are our friends. Maman and Théo are having a nap, but soon we’ll have to go to the arena to see my wife perform, isn’t that exciting, Ruby?” Charles asked the girl.
“She’s going to sing my favorite song, she told me.”
“What’s your favorite song?” Charles asked.
“All of them, duh!”
Tumblr media
“How are you feeling?” The camera was pointed at Y/n, who was getting her makeup done for her show. Charles and the kids had arrived so they spent their time in Y/n’s dressing room until the show began. Y/n’s dressing room changed over the years. First, it was filled with makeup and dresses and lots of food for before and after the show. Now, it had a stroller, toys and diaper bags.
“I am so happy. My family and friends are here. I’m so glad all of the nights have been sold out.” Y/n smiled.
“And do you have any surprises for tonight?”
“I have some. . .”
Tumblr media
Ruby was escorted to her seat along with the Leclerc family and their friends. As the show began, the lights changed which caused Ruby to scream as loud as she could. She had been to many of her mother’s shows before, but she always had the same reaction.
Y/n started singing and so did Ruby and Mathéo. They knew all of her songs even the unreleased ones. Towards the middle of the show, a man apart of Y/n’s security team whispered something into Charles’ ear then walked with him to the side stage. Ruby was the only one who noticed as her family and friends danced and sang along.
“So this is the part of the show where I usually have some big surprise. And I do have one, but I just want to take the time to thank all of you for being here, for singing these songs, dancing, making friendship bracelets, dressing up. I love you all and I hope you love this next duet.” Y/n said. She smiled as the crowd erupted into cheers.
She walked further down the stage to her piano. The fans immediately thought she would be the one to play the piano, but they were mistaken since Charles had made his way to the piano with the biggest smile on his face.
As Charles sat on the piano bench, Y/n spoke again to the crowd. “Ladies, gentlemen, friends. I am very happy to introduce you to the man that makes me the happiest woman on earth, my husband, my muse, Mr. Charles Leclerc!” Y/n clapped as the crowd cheered for Charles, who got shy by the love he was receiving. “and also the father of my two kids, just had to add that.” She chuckled.
“Hello.” Charles spoke into the microphone which caused more cheers.
“They love you,” Y/n teased as she looked back to Charles. “So Charles and I talked and we had a hard time trying to pick which song to play together. We didn’t know if we wanted to do a cover or one of my songs and finally we decided why not play a new song.”
As Charles played a bit with the keys, Y/n looked back once again to him just to make sure he was alright. She then nodded at him so they could start.
Moon, a hole of light
Through the big top tent up high
Here before and after me
After the duet, Charles whispered an ‘I love you’ to his wife, which she returned. As the show went on, Y/n would often walk to the section that her family was in and blew them a kiss.
Y/n knew that most drivers on the F1 grid were going to attended, one of them being Sebastian with his wife and kids. She remembered Charles mentioning that it was Sebastian and Hanna’s wedding anniversary so she knew that she just had to sing a love song to them.
“This next song is dedicated to two special people who are celebrating their anniversary today. Seb, Hanna, congratulations and you know I will always love you and your family.” Y/n smiled at the Vettel family who were next to hers.
We could leave the Christmas lights up 'til January
And this is our place, we make the rules

After the show ended, Y/n couldn’t believe she had just played fifteen nights straight. She loved performing, but what she loved the most was her family and her family needed her more than ever. She was finally coming home to her babies and Charles.
When she got backstage, she immediately started asking for her family. A stage manager had told her they were on their way backstage. When she spotted the kids, she ran up to them and hugged them.
“Maman! You sang my favorite song! And then papa played the piano with you! I waved at you but I don’t know if you saw me. I was with uncle Thur and Théo was with uncle Enzo. We sang so loud, could you hear us?” Ruby asked her mother.
“I did. You both sang so beautifully.” Y/n told her babies. They walked together to her dressing room where the rest of her family and friends were waiting.
“Ma fille! You did amazing as always! And that duet with Charles! You two know how to make a grown woman cry.” Pascale gave a hug to her daughter in law.
“Thank you for being here.” Y/n wiped away a couple of tears.
“You know I’ll always be there for you no matter what.”
After greeting and thanking everyone for coming, she finally got some alone time with Charles. He had surprised her with a giant bouquet of flowers and a cake to celebrate the end of tour. Charles sat on the sofa in her dressing room as Y/n was taking off her makeup in front of the vanity.
“When do you think you’ll be back on tour? I know you just finished.” Charles asked.
“I’m not sure. I don’t want to retire from the music industry. I want to be home with the kids, be able to help them with homework, make cakes for their birthdays, I would give anything just to be able to walk them to school.” Y/n explained. She began to feel emotional so she stood up and paced around the room in her white robe.
“I know, and you’re finally going to be able to do that, Mon amour. The kids are going to have their maman home.”
“I love you, I love you so so much.” Y/n said.
“I love you more.”

goodevening ghesties
i luckily tested negative for covid this morning meaning i was FINALLY free from quarantine isolation just in time to go to the ghost concert!! this is my 5th ritual in as many years and it may have been the best (though, you never forget your first 😉). here’s my ghost kia forum night 1 concert breakdown of best moments, in no particular order!
cumulus and aurora ghoulettes twirling each other, blowing kisses to each other, stroking each other’s cheeks. this one was for the dykes <3
popia, drawing out the ending to mary on a cross: “are you guys still saying cross?? I want you to say MARIJUANA!!!!!”
ABSOLUTION F U C K E D LIVE!!!!
Respite ALSO fucked like the BASS IN THE BEGINNING?? I FELT IT IN MY CHEST IN MY LUNGS, I THINK IT MADE MY HEART BEAT DIFFERENTLY. SOUL RESET. I almost cried when copia left the stage thinking about how this is probably my last time seeing him (I completely forgot the encore existed I was too swept up in It All ™ you know?)
Dancing Skeletons. They better release the film because I want to study it to learn their dance.
they had two stages set up, the normal one up front and a mini set up in the back with a grand piano and several chairs. more on that in a sec.
Seestor gave papa a boxing robe and gloves for “fighting” his way back from the small stage to the main stage. the crowd started barking at him to hype him up like he was actually about to enter a boxing ring lmaoo
when he got to the back stage papa said it was so nice to see the people in the back “in the stevie wonder seats” lmaoooo
then he said he wanted to bite us???? and had us all snarl at him like we were biting dogs. deranged behavior. love him.
okay no my true fav moment was the orchestral arrangement of if you have ghosts. it put me in such a throwback to the first ghost ritual I attended in london when he took time to introduce each band member just as ghoul. 5 years later and on another continent, it is an even more beautiful arrangement of the song. The band members were 2 cellists and a grand piano player—I couldn’t tell if the woman to the far right was playing a theremin or vocalizing—if anyone knows can you tell me?
the skeletons picked papa up at the stage right mini stage and had him like crowd surf on top of them all the way back to center stage it was AWESOME?? I hope they got a cool overhead shot of it for the recording.
they definitely knew we were all anxious he was dying tonight and there were many moments where papa faked us out that he was dying. after the first or second song he made a comment like “ah we are quickly approaching the end of this era” and later when he told us to “not be sad it’s almost over, you’ve had a good fucking time and then it must end” I couldn’t help but think he was talking about more than just the concert
on a related note, when the skeletons first came out in twenties they circled papa and I think it was a deliberate fake out/homage to when he ascended in mexico city last year when the nuns circled him.
met many delightful ppl giving away handmade bracelets, stickers, and trinkets, as well as someone who had scooped up a bunch of mummy dust bucks from the confetti gun and was passing them out by the exit 🥰💜 u people made my day
anyway here’s that haul:

3 consecutive seasons of winning 3 fit achieved in a new era Allin Gen.G dynasty
3 consecutive seasons of winning 3 fit achieved in a new era Allin Gen.G dynasty
Gen.G's era has arrived in name and reality. Even when "Ruler" Park Jae-hyuk, a franchise star, and "Richens" Son Si-woo, who is called the top supporter, left the team, they succeeded in discovering new growth engines such as "Phase" Kim Soo-hwan and "Delight" Yoo Hwan-joong, making it a team that dominates LCK in 2023.
From last summer's summer season to this summer, he held the top spot by lifting the trophy in three consecutive splits. T1 and D-Plus Kia are the teams that have fallen from LCK to dynasties. Now Gen.G has also firmly established its position as a famous family where the expression "dynasties" is not awkward.
Gen.G won 3-0 in the final match against Summer T1 of the "2023 LOL Champions Korea (LCK)" held at the Daejeon Convention Center in Daejeon on the 20th with a combination of moves and strategic tactics. As a result, Gen.G has won spring and summer in a row since the summer of 2022, setting a meaningful record of winning three consecutive LCK titles for the first time since the team's foundation
Gen.G, who finished second in the regular league, defeated Hanwha Life Insurance in the second round of the playoffs and went straight to the final. Gen.G's opponent in the final was T1. T1 reached the final round of the 2023 LCK Summer Final held on the 19th by playing a neck-and-neck race to the fifth set against KT, the "mobile carrier match."
T1 was decided against Gen.G's final, setting an unprecedented record in LCK history. Gen.G and T1 are the first teams to face off in four straight finals in LCK's 11-year history
Gen.G, who already beat T1 in the 2022 Summer and 2023 Spring Finals, played from the first set of the finals as if he knew the pattern of T1. Gen.G, who had been quiet while focusing on the line match in the beginning, made a series of kills as "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon's Taliya loosened his feet and won as he widened the gap by more than 15 kills.
Gen.G, who won the second set with a similar pattern, played a difficult game in the third set as he was caught up in T1's resistance. Gen.G, which had widened the kill gap until the middle, allowed a tie, being swayed by the skillful play of T1's "Faker" Lee Sang-hyuk and "Kumayushi" Lee Min-hyung, but won three consecutive splits as he was one step ahead in concentration in the second half
Gen.G's captain, Jungler 'Peanut' Han Wang-ho, has won six LCK titles. This is the second most wins among active players after T1 mid-liner "Faker" Lee Sang-hyuk.
Gen.G, who built the "dynasties" through "Three Fit," was given 200 million won in prize money, while mid-liner "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon, who performed the play the team wanted, was selected as the final MVP and received 5 million won in prize money. Gen.G will be given a winning ring provided by Tiffany, while MVP Jung Ji-hoon will be given a bracelet. The injuries will be engraved with the names of the players or the names of the summoners
Gen.G's strength can be expressed in that there is no distinction between the players and the coaching staff. Not only the top upper body line, including the team's oldest "Peanut" Han Wang-ho, "Doran" Choi Hyun-joon and "Chovy" Jung Ji-hoon, but also the new bot duo "Faze" Kim Soo-hwan and "Delight" Yoo Hwan-joong show a single medium called "Team."
Depending on the situation, you can freely choose the center of the upper body and the center of the lower body, and the organizational power and cohesion that move thoroughly as a team are excellent. At the center were coach Ko Dong-bin and coach Won Sang-yeon. Coach Ko Dong-bin said, "As I prepared for the finals, I had a feeling of 3-0. The players worked so hard and worked hard on the season. It is a valuable victory that came with the result of hard work. I think you can call us a strong team now. "I'll show you a good performance in the LOL World Cup," he praised the players 파워볼사이트

Terravenger - Season 5: Part Two - The Pugioh City Arc - Episode 445 (Do Not Copy)
By the bottom of a tall clock tower somewhere in Pugioh later in the night, a small group of civilians hurried out of the building from the pair of doors at its front.
The skin of all the young people were a light-green color. And they each wore a black outfit with an upside-down white triangle printed on their chest.
Once the group gathered on the empty road of Great Plains, one of them who was a long red-haired boy faced forward.
"Guys!" He cried. "What's that over there?"
Then everyone spotted someone slowly walking across the road toward them.
The person was a man with bright skin, brown eyes, and short dark hair that was combed back. He also had a fine beard and a well-built body. He wore a pair of thick white earrings. And he had a black troll-cross tattoo printed on the right side of his neck. He wore a purple top with a long sleeve covering his left arm. The top was attached to a long turquoise sleeve that covered his right arm. And there was a thick purple cuff covering each wrist. The man also wore a pair of leathered-black pants. And he had on a pair of shiny black shoes.
The strong-faced man finally entered the sideway at the other side and stared at the group of teens with a weird smile.
Another male teen asked "Why is he staring at us like that?"
A young female who stood remained behind them commented "This guy is so weird!"
The large tattoo on his neck started to glow white as the man continued to stare at the teens with a welcoming smile.
The red-haired boy yelled to him "Stop playing around, Man!"
And the strange man called "Store sjeler kommer til meg!"
The entire area began to shine white as all the teens shouted in pain.
Inside the Principal's Office at the Midas Academy, a shaken Beau Ravenstone sat at his desk as another person stood before him.
It was his great friend Anna Blair who had light skin, blue-green eyes, and long blond hair. She had on black eyeliner with light-blue shades. And she had on bright pink lipstick. She wore a sleeveless white shirt with a thick pink rectangle covering the center. She had on a pair of tight light-gray jeans that lowered to her ankles. She also wore a pair of brown open-toed boots. And she had on two bracelets around each wrist that were a different color.
Anna asked "Duo Storms? That boy is your son?"
Beau lowered his head and answered "Apparently so. His mother... His birth mother. She was the woman I spent brief time with while I left to Kia City that long ago."
"The woman?" questioned Anna. "You are saying the biological mother of this boy is the stranger you cheated on Miranda with?"
"It was a lonely time," claimed Beau. "I didn't even know the woman's name. That was until now."
Terravenger -- Season 5: Part Two -- Episode 445:  The Pugioh City Arc -- The Long-Lost Child
Next, Beau presented a brown folder to his friend while he sat at his desk. Anna opened the folder and found a few sheets of paper inside.
Printed on the top left side of the form that remained at the front of the sheets was a face photo. It was of a young woman with fair skin, light-blue eyes, and long brunette hair with blond at the bottom. And she wore a black top that had short sleeves.
    "Tina Mantys," read Anna.
Beau reported "It appears she was arrested a short number of times for Robbery. All the robberies were food from small dining places. Her first crime was when she was very young."
Anna sat on the chair before the commander and asked "How did the two of you meet?"
Beau responded "We had encountered each other at a small bar in Kia City. The building has since been torn down. Anyway, she and I only spent one night together after having a few drinks."
"I understand," claimed Anna. "It was only a one-night stand."
"I searched through the city for her during the next evening," replied Beau. "But I never found her."
Then the emotional man lifted his head and said "I only wish I knew how she fared when she discovered that she was carried the boy... Our son."
"By the way you have described him," implied Anna. "It does not surprise me that this Duo Storms is biologically your son. He is a lot like Tai."
After that, Anna placed the closed folder on the desk.
"Will you reach out to him and his parents?" She asked. "Will you tell the child that you are his real father?"
Beau lowered his head again and thought for a moment.
"Duo may have questions," claimed Anna. "He will have those that only you can answer. And he may also want to learn about where he comes from."
And Beau answered "It is best that I don't interrupt his life, but only for now."
"You will not tell the boy anything?" repeated Anna.
Beau kindly shook his head and responded "Duo appears to be doing well in his life for what I have read from his file. It may best to keep this secret for a while."
A supportive Anna shook her head and told him "I promise not to tell anyone, not even Simon. I will not give your secret out another soul."
"Thank-you Anna," said Beau. "And I know for certain that Officer Simms will keep this confidential. He has been a loyal listener since I had told him about my affair."
Anna nodded her head and said "I still cannot believe you had an affair under Miranda's nose like that."
"I was foolish during that time," Beau told her. "But I do not regret what had happened after. Tina Mantys and I... We had a child. And now, our child resides here in Midas City."
"Perhaps you should learn more about Duo Storms," suggested Anna. "But without revealing yourself to him as his birth father."
"I would like that so much," replied Beau. "I can ask him about who he is. He can tell me things that are not in the students' archives. And I am able to do this as his principal."
And the caring Anna shook her head.
During the next morning, yellow caution-tape was wrapped around the large area where the few buildings including the old clock tower stood in Pugioh City. Many medics had checked on the bodies of the teenagers that laid on the sideway in front of the tower as a soldier worked into the secured area.
The person was revealed as the lieutenant of the Golden Bay Armed Forces named Gil Four. The young man had bright skin, gray eyes, and a thick beard. And his short dark-brown hair was spiked up. He wore a sleeveless pale-brown top along with pale-violet armor. On each side of his armor was a large musical note. And dark-brown armor covered his waist. He had silver pads over his shoulders while a gray pad was worn around each elbow. He had on a pair of black gloves and black boots. He also wore a pair of long dark-brown bottoms that were covered by light-brown armor. He had on a silver necklace with a silver jewel that shaped as a cub symbol hanging from the center. And his silver GAF badge was placed on the bottom of the chest area.
The lieutenant analyzed each of the cold bodies that were being seen by the medics. Four soon noticed the eyes of each teenager were still open.
    "Sir!"
Then Four walked forward to a female medic who was with the body of the red-hared boy. And the lieutenant discovered that the right hand of the teen was placed on his chest while his mouth remained open as if he was screaming for his life.
"Sir," reported the medic. "It seems that these kids are indeed dead. But there are no form of injured either of their bodies."
Four also discovered that the skin of the red-haired boy was white as snow.
"It seems..." He implied. "...that these kids were so scared that their souls came out of their bodies. And who or whatever attacked them may have collected their souls."
"Do you think so?" asked the medic.
Four lowered on one knee and stared at the petrified body once again.
He soon told the medic "I believe so. The life that was inside this kid has completely been drained."
After his analysis was completed, Four rose from the ground and responded.
"We will take these bodies back with us to GAF. Meanwhile, we will have to put this city on lock down. We must not let whatever this is happen to other cities."
Four lowered his head and added "And someone alert the Commander about this situation."

Manji was a country known for their strong army and combat abilities, the crown prince being extremely skilled in martial arts. A smaller empire, but strong, modern, and well built. More densely packed than Senin, with fewer rolling hills and more bustling cities. Despite this, you had been educated on the strong alliance between Manji and Senin, a tribute to the two country’s history in battle as well. Sara’s great grandmother had been from Manji before she was married into the Akashi dynasty, further solidifying the alliance. The two countries would surely continue to prosper together through the strong relationship between the two crown princes.
The long trip to Manji was tiresome. You spent your days in the carriage with the prince, staring out the window at the expansive scenery and passing towns. Admiring the woodlands transforming into desert and then wetlands.
Your nights were spent dozing at comfortable inns with the insatiable prince in bed beside you. No matter how much you tried to bat him away, concerned about the thin walls of the inn, he somehow found a way to have you willing and begging beneath him, so wet you were reaching for him and clawing at him, convinced you would just as well die if he did not touch you soon.
In the mornings he would wake up before you and ensure everything was prepared for the continuing trip, only rousing you from your deep slumber when you had to dress and enter the carriage once more.
You would blush just sitting next to him as he innocently read inked documents, unknowing of your lewd thoughts as you remembered how he would touch you the night before. There was a beautiful picture in your mind. Long white hair tumbling around you as he hovered above. Silky tresses like a waterfall, shielding your faces as he leant down to kiss you, his body already buried deep inside you as his tongue stroked yours and you gasped for air.
You were sore as he held your hand and helped you step up into the carriage the next day, sending a glare to the back of his head when he turned to speak to one of the guards.
The long trip went for days, but you didn’t mind. You could have spent forever gazing at the views, quietly enjoying the sound of the horses’ hooves on the dirt roads and the sight of the prince reading, deep in thought.
“We will be arriving today, ensure you dress her appropriately,” Haruchiyo instructed Kia and two other maids who were washing your feet in your room at an inn on the outskirts of Manji.
“Yes, my prince.”
He was waiting by the carriage when you finally emerged, running a hand down the elegant neck of a bay horse. He paused at the sight of you, turning to fully face you. You could see his eyes scan you from head to toe, his lips parting.
Then he scowled. “Get in the carriage.”
You faltered. Was he not happy with your dresses? It had been specially made for the trip and was on par with the expensive garments you had worn for the light festival.
You did as he said, clambering in and watching him follow suit, slamming the door closed behind the two of you.
He sat down and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath for patience before turning to you.
He eyed your bare shoulders, the design of your pink and blue robe exposing your neck and collarbones.
“Why are you wearing such revealing robes?” he asked calmly.
You fiddled nervously with your fingers. “It was prepared for me for entering Manji. I have worn similar robes before, but I apologise, my prince, I did not realise it would offend you.”
They were beautiful garments, a light pink and sky blue, the collar a shallow v to expose the smooth expanse of your shoulders and neck. The sleeves and hem covered your hands and feet, hiding the comfortable dainty pink slippers you wore and matching bracelets around your wrist.
The only pieces of jewellery visible were your necklace, elegant earrings and hair crown, which was heavier than you liked and felt as if it was pinned into your scalp. It was beautiful, though. Thin gold chains and gold beads dangled from it, matching the tiny gold beads that had been pinned throughout your hair. A light blue tear-dropped diamond hung on your forehead, attached to the centre of your hair crown.
He uttered something under his breath, nodding with a tired sigh.
“Well it’s too late to change now or we won’t arrive at the palace in time,” he muttered irritably.
Your gut twisted. “I’m sorry.”
He eyed your collarbones, one hand reaching out and touching the skin lightly. You shivered, now very much aware that those hands could bring so much pleasure.
“I want to be the only one to see you,” he murmured. His tongue clicked. “Damn that sister, insisting she must meet you.”
“What is Princess Senju like?” you inquired.
A soft smile touched his lips, a sight so new and rare you were transfixed for a moment and didn’t register his first words.
“…even as a child she was stubborn. She always knew she was to be raised as a lady and marry a noble man of my father’s choosing, but she still rejected the marriage. I believe it was only within the past few months she has finally started to get along with her husband. She even kicked up a fuss at her wedding. We are lucky Prince Manjiro finds it amusing rather than irritating.”
“She sounds like you,” you giggled. “You do not want to be in this marriage either.”
Silence ensued in the carriage and your eyes turned to saucers as you registered your own words.
You crumpled the material covering your lap in your hands, averting your eyes immediately.
“I…I’m sorry, I don’t know why I said that.”
His hand rose, palm facing you in a placating gesture. “You said it because you felt comfortable enough to. You guard was down enough that you didn’t think hard about your words before speaking. I’m glad. Don’t regret it. You’re right, after all.” He sighed. “I never wanted to enter this marriage.”
His head leaned to the window, watching as the clouds started to drizzle.
“May… May I ask you something, my prince?” you uttered carefully. He faced you completely. “Of course.”
“Empress mother told me you have always known you were to be wed to a woman of your grandmother and parents choosing, but you seem very angry about it. I have also always known I wouldn’t get to pick a husband of love, but I’m not so upset. I understand it’s unfair and I was certainly anxious the day we wed, but I know it’s important to honor my family.”
“You want to know why I am so angry with my parents,” he guessed.
You fiddled with your lap. “Yes.”
“Hm, I suppose I’m angry at the whole situation. You were-” he suddenly stopped before going in a different direction. “I don’t think upholding tradition is everything. My grandmother, of course, would disagree, but she’ll be long gone by the time I’m Senin’s Emperor. Tradition is important, but just because our ancestors did something it does not mean we must, too. We can create our own traditions.”
You were completely shocked with his answer, having thought he would be the same as generations of rulers before him, enforcing tradition. It made you admire him, too. Because even though he had been raised to strictly adhere to tradition, he still formed his own opinions. You wished you had the same quality within you, or were at least brave enough to voice your own thoughts aloud.
“So you wanted to marry for love?” you questioned softly. You hadn’t thought he could be romantic.
He shook his head imperceptibly. “I suppose so… or what I thought love was, anyway.”
Aika, the name whispered through your mind.
“There is a woman you wish to be with?” You knew you were pushing your luck, especially when he had grown tense as he spoke of your union.
He slid you a look. “You are very curious today. I think my princess should be more careful of stumbling into situations that don’t involve her, lest she get hurt.”
A threat.
You were the one who told me to speak my mind more, you inwardly stewed.
“My apologies, my prince. My curiosity got away from me.”
He gazed back out the window. “In any case, even if this marriage is not one of love, you can rest easy I will not hurt you anymore. I know you are innocent in all of this. You are not to blame.”
“Ah,” you gasped at the sight of the emerging city residing beside a huge dark purple lake. Your hands pressed to the window to get a better look. “It’s so beautiful.”
Haruchiyo slid beside you, lifting one draping curtain to get a better look. “Hm.”
“Isn’t it so pretty? Are there fish in the lake? Do you know?” you questioned excitedly.
He stared down at you. “Yes, there are, but fishing isn’t allowed in this area, only downstream in the joining canals.”
You sat back down. “This lake is very famous. I’ve heard it holds magic.”
“I wouldn’t know. I do not believe in such things.”
You frowned. You had believed in magic since you were little. Not magic in the sense of overwhelming power and supernatural abilities, but instead the magic of nature, it’s beauty and growth, the guardians who took care of the earth.
“Do you visit Manji often?” you inquired.
“No. I have not been since Senju wed Prince Manjiro.”
“They were not at our wedding.”
“No, Senju was throwing a tantrum and didn’t want to see our mother and father. Manjiro sent his sincerest apologies.”
“You’ve known each other since you were children?”
“Yes. Whenever Manjiro and the King of Manji would visit Senin Capital I was permitted to return to the imperial palace to see him.”
You blinked. “Permitted? Didn’t you live at the palace?”
“I was raised by Ran and Rindou’s father, Lord Ren of Toku, from age ten until I became a man and was to resume my duties at the palace as second prince.”
That explained his close relationship with the brothers. He had lived with them and grown up with them. Sara had told you that the crown prince was to live in the imperial palace his whole life and was raised by the emperor. However with Takeomi’s death Haruchiyo was next in line for the title of Emperor, even though many of his adolescent years were not lived in the imperial palace. He hadn’t been raised with the knowledge behind being the ruler of Senin because Takeomi had been the crown prince. The title had been forced onto Haruchiyo after his older brother’s death.
Not only that, but you knew firsthand how difficult it was to be separated from a sibling. Despite Haruchiyo’s rough exterior, he seemed to have loved his elder brother. Being sent to live with the Lord of Toku and being separated from Takeomi must have been heartbreaking.
He caught you staring at him. “What is it?”
Your gaze snapped away. He wouldn’t want to hear your thoughts. It would appear as if you were pitying him. “Nothing, my prince.”
You froze when he suddenly grabbed you, dragging you to sit across his lap. He cupped the side of your face, thumb stroking over your cheek as his palm held the nape of your neck.
Your palms fluttered to rest above his chest. “W-What are you doing?”
He smirked. “Can I not hold my beautiful wife?”
“I guess.” You averted your gaze, hoping he didn’t pay mind to your blushing.
“I like you like this,” he stroked your cheek.
“Like what, my prince?”
“More lively. You are speaking so easily to me.”
Was he teasing you? Speaking casually with him was not easy at all. It felt as if he was a landmine that could go off if a single wrong word slipped from your lips.
“If you like it I will try and speak like this more often.”
“Please do,” he smiled. You flinched, quickly searching away from that charming grin. It was too blinding. How many women had fallen in love with it? Too many to count, you were sure.
You wanted to sob in confusion when it suddenly disappeared to be replaced by a dark look. This prince was too bipolar.
He thumbed your bottom lip, drinking you in greedily.
“But only to me. Only ever speak like this to me.”
“Announcing Heaven’s son, crown prince of Senin, Prince Haruchiyo and his princess consort.”
You obediently followed your husband as he strode down the carpeted throne room to where the King and Queen of Manji sat, Prince Manjiro standing to their right with a hand on the back of his father’s throne.
You kept your head bowed, unlike your husband who stood tall and greeted the King with respectful words.
“We have gifts of golden dragons and cream guavas from the capital. Please accept them,” Haruchiyo gestured to the servants laying the treasure at the king’s feet.
Your head rose when an amused chuckle filled the room.
“Look at you being all polite. Are you finally accepting your position as the next emperor or has marriage changed you?” Prince Manjiro teased, standing to greet you and Haruchiyo closer.
You did a double take when Haruchiyo stuck his tongue out at the Prince of Manji in retort. Exactly like a child would. It reminded you of Tik back at the orphanage.
The king sighed in exasperation, rising from his throne. “Thank you for the gifts and greetings, Prince Haruchiyo. I will let you and my son re-aquaint yourselves. I can see no work will be done today. Rest tonight and I expect both of you to be on your best behaviour for the meeting tomorrow.”
“Yes, my Lord!” Manjiro put a fist to his heart earnestly, obviously mocking his father.
The king narrowed his eyes. “Watch it.”
You bowed once more as the king and queen strode past you, ignoring the unsettling gaze resting on you. You finally turned around when they had disappeared around the corner, finding Manjiro staring at you in amusement.
“This is your bride?” he looked to Haruchiyo.
“Yes, stop looking at her.”
Manjiro’s brows rose in surprise at Haruchiyo’s possessiveness, though he couldn’t have been as surprised as you, who was still trying to get over your husband’s possessive words from the carriage.
Only ever speak like this to me.
After that the conversation had silenced as you fiddled and tried to make sense of the strange man beside you.
“It is an honor to meet you, Prince Manjiro,” you bowed once more.
You took a moment to observe him as he and Haruchiyo conversed. He was shorter than your husband, with sandy, shoulder-length hair half tied back. He was good-looking. You could see where the rumours came from. But when you glanced back at your husband, the prince of Manji paled in comparison. It was a frightening realisation.
“And where is my demon sister?”
“Resting. She will join us for dinner, but she goes to bed tired and wakes up tired these days. The doctor has said she needs to be on bed rest until the baby is born. The little one is draining her energy.”
“I see.” Haruchiyo’s eyes travelled to yours. “You were yawning before we got out of the carriage. Do you want to rest before dinner?”
That sounded like a good idea. You nodded, struggling to fight a yawn at just the mention of sleep.
“I will have a servant guide you to your room. Oh, and Haruchiyo?”
“What is it?”
“Draken will be joining us for dinner tonight. Be on your best behaviour.” Manjiro stuck his tongue out.
Haruchiyo cursed, grabbing your hand and pulling you behind him to exit the throne room.
“Who is Draken?” you whispered as the two of you were guided along the wide balconies of the Grand Palace. It was different to the Palace in Senin, made of stone and decorated with tall, dark green forest plants. Some hung from baskets attached to the sandstone pillars that lined the balcony. You could see views of the city peeking between them.
“A righteous Lord of Manji.”
“Oh.” It didn’t tell you much, but you didn’t ask for more, sensing that this righteous lord of Manji put your husband in a foul mood.
You room was bustling when you entered, filled with Kia and your other handmaidens, as well as servants of the Manji palace. They all dropped their head as you and Haruchiyo entered.
“The princess and I will take a bath,” Haruchiyo instructed.
“Yes, your grace.”
They all rushed out while you glided to the edge of the room, taking in the view. The window was long and wide, revealing the skyline and bustling palace courtyard below.
You closed your eyes against the soft breeze. The weather was just perfect. Warm without being too stifling.
A shockwave ran through you when familiar arms wrapped around your figure from behind, pressing you back into a lean body. Soft lips found your shoulder to rest on.
Still unused to gentle, affectionate touches from your husband, all you could do was stand there frozen until Kia entered the room again to inform that the bath had been prepared.
It was a large indoor bath that could have fit over ten people, so you pressed yourself to the opposite side from Haruchiyo, very much aware of the soreness between your legs and how he didn’t seem to be able to keep his hands away when you weren’t wearing any clothes.
He smirked, arms resting back against the edge of the bath, head tilted in amusement at you.
“What are you doing all the way there, dear wife?”
“I’m just enjoying the water over here.”
“Are you lying to me?”
“I would never lie to you, my prince.”
You watched him warily when he stood, the water up to his hips and revealing his wet abdominal muscles, the cuts of muscle next to his hips framing a light trail of hair from beneath his navel to lower where the water covered.
He glided over to you, the ends of his hair so long they rested on the water in swirling patterns. You pressed back against the edge of the bath, eyes nervously searching a way out.
Your breath caught when he leaned down, hands resting on the edge of the bath as his face ducked close to yours. “You know…” he smirked. “You’re quite cheeky.”
Your mouth dropped. “I am not.”
“You are,” he leaned closer. “Sometimes you say things without thinking and it makes me want to hear your true thoughts even more.”
“You can simply order me to tell you what’s on my mind and I will always obey,” your arms folded across your chest.
His hand raised suddenly, making you flinch away, eyes squeezing shut in preparation for a slap.
When nothing came after long moments, you peeked one eye open and then another, seeing his troubled expression.
“Prince Haruchiyo?”
“Did you think I was going to hit you?”
Of course. This was the same man who had left scars on your body and humiliated you in front of others. A slap certainly wouldn’t be out of the question. You were surprised he hadn’t before. It was a common form of discipline and teaching you had encountered from a young age, so you had learned to expect the harsh feel of a palm whipping against your cheek when you had done something wrong.
“I was just going to do this?” he said softly, cupping the side of your face.
You shifted, feeling exposed under such gentle eyes. You wondered if he liked what he saw.
Despite being husband and wife, he had never complimented your looks. You didn’t expect him to, certainly not after he had made it clear he didn’t wish to be married to you.
It was girly to want to be beautiful in a man’s eyes, but it wasn’t something you could help. The only excuse you had was that you had been raised to be the perfect wife for the prince, and so you wanted to be pretty for him. Surely the way he had taken your body so vigorously over the past few nights hinted that he didn’t find you completely detestable. Or maybe he was just that desperate to get you pregnant.
He sighed and slumped next to you. “I guess it makes sense considering what I’ve done to you.”
You unconsciously touched your chin. “It’s fading quickly now. It will be gone soon.”
Despite the reassurance, silence ensued. Tense, filled with unspoken words hanging heavy. You touched a lilypad with a waterlily floating by, trying to distract yourself.
You got the sense that he wanted to say something, but long minutes passed until your skin prickled with goose bumps from the cooling water, and the silence remained.
...
“Sister-in-law!” a light-haired girl around your age ran to you. Her expression was bright as she took your hands in hers and smiled excitedly.
“Princess Senju,” you bowed your head, swallowing at the sight of her pregnant belly. She looked as if she could pop at any moment. Her body was small enough as it was, you wondered how she wasn’t toppling over with every step.
“Oh no, please address me as sister,” she requested.
You looked to Haruchiyo, who nodded his permission.
You smiled at him quickly before nodding down at Senju, about to speak when a new rage-filled voice spoke.
“Senju! I swear to the heavens if you run one more time I’ll wrap my hands around your throat!” Prince Manjiro’s angry voice echoed outside the dining hall where a long table of delicious food was already set up.
“Bleh,” she stuck her tongue out at him. Like brother like sister, you supposed.
His expression softened with concern. “Please take better care of our baby. I can’t see either of you get hurt.” His hand rested to her protruding stomach.
Her expression faltered slightly. Sighing, “Fine, fine. Lets sit and eat. My feet hurt and I’m hungry. You don’t feed me enough, Manjiro.”
“I will order whatever food you want at any time of day.”
“I can see where I stand, not worthy of even a greeting from my sister,” Haruchiyo interrupted with an arched look.
Senju giggled as if his disapproval was the funniest thing in the world. “That’s because I’m more excited to see your wife. I can already tell you don’t deserve her.”
Haruchiyo pulled out your chair and guided you to sit down as he chastised his sister, taking a seat next to you afterward. Manjiro similarly helped Senju sit down before relaxing himself.
“We need to have a walk in the gardens tomorrow. Just the two of us girls, okay? You must be tired of my brother after travelling with him for so long,” Senju started chattering to you immediately.
Her excitement was infectious, causing you to giggle. She clearly wasn’t afraid of her brother.
Your laughter stopped as soon as your head turned to meet Haruchiyo’s blank expression.
“No, of course I’m not tired of him,” you replied steadily.
“Brother, stop glaring at her. You’re so mean!” Senju complained.
Haruchiyo huffed, turning his attention to talk with the other prince and leaving you and Senju to delve into conversation.
You were startled by her personality. She was not afraid to tease her husband or greedily stuff her face with the food on the table, threatening to beat Haruchiyo when he told her she looked like a pig eating.
She was easy to talk to, smiling and asking you so many questions you struggled to answer them all. You could hardly see the girl Haruchiyo described as unwilling to marry Prince Manjiro. She huffed as he fussed over her, sure, but you didn’t miss the small, pleased smile she secretly observed him with.
Haruchiyo’s arm rested on the back of your chair, fingers gently playing with the gold tassels hanging from your hair every now and then, the man himself immersed in conversation and hardly aware of the unconscious touches.
It wasn’t until it was announced that Draken was entering did his relaxed demeanour leave him, his body straightening up, sharp eyes glaring at the tall dark-haired man.
“Prince Haruchiyo,” the man greeted with an unfriendly grin. You shivered, wondering if tonight would bring trouble from how the two men were glaring at each other.
Haruchiyo’s hand clasped your shoulder, pressing you closer to his side.
“Lord Draken, it is good to see you again. You look well.”
Draken’s dark eyes dropped to you, and then a gentle smile crossed over his face.
“You must be Princess Haruchiyo. Greetings.”
“Hello,” you nodded once.
“You’ve said your greetings, you can leave now,” Haruchiyo yawned.
Draken smiled. “I don’t think I’ll give you that pleasure, son of heaven.” The title, usually filled with such worship, sounded more mocking coming from Lord Draken’s lips.
He promptly took a seat to Prince Manjiro’s other side, smiling politely at you. A nervous smile rattled out of you in response.
“Don’t smile at him,” Haruchiyo growled.
“Come now, dear children, lets all get along,” Manjiro grinned giddily as if he enjoyed the drama.
Haruchiyo scowled. “You invited him to the palace at the same time you knew I would be visiting.”
“Of course, you two bickering keeps me entertained.”
“How is your husband?” Draken looked to you. “Has he killed any sacred animals lately?”
“I don’t understand…” you were lost.
“You see, when he visited Manji as a child he killed a palace phoenix. A royal bird dropped to earth from the heavens.”
Haruchiyo scoffed. “I was dropped to earth from the heavens. I can do whatever I want. And I only did it because Manjiro had never gone hunting before and wanted me to teach him.”
You gasped, fingers pressed to your lips as you turned to your husband. “You killed a phoenix?”
They were so very rare. How could someone kill such a precious creature? The phoenix was the royal bird of Manji. It was forbidden to kill one as they had almost been hunted to extinction in your grandmother’s time. She always said that if you ever came across one you must never try to catch it or your destiny would be drenched in bad luck. However, if one dropped a feather for you, you would be blessed with great fortune for the rest of your life. You had never seen one yourself, but the idea of hurting such a holy creature was unfathomable.
He stared back at you, taking in your gobsmacked expression.
“Well…er…”
“Looks like you are in trouble with your wife,” Draken snickered.
“Shut up. How is it different to the duck and tortoise that have been slaughtered for our plates tonight? It isn’t like I tortured the bird. I pierced its heart quickly. It’s just an animal.”
“But they are holy birds,” you protested.
He faltered, observing your distress. “I was a child, I knew no better,” he sighed. “I was already punished by Takeomi when I returned home. I wouldn’t do the same thing if I saw a phoenix in the gardens today.”
Draken scoffed. “I do not believe you. You’ve always paid no mind to tradition. Every time you visited you would lead Prince Manjiro astray with your wild antics. You are a bad influence.”
“The reason you haven’t found a wife yet is because you are so uptight and no woman wants you. You’re still a virgin, aren’t you?” Haruchiyo took a drink of wine from his cup.
“I have a wife.”
“Oh, you mean that dead one?”
Draken stood, slamming his fists to the table. The plates rattled with the force, goblets threatening to tip. Haruchiyo leaned back in his seat, pleased with the reaction he got from the lord. Senju continued eating, ignoring the argument while her husband watched on in amusement.
“I’ll kill you,” Draken’s voice was deadly. Quiet and serious, his brown eyes alight with rage.
“Lord Draken, your wife has passed?” you questioned worriedly. Why was Haruchiyo making fun of him for something so sad? He needed to think about how he would feel if someone teased him over Takeomi’s death.
Draken nodded solemnly. “Yes. She passed on two years ago from illness.”
“I am very sorry for your loss.”
Draken blinked at you in surprise. “Thank you.”
Senju addressed her brother. “Don’t talk about Emma like that again. You have a wife now, how would you feel if she passed?” Then she smiled sweetly at you. “Ignore those two. They have never gotten along. Let us talk amongst ourselves. Are you with child?”
“Oh,” you spared the arguing men one last glance before directing your attention to the crown princess of Manji. “No. Not yet.”
Haruchiyo stopped speaking to turn to you. “Soon though, right?”
“Umm…”
“Very soon, isn’t that right, dear wife?”
“Yes,” you looked away.
It wasn’t like you had a choice in such matters.
Haruchiyo was in a sullen mood before bed that night. He refused to look or speak to you and turned on his side facing away with a childish huff.
You carefully climbed into bed beside him, ensuring to give him space and debating whether to ask him what was wrong or to leave it alone.
“Would you like me to massage you, Prince Haruchiyo?” you questioned softly, sitting up with the covers over your lap.
He turned in place, moving to rest his head on your lap and wrap his arms around your waist. Your hands faltered above his head, hesitantly lowering to stroke his hair in soothing caresses.
“No.”
“Can I bring you tea?”
“No.”
“Do you need anything at all?”
He huffed, peeking open one eye to stare up at you. “You were speaking to Lord Draken too much at supper time.”
The Lord had been much easier to speak with than your husband, and so you had exchanged many discussions over the dinner table. For all his hate for Haruchiyo, he was also gentle and kind.
But it wasn’t worth gaining your husband’s terrifying anger over.
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Do you like him?”
“He is a kind, honourable man.”
“That’s not what I meant. You think he’s handsome, don’t you?”
Was there even a correct way to answer that?
“He is good-looking,” you answered carefully. “I can see that.”
He made another childish noise of irritation and buried his head back in your stomach. You sat there in confusion, stroking his hair until you were sure he had fallen asleep.
When you removed your hands, however, he glared up at you.
“Why did you stop?”
“I thought you had fallen asleep.”
“Keep going. It’s nice and you never touch me on your own.”
Did he want you to?
“Okay,” you whispered. Unconsciously, a small smile touched your lips. He was acting like such a child. What would the people of Senin say if they saw their future ruler acting this way? You supposed it was fine so long as the doors were closed.
How was this the same man who had thrown your precious necklace into the fire and told you how worthless you were? He seemed so content with your light touches, making soft hums of pleasure every now and again.
“What are you smiling at?” he questioned.
You touched your fingertips to your lips. “I didn’t realise I was.”
Your ears perked at the sound of rain falling from the dark sky and pattering on the ground, the smell of wet stone entering your nose.
“Oh, Haruchiyo, it’s raining,” you quickly clambered from the bed, running to the wide window and stretching your arm out to feel the wet drops. The droplets hit your nose just as the clap of thunder and lightning struck in the distance and a breeze passed through the room. You shivered in delight.
“Do you like the rain?” he questioned from close behind you.
“Yes,” you grinned. “I like the sun, too, but the rain is my favourite.”
You peered up at him, struck by how handsome he was in such plain clothing. Since dinner the two of you had changed into similar white long robes, loose and comfortable, made for sleeping in.
His hair was not tied up high as it usually was during the day, but the thin front strands twisted out of his face and tied behind his head, the rest flowing down his back. His eyes were bright and completely fixated on you.
Your heart skipped a beat, prompting you to raise your palm and press the uncomfortable tightness in your chest.
“What about my prince? Does my prince like the rain?” you asked as a distraction.
“I’ve never thought about it. I suppose it’s nice.”
You nodded happily. “It’s so beautiful.”
It started to pour harder, lightning flashing in the distance hills, mesmerising you. The heavens poured down onto on the earth, soaking the trees.
Everything about the rain soothed you. The sound, the smell. It reminded you of a warm embrace in your grandmother’s arms. Cozy and wrapped up as the earth drank from the skies.
You were so taken by the downpour that you hardly noticed when he moved closer, not until he gripped your chin and tipped your face to his.
Your eyes widened, seeing his close proximity just before he leaned down and took your lips.
“Mm,” you gripped the fabric over his shoulders. His arm immediately went around your waist to support you, other hand moving to press between your shoulder blades to kiss you more deeply.
“Are we…?” you pulled away, breathing hard.
He mumbled some affirmation, pulling you back into him. Eyes slowly falling shut, you surrendered yourself, kissing back just as deeply.
Kissing felt good. It was intimate and made your lungs burn breathlessly in a way that made you want to do it over and over again til both your lips were red and swollen.
So you didn’t object when he held your wrists and guided you backwards to the bed, lips still connected. He pressed you onto your back, pressing your wrists into the mattress as he straddled you.
You were completely out of breath by the time he pulled away, flushing at the string of saliva that connected your lips, flushing even deeper when your eyes connected with his.
Any thought faded away when he leant back down to kiss you again, stealing your breath once more as the rain created new memories.
