10: What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?

I was happiest, I think, when writing my junhao fic! It gave me no end of trouble when I was trying to tie all the loose ends together, but when I was just writing the Vibes I had the time of my life!

15: Rec a fic you wrote or posted in 2023

I am going to recommend my jeongbin gym bros fic. I will be honest, the majority of this was written back in 2021 - but I wrote the last half and finished it up this year, so it still counts haha.

20: Share your favourite ending line

I'm going to cheat and give you three lines, but my favourite ending is the ending of my junhao fic - I had a lot of trouble trying to think of a good way to finish the story, but in the end, I think this fits quite well.

‘Soonyoung brought back a relic,’ Minghao says, carefully. ‘We won’t have to go back for a while. We could — ’ He stops, for a moment, tips his head all the way back. ‘We could do something. Or go somewhere.’ ‘How about,’ Junhui suggests, ‘somewhere very far from the sea.’ And Minghao looks at him, and slips his fingers into Junhui’s, and laughs.

22: Share an excerpt from your favourite scene

So this is another excerpt from my junhao fic because I had it open and it was the only thing I could think of haha. In this scene, I like the way Minghao's Oddness is expanded on, a bit, and the way they both know what they saw, but are pretending they didn't because it's safer that way. I don't know. Mostly it's the vibes.

And it’s — really nice, actually, standing here in the kitchen with Minghao, getting dinner ready and talking about nothing much, and Junhui is finally feeling like Minghao might be softening towards him, just the slightest. And then Minghao’s knife slips. And it goes deep into his finger. And he pulls it out, and Junhui scrabbles for some bandages, but when he finally finds some, Minghao’s finger is fine. It’s not bleeding. Or — there’s no blood, but there’s water, a lot of it, and Minghao’s shoulders go up to his ears when he takes the bandages from Junhui and tries to sort his finger out himself. Junhui feels faint. ‘You’re bleeding,’ he informs Minghao. Informs his mind, his traitorous mouth. He knows what saltwater smells like. ‘You’re bleeding, there’s so much blood.’ And he takes Minghao’s finger and keeps his eyes studiously on the floor as he dips it into the basin and bandages it up. ‘There was so much blood,’ Junhui insists, once he’s done. He doesn’t want to think about it. He won’t. Minghao looks at him, once, quickly, searchingly. He’s pale. Junhui does his best to drain the seawater from his eyes. ‘Blood everywhere,’ Minghao mumbles. He turns away from Junhui. Lets Junhui nudge him out of the way and wash the herbs. ‘I saw it,’ Junhui tells the pans, and they finish cooking in silence.

24: What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?

So this year, Versity and I wrote a fic together. I've never collabed on a story before, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well our writing styles meshed, and how fun (and funny) she was to write with, and how smoothly the whole process went! Our finished story was very much something I wouldn't have come up with by myself, so I suppose you could say it changed the story?

30: What's something that you want to write in 2024?

Allow me to tell you about an idea I had a few hours ago, after we talked about Descendants earlier haha. Jafar briefly turns into a genie at some point in the original movie, and I thought - what if Jay was a little bit genie, too? He wouldn't necessarily know, on the Isle, since the barrier blocks their magic and all. So in 2024 I'd like to write a fic exploring that, how Jay might discover his genie magic in Auradon, how it might work. Also - I don't know if you've read J M Barrie's Peter Pan, but good form/bad form is a huge thing to his Hook (his Hook went to Eton, if my memory serves me correctly), and I thought it'd be very interesting to see what that might mean for Harry Hook, especially given the general lawlessness of the Isle.

11-5-23 Five Nights At Freddy’s (2023) :) I’ve been waiting for this ever since I was 13 and I had so much fun watching it. This was a highlight of my year!

11-12-23 Corpse Bride (2005) Really really good Tim Burton Halloween movie with so much stylization. So much fun to watch!!!! And so ethereal at times. MUST WATCH

11-12-23 Frankenweenie (2012) Very cute but disappointing ending, too safe. It could have been more impactful if they pushed it further. Watched this after corpse bride and the parallels were FUNNY.

12-24-23 Tangled (2010) (old rewatch) I forgot how good this movie was. ACTUALLY PEAK and so fun to revisit. Such a fresh take on a fairytale story, great songs, amazing romance, and also empowering about overcoming an abusive parent … MUST WATCH!!!

12-26-23 Klaus (2019) (rewatch) it’s so great to see a new 2D animated movie come out, and such a great story too. Cute origin story of Christmas and POSTAL WORKER APPRECIATION!!!!!

12-31-23 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) (rewatch) started off the year with this movie and then ended with it! What a treat!! I even wrote a short essay about it 1 semester ago :)

In conclusion, I love movies !!! But my favorite movies are those that are confident in their identities and don’t hold back. Like share your message to the fullest !!!!

I watched a lot of stop-motion movies this year. I wanna watch more studio ghibli movies next year

And maybe I should purposefully try watching bad movies… it might make me appreciate good ones more and easier see what they do right. But also. I really dont wanna watch ralph breaks the internet.

Hey all! Remember the concert @scribefindegil and I talked about performing back in August that ended up having technical difficulties for folks who tried to tune in to stream? I have good news - the convention posted the official video of our performance (this time with sound!) to their YouTube channel today.

Since this is now the largest repository of our music all in once place (especially some of our newer songs), I broke it down into a tracklist, so if you've never heard our music before, want to check out the new stuff, or just want to listen to a favorite song or two, they'd be easier to find.

(And yes, if you just want to see me play the electric kazoo while dressed as Raine Whispers, I have noted when it made its appearance)

If you haven't heard our stuff before, we're Astrisoni, a two-person viola-and-guitar filk (nerd folk, basically) duo that write songs about sci-fi, fantasy, our favorite stories, and all manner of adjacent topics. A handful of our songs are also available for purchase on our Bandcamp (where and and all support is always appreciated, especially since we're going through a bit of a rough patch)

Unbelievable year ... Fallen pop stars are returning, long time not seen artists are turning up in a best possible shape, producers making music under their own names, ... First of all I really enjoyed a few soundtracks this year especially Anthony Willis's Saltburn and Arnaud Rebotini's L'lle Rouge. Surprisingly I listened again on repeat a few DJ mixes too. Danny Tenaglia's new Global Underground was a pure treasure, James Zabiela's home session just made me dance for an hour in the living room, as well as Andy Butler's energetic set did too.

01. Roisin Murphy - Hit Parade - "If Hit Parade isn’t Murphy’s best album, it’s certainly her wildest and weirdest. Nowhere else is the scale of her ambition more evident than on the percussive and atmospheric “Free Will.” Murphy says she doesn’t believe in free will but that you should “just make believe that you can write the play” anyway. It’s yet another indelible statement that couldn’t come from anyone else." - Slant Magazine

day 22 of folkbruary- stone circle

out of all the stone circles on the isles, i have the most intimate relationship with stonehenge as a result of spending the past year and a bit squatting land nearby in protest of the proposed road expansion and tunnel within the world heritage site. to be in the company of the stones is a truly awe-inspiring experience. the lines between millennia blur, and the space is considered sacred by many across the world. they truly are everyone’s stones, which is why i want to raise the alarm on what our government is up to.

for anyone unaware of what’s going on, the governmental transport body National Highways (formerly highways england) are gearing up to start work on expanding the a303 around stonehenge, which is just one of their many destructive road expansion schemes currently underway. involving the construction of a new dual carriageway, a 4.5km long tunnel, expanding the roundabouts either end and making new flyovers. Despite a high court judge ruling against the project on environmental grounds in 2021, highways are currently handing out contracts to construction and security companies (to take on protesters). autonomous activists continue to hold ground nearby, raising awareness of the environmental impacts of road expansion projects like this.

key issues with this project:

-road expansion & the climate crisis. pretty obvious really. construction companies actively add to carbon emissions with the high use of oil-powered machines, the felling of ancient trees, hedgerows and grasslands and concreting over large swathes of land (most of which is only used in the construction process then sold off as ‘brown sites’ to developers).

-also new roads = new traffic. it’s a documented phenomena, called the ‘induced traffic effect’. if you want to reduce traffic, we should obviously spend this money on improving local public transport schemes.

-a little known fact about the stonehenge world heritage site is that it is the largest untouched chalk grassland habitat in Europe. there are many species native to or reliant upon these plains, such as the adonis blue butterfly, kestrels, hen harriers, etc. that are directly threatened by this scheme.

-UNESCO have warned that they may revoke World Heritage Status if the plans go ahead. In doing so, this opens up the land (especially all the brown sites that they will create with the road project) to developers. Further habitation loss and destruction of sites of archeological interest will follow.

- there’s a chalk aquifer beneath stonehenge that has been supplying humans living on the plains with water since the end of the last ice age. It has also been crucial to the preservation of archeological artefacts in the area. The tunnel plans will bore directly through it, affecting the delicate hydrogeology of the entire site. Untold artefacts will be lost, and carcinogens from the chalk will leak into the local water supply, rivers, etc.

this ended up being a pretty long post, and the first of this nature I’ve made since making this blog, but i couldn’t draw a stone circle without bringing light to the fight on our hands right now. for more information, updates and petitions, check out stonehenge alliance’s website:

(also there’s probably going to be a lot of Eberwolf and Darius hcs because I’m currently obsessed, sorry if that bothers you)

-Hettie tried to dissect Eberwolf once. Ever since then, Eber has been terrified of healers in general.

-Eberwolf is on record for arson and petty thievery, but if he hears even a rumor that you’re abusing animals, he’s not above adding murder to that list.

-None of the coven heads know about the basilisks in the basement, though a few of them are getting suspicious of where all this sudden information on the anatomy of basilisks is coming from.

-There’s a sort of three way understanding between Vitmir, Hettie and Terra that their jobs will intersect much more than is ideal, so they generally get along.

-Eberwolf usually gets up around 5 AM, purely to spite everyone around him. He’s like a cat, he burns off energy by running around and waking everyone up.

-Vitmir puts coffee in his cereal, as though it was milk. Monstrous, I know.

-Mason and Raine are the only coven heads who actually got their positions by moving up the ranks. Everyone else either got it because they murdered the previous head, they had connections, or they went through “The Gauntlet” (I know that’s a terrible name but I couldn’t think of anything else.)

-”The Gauntlet” is a highly dangerous way of becoming coven head. If a coven head position is vacant and Belos can’t find a replacement, the three top students on the boiling isles (one from each school) are required to fight each other to the death upon graduation. Winner gets the position. Yes, I have put way too much thought into this little fictional universe.

-The coven heads have an old storage room in the castle basement that they use to hide from Terra. Everyone who knows is sworn to secrecy.

-Eberwolf went to St. Epiderm. He got expelled for allegedly burning the gym down three days before graduation.

My headcanons on the coven heads

-It’s a constant competition. Everyone is one-upping everyone else, and it definitely got to the point where someone had to be talked off a roof at one point.

-The head witches refer (at work at least) to Raine as “Whispers” or “The new one”. No exceptions.

-Vitmir (potions coven) is slowly dying of poison because he never opened a goddamn window while brewing for fear of “Corrupting the potion” and breathed in to many vapors. He wears the mask so the other coven heads don’t get poisoned. It’s a bit of an open secret among the coven heads

-Terra is sweet on Osran (oracle coven). The two used to date.

-Osran has a restraining order on Terra.

-After the incident between Terra and Osran, it is strictly forbidden for coven heads to date each other.

-Eberwolf often has to be forced to put shoes on. The person who forces him is usually Darius.

-Even though Darius technically ranks higher than Terra, everyone is more afraid of Terra.

-The last head bard was murdered. Him “retiring” was cover up. Who stabbed him is still up for debate, but the rumor is that Mason (construction coven) did it.

-Eberwolf steals everyone’s lunch. No one has any idea it’s him, and several physical fights have broken out because of it.

-Adrian is addicted to caffeine, and everyone knows it.

-There’s a massive pay imbalance among the coven heads, but because of the “no sharing salaries” rule, no one knows it.

-because of the pay imbalance, you’ll find some of the coven heads have second, everyday jobs, like Raine, who teaches violin on the weekends, Mason, who has his own family business (general store), and Eberwolf, who has a job as a stablehand.

-Hettie (healing coven) is the last person the other head witches would go to for their injuries. Mostly because she has personal grudges against a lot of them.

-Adrian is constantly passive-aggressive towards Raine, because he feels like Raine is constantly trying to make a fool of him and he’s insecure.

-Vitmir is very suspicious of Darius and Eberwolf’s friendship, as all of the other coven heads are constantly at each other’s throats.

-Eberwolf actually is a direwolf, as in the boiling isles direwolves are a type of biped demons. (Credit to @enfireno for correcting me on the difference between demons and witches on this one)

-Darius and Eberwolf live together, mostly because Eberwolf can’t open jars.

-Raine has accidentally pissed off half the other head witches by now.

-Eberwolf has ADHD but because no one has any understanding of mental disorders on the BI beyond “that persons off their rocker” he can’t get anyone to understand that he simply CANT pay attention, that he WANTS to do what he’s told, but he CANT.

I feel like the titles for the specials are really interesting. “Thanks to them” sounds like an acknowledgment of how people have impacted the hexsquad and the BI as a whole. But that has a double meaning. On the one hand, it could refer to the hexsquad, especially Luz thinking and talking about how the people they left behind on the boiling isles cared about them and tried to keep them safe, and did to some extent. It’s about the family they left behind, and the rebels who tried to save them, and especially about King, who is the reason they are all alive.

On the other hand, it could be a sarcastic ‘thanks’ to the the people who impacted them in a negative way, namely the Wittebane brothers. Caleb who didn’t know how to deal with his problems, so he ran away from them, pushing Philip away. Philip who killed his brother and terrorized the BI for hundreds of years. Phillip, who made Hunter and the grimwalkers. And of course, a thanks to Caleb, the start of this whole tragedy and the reason for Hunter’s existence. A thanks to them, for this miserable existence.

And so I think this episode will cover grief over loved ones lost and a bit about the history of how this whole thing started. I mean, the poster is in a cemetery, and those are all about the past.

Okay but all of the Hex Squad’s complex feelings towards the human realm?

Hunter, who heard all these stories from his uncle that he was fascinated by, who is a clone of a human (a statue of whom is literally in the town), who loves learning new things and has probably been talking to Gus. Bus instead he just saw his uncle get killed by a kid in front of him (which on its own is a lot to deal with), and then ran to the human realm, where it pretty much all started. Where he will find out how intertwined his history is with the town’s. Where he will have a near constant reminder of the town seal, the Golden Guard sigil, and the weight of that legacy. Plus the fact that Belos is probably in the human realm too, and will go after him if possible.

Gus, who spent years learning all he could about the human realm, who has a collection of human items in his room. Gus who wanted to be an ambassador to the human realm and so wanted to experience the rain. And he did, after losing everything and everyone but the hex squad. Gus who in what should have been an amazing moment playing in the rain, fell to the ground sobbing. And, he saw Belos’ memories of him killing his brother, which is traumatizing on his own, especially since he looks exactly like Hunter, which Gus is more than smart enough to figure out. And he may not know who he can talk to about it. And seeing that statue every time they go into town won’t help. Gus who every time they turn on the news, gets a reminder of his dad, who he has no idea whether he is okay or not, or when he can see him again.

Willow, who heard all about the human realm from Gus. Who probably got a bit excited about it. Who’s best friend is a human. And her entire world got turned upside down, with no idea what happened to her dads or everyone else on the isles. It was her idea to go to the human realm, and now they are stuck for who knows how long.

Amity, who’s girlfriend is a human, who gets to meet her girlfriend’s mom, and is probably nervous about it and wants to make a good impression and seem perfectly okay. Even though within two days her family fell apart, she had to leave her dying dad behind, she tried to stop the literal emperor, failed, and had to run for her life to the human realm, with no knowledge of what happened to her family or if the twins were okay since they were left behind with Odalia?. Who has no idea when she her family again, or what it will be like when she does.

And Luz. Luz who is a human, but never fit in. She was probably bullied and has no friends in the realm besides the ones she brought with her. Liz who ran away from the human realm to escape her life there. Luz who tried to stay behind with her family, but King pushed into the portal, which immediately closed behind her. Luz who promised to never go back to the only place she’s ever been happy, and thought she had much more time before she had to go back. Luz who now that she promised to stay may never see her found family again, and while she loves Camila so much and is glad to see her mom again, she misses her mom on the boiling isles, who supported her in a way Camila couldn’t. Luz who has no idea what is happening on the BI but thinks it is her fault.

I really hope they have the time in season 3 to go into this because there is so much there to unpack.

My #1 post of 2022

I want to see “golden child” Caleb who was a bit weird but maybe decently liked by the towns people. A Caleb that maybe had a messed up home, whether that was because of witch hunts or something else. Caleb who could get away with things Philip couldn’t because everyone thought he was a golden child, and Philip was the scapegoat, which was the beginning of the problem in their relationship. Caleb who had a bit of a dark sense of humor, but could hide it under his “normal” sweet self. Caleb who saw terrible things and tried his best to look out for Philip, who wasn’t well liked in town. Caleb who didn’t quite agree with the witch hunts, but went along with it or even partially participated in it, at first because he thought it was right, and then for his survival. Caleb who got so terrified he ran to a different realm to escape his problems, making Philip feel betrayed, abandoned, or drove a wedge in their relationship. Caleb who thought he finally found a life he was happy in and finally started to heal, only to be murdered by his brother for moving on.

I want a Caleb who wasn’t a perfect sweetheart, but who closed off from the world because of all the shit he’d seen and then had to learn that it was okay to be open and kind, and unteach himself some of his coping mechanisms that didn’t help him anymore. I want a Caleb who ran from all his problems, just like Eda and Luz.

Violets : have been associated with lesbian love since the 6th century, thanks to the work of the greek poet Saphho, from the isle of Lesbos.

Violets as a symbol of lesbian love rose again in 1926, when Édouard Bourdet’s play The Captive showed a female character sending another woman a violet bouquet .

Although the symbolism of the actual flowers faded with time, the pale purple color would come to represent LGBTQ+ empowerment in later years. In the 1960s and 70s, demonstrators and activists wore lavender during events .

A Journey to the Soul of Scotland - Premium Whisky

Islay, often referred to as the & Queen of the Hebrides,& boasts a rich, well-documented history dating back to the first century AD. Nestled beneath Scotland's expansive skies and amidst breathtaking landscapes, it beckons nature enthusiasts, bird lovers and aficionados of fine whisky. This Island has undergone numerous transformations over the years, encompassing shifts in culture and scenery, and stands as a significant contributor to the British economy. Spanning approximately 620 square kilometres, Islay ranks as the fifth-largest Scottish island out of over 700, making it the eighth-largest island within the British Isles. Surprisingly, its population is a modest 3,000 souls. From early hunter-gatherer societies around 10,000 BC, through the closing chapter of the Ice Age and into the Mesolithic Period, Islay’s storied past has allowed scholars to examine artefacts and architecture from prehistoric to modern eras. It was also the historical seat of the Lords of the Isles at Finlaggan, a clan that held sway over much of the Highlands and Islands. The capital, Bowmore, is home to the first licensed Islay distillery, founded in 1779, renowned for its production of Islay Malts.

Whisky is savoured and cherished in diverse ways: alone or in the company of friends, with or without water or on ice, whether it & Scotch, Indian, or Bourbon, whether it's aged to perfection or relatively young. Just as Bordeaux is celebrated for its wine and Guanajuato for its Tequila, Islay is renowned for its peaty nectar—whisky. It has firmly established its reputation as & The Whisky Isle' and is home to nine distilleries among Scotland& 145 active ones, with two more poised to join the whisky-making scene

this year. Over the past two decades, I& relished whisky across continents, countries, and cultures. However, savouring a whisky in its raw form in Islay, directly from the cask in the Distillery Warehouse, offers an entirely distinctive experience. My Islay whisky trail lasted 5 days and across 9 distilleries, interspersed with pairings, Islay Meals and nature walks.

The Trail started at Ardbeg, which was established in 1815 and owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. Ardbeg produces a heavily peated Islay whisky, emphasising aromas and spices, including sweeter tones like chocolate and vanilla. During the 1980s and 1990s, Ardbeg suffered from an uncertain future and its doors closed in 1981 for several years. Although they re-opened later that decade, Ardbeg shut down again in 1996. The brand was purchased by The Glenmorangie Company in 1997 which saved the Distillery from extinction. In 2000, The Ardbeg Committee was formed to ensure that the doors of Ardbeg would never close again. This dedicated following of global fans now comprises 180k members in over 130 countries. In 2021 work was completed on a multi-million pound investment in a new still house, doubling production capacity. The new Ardbeg range displays innovation while effectively preserving the legacy of a renowned distillery in a contemporary whisky style. The visitor centre and bistro also underwent renovation, and the Distillery introduced a new Ardstream food truck for tourists and locals alike during the pandemic which was a huge success. The trailer sells Burgers, steaks, sausages, warm salads, cookies at price points between BP 6-22. I had a delightful experience, holding warm bread and savoring delicious cookies. Furthermore, this refurbished American trailer also offers customers the chance to prepare pizza using a custom-made wood-burning pizza oven.

राजवर्धन आज़ाद की नई किताब : “नीम का शहद” आद्योपांत पढ़ा।बारंबार पढ़ने का मन हुआ,इसलिए कई बार पढ़ा ।

इस किताब के बारे में कुछ कहने से पहले, एक वाक़या शेयर करना चाहूँगा । सुप्रसिद्ध हार्ट सर्जन डॉ पी. वेणु गोपाल से एम्स,दिल्ली में भेँट हुई ।उन्होंने मेरे बड़े भाई की ओपेन हार्ट सर्जरी की थी- जहां तक मुझे याद है,वह तारीख़ थी 12 जनवरी 1992 ! मैंने उनके प्रति कृतज्ञता प्रगट की और उन्होंने आत्मीय भाव से मेरी ओर देखा । मैं उनका फ़ैन हो गया ।बाद के बर्षों में जब उन्होंने सफलतापूर्वक पहला हार्ट ट्रांसप्लांट सर्जरी किया और एक के बाद एक नयी ऊँचाइयों को छूने लगे- तभी किसी इंटरव्यू में उनसे किसी ने सवाल किया, “डॉक्टर साहब,आप शत प्रतिशत सफलता के साथ इतने सारे कठिन सर्जरी कैसे कर लेते हैं ?”

डॉक्टर वेणु गोपाल ने बड़ी सादगी से ऊपर ईश्वर की ओर देखने की मुद्रा में जवाब दिया, “आइ सिम्पली मूव माइ हैंड्स, रेस्ट एवरीथिंग इज डन बाइ द ऑलमाइटी हिमसेल्फ” !

डॉ. पी. वेणु गोपाल जैसे सुविख्यात हार्ट सर्जन और डॉ. राजबर्धन आज़ाद जैसे सुविख्यात रेटिनल सर्जन की सृजन शक्तियों में यह ‘कॉमन थ्रेड’ नजर आया - इसलिए मैंने उस वाक़ये की चर्चा की । कोई ज़रूरी नहीं है कि उनके अन्य विचार भी एक-दूसरे से मिलते ही हों । मुझे लगता है कि किसी भी सफल और ईमानदार प्रोफेशनल के लिए- चाहे साइंटिस्ट,डॉक्टर , इंजीनियर हो , लेखक या किसी अन्य विधा में पारंगत व्यक्ति - “ग्रैटिच्युड” प्राईम मूवर है - “Finding smoother pebbles on the sea shore” (न्यूटन)

“नीम का शहद” के सभी 240 कविताओं को पढ़कर,रचनाकार में वही भाव दिखे जिसमें कहीं कर्ता होने का लेश मात्र कोई दंभ नहीं है।

किसी रचनाकार की कृतियों को पढ़ने से पहले, मेरा सहज स्वभाव है कि यह जानूँ कि उसने अपनी कृति किन्हें समर्पित किया है और खुद अपनी बात में, उनका क्या कहना है ?

इन्होंने “जिन लक्ष्मी दुर्गा सरस्वती” को अपनी यह पहली कृति समर्पित किया है,उन्हें उसी श्रद्धा के साथ प्रणाम करता हूँ जिन्हें महर्षि अरविन्द ‘प्लेन्स ऑफ कॉन्शसनेस’ सत्-चित्-आनन्द ( Existence-Consciousness-Bliss ) कहते हैं - ये ही मोटिवेशन की अक्षय ऊर्जा के स्रोत हैं।

“अपनी बात” में रचनाकार ने प्रयोगवादी नई कविता का ज़िक्र करते समय अज्ञेय द्वारा सम्पादित ‘दूसरा सप्तक’ की चर्चा की है- अपने स्कूली जीवन के दौरान अज्ञेय कृत गद्य रचनाएँ यथा: “नदी के द्वीप”; “शेखर : एक जीवनी” पढ़ पाया,पर ‘दूसरा सप्तक’ मैंने अभी तक नहीं पढ़ा था । राज वर्धन जी की प्रेरणा से,

अज्ञेय सम्पादित “तार सप्तक”, “दूसरा सप्तक” , “तीसरा सप्तक” और “चौथा सप्तक” के दरवाज़ों पर सिर्फ़ दस्तक देकर ताका-झांका- इसी क्रम में, अज्ञेय की प्रिय कविता, “दु:ख सबको माँजता है” की यादें ताज़ा हो गईं ।

”नदी के द्वीप” उपन्यास के शुरुआती पन्ने पर ‘अज्ञेय’ ने पी.बी. शेली की कविता उद्धरित कर इसका अनुवाद इस तरह से किया है:

दु:ख सबको मांजता है

व्यथा के गहरे और फैले सागर में

कई हरे - भरे द्वीप भी अवश्य होंगे

नहीं तो थका-हारा सागरिक

कभी ऐसे यात्रा करता न रह सकता!”

“नीम का शहद” काव्य संग्रह में रचनाकार ने अपनी अकुलाहट,छटपटाहट,मानवीय संवेदनाओं को कम-से-कम शब्दों में कहने का प्रयास किया है ।किसी एक कविता में औसतन 50 शब्द ही पूरे पेज पर दिखेंगे (हो सकता है,कुछ कविताओं में अधिकतम 100 शब्द भी मिल जायें ) पर वे आपको ‘गागर में सागर’ की तरह महसूस होंगे । सभी कविताएँ स्वत:स्फूर्त हैं ।ये सब ’देखन में छोटन’ भले लगते हों,पर ‘गंभीर घाव’ नहीं करते बल्कि अंधेरे से वास्तविकता की ओर ले जाते हैं मानो ज्योति के लिए तरस रहे किसी मरीज़ के आँख की पट्टी खुलते ही अचानक रोशनी दिख जाने पर उसके चेहरे पर उल्लास की ख़ुशी दमक उठे ! रचना काल 2021 - 22 है जो कोरोना-काल की यादें लेकर दर्द का एहसास भी ताज़ा कराता है ।

अपने रोज़मर्रा ज़िंदगी के ऐसे ‘डिफाइनिंग मोमेंट्स’ को बिना किसी आयास के कम से कम शब्दों में गढ़ने की अद्भुत क्षमता है रचनाकार में - उनमें यह नैसर्गिक गुण ईश्वर प्रदत्त है। वे ‘ओम्’ की असीम शक्ति कम से कम शब्दों में पिरोना चाहते हैं जिसे वे ‘मौन की अभिव्यक्ति’ के रूप में देखते हैं - यही तो असली साधना और इबादत है ।

‘कर्टेन रेजर’ के बतौर “नीम का शहद” काव्य संग्रह से , मात्र सात कविताएँ शेयर कर रहा हूँ जिन्हें ‘सप्तक’ की तरह पढ़कर शेष दो सौ तैंतीस ( 233 ) कविताओं का रसास्वादन करने की उत्कंठा आपमें बनी रहे और राजकमल प्रकाशन का यह अनूठा काव्य संग्रह , मूल्य 895 रू. ( आमेजन पर उपलब्ध हार्ड कवर 605/- रूपये में ) आप मंगा कर पढ़ सकें ।

चालीसा पढ़ रहे हैं

कुदरत का है क़हर

परवरदिगार बेख़बर

हर गाँव हर शहर

हम रहमत ढूँढ़ रहे हैं

बढ़ने की राह प्रशस्त किया

हम सबको सँभाल दिया

पापा तुमने साहस देकर

कवच में हमको ढ़ाल दिया

हम तो चाहते हैं तुम दोनों

अनन्त काल तक संग रहो

ईश्वर की ��ी है इच्छा

समस्त परिवार के अंग रहो

पर जीवन तो क्षणभंगुर है

यही तो है इसका स्यापा

कब तक साथ चलोगी मॉं तुम

जिसने पढ़ डाला

एक लौ जिसने

किया उजाला

एक शक्ति पुंज

अनन्त वाला

हर दशक की

अपनी झलक

थोड़ी ललक

थोड़ी कसक

मेरे संग थे

मेरे उसूल

घर बना

हमारा गुरूकुल

अंत में, मेरे मन में यह जिज्ञासा उठी कि डॉ. राजवर्धन आज़ाद ने अपने इस खूबसूरत काव्य संग्रह के शीर्षक का नाम “नीम का शहद” ही क्यों चुना ?

क्या इसलिए कि विश्व रूप दर्शन कराने के लिए श्रीमद्भागवत गीता के ग्यारहवें अध्याय में वर्णित, “पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि” की दिव्य दृष्टि चाहिए जो भगवत्कृपा के बिना संभव नहीं है, अत: साधारण ऑंखों से, उन चकाचौंध तेज शक्ति-पुंज के सौम्य दर्शन हेतु, कोरेंटाइन औषधीय गुणों से परिपूर्ण “नीम का शहद” एक प्रयोगात्मक प्रतीक ( Allegorical Significance ) के रूप में सहजता प्रदान कर सके ?

मेरा यह पूर्ण विश्वास है कि “नीम का शहद” कृति को अप्रत्याशित सफलता मिलेगी । डॉक्टर राजवर्धन आज़ाद को दिल की गहराइयों से बहुत बहुत बधाई , हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ एवं अनेकों धन्यवाद - भगवान श्री राम एवं माता जानकी की कृपा उनके समस्त परिवार पर सदैव बनी रहे !
