Note
if you like crime/thriller, the series "in death" by J.D.Robb is very good, the plots are the central part of the books because there is always a crime to solve, but right in the first book the main character finds a romantic interest and you can follow along the development of the relationship over the course of the books is incredible. If it's something more focused on romance, however with an interesting plot, the invisible life of addie larue is very good, or the seven husbands of evelyn hugo (for queer characters). hmm, the song of the achilles is decent, but i didn't think the plot was that good, however the romance is heart melting. Love in the Time of Cholera is also amazing, but it's relatively dense.
BOOKS! YES! THANK YOU! i'm completely obsessed with anything true crime, so, yes, i like crime/thriller. the song of achilles i've started at least three times and, even though it technically checks every box for me, i could never get properly into it (so far? maybe one day idk). i'm also very into romance, obviously, so i appreciate all of these recs a lot. thank you so much 😭

Thinking of how Nora Roberts can write two amazing books in a year while I can’t even push 20,000 words in three months.

Secrets in Death
September 5th was the release date for quite a few anticipated books in series one of which is Secrets in Death. The new installment in the Eve Dallas futuristic murder mystery series.
If you haven’t read any of J.D. Robb’s Eve Dallas books then I have to ask WHY?
Do you like strong, quirky, fun independent female leads?
Do you like mysterious, sexy, male second leads?
Do you like a crime solving group of women that make their professions look downright AWESOME?!
Do you like imagining what life would be like in the not so distant future?
J.D. Robb’s books hit all these notes and more so it was with great anticipation that I counted down the clock to Secrets in Death’s release. Barely 16% of the way through the book and it’s already a heart pounding thriller.
Eve Dallas meets up with Dr. DeWinter for a long postponed drink when gossip queen Larinda Mars falls dead in the bar that her husband Roarke owns. Eve literally catches the case as she’s right there when Larinda goes down. Now Eve finds herself investigating the death of not just an on air gossip reported but a blackmailer as well.
Things get sticky as the investigation goes on and Eve learns secrets about people she never wanted to know.
I haven’t finished the book yet because I just got it but I can tell you this it does not disappoint. Sometimes when a series goes on too long it get stale. The characters and the plots become predictable and that’s the last thing you want in a murder mystery series. J.D. Robb dodges that bullet by having her main character Eve Dallas constantly growing as a character and turning murder scenes into introspective character building for Eve. The murders are never the same and it often reminds me of that t.v. show “A Thousands Ways to Die” where in they discuss insane ways people have died. There is literally  no limit to J.D. Robb’s creativity in this series. Here we are on book 45 and we still want to know more about Eve Dallas. That’s masterful story telling.
I will admit though...I’m ready for a pregnant Eve Dallas. I’m also ready for a nervous daddy Roarke. The comedy of that alone is enough to keep me coming back and reading these books.

Conspiração Mortal - J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts)
Tumblr media

I finished it.
In 3 nights, I finished Alanna The First Adventure, and now I’m jumping into J.D.Robb’s Naked In Death. I’m writing a crime series, so this is something I’m hoping will help.
Back to Alanna. I know I said it before, but I fell in love all over again. My first time was in Middle School, but now as an adult, I can appreciate different details that I hadn’t previously thought were important.
I just can’t put into words how much I appreciate this series.

"Then perhaps I shouldn't tell you that if I die first, I'm planning to come back to see you naked as often as possible." Her lips twitch, as he'd intended them to. " I'll be old, with my tits hanging to my waist." "You don't have enough tit to hang that low." She pursed her lips, looks down as if to check. "Good point. So we are good now?" "We maybe, if you come over here and kiss me. In payment for the insult."
