This is the first thing I ever saw of TLOU. Without knowing anything about the game, I felt her fear, I felt her anger, how her voice was shaking. I felt everything. Being able to portray these emotions so amazingly just hit me so hard it was unforgettable.

Ellie’s sprawled across the sofa, watching the fire and you have one of Joel’s shirts in your lap, like you’re actually going to mend it while you listen to him play his guitar, but you haven’t gotten past threading the needle.

“Silent Night,” Ellie says.

“I don’t take requests,” Joel answers, fingers strumming the strings, his big frame easy in the armchair. Still, he starts to play the carol.

“Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,/Alles schläft; einsam wacht…” he sings, low, soft, the way you’d sing a lullaby. He glances up at you, the smile all in his eyes, his mouth serious.

Just thinking about how next season we’re gonna see Joel sing and play guitar for Ellie … I’m not strong enough

he made her a guitar. crafted it himself. he made her a guitar. spent time in his little wood working room, hours at a time, crafting that just for her. including the moth symbol. making it as perfect as he could manage. he made her it before he even started teaching her how to play. he made her something that he loved. he loves music and guitar, and he hoped she would too. guitar was probably a comfort for him when he was a kid or a teenager. and he got to pass down that comfort to her, and we know it went to good use. we see in tlou2 how she uses it for comfort. she never passed up and opportunity to play, to remember him for a little while

*SIDE NOTE i literally just thought of but…ellie fell asleep to her memory of her and Joel at the museum while she was in the theater :’)

sarah putting on concerts at home as a kid except she deems herself the stage manager instead of the talent. she uses one of tommy’s old gaming headsets and one of joel’s clipboards from work, and she uses them to run a tight ship so everybody better listen!!!!!

so look i'm just saying 'cien años' is very much part II era joel and ellie, and it's from like the 50s so it totally exists in universe and i'm JUST SAYING...joel most definitely knows how to play it on the guitar and he sings it while he and ellie are fighting
