This is for @starlightswitch, who very kindly prompted me '“scream” immediately makes me think of someone being so stressed/frustrated they need to go somewhere private and scream in order to let it out. Which obviously lends itself to them finding out the place wasn’t as private as they thought!' for today's prompt when I was wailing about being devoid of ideas for the last few days! This immediately made me think of Jack and Natalie from my forever unfinished monster of an original novel Two of a Kind.

Jack is one of the two main characters from a novel I've been writing for a very long time entitled Two of a Kind. He and Hal are both ex-street-kid musicians who spend the course of the novel very slowly realising that they are actually everything in the world to each other (they are the archetypal slow-burn idiots in love). Hal has a daughter, Natalie, who lives with her mother Anita and who has firmly adopted Jack. Jack is - well. Jack is hard to explain but he is very damaged, very unsocialised, and also incredibly grumpy (I apologise in advance for his language here!); meanwhile Hal is much calmer, but still rather damaged. They each play guitar in bands, Hal in one and Jack in another. By the point that this ficlet takes place, they have been living together in an established relationship for some time.
