I AM SERIOUSLY HYPED FOR "THE PHANTOM MENACE"!!
It will be my first time watching it on the big screen (and in general, even though i got slightly spoiled by some clips and the books ^^; oops) and I am seriously so excited my mind won't shut up about it!! Not that it should, I've just returned to the Star wars fandom after a very long time of being away. Last time I watched anything Star wars related, it was The Clone Wars on TV. I was 12 years old - I'm 21 (turning 22) now. So yeah, I really can't wait! I feel so jumpy!! I miss being very excited since this year started off really bad for me. YAY :D

one thing that kind of makes me sad seeing all of the (extremely deserved) love that hayden christensen is getting since the kenobi show press tour, and ahmed best getting that (wonderful, extremely deserved) jedi role in the mandalorian, is the conspicuous absence of jake lloyd, who has not returned to the public eye in a similar way. mr lloyd also did not deserve the harassment that he got back when the movie came out, he was a literal child who did an amazing job with his role. the bullying and negativity must have been so difficult for him to manage growing up. as a bipolar person myself, i have so much empathy for the difficulty in managing schizophrenia. i just hope that somehow, somewhere he knows that prequels fans have so much love for him and appreciation for his work too

There's never a good reason to bully a child actor, but damn, poor Jake Lloyd wasn't even bad at all. He got given some goofy lines and the business with the droid control ship got a little silly but his actual acting? He really conveyed that mixture of vulnerability and boldness. He is brave, he takes all kinds of risks and initiatives, but there's a sense fear and resentment and tautness that underlies it all that really comes through to me.

Ewan McGregor entertains all the kids on set because he's a big kid himself.

just read the interview with jake lloyd's mother, lisa lloyd, about his experiences with schizophrenia since being in the phantom menace. i'm glad to hear that he's finally getting help and is reportedly improving, but i can't help but feel absolutely furious about the fact that he was jailed for TEN MONTHS for traffic violations and resisting arrest while in a psychotic episode. the cops wouldn't give him his meds, and denied him hospitalization because "the beds were full". ten fucking months of that. my god.
