so i watched spearhead from space! great doctor introduction. speeding away on a wheelchair stealing some poor soul’s dracula cape cuddling shoes 10/10. i get why russell made autons the main villain in rose now. obviously the parallel goes “they featured in an iconic opening to a brand new era of the show, so i’m going to do the same. what gives” and it worked 👍 also I LOVE YOU PRACTICAL EFFECTS funny how squelchy rubber tentacle monster in a tank looks so much more realistic and convincing than the goofy early cgi they kept using in seven’s era. somehow the fact that you can clearly see human eyes through the plastic masks actually makes the autons more uncanny-valley. liz saves the doctor with her ingenius contraption when he’s tied up and helpless, not the other way around. no notes im genuinely impressed. imagine watching this as a 12-year-old in 1970 you would have been traumatised
why am i up at 2am watching The Show you ask? well. tomorrow is a sunday and i can’t sleep

John Pertwee safety PSA for SPLINK.
SPLINK is an acronym that stands for
(First find a) Safe (place to cross, then stop)
(Stand on the) Pavement (near the kerb)
Look (all round for traffic and listen)
If (traffic is coming, let it pass)
(When there is) No (traffic near, walk straight across the road)
Keep (looking and listening for traffic while you cross).'
Because of the extreme awkwardness of this impossible to remember acronym, it is generally considered to be one of the worst PSA campaigns of all time, and is frequently parodied in British media.
