Monkey Wrench wished to be the "best mechanic of his kind" and got turned into a robotic monkey, as there is no other robotic monkey who's a better mechanic than him. This implies that there is a REGULAR monkey somewhere who--
I’m so obsessed with the idea of Avatar Mako (not because I hate women, stfu Korra is still kicking ass, but just water-bending style in this AU) because the idea of an orphaned kid living on the streets, working with gangs, and fighting in underground bending rings while trying to raise his younger brother, not giving a shit about who the Avatar is or where they are, being the Avatar without knowing is so good.
Maybe his parents knew because when he was a kid, they did some little rituals or something to see if he was an earth or fire bender or if he even was one at all. But they never told him (or anyone else) because they were going to wait until he was sixteen, like traditional. So, they just went with fire-bending because of his appearance and because fire is probably more dangerous untrained, and more likely to be done on accident. (I choose to believe fire sneezing is a very real risk)
Alright so it's almost 3am and I finished watching Mothra (1961) and I really enjoyed it!!
Maybe it's because I like watching old movies and seeing how certain things were made (or because I like moths lol) but I seriously really found it enjoyable.
Id really love to find a behind the scenes look of the production (if it exists). I liked seeing the miniatures (is that the right word for it?) and small cars being used in scenes with Mothra and large shots. Really fascinating tbh.
This shot is one of my favorite ^^
The details and the way you can see just how big Mothra is even as a newly hatched larvae compared to the islanders. I just love looking at this pic because there's just so much details!!.
Speaking lf Mothra,
Behold the lady herself. She's gorgeous and fluffy and absolutely huge compared to her surroundings. I love her colors and how fluffy she looks.
I'm pretty sure she's a puppet and I wonder what the concept arts looked like (if there is any, im curious). I also love how they made her wings so smooth while flying.
Also liked how her cocoon kinda looked like a peanut but that's probably just tired me finding it funny kek
Anyway I should probably go to sleep because I'm probably not making any sense lol.
Anyway, really liked this movie and I recommend it if you wanna see a pretty giant moth^^
Your spidersona is my favorite, we would be best friends and talk about spiders all day. I never wanted to make one myself before, but man I gotta now so that they can both hang out 🥺🕷️💕
Hi! I noticed that your works feel very thought through and you mentioned couple of times when you researched something for a scene or in general for the plot
So I wanted to ask, how much time do you usually spend researching for your fanfiction or your art? Do you rewatch the source material and if yes, how many times?
Oh hey look! Things you sent while shadow banned are beginning to reappear! At least, the date on this says it was sent two months ago, but it wasn't in my inbox when I checked it a few days ago.
As usual, I am wordy, so I'm putting a cut.
To be honest, I've been way better at researching things since starting my ADHD meds. That said, generally if I want to include a detail in my story, but I'm not sure how realistic it is, I'll take a few minutes to google it. The amount of time I spend researching it is directly proportional to how much I think people will actually care. So when I need a culturally appropriate food for the characters to eat I'll google a Colombian cookbook, take the first one that looks reasonable for the circumstances (would they have the means to make it? store it? is this a breakfast, lunch or dinner food?) and slap it on the story. Takes me about fifteen minutes at most and it keeps the characters Colombian, so to speak. On the other hand, I wanted to figure out what labels a queer Colombian in the 1950's might have used for themselves so I spent a couple hours researching the queer history of Colombia (although I didn't find much before the 70's). I return to that subject whenever I feel the knowledge blurring away, because I know there's a chance somebody who is queer and from Colombia might read this stuff, and I want to do right by them. I remember when the movie first came out, the arguments over whether or not it was racist to headcanon the characters as queer, so I want to be very careful not to erase their culture while still being true to what I believe about the characters.
Other than that, I can mostly fall back on life knowledge, I grew up in an agriculture heavy area, I went to a community college and took classes in every random subject that caught my attention (from Human Sexuality, to Shakespeare, to basic architecture), and I've had a wide variety of jobs (from personal trainer to deckhand to gallery attendant) so I just kinda know stuff. I double check if I feel like it, like checking what contraception was available in the 1920's, but for the most part I've spent the last ten years trying to figure out what I'm good at other than writing, and in doing so, just made worldbuilding easier for myself. (I have now given up and I'm going back to school to get the damned artsy degree I should have gone for ten years ago.)
As for watching the source material, I have rewatched the movie specifically for fanfic twice (every other time I've rewatched it has been for funsies or in the spanish dub to practice). So far, when I start a new project, I watch the movie again and focus on whatever character my new project is about. For Love and Fury I focused on Bruno, for Mirabel's Super Secret Adventure I focused on Mirabel (and wrote that whole thingie while I did), I just got an idea for a PepaxFelix AU so I miiiiiiight rewatch again, depending on whether or not I want to commit to another big project.
Anyone else find it funny that after that whole journal scene from s1 ep8 where they read the story of sister Melanie and Ava being amused of the German word "lesbisch" .... they go to Switzerland and Ava learns to speak German?
idk i just think it's a cute parallel, I'm probably reading to much into this
It’s very interesting seeing the contrasts between watching The Monkees as a kid, and watching The Monkees being the age of Mike, Peter, Micky, and Davy in the show.
I’m trying to do a lot of the kinds of things The Monkees are: paying rent, getting money, getting food, and for me, the added struggle of being an autistic person while navigating the crazy social and financial time we’re in.
It’s been a comfort being back into this show, getting to grow with the boys in a different way than I did when I was eight or nine. Seeing them going through similar things as I am gives that sort of little adulthood crutch on top of the kiddiness of it all. They don’t always get what they need to right, but hey, peace not war, and money is the root of all evil, right?
Anyway, all four Monkees are neurodivergent, and I can project myself and all of my struggles onto their little polycule, because I’ve grown up watching 60s television, and nothing and nobody can stop me. I’ll dress like Peter Tork and sing the Gilligan’s Island theme song with Scooby Doo on in the background like I’m eight again, using my childhood and my new self in tandem because isn’t that just how it needs to be sometimes?
The show makes me feel good, like i’m not alone in it all, y know? Like my friends are still there, these four crazy boys i’ve known basically all my life. They’re some of the characters who helped me through all the crazy shit I went through as a kid, who I could escape with in my head into all their little antics and love for the world and each other.
And if we look from the logic of the 1997 reunion special, that show could still be going on somewhere, and I think it’s going on through all of us.
Anyways, that’s all. Just thinking about this a lot recently. I really do love The Monkees.
I just had this random thought about the Black Serpent Knights. They are the royal guards which were also tasked with the protection of the gentry, which wouldn't be far-fetched to think that they are the most important asset in the military of Khaenri'ah, the human faction to be concise. It's the black serpent denomination that makes me wonder: Is there some black serpent that is perhaps revered in Khaenri'ah? There are various serpent gods that we know thus far, two of them that have been introduced in Inazuma / Enkanomiya (Orobashi and Ouroboros) and one that has been introduced in Sumeru (Apep) would Osial and Beisht count too? personally I wouldn't add them here since they're considered sea monsters instead of outright serpents.
But it's Ouroboros that catches my attention the most. A serpent god known as an imaginary serpent and that there were ancient paintings of it depicting it as a scaleless serpent. It makes me wonder if Ouroboros is black and if it's the entity potentially revered in Khaenri'ah in order to pull a fancy title based on a serpent. I don't have much to go on for this other than the fact that it could connect with Dain's constellation (ring snake, also tied to Ouroboros— what's interesting is that from the Norse variant of the same snake, Jörmungandr, Jörmun is the Old Norse form of Irmin).
sasunaru au where sasuke is a dentist and naruto is a client and naruto thinks sasuke is hot so he goes to the dentist very often, but one time, thanks to the anesthesia naruto confesses everything. sasuke thinks he's kind of dumb but he feels bad for him since he's spending tons of money just to go see him, so sasuke asks him if he wants to grab a coffee and naruto very excitedly says yes
