Welcome to the 4th Johnica Week! I can't believe it's already the fourth edition and I'm so happy to have still lots of talented artists and writers joining the event and keeping the fandom alive by contributing (also) to the growth of this wonderful couple 🥰💕💕💕
When is the event? 📆
This year's Johnica Week will be a bit shorter, only four days, in order to keep entries more collected, avoid burnout for those faithful creators who want to challenge themselves and join everyday, and for everyone who loves to read fics but has less time on their hands. The event will start on Sunday 15th January and end on Wednesday 18th January, aka John and Veronica's 48th wedding anniversary!

The Theme 📚
You’ve read it right, this year Johnica Week has a theme, linked to the 46th wedding anniversary, that is BOOKS. Like all the prompts, it’s up to you to follow the theme or not, consider it just as a general theme that you could build your entries around. I chose some prompts that might fit this theme, that are about books as physical objects or as idea for an alternative worldbuilding.

You're encouraged to join with your preferred creative media or challenge yourself with something new! Fanfictions, drawings, comics, poetry, collages and photo edits, moodboards, anything you like! More in the RULES below.
Like all Ship Weeks, this is a fandom event to share love and creativity related to a particular couple, so be sure to engage with the entries and support all the artists and writers that chose to join! Reblog, leave likes/kudos and comment on the artworks to keep the fandom alive! 💜💖💕💜💖💕
These prompts are simply suggestions for the event, you can choose one, mix them together, follow them or not, be creative with the prompts or do something completely different! That’s up to you 😊 For each day I chose a situation that revolves around books, an undergoing theme, a literary genre and a type of Alternative Universe you can choose among.
💚 Day 1 - Sunday 15th
SITUATION: Transported from real life to a book’s world and living an adventure there/meeting the main characters. (Suggestions: Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.) Note: not as an AU, but more on the idea of "real John and Veronica live an adventure in a book" as themselves.
THEME: Having fun together
GENRE: Action
AU: Superheroes/Superpowers (“Superheroes with Superproblems” comic book, Fantasy or Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Fantasy, Cyberpunk, etc.)
💚 Day 2 - Monday 16th
SITUATION: Misplaced/stolen book.
THEME: Math VS Poetry
GENRE: Horror/mystery
AU: Noir/Detective story (Victorian, Modern Crime Scene, Serial Killer, Futuristic, etc.)
💚 Day 3 - Tuesday 17th
SITUATION: Finding/reading a book for the other one or for the kids.
THEME: Long distance
GENRE: Fairytale
AU: Historical Fiction (Royalty, 1920s, Arranged Marriage, World War, Ancient Greece, etc)
💖 Day 4 - Wednesday 18th (Wedding anniversary!)
SITUATION: Bonding thanks to a special book.
THEME: Pregnancy
GENRE: Comedy
AU: Romantic cliché (Soulmates, bookshop, coffee/florist shop, alternative first meeting, etc.)
What can you do? ✒
You can join with fanfics, edits and moodboards, drawings of all kinds and if you want to sing or play an instrument please feel free to!

If you’re a fan of John, of Johnica or simply like to read fanfictions, positive interactions are always much welcomed! Support the authors by leaving likes, a comment (even a little one!) and sharing their work. On AO3 you don’t need an account to leave Kudos and Comments! (Unless the author has willingly prevented guests to comment). To leave a comment on AO3 you simply have to choose a temporary mail and set your email to get a notification for an eventual reply.
If a work is not tagged appropriately, you can reach out to me via DM and I’ll warn the author. If anything makes you uncomfortable, simply close the work! Do not engage by leaving nasty comments or messaging the author!

In honor of Veronica Deacon’s 73rd birthday today, my second (delayed) entry into Johnica Week 2023, “Just You and I: After Dark”, is here!
Rating: Explicit. This fic is not safe for reading at work or at school, nor is it intended for minors. Please interact only if you are 18 or over.
This is an erotic oneshot based on the prompts “Reading an Erotic Novel and Awakening the Desire (Together or Secretly From the Other)”, Pregnancy Sex”, and “Cockwarming”.
July 1977: Veronica is at home one evening, reading an erotic romance novel while waiting for John to come home from the studio. She hopes he’ll be “in the mood” he arrives home because she has a surprise for him, but little does she know that he has a surprise for her as well.

For Johnica Week 2023 Day 1, I drew a little 4-panel comic!
Since the theme for today was Johnica inside a fantasy book, I thought it would be funny if they somehow got transported into Alice in Wonderland and John immediately became friends with the hookah-smoking caterpillar. I feel like they’d get along! 😂
Sorry that it’s pretty messy, it was rushed due to the fact that I didn’t start until today (oops). I hope you like it nonetheless and happy Johnica week! :)

Summary: It's the first week of September. John and Veronica are glad to return to normality after the summer holidays. However, a problem arises - they're both bored out of their minds. It's only with a little bit of reminiscing, that they learn that Thursdays will soon become the best day of the week.

Johnica week 2023 • Day 3: Victorian AU/mistery 💕
For this entry I wanted to try and replicate the vibes of an old illustration from a book, and imagine Deaky and Veronica as a couple of mistery enthusiasts! They'd be avid readers and lovers of all kind of detective stories 🥰 John would be the analytical type, very pragmatic and realist, while Veronica would love to find a twist or different ways to look at the clues. I had a lot of fun drawing this despite also having to rush so I apologise if it's not perfect. I hope you'll like it anyway 💕💜💖💕💜💕

Trying a different style and to make something that would look like a children book's illustration for this prompt has been a very cute experiment 🥰💕 John and Veronica had found an adorable pop-up book for Robert, which features singing frogs! As young parents they're absolutely thrilled about it 🎶💜💕💖💜💕💖

For Johnica Week, day 3: Arranged Marriage
Early 1900s, John Deacon's time to get married has come, and his mother accepted the offer of a local Polish family, their oldest daughter Veronica.
Sadly, neither John nor Veronica are ready to get married, and while he gets immediately struck by her, she doesn't seem to accept her fate yet.
My 3rd and last fic for Johnica week 🥰💕 I'm usually not a fan of arranged marriages but inspiration struck suddenly and I had a blast writing this 🥺 It has the first person POVs alternating between John and Veronica, I hope you'll like this fic even if it's so unusual for me! 🙏🏻✨️💕💕💕

Written for @johnica-weeks Day 2 - Stolen Book
Budapest, Magic Tour 1986.
A homesick John Deacon finds a little treasure as he wanders around the city, something that will make him feel close to home. But unfortunately, danger is always behind the corner while being on tour, and this time it took the form of Roger and Crystal Taylor.
A Johnica fic without Veronica??? More likely thank you think! 👀
This has been a funny experiment, but trust me I have nothing against Rog or Crystal, forgive me for choosing them as the antagonists 😅
WARNINGS: Mentions of drug use and alcoholism, which is why I rated this Mature.

My entry into Johnica Week 2023, “Those Crazy Notions”, is here! This is a oneshot fic based on the prompt “Selecting a Book for the Children”.
November 1985: John and Veronica are enjoying a romantic evening at home despite their recent marital strife. Their intimate time is interrupted by a sick Laura, whom they discover has a rather…unusual attachment to her books.
⚠️Content Warning: There are several mentions of vomit and the act of vomiting in this fic, though I tried not to be too graphic. If you’re squeamish consider yourself warned.

Written for @johnica-weeks 2023 - Day 1: Superhero AU (Johnica + Gen Queen)
Being a superhero past 30 years old was something John had ever expected when he joined the group ten years before, and yet here they were, all four, cleaning their bloody and broken gears, preparing to fight the evils once more. But this time, a much more subtle villain steps in, ready to creep in their minds.
It's been a long while since I wanted to write a superheroes AU and I've had a lot of fun writing this one This fic contains a lot of Gen dynamics other than Johnica and I'm very happy about it, to be honest.
