Starandsims Introduction
Tumblr media
Hello and welcome to my simblr! Here you'll find links to my gameplay as I play through different challenges, legacies, and just whatever I feel like doing!
Currently Playing:
The Carter Legacy - a decades challenge following the Carter family, currently on gen 2 circa 1910
The Poche Legacy - a Pokémon type legacy challenge following the Poche family, currently on gen 1 normal type
Personal information and more under the cut
My name is Star (she/her) and I've been simming since the Sims 2, I have a lot of nostalgia for the old console games since I didn't have a computer until Sims 3 and didn't have a gaming computer until Sims 4. I'm mostly Maxis Match, I like to think I don't use a ton of mods and CC but in reality my mods/cc foster is overflowing.
Please feel free to ask me anything or comment about my characters and stories! Constructive criticism is welcome but please always be positive and encouraging in your delivery! I'm an adult but I still get my feelings hurt sometimes! I would say I'm WCIF friendly but the truth is I might not able to figure out where something is from. I don't use reshade or gshade or photoshop, I just edit my photos in Canva so my screenies don't always look professional but I strive to do my best and focus more on writing and story!
I am NOT a builder, most of the builds in my game are downloaded from the gallery. I do so appreciate all the builders out there and will always post somewhere what build I'm using, but I won't put it on each and every post! My playstyle is to use random traits and follow the whims of sims, for example I never try for a baby unless at least one (or sometimes even both) person has the whim for it (I do lock in the whim though lol). I never save and start over, whatever happens happens and I live with it and try to use it in the story.
I use a custom lifespan with MCCC in which every four sim days is a year, I use 14 day seasons and generally have at least two holidays in a season. This is just what makes the most sense to my brain and I have a personal handwritten timeline for each save to keep up with when things happen and use that to inform when relationships should progress and precisely how old sims are.
I focus on a lot of family gameplay, I rarely play just one sim unless I'm just starting a save - and even then I usually make some sims to be their family and friends going into the save. I do a minimal amount of rotational gameplay through my saves, I usually focus on one specific household and then occasionally will go through other households in the save to clean them up and things like that. Maybe spend a day or two with them just to see what's going on and then return to my main household.
I am an adult and a lot of my stories will involve more mature themes, if you are under 18 then I would strongly suggest you avoid posts that are more mature in nature. Everything will be tagged and more explicit posts will also have a warning in the title, but use abundant caution just in case! If anything is ever missed in tagging I respectfully ask that you message me privately to alert me!

book ask 24?
24. Did you DNF anything? Why?
(sidenote i continue to be charmed by the use of DNF as an infinitive rather than as an already-conjugated verb phrase)
no! it's a personal failing of mine. i will finish a book even if i think it's garbage. but here are a list of books i would have Did-Not-Finish-ed if i were a different person who did that sort of thing, alongside my assessment of whether or not that would have been a mistake:
The Lark and the Wren by Mercedes Lackey. i could have safely did-not-finished this one without much loss.
La Fin du Chéri by Colette. i definitely should have given up on this. i had no idea what was happening and also i hated it. and the ending was stupid!!
The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu. it was long and there were several things about the style i didn't like, HOWEVER, i ended up loving this series so i would have really missed out if i gave up on it. (<-this is why i never give up on books i'm not into even if the majority of them do not end up being worth it :/)
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang. this is the first book in a trilogy and i didn't end up feeling like the author was really doing anything interesting until the last 50 pages of the last book. should definitely have given up.
Vingt mille lieues sous les mers by Jules Verne. i'll be honest, there were times when i wanted to bury this book six feet under. there are only so many recitations of fish species one person can take. but i'm glad i finished it because it's a classic and now i get to have informed opinions about it, and also i went back and read the preface by the editor afterward and it put all the fish recitation into a new light for me (while also validating how no one likes reading those parts lol).
i'm currently reading Le Robert de poche french dictionary, but i don't think that counts as a DNF because i'm planning to finish it, it's just taking a while. also it's one of the most fascinating books i've ever read.

hello. i’ve been reading your thoughts about conte and i agree with some of your thoughts. i’m also reading comments from people and trying to get a better understanding about the situation. if you suggest we should sack him, who do you think would be a good replacement? considering that whoever the manager is, it’s still gonna be a challenge if the owners or the club keeps doing nothing to back the manager. as i understand it, this situation has become a cycle and it can’t be fixed by only changing managers (or do you think it actually could?) thank you! sorry if you have talked about this before and i probably missed it.
hello!! this ended up being really long so i'll put it under a read more
so to be completely honest i don't really have an answer on who i think should come in next. i know tuchel's name keeps getting thrown about and i did like what he did at chelsea (he's the only chelsea manager i've ever liked whilst they were managing them haha) but surely at some point we have to move away from the ex-chelsea manager thing lmao it is a little bit embarrassing us always going after their castoffs. i'm really torn on poch coming back because i think it might be too soon, but then at the same time, there's only really 5 players left from his time so there's plenty of new ears that would be listening to him and he would play better football than we've got now. i know a lot of people still think potter could do a job but i think he'd be out of his depth with us too, i've not seen a single thing from him at chelsea that makes me think actually yeah he'd be a good fit for us, and i wasnt overly impressed with him at swansea (cooper did better with a worse squad) so i personally dont want him anywhere near us. after poch i was actually like 'i'd settle for howe' and i think he's done great job at newcastle but unless they sack him for a big name or something, he's not leaving them for us. at this point in time though i really just feel like anyone but fucking conte, i shouldn't be physically at matches thinking if i closed my eyes i could easily fall asleep lmao. it's awful that my dad (and others) didn't go to the north london derby of all games because they just can't stand to watch us play right now.
i do agree that we shouldn't just keep sacking managers. the only club that's worked for is chelsea but they thrive from chaos lmao and we are not them. we have been better when we stuck with a manager. however, conte isn't showing me anything that makes me think 'yeah he just needs a bit of time to sort this out'. but whatever happens even if we don't sack conte now, he's not going to be here in the summer and i've said that since the start of this season. there's no point in backing a manager now if he's not going to be here in the summer because then you just end up with a new manager with a bunch of players that aren't his own and especially with the way conte loves older players.
i think the whole backing managers thing isn't necessarily black and white. personally i think conte was backed last january in a way that poch never was. conte was definitely back in the summer with the likes of richarlison - i'm still shocked we paid so much money for him (i like him but i'm not sure he's worth 60m to us - but maybe we'll get more out of him next season). we've also cleared out players under conte (okay some only on loan but they're not physically at the club) which we didn't seem willing to do before him. when you look at poch's last summer he was backed with the money we spent on ndombele, lo celso and sess and clarke - but firstly it was too late, and secondly especially with ndombele it wasn't money well spent. sess is the only one still at the club and bless his soul he's not having the best time. so i think there's an element of we actually are willing to back managers now, but we just don't seem to be spending the money well. paratici is now the one who is meant to be dealing with all this, and i think it's unfair that when it's a signing people like they praise him but when they don't like it they blame levy. i think paratici's signings have been a bit hit and miss, and i don't trust his taste in managers at all. i don't think he's the guy for us, and all the stuff with the investigations in to juve leave me a bit nervous tbh.
i think levy needs to accept these big superstar managers just aren't for us. we are never going to act like chelsea when it comes to spending money, so bringing someone in who complained that chelsea didn't spend enough money for him was never going to work. i think we need to take a step back, get someone in who is actually willing to work on a project and plays somewhat progressive football. i was willing to give mourinho a chance and move away from how i was used to watching us play in exchange for actually success with trophies, but after him and now conte (who is absolutely shite in cups lmao) not working i just want to go back to enjoying watching my team. if we're not going to win trophies i'd rather we play with some flair and excitement than not win trophies still and be absolutely horrific to watch. i also want my manager to feel like he is part of the club, and not someone who's just doing us a favour and we should all be so thankful because he was successful at other clubs, you know?
to sum it up - a change in manager to someone who is actually willing to coach and improve players does fix a lot of problems, but the club need to take a look at themselves. if you are not going to back a manager and spend the money like chelsea then don't bring in managers that can only work with that. go back to what we know works and is sustainable but just spend money more wisely when we do spend big, then we will be grand.
i know a lot of people found windy annoying for being very anti-mourinho but i think his little blog post here sums up how i feel quite well too

what's frustrating is we get managers who have won before. we're not pulling a chelsea and being shocked that we aren't winning trophies when we have a manager (potter) who never has. so it just makes US look shit rather than the manger. like idk how much this is the players just being shit or the manager being awful with this group in particular
the thing about us getting managers who've won before is that the ones we've gone after specifically have a philosophy and management style that doesn't fit the club's reality. this club has lost its way in terms of a clear philosophy or way of playing/recruiting BUT regardless of any of the theoretical "we want to be a club that does X" talk - this club realistically cannot and will never operate as a "win now" club under our current ownership. that's not even inherently a criticism of them, when done correctly and successfully that can be a fine club model - the issue of course is we are acting delusionally.
we're not a club that will spend half a billion in 2 transfer windows. We can afford to spend a lot more than we do but we do not have the funds to start throwing money around like that and quite frankly given our high profile flops year after year i can see us announcing the £150 million signing of alvaro morata if we did. but if you're not a club that will do that why are you bothering to bring managers in that demand that sort of backing? why are you hiring a manager you immediately don't completely see eye to eye with from day 1? what exactly is the plan here? what vision have we sold these managers on?
out of poch, jose, nuno (gone too soon fly high king), and conte the most shocked I've been at us not winning anything has been under poch. not the "serial winners". there was an idea, a project, a concept etc etc under poch with young players coming in and ACTUALLY BEING COACHED to be better and create a squad that all bought into what the manager was trying to do. the transfers themselves had the usual Tottenham hit or miss to them but you had a sense that every single person involved was moving towards the same thing.
us not winning under jose or conte is v embarrassing (even though i find us being the one blip in jose's resume so funny i cant begin to explain) but i don't think it's a sole reflection on us. it's never just one thing that goes off the rails. it's a combination of players and the manager and the ownership coming together to maximise their joint flop.
it's not all on jose/conte for us not winning things (player mentality and ability and the general squad are all absolutely massive factors) but those managers should have improved our performances. granted jose got us to a final he never got to manage so it's hard to fully judge his legacy in that way but he flopped in enough competitions and oversaw as much crap football as conte so if he'd been sacked at the end of the season no one would have cared too much which says everything.
since the end of poch's tenure we have been on a downward spike so bad it wouldn't even fit on a graph if i tried to show it visually. the fact none of those managers have improved our style of play or the player's mentality or managed to win anything with players that let's face it are shit but mostly bloody internationals for god's sake makes a lot of the "back the manager" rhetoric feel hollow and like a scapegoat which is insane because it is an actual problem. it means the manager absolutely 100% HAS to take a minimum of a third of the blame.
these players are playing like shit though. part of that will be on conte because of his tactics, his subs, the information that the players may or may not understand it's hard to tell from how they play and what seems to be an inability to actually improve players other than bentancur. i mean good god perisic is literally a conte type player who has played and done well under conte and he is a disaster out there - how are you failing to improve your own good player???
like yes romero and davies and dier (and perisc and royal) is not the defence from heaven but it should be conceding less. son, kane and kulu actually IS an attack from heaven and yet I'm not convinced they could tell me what a goal looks like let alone how to score in it. part of that's on conte and whatever he's doing with them. part of that will be on the players and this mentality block/ lack of effort/ no concentration/urgency they tend to display for no rhyme or reason. it's like the style of slow backwards passing lethargic wasteful play is ingrained in our DNA at this point because 4 managers haven't escaped it. and so at a certain point that's on the players.

I think it's cute that Ney finally found in kyky a friend that is as touchy as himself
Me too😭. I swear i get a year younger whenever I see Kylian smile so widely when Neymar hugs or kisses his bald head😭😭 and Neymar always just looks so proud of him. I've seriously missed them interacting on the pitch this season (the lack of neybappe goals is depressing--thanks a lot poch) but their friendship is still everything to me and I adore them very very much, almost as much as they adore each other.

English version below.
Ci manca tantissimo.
ENG: Writing this post is difficult and painful, but I think it's time to do it. The little and sweet Molly, who you have come to know on Facebook and Instagram, died 7 months ago on January 24, 2021.
She had a severe form of otite that quickly worsened. Molly was brave and fought to the last. I and all those who loved her did everything we could to help her and she reciprocated us with all her affection. Despite the care she was slimmed down and could no longer eat and drink, we had postponed her as much as possible but in the end we had to give up and for January 25th we had booked the last visit to the vet.
It was a decision I never wanted to make. Molly hated the vet, was terrified of it and became so aggressive that she had to be sedated to get her out of the courier. Of course, with the few forces she now had she would not have been dangerous but, surely, she would have been terrified. She would probably have died of fear. The idea that she died like this, terrified and far from her home, was unbearable.
I don't know if she understood it, if she wanted to avoid us that suffering or it was just fate, but the night before that last visit of the vet, after holding her in my arms for the last time, Molly died in her small blanket above what was also her bed surrounded by all our affection.
I've been thinking a lot over the last few months about what to do with this Facebook page and Molly's Instagram profile. As long as Molly was there I had handled them by posting photos and content in a joking way as if she were the one doing it. Now she's gone. We miss him very much. To keep her memory stronger I decided to keep Page and Instagram open in her memory and to continue to post photos and content about her, no longer as if she were the one to do it, of course, but as someone who wanted her and will always love her very much.

le robert de poche: édicule n.m. 1. Dépendance d'un édifice religieux. 2. Petite construction édifiée sur la voie publique (kiosque, urinoir ...)
there has got to be something here that i'm missing. is there maybe some definition of "sur la voie publique" that could include, say, the inside of bathrooms, or am i to believe that in france it is usual to encounter urinals on the side of the road en plein air? because i've been to france and i don't remember any roadside urinals, but maybe i just wasn't paying attention.

Hello!!⭐️ If it's not too much trouble, could you please rec some iconic Spurs games for a newbie to watch? Maybe Poch era or whatever comes to your mind first! If your cool Spursy friends want to rec some as well, I'd love that. Thank you💞 have a good week🙏
OMG yes i'd be more than happy to tell you any games my little goldfish brain can remember!!! firs things first though welcome to spurs!!!!!!! also if anyone else thinks of others hopefully they'll add them cause like my memory's awful
I'll go poch era onwards.
iconic but before 16/17 would be the spurs 2 v arsenal 1 game in 2015, the 5-3 against Chelsea at home but also the battle of the bridge 2-2 which everyone should watch just cause it WILL come up when talking about spurs and it's such a perfect encapsulation of Tottenham being Tottenham and also if i ever see mark clattenburg on the street it's over for that prick.
16/17
idk how many upon reflection are super iconic? even if the season as a whole was but i will say any game where we won by a lot of goals is worth watching just because we were so fun to watch at that time and we did it quite a bit. our home game against Chelsea was the dele show and it was soooooooo good idk how well it holds up on rewatch but like that was the Moment
17/18
again i think there's a couple where we won by a shit ton of goals esp at the end of the season so i'd give them a watch if you have time. we were actually so good in the ucl this season we were so unlucky against juve but i'd deffo recommend the dortmund games and THE real Madrid game at home like lives were changed, history was written, depression cured. the 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool which of course i missed but harry kane sent lovren to the retirement and oh my god i think we also had THE 2-2 game against liverpool this season too which is iconic if not because we were good then just because of the beef that it created. wouldn't watch the whole game but the 2-0 win against united where eriksen scored the opener in 11 seconds. THE WIN AT STAMFORD BRIDGE LITERALLY ICONIC oh my god i have been chasing the high of that game every single day of my life since it happened. the 5-4 against Leicester isn't iconic iconic but it lives in my head rent free for being the most chaotic thing I've ever seen as the scoreline suggests. wait okay like this will not be iconic to you but the 6-1 against rochdale (which was during our Embarrassing era of constantly needing replays) where kwp got his goal in the snow? top of the charts in my household!!!
actually this season had so many good games damn maybe we need to talk about this season more too
18/19
the whole ucl campaign literally the definition of iconic i want to run back into her arms all the time even if the wheels were falling off this club already you could forget it when you were knocking city out of the UCL. idk if the group games are as good now cause we know we got to the final but at the time that shit was literally do or die like we could have gone out on my birthday it was awful. but idk i always like to watch the highlights on youtube from the first group game to the ajax game just for the whole experience again. but obvs the first leg against dortmund, second leg against city, second leg against ajax are some of the most iconic games in spurs history
us beating united 3-0 at old trafford was a good game and "moura is practically like a new signing" was a fun 5 minutes until moura logged into twitter. us beating chelsea at home always good and great and amazing. dele, kane and son scoring we literally used to be such a Club. us knocking arsenal out of the carabao was very funny and iconic of us but i also might just be remembering danny's interview afterwards where he humbled them
19/20
i think our win against city was the only iconic thing we had that whole season. there was iconic in other ways (like losing to colchester) but i would only wish my worst enemy to watch that.
20/21
again iconic games but mostly in a bad way like us v everton in the fa cup. we did smash united 1-6 at old trafford though which was very iconic and cool of us
idk if you need any games after this so i wont cause this is already pretty long but i hope there's at least one good game in here you enjoy watching

I like Sergio. I've always loved watching him play and I was excited when I heard we were gonna sign him. But he has played like 3 matches for us so far. Been missing for 90% of our champions league matches and will likely continue to do so because he's reached a point were he is very injury prone. Sure when he is playing you can see the amazing talent he has and it benefits us greatly but he doesn't play majority of the time and it has reached a point where signing him has done absolutely nothing for this team. Disappointing and disheartening because I really hoped this was going to work but at this point the club should try to come to an argreement with Sergio by the end of this season and find a way to terminate the contract and give either our academy players chance to prove themselves (knowing Poch, not very likely) or sign a young talent during the summer window. Presko needs a backup because he often makes careless mistakes when he knows his spot is secure so signing someone who is a challange and a threat to him will only help improve him. Just my two cents.

I miss Tuchel so fcking much
Y'all notice how I've stopped commenting on matches.... yeah, I'm that depressed about this clown team.
Fuck watching them legit makes me wanna cry. If I could give up years of my life so Poch could get fired I would.
