Have you heard about the soulmate phantom touch AU? Its where the soulmates share the sensation of touch in their bodies. I discovered it recently and can't help but laugh when I imagine Levi getting horny and being like "she's going at it again??" 😂
my fanfic author confession is that sometimes I go through the soulmate AU list and imagine different rivetra scenarios 😂
Rating: M
Word Count: 800
Tumblr media
You’d think Levi would be used to it by now. Those little touches, caresses, sometimes hug if it were around dinner time and he was alone in his office. Even before he met Petra, the fact that she existed meant he was never touch starved. After his mother died, when he was on death’s door and crawled into the dark, cold corner with nothing but a threadbare nightgown to keep him warm, the small skirting along his arms and phantom kisses on his forehead kept him warm.
He knew, even back then, that whoever his soulmate was, she was loved.
Not all soulmates were romantic. Platonic wasn’t a strong enough word. Sometimes soulmates existed because the universe knew you needed each other. Pain didn’t exist in this soulmate algorithm, and Levi wished he had something to offer his soulmate in return. When Isabel and Farlan entered his world, he let the handshakes go on longer and the hugs from Isabel linger. He wondered if she could feel the gentle press of their bodies as they made it through their next night while it guided him into slumber.
“Hello, sir. My name is Petra Ral and I’m honored to be selected as a member of your squad.”
People called the soulmate connection a reckoning. Levi scoffed at that; the only reckoning he ever faced was getting the shit beat of him in the streets and seeing his friends murdered before his eyes. He didn’t expect a woman to turn his world upside down, much less someone he assumed he’d never cross paths with within a life that seemed set on killing him. But here it was, fair-skinned, ginger hair, and a smile that he’d be lucky to elicit. Time stopped as her palm pressed into his, their fingers like a fire receiving its first stoke, and all at once, Levi knew.
She felt it too. Though later, when he asked her about it, Petra would say it felt like everything was finally right in her 25 years of existence, and she was glad it was him.
“I knew you were out there. I felt handshakes now and then. But the thing that struck me was how faint the other touches were. It wasn’t until I saw you on the battlefield that I finally understood. You always touch inches from death.”
The first time she caressed his face, feeling the sensation on his cheek and the tingle in his hands, it was too much. As if in a trance, he just let her trace her like a cartographer making a map.
“You’re beautiful, you know,” she murmured, pressing her forehead to his heart, then pressed a palm over her own. “But we don’t have to be anything more than this. I know the position I put you in.”
More than captain and subordinate? Or friends? Levi didn’t know what love was before her. He received glimpses from his mother, but it was feeling more and more distant as time went on. Soulmates were more than arbitrary pairings, he could listen to Petra talk for hours, hold her hand in the cold, and rest his head on her lap for eternity.
When they were together, it was like a weighted comfort, but they never breached that wall of intimacy, treading into romance. If simple touches overwhelmed him, then he knew he would cry the moment they kissed. Petra wasn’t new to this, dabbling with boys when she was younger, a fact Levi remembered as a late teenager. It nearly tripped him the first time he felt it, a late summer afternoon after a theft job. Farlan made fun of him, asking what his soulmate was up to this time, and he guessed by the red look on Levi’s face.
Farlan didn’t have a soulmate. Neither did Isabel. Did the goddesses know they didn’t have a lot of time left? Or did theirs meet the same fate before either of them knew?
It was night, and Levi tapped his foot against the wood of the floor. Petra’s ministrations were growing; sexual touches were never spoken about between the two of them even though they knew it occurred. That was the special thing about soulmates, your secrets were theirs too. But something was different this time, with Petra taking her time, and he swore she was teasing him with how he felt his own need flaming.
But like a whisper, with a nail scratching against his left forearm, the murmurations of his name began to form.
L e v i
She repeated the letters over and over again while the yearning grew in their centers. Faster, firmer, Levi squeezed his eyes shut, thinking of Petra touching him until—
It was gone.
Already chasing her high, releasing her fingers, Levi stood up from his chair as he darted down the hallway, not even bothering to knock as he flung Petra’s door open. Flushed, sweat-slicked, with her mouth gaping open with her hand between her legs, he took her face between his hands. Grinning, Petra closed the gap between them, and Levi could feel the smile between her kiss. Like a thousand explosions, their souls sighed with each nerve igniting and reigniting.
Finally.

Hello everyone! I want to share with you this incredible comment that @artemidisumbra left under my "In Your Eyes" rivetra fanfiction.
The story is set in high school AU and tells the story of transgender male Levi who has a hard time believing that the new popular girl in school crushes on him.
It means SO MUCH when someone outside the trans community shows the support, you can't even imagine.
I was really worried that most people won't want to read it just because he was born without a dick. Every kudos under this fanfic makes my day 🥺
Please take a moment and read it ❤️
_____
I want to break the ice: I love it. Literally. All the elements, the way in which you had described Levi inner emotions, the cruelty but also the love of the environment in which he is placed, his safe-net circle of friend and his lovely motehr (Kuchl is always adorable, but in this one her love and support says A LOT), his courage (because IS COURAGE) of being himself, even if it cost a part of your social life and it gains you a lot of flying s*it.
The fear of accepting that the lovely, sweet, always-smiling, popular, shining readhead girl who is sitted next to you at math class COULD HAVE a crush on you; why fear? Because it will be that could reject you when she discover your "biological secret"; that one that make you ashamed of youself, considering that it's not who you are, it not define you. So you close yourself in a cold, iron shell in the hope that her warming presence will not hits you in any way. There is no opportunity in this world, who rejected him in every possible manner, that he could experiment love, let alone with that beautiful redhead with a normal life and every occasions of being accepted by the society.
But then, he sees an opening.
The part in which Petra is crying by the evil rumors that were spreading aroud her literally stole my heart. The way in which you described the intere scene, with these little gestures of Levi that lits up his cigarette and looks at her; when he squats before her and pats her head to comfort her...because he knows how it feel like; I thought "This will be exactly what Levi would do in that case". And then, these lines:
"I wish I was so tough like you to not get bothered over the rumors."
He looked at her blankly until he understood the meaning of her words. She didn't know. Didn't believe, because he passed as a cis guy so much. A feeling of gender euphoria fell on him but he didn't show it.
"Yeah."
Oh dude. I was breaking in tears: the fact that he feels FINALLY that he can be a man to her eyes. The fact that he is a man, because if she considers him a man is because he IS a man. And he can have a chance with her. This part is very important, as I said to you yesterday: is meaningful; people who are comfortable with their biological sex (like I am) don't always understand the uneasy feeling that feel like in a way and being considered in an other. So what Levi feels is so tender, so powerful, that I said inside me "Go Levi, you can do everything you want!"; and is so important that is Petra who empower him to feel this way. Lovely.
And then, when they kissing right after the "artificial" game-of-bottle kiss, and that is LEVI to ask her a kiss...oh God, I was so happy in that moment that it like I was involved in first person, as I told you. Don't know why, but it means so much to me, seeing their relationship developening, Levi's boosted-confidence because of Petra, Petra admiration and crush on him...argh. Too much to handle ahahahhaha.
The final dialogue, than, is so fitting, so true, so incredible realistic...so tender. Petra is the one, in the canon series, that understand deeply Levi and accepted him as leader, as a man, and as a man to love. Here Petra does the same: she loves him because who he is, deeply and totally. It's beautifully conceived, and very IC, I have to say.
In the end, what I want to say is this: we NEED more fanfiction like this, that express the first point of view of what the society considers "different", but it isn't. Fanfictions that can show us the minority point of view, that exposes the vulnerabily of people who bravely choose to be theirselves. Reading has this powerful weapon: to provoke empathy in others. And I have to say it: is more IC this Levi that a lot of other Levis that I've read. He suffers, he fights his own battle, he doesn't give a fuck (pardon me the French) of others way of thinking and he loves, deeply, purely, freely.
I will die to read an other chapter of this fanfiction, Nate. If you need support, you know I'm here! This concept moved in me so many emotions that I've re-read it another time before writing this comment.
This have my heart. <3

Rivetra fanfic recommendations blitz!
Here are some of my current favourites 💕
Harmony by sleeperswake - Music AU. So wholesome and precious, you'll fall in love with their relationship, trust me! 💖
Heart Like Yours by sleeperswake - Dancer Petra met Levi in Mitras during a posh soirée and proceeded to make babies during the same night (literally). It just got updated today; I cannot wait to read it! 💞
A Rivetra Fic A Day by MissErikaCourt - The Rockstar AU gives me liiiiife! All this series is so worth it, but I have a preference for this trope 🥰 (parts 27, 30, 31)
Home by MissErikaCourt - ⚠️ Heavy themes - please read tags before reading ⚠️ Levi tries to find Petra when he gets wind of her whereabouts. If you're looking for something heart wrenching that's the one for you! 🥺
The wings of twilight by passionesque - War Hammer Petra AU, need I say more? It's sooooo freaking good you guys! I'm so excited to read the next update 😍
And The Blood Kept Running by blueTshirts and thesketchytepe ⚠️ warning! ⚠️ this story isn't only Rivetra and it is a bit more of a side pairing. Plus it is a sequel which could require the reader to read the first installment beforehand. - sequel of an Until Dawn AU 👀
A request by AmoraRisa - AHHH! A favourite for a while now! The last chapter was heartbreaking gosh 😭
Special mention to strictly professional by candycity. There's only one chapter so far, but I'm so interested to see where this one will go! It has a lot of potential. 💫

Hi! I'm a new rm shipper and im also muslim so I found ur blog rlly nice and inviting!! Thank you for just being part of the fandom, and I was just wondering what you thought on Petra Ral? I've been getting a lotta hate from rivetra shippers recently, so I wanted to kinda get an opinion on the character herself...
Hello, sorry for the late response! Oh it's nice to have some muslim friends here😍!
My thoughts on Petra Ral? In the canon part, I'm neutral with her like I don't even care about her existence in the anime/manga😂. In my opinion, her character is not that really important in the manga/anime. She's just a support character.
In the fanfics world, most Rivamika fanfics contains a lot of Petra as a villain hahaha and I DO HATE HER MOST OF THE TIME in fanfics of course. Sometimes, she will be the ex-girlfriend or ex-fiancee or ex-wife of Levi. Sometimes she will be the that one mean girl who wants to snatch the boyfriend away. Sometimes she will be that bratty little sister of Levi (I do read a Spanish Rivamika One-Shot about Petra as Levi's lil sis who falls in love with her own brother and yeah what she did to Mikasa is 'unforgivable').
I love it when Petra becomes the lil sis or the supportive cousin or friend of Levi in the fanfics world. It's more to heartwarming and yeah it's not that cliche. Sometimes she will be the one who support Mikasa with Levi. I do love to read some 'good-minded' Petra rather than that typical evil mistress.
Regarding the rive//tra shippers who attacks you, let them say whatever they wanted to say to you. A gentle reminder, the ship is already *POOF* in the early of the manga, so no need to worry about it. What's important is Rivamika have a lot of quality and *chef kissu* crumbs about them either in the manga, anime, merchandises and such.
Let them say what they want to say because you and you're the only one who can see what's unique and special about Rivamika, not them. If the shippers attacked you, you don't have to attack them back like what they did to you. Honestly and have to admit that I do love to shit on haters that really annoyed me and to those haters that attacked my rivamika friends. However, somehow it's a waste of energy and time to fight with those nuts.
I do realize now that we, rivamika shippers, could break the cycle of negativity and insult from the anti-rivamika/some people who hates you by ignoring them, learn to be positive and empower yourself! Don't let them lower your guard down as a rivamika shipper and also a human. Focus on your own rather than focusing on what people think of you and your opinions on liking something. Just mind your business and concentrate yourself with some good people.
There's a good quote that I read somewhere in Twitter ; "Stop wasting time"
Stop wasting time to change the hater's mind. Stop arguing with those who tried to tear you down and deceive you.
In summary, I don't really mind with Petra Ral in canon but the fanon one is sometimes kinda "overreacting" and I don't really like her when she's the evil mistress. Kinda cliche and predictable....Actually I don't want Levi to have any girl other than Mikasa lolol. I like Petra in fanon when she's become the supportive person in the fic. Also, there's no need to worry with the rive//tra because you, as a rivamika shipper, should be proud enough that Rivamika is the only ship that has wah more potential and there's alot more crumbs and chemistry between them ;)

hi! read your last ask and you said that you took up creative writing classes so you might have a wider knowledge about this but i was wondering when u mentioned different writing styles (like minimalistic, hightened imagery, linear vilennete and all of that) could you maybe explain the difference and what they really mean and maybe examples in our own levihan nation and writers? this might be asking for too much but i was pretty lost and i'd like to know more about all that. however you are def free to ignore this too!
Did you just ask me to write a comprehensive poetics essay, Anon? (I love writing about writing lmao)
Super long post ahead, and I’ll be citing certain fanfics that I’ve read so far and those that I think somehow exemplifies all the different writing styles I mentioned in the previous post.
First off, the ones I listed beforehand (minimalistic prose, heightened imagery, poetic language, linear narrative, non-linear vignettes) aren’t the only types of writing styles. There are more if you consider the variations of tone (humor/comedy, sentimental, macabre, noir etc), narration/perspective (first person, second person, third person omniscient/limited), and language (dialogue-heavy or action/scene-driven). And the nice thing is that you can actually use of one or two of them in your work---or all of them, if you’re feeling bold.
As Hange always loves to do: “Let’s experiment!”
--------
I’ll start with minimalistic prose. It is what it is: short, clear, and concise. Think less is more. You have an economy with words where you disregard most adverbs and focus more on the context to make way for meaning, thus allowing the readers to create their own interpretations of your writing. I think the method here is to write your intended draft first, and then cut the unnecessary words to flesh out the scene even more.
Notice how @stereobone wrote this paragraph of Black Dog (an Eruri fic):
Isabel's voice wakes him, brother, brother, has him sitting upright in bed and grabbing for the knife under his mattress. He braces himself for the attack before he realizes there isn't one. There is nothing in the darkness but him and his heavy, panicked breathing. Levi's heart feels like it's trying to beat its way out of his chest. He drops the knife on the mattress and shuts his eyes and tries not to think about Farlan's bloody resigned face before he was eaten. He tries not to think about how he left them. How it's his fault.
It’s very simplistic in language; the paragraph lets you focus on Levi’s innermost thoughts while he deals with an external action (ie, having nightmares). The author hasn’t unraveled the rest of the plot yet, but you already know where the tension is coming from.
Next is heightened imagery. If you’re familiar with the different figures of speech (metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, etc), then this is where they all come into play. I think the challenge here is being able to balance it well with the text itself and make sure that the imagery actually clarifies the context of the paragraph instead of convoluting the intended meaning.
Here’s an excerpt from A Dangerous Game by just_quintessentially_me:
Hanji watched Levi, standing there, head bent and bloodied handkerchief pressed against his arm, and was reminded, irrationally, of a night years ago. When her parents had taken her to the circus. [. . . .] Holding her parent’s hands, she’d gaped, head craned back as she watched the spectacle, a cacophonous mixture of sound and color. At the center of it all, she’d spied a boy. Among the twisting colors and tricks, he alone, was still. [. . . .] The boy was high above, balancing on a platform atop a long pole. In front of him, stretched an audaciously thin rope. Below, no net waited to catch him.
[. . . .]
When Levi looked up, his expression was set - like the boy before the tightrope. And she knew, with sinking certainty, he was going to take the step. Into thin air.
Gray eyes met her gaze and held it.
“Yeah. I’ll go.”
At the door, Kenny smiled.
See how the powerful imagery of the boy on the tightrope was able to fuel the tension in that moment among Levi, Hange, and Kenny?
I think poetic language is akin to heightened imagery, except that the former is more focused on the actual language. It’s very lyrical, wherein you can actually hear the lulling song of the sentences in a rhythm. One of my favorite works that does this is Deep sea baby by @smallblip. Here she makes use of various setting and scenery to create this entire atmosphere of Levi and Hange’s relationship:
Hanji knows whatever life they've led, this is her favourite.
The one in which her and Levi see the sea for the first time together.
The one in which she’s the Commander, and him, her Captain. And between them, a river of words left unsaid threatening to break the banks.
One day they must cross the ocean, but today they visit the shores again, without the kids this time. And Levi learns why when he watches her peel at her clothes. Her harness comes off first, then her blouse, then everything else, like a little dance for an audience of one. Levi tries not to stare, but he’s already seen her by candlelight in the dead of the night. And yet she never fails to take his breath away.
She makes her way to where the white foams dredge the past up the shores of the present.
"Come on Levi! The water is warm!" she says, and he hears it like a call to come home- where the heavens collide with the sea.
He takes off his clothes and folds them in a neat pile beside Hanji's mess. He swims out to join her.
It’s hauntingly poetic, the way the author is able to connect the metaphor in “a river of words” to the actual body of water right in front of Levi and Hange. Good poetic language is able to tighten up the texts together while keeping the sentence structure flowing with apt figures of speech.
When it comes to narratives, it only comes down to linear or non-linear. See how @lostcauses-noregrets does her opening statement in Trains (also an Eruri fic):
Levi hates trains. To be fair, Levi hates all forms of public transport, but he reserves a particular loathing for trains. They’re dirty, noisy, smelly and worse, filled with people. People who, heaven forbid, might attempt to speak to Levi, engage him in conversation. Levi’s worst nightmare is being stuck on a train with some friendly fuck who wants to pass the time making small talk. Admittedly it’s not a problem he has to deal with too often, his general fuck off demeanour deters all but the most aggressively friendly and hopelessly inebriated. But that doesn’t stop Levi from hating trains.
It’s a short fic and it’s very dependent on the linearity of events happening. But with that banger of a first sentence, the beginning already gives you enough of an idea of Levi’s pet peeve in the story, which in this case, is trains.
Here’s another hot and steamy fic called keep him waiting by keobuns that shows a linear narrative:
He’s sitting with them in the back of the lab, nursing a cup of tea — it’s still pretty full, and even cold now, for he was far too distracted listening to Hanji talk to properly drink — when he sees it. Hanji’s too preoccupied with overexplaining the same Titan experiment they’ve gone over a hundred times to notice his stare. They just continue on and on and on, gesturing with their hands, pointing with their fingers, flexing their wrists…
Ah. Levi has to bring his teacup to his lips to hide the way his lips tremble. Hanji has incredibly nice hands.
The entire story just revolves around Levi simping for Hange’s hands and how it all goes down from there. But you as a reader are kept wanting more with every paragraph and every sentence that the author constructs (and trust me, it’s not just the sexual tension between Levi and Hange that keeps us going).
Now, as much as I love the straightforwardness of linear prose, non-linear writing brings a different round of ideas onto the table. It can create recollections from flashbacks, heighten the perspective or interior turmoil of a character due to trauma or grief, or even just re-invent what-if scenes that the characters have imagined themselves.
Gnossiene by @thatalmondgirl is one of my all-time favorite Rivetra fics. In this excerpt, you will see how she switches between the past and the present, and how it affects Petra’s POV as a conflicted character:
Contrary to popular belief (fuck Auruo) Petra actually didn’t cry easily.
Alright, she could admit that at some times, she was...emotional. It was far from a weakness, but even she could admit that they sometimes got in the way and walled off all rational thought. Anger, frustration, sadness, hell, even happiness. The only one she could easily compartmentalise away was fear, which probably stemmed from her military career. Even so. It was never easy to separate all the others from her actions, think from a clean slate like the Commander could do, like the captain. [. . . ] Petra groaned, splayed out across her bed. She drew her arm across her eyes, willing the tears to go away. She’d already blown through her tissue box.
“Petra, a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.” Mama sat on the end of her bed, with Petra on the floor between her legs. Even though Petra argued firmly that she was old enough to brush her own hair, Mama had insisted. Unfortunately, Petra wasn’t old enough - and probably never would be - to disagree with her mother.
“I know, Mama.” Petra grumbled.
I don’t think you do. Else you wouldn’t be crying, would you?”
[. . . .]
“But a man shouldn’t complete you when you complete yourself. Maybe he’s an extension to your house. So you’ll be sad if the extension is compromised or burns down. But you still have the main house. And if it’s strong, the main house can still be standing even after the worst storm.”
Aside from Mama’s crazy metaphors that sometimes didn’t make sense, her message hit home. Even if it hit home years later.
See how it switched in between the before and after?
An off-shoot of non-linear writing are vignettes (a layering of scenes separated by section breaks) wherein this writing style allows writers to curate scenes in terms of fragments, creating some kind of mosaic for the readers once they finally see the big picture. Nakimochiku’s I’m leaving, are you coming with me? stacks up scenes of interactions between Levi and Hange, enough to depict the kind of relationship that they have as young lovers in a school setting. You can string these fragments together, rearrange them in a different order, but in the end, you will still get the author's clear goal of highlighting how Levi and Hange’s relationship develops over time.
Those are the styles that I mentioned in my previous posts, but as I’ve told you, there’s more to writing than those, so I’ll give a short run-through of other methods in writing.
Whether it’s dialogue-heavy works such as from my window to yours, or action-driven scenes like Carnivores (a Levi x Reader fic by CaptainDegenerate) that propel the story forward, we as readers should be able to follow through the actual storyline that the authors intend to take us.
A third-person limited (we listen to Hange’s thoughts in Clockwork by @tundrainafrica) vis-à-vis an all-knowing/omniscient narration (the moon is dark by @sayonarasanity alternates the perspective of Levi and Hange) should be able to make us understand why the author chose this particular kind of point-of-view in order to tell the story.
And lastly, having a solid and consistent tone throughout the work (the macabre of Even Humanity’s Strongest could make mistakes by Rimeko versus the sweet sentimentality of Flowers for You by @fanmoose12) should be able to set the atmosphere that the authors want us to imbibe as we read through their works.
So there’s your crash course on writing and reading. Enjoy? :)

Rivetra fanfic (divergence au)
Hello guys! I’ve finally finished the first chapter of my first fanfic ever. I must warn you this is just an introduction that sets the premise for what’s coming next, so the pacing will be quite fast in this one. I preferred to do it this way so you won’t have to wait too long for their interactions to happen. I also apologize in advance for any grammar mistakes since English isn’t my first language. This was quite hard to do! I changed some details of the list I posted a couple days ago because I felt it would work better this way.
This story will rely a lot on the blanks left by Isayama when dealing with Petra and Levi’s relationship, giving these characters a chance to reflect about the nature of their connection, responsability, and the pain of those things which just cannot be (the drama will be served lol). I will also be uploading it on AO3 later on.
Warnings: depictions of violence, angst, sadness or anguish.
All the characters belong to Hajime Isayama.
Tagging: @mikamoony thanks for the support!
Digging up a grave (Chapter 1)
Tumblr media
After the resounding failure of the 57th expedition, the troops of the survey corps retreat hastily towards the shelter of the walls. Humanity has only recently learned about the existence of intelligent titans, of unexpected human nature, although even more surprises remain hidden on the abandoned battlefield... ( 2617 words)
She never reached:
After so many years fighting, he had grown used to the feeling of having every part of his body active, the tingling blood through his limbs and the acceleration of his perception. In such a tense moment, the sound of the chariot wheels became unconsciously annoying, increasing his anxiety. It was a monotonous and stable noise, almost as much as the danger to which they were constantly subjected. Unfortunately, however, not frantic enough to keep them away from the rumbling of gigantic footsteps dangerously approaching them. It didn't take much reasoning to figure out that getting rid of their fallen comrades was the most effective way to increase their speed and save themselves. However, it took him a moment to vocalize the decision. There was something about it that felt wrong, as if  he was repeating his mistake by leaving them behind. Somehow, it comforted him to know that with that decision he was valuing their sacrifice, for he couldn't let their deaths lead to more casualties. After exchanging several shouts, the tail boards opened, dropping those bodies whose rescue had already posed a considerable risk.
If the sound of the carts already sapped their weary minds, now it was added the dreadful crash of their friends against the ground, some of them to be eaten by the titans, others to be crushed and forgotten in the same place they went to find their freedom but instead found their deaths.
Levi tried uselessly to take his gaze away from that sight, he knew it was his job to supervise his soldiers, but his eyes couldn't help searching for her silhouette in each covered figure. He remembered in detail where he had placed her, how he had tied her shroud and tried to keep her badge for himself... So when her body fell, accidentally revealing flocks of strawberry blonde hair,  he was there this time, looking at her once more. Levi felt his stomach drop as if a ball of air had suddenly fallen from his constipated chest. Soon the chariots were able to increase their speeds, distancing them forever, and leaving him with the certainty that now he’ll never know.
---
Hidden in the forest were some still unknown figures. Among them Zeke, whose power had allowed him to approach the battlefield safely. The traitors of humanity had been undercover in the army for several years, but he still felt the need to test the waters for himself, in order to decide how they were going to carry out their next plan. He knew that Annie was in danger, and that Reiner and Bertolt’s identities were soon to be discovered. To his surprise, he found himself in the ideal situation to test out Marley's new weapon. He had brought the silver box with the hope that something similar would happen, but not so incredibly suitable. According to the army leaders, this new product would be able to resurrect and turn corpses into pure titans. This could be a great advantage, since they would be able to profit their soldiers for a little longer. Besides, Paradis was the right place to carry out the experiment on a larger scale without major expense; they wouldn't need ammunition to kill the transformed nor almost any type of security measure (if carried out by someone like Zeke). He just had to wait for the troops to move away and hopefully find some almost complete remains of Eldian soldiers.
He used the scream of his beast titan to stop the nearest pure ones, this way he made sure no more corpses were being eaten nearby, plus making it safe for him to approach them in his human form.
Soon after, Zeke found himself in the middle of a large clearing in the forest, covered in blood and stained white fabrics, revealing what until not long ago would have been humans, although the passage of the titans had left another impression.
Walking among the horrid sight and by seeing the placement of the bodies, he quickly deduced what could have happened. The titans who until recently feasted were now immobile due to his control. Near one of their huge feet, Zeke finds a body whose bones were totally shattered, especially his back, although it remained in one piece. One bare arm revealed a small, pale-skinned hand with the marks of a bite. He quickly noticed it was a young woman, though his face remained unaffected by the sorrowful sight. After a few moments, he raised his gaze from the ground and continued his way in search of complete victims. The sun began to set as Zeke paced, unaffected by the intimidating presence of the titans, luckily finding six more bodies that could be useful. After having deliberated on the state of all of them, he decided which ones were the most likely to become functional beasts. He placed them at a relative distance from each other, facing down, and opened the cold gray box with four syringes. He prepared them all at once, and took a defeated sigh.
With a relative dose of nervousness, he injected all four bodies as fast as he could, hoping to take the necessary time before they transformed. Unfortunately, when injecting the third body, it hatched immediately, having to flee quickly after only being able to transform three.
In the next few moments he watched as the first titan manifested in a very unstable form. Despite his transformation, he had not managed to regenerate his left arm and one of his legs, which left him lying on the ground. The next one was better, at about 3 or 4 meters high, he could walk despite having slight asymmetries. Finally, the first body injected gave rise to a titan with reddish hair and whose stability was quite doubtful as well. It was clear that her broken back had not managed to regenerate fully, remaining twisted. Despite this, what at one point was Petra Ral herself managed to get up off the ground and move. Seeing such failures Zeke could not help but sigh again, doubting the effectiveness of this discovery.
The experiment had only half worked. It wasn’t really useful to create a functional army, although it could restore the life of some would-be titan shifter. In any case, these creatures, whose peace had just been disrupted, were now  problem of the survey corps, or at least that’s what he thought…
---
It would be difficult to say if any aspect of her consciousness ever awakened. Her skin burned, and even though her eyes were open her mind remained black. The creature struggled toward the forest, occasionally stumbling through the trees, causing it no pain or frustration. Some aspect of her, however, was still present. As when one is about to fall asleep and has the sensation of suddenly plunging, Petra would not stop falling. Perhaps it was a loop of her lasts seconds: the lack of gravity and the air leaving her body.  What happened in a single instant had turned into a thick mass that occupied her mind all the time. She remained in that limbo until a depression in the ground made her fall into a ditch, being covered by some bushes, product of the humidity of the area.
The sunlight barely penetrated the foliage, leaving her misshapen body useless. Surprisingly, something about her state came to affect her ... The coldness of the shadow and the shelter of the earth briefly embraced her as she relived her nightmares.
There she laid, indifferent to the passage of time, until suddenly something appeared before her. Among the undergrowth, the titan saw the figure of a woman dragging a smoking limbless body and gently laying it on the ground, near the ditch's entrance. Unaware of the titan's presence, Pieck tried to catch her breath before rejoining the Marleyan fleet. They had managed to exterminate much of the Eldian army, but Reiner, Zeke and Porco were on the brink of death, and they had lost the colossal titan too. She had spent a long time transformed, and her injuries had also forced her to take a break in her human form. Right now, they were especially vulnerable, and Pieck could only pray that she could regain her strength and transform again. She then took several steps away to see how the regeneration of her other two companions was going, and in a matter of seconds, the previously invisible titan catapulted from her hiding place, devouring Porco completely.
Pieck had not yet regained all of her strength, and she could only stare in horror at the result of her mistake. When the shock left her body, she grabbed her companions by their collars and tried to drag them as far as she could, even though they were twice her size. Luckily for them, the titan's physical problems and her unevenness prevented her from rising. Pieck's observant nature made her immediately aware of it, and she thought that perhaps she could wait there for it to regain its human form to devour the lost titan again. However, there would still be more titans around them, and it was a priority now to protect her remaining friends. Perhaps thanks to the adrenaline of the moment she managed to transform, took her companions between her jaws and escaped from that place. Pieck knew that retreating was the safest option for the moment, and it eased her mind to think that the survey corps weren’t likely to find the titan before them. And if they did, it would fall back into their hands soon enough.
---
She took a sudden gasp that woke her up. Her breathing was uneven, and her senses betrayed her. As the heat of the late afternoon sun touched her smoky skin, Petra had the sensation of having awakened from a long nightmare that she could not quite remember. When she finally half-opened her eyes she felt relieved, but within seconds she fell asleep again. She remained there for hours, torn between lethargy and consciousness. Little by little, the consciousness of "self" returned to her, but she couldn’t help feeling that now there was someone else…
Her dreams sharpened, and the moments of her awakening became clearer. At some point Petra thought that maybe she was resting injured on some makeshift base. The night fell on her and she began to feel the cold on her naked body, making her revisit her dreams once again. The dew of dawn was not long in coming, waking her from her visions. For a moment, in the orange light, she wondered to whom that cup belonged, to whom she was speaking, what was that emotion that felt warm in her chest but cold in her arms...
Suddenly, the hum of metal pulleys brought her back to life.
Flying over the trees there was a small crew of the survey corps, following an 8-meter titan that was coming towards her. In the blink of an eye,  the creature collapsed on the ground without giving Petra time to identify the situation she was in.
The recovery of Maria Wall had resulted in the almost total extinction of the brigade, but such a victory for humanity and the secrets discovered had pushed some members of the military police to join them, making it possible to carry out modest expeditions near the walls, exterminating the titans that didn't get close enough to be eliminated from the other side. Leading this team was commander Hange Zoë, who had taken over after Erwim's death. She along with Levi were in charge of leading a small group made up of some members of the 104th and a few newbies.
Among the survivors of the last battle was Jean Kristein, who was the first to notice her presence. When he saw the young naked woman lying on the ground, he stopped in his tracks, watching her for a few seconds without being able to believe his eyes. He then threw a black flare, which immediately caught the attention of his companions, who came to help him. Unable to hide the stupor in his expression Jean yelled at Hange "Commander, there’s a human lying on the ground with shifter marks!"
Hearing this, Levi who had not yet changed the course of his trajectory made a violent turn fearing the worst. Seconds later the new recruits followed, visibly terrified of the finding, yet ready for battle.
When Hange landed on the tree Jean was anchored, she was completely paralyzed. "This can't be true ..." After a few moments, she quickly threw herself to ground level, while Jean followed her fearing a surprise attack. The reaction continued in a chain after seeing the reckless action of the commander. They were still trying to digest Erwin's death, and Levi was quick to yell Hange to get away from the suspicious figure.
Hange by then was completely bent over Petra's body, "Hey, Petra, is it really you? Can you hear me? What happened?" Jean was slightly further back, a little calmer after deducing that it was an acquaintance, although he didn’t understand how. The way they were arranged covered her up, so when Levi reached the ground he couldn’t see her face at first, but felt slightly disappointed that the legs he saw couldn't be Zeke’s... Hange kept muttering an impossible amount of questions to the woman. Levi proceeded to approach her more calmly after realizing that she couldn’t move.
"Hey Hange, could you tell me what-". He froze in a way he probably never did before.
For a few instances his mind seemed to disassociate from what he was seeing. He recognized her face, but was unable to connect the information that reached him. A horrible sense of relief and guilt engulfed him, leaving him expressionless before Petra's immobile anatomy.
The girl was lying on her side, visibly weakened from having spent God knows how long in the open. Her face looked tired and sad, and her eyes were framed by the marks of her transformation. It was obvious that Petra had been turned into a titan, although this should have happened after her death, something they discovered was possible in that exact moment. Not that Levi wasn't happy to see her, but the guilt of seeing her fall victim to this conflict once again was greater. Her body had been left outside the walls and now she had been forced to return to this hell, through a power that would force her to die once again soon. Once Levi came back to reality, he unbuttoned his cloak and put it over her uncovered torso. Hange had never paid much attention to decorum, much less when something fascinated her, and the other cadets did not dare to approach. Petra’s honey eyes fell on him, and he could feel that it was her, even though she was not quite there ... It was almost impossible to believe that he was seeing her, covered with the cloak that he hadn’t been able to get rid of even after changing their uniforms, decorated with the same wings that he had plucked from her badge that day.
"Petra” He said in disbelief  “Can you hear us? ..."
"Hmn ..." She managed to pronounce.
Hange screamed with excitement once she saw Petra was finally responding. They immediately brought the horses so they could finally return her inside the walls. The sound of her voice had brought Levi back to his senses, who was already taking care of ordering their retreat. Perhaps he could give her father different news from that time… But what would he tell him exactly? He knew perfectly well that his daughter was now in a limbo, carrying a curse.

“Trust”
5707 Words Rivetra Fanfic after many long time ago XD Wattpad link here  Genre : Angst, Blood, Romance, Near death  Pairing : Levi x Petra , Rivetra,
Petra Ral wasn't all perfect, none of the soldiers are. Reality hits harder when they venture outside the walls. Petra remembered her first near death encounter on her first day as a scout already, and somehow it was her best friend that trade her life for her safety instead. Losing her best friend from trainee days on day one left her feeling guilty. Survivor guilt was something a soldier should handle soon or later. None is safe at all outside the wall. Even the titans didn't give her enough time to grief after they digested her one only best friend. She simply froze, almost ready to die. But her day wasn't over yet. A black hair man suddenly came to her rescue, like she had finally found a dripping water out of the dessert. She witnessed the strength of Humanity Strongest right before her eyes. Slicing Titans here and there like it was just another normal day for him.
"Hey new recruit. You Okay..? What is your name ?"
He helped her coming back to her senses again after that horrifying experience. Even learned to forgive herself for the guilt she had. It wasn't instant, took her months. Although the man just simply gave small pep talks to her, she treasured it so much. She learned that he was recently promoted as a captain at that time but he doesn't have a squad yet. He said he wasn't ready yet. But he could use some training to give his subordinate some pep talk. And So she learned that he wasn't that scary as most people think he is.
Petra trained so hard months by months and finally killed her first titan on her 3rd expedition. She never expected anyone to recognize her. She just wanted to honor her late mother who died outside the walls back when she couldn't even walk yet nor remember her own mother's face. But she felt like her mother will always be there protecting her when she is outside the walls. She thought that she was alone in the middle of the forest, but she wasn't. Pair of steel grey eyes surprisingly saw her in distance. And she recognized him.
"Excuse me sir, Why it seems like you monitored me sir ?"
A curious question came out of her mouth so sudden when they entered the gate back from an expedition. Quite bold she must say, but she needs to get it out her mind. She was hoping for a warm answer from him. But he gave her cold shoulder.
"Monitor you? No shit, of course i have to monitor every scout especially young recruit brats like you. By that i mean everyone, you think you're some special huh?"
He glared at her thinking that he might not be on the good mood or it was just the way he talks or he was just stressed out after expedition.
Wasn't sure what to reply, her mouth opened about to say something but she didn't at the end. The ginger hair went silent and continued their ride to the headquarter while looking down. Maybe she just imagined things.
"Congratulation of your first kill. I expect more from you Ral."
His deep voice was loud and clear to her ears that sparks something inside. But the man simply accelerate his horse and left her behind in awe.
She wasn't sure what he meant by that, but she bet that it was just some mandatory things for a captain and the higher ranks to acknowledge every subordinates achievement, it wasn't something personal she thought.
_____________________________________________________________________
And so on, she trained so hard more than ever knowing that she gain more confidence from that first kill. Perhaps she could call herself of a maniac for a woman to train so hard than any other female in the scout. It's not like she didn't make friends, but no one really came close to be her best friend. Not after her late one. That's why she spend most of her free time training. People says that practice makes perfect. It was solidly proven on her next 4th and 5th expedition. Her solo kills increased And it wasn't a fluke or luck. It was all from her sweat and tears.
"Would you.. be.. in my squad?" His voice was low, but still firm to her
The man that happened to saved her from death on day one now asked such a strange question to her. She was sure despite of her achievements, there are far many other soldiers who are better than her. When she asked him for his reasons, he gave a big sigh and close the file on his desk. Which was her progress report
"Never mind.."  he headed to exit his office.
"I-- ! I would do my best sir !"
She didn't realize how loud her voice was that got him startled. Although she didn't face him. She could feel her hearbeat just exploded for few seconds. A sound more like a chuckle from behind was heard.
"..good then.. I expect more from you from now on the squad, Ral"
______________________________________________________________________________
Expectation was something that the survey corps try not the think too far about. Despite all the gains and loses, they will never let that light of home that someday...titans could be eradicated from the wall will happen one day. All scouts doing their best to survive and improve their skills and knowledge about the outside world. Although it was scary, but the outside world give feeling of freedom to those are brave. Petra was one of them. And definitely now she was on Levi's squad. Alongside with the other 3 talented soldier who happened to be like a family to her.. each and every one of them creating a bond that just irreplaceable. Even for Levi, he learned so much as a captain and even as a better person from them.. as for Petra, She almost..just almost never feel that terrified anymore of the outside world because of them.
That's what she expect though..
High expectation leads to a high disappointment isn't?
They were in the middle of a forest, somehow the squad got separated after a fight with a horde of titans that pushed them to spread out to lure it leaving Petra and her captain in god knows where they are with few bunch of Titans ahead of them. Levi refused to left Petra's side. Everyone knows that her safety is their top priority. But she hate how the squad act and think that she was the weakest that always need the captain's protection. And so she wanted to prove something to her captain that she isn't.
"Captain, I understand that you want to protect me by staying by my side, but please don't stop me when it comes to killing these titans ahead."
She took her blade out ready to engaged. Eyes filled with determination at the horde of titans ahead. The raven haired man simply look at her from her side, eyes filled with trust.
"No, I won't stop you.. I trust you..that's why I'm-"
the steel grey eyes met the honey one. He was kind of cut in half sentence since her face was so near.
He never once told her in words that he trusted her. It's not like he wasn't. She knew that her captain is more a man of action, not words. His guidance, his patient, his effort throughout the years for the squad simply because he believe in them, they always knew somehow. She always knew. But for him saying the words directly to her after all the hard work past couple years really something precious to her. How she wished she could just stop the time and hug him saying thank you million times to him without anything to worry ahead. Well..it was just her short imagination that somehow made her face warmer. She turned her gaze again at the titan to distract herself. So did Levi.
"that's why I'm... never mind. Let's butcher these fuckers out" Eyes on the prize again.
"Yes sir"
Both of them did great team work at killing the rest of the titans ahead. Even petra managed to solo killed 3 titans while Levi.. well almost countless. He pretty much swept everything without breaking a sweat.
"Wow.. Captain, give me a break will you.. haha.." Petra tried to catch her breath while they rest on a branch for awhile.
"You go rest awhile here, I'll handle the rest" Already readying himself for another round.
"No.., That's not fair captain..huh" She wiped her sweat eyes still determined.
He really admires her determination
"..if you insist... Be careful alright, don't get too cocky Petra" He said to her with such a smug face and launched himself again to the titans horde.
"hmm.. look who actually gets cocky huh.. " and then she launched herself again.
_______________________________________________________________________________
This time, the titans horde were more challenging. Perhaps because she wasn't on her full stamina anymore. But a special operation squad's soldier like Petra, isn't any ordinary soldier, or so she thought.... 1..2..4.. more titans she killed solo and few of teamwork with Humanity Strongest himself. She felt like she was between heaven and hell that she could fly freely while killing these demons on earth. She didn't expect that she was this strong. Perhaps having her captain nearby really gives some sort of comfort to her even in combat to truely shows her true potential. Perhaps it was what he was about to say back in the tree branches....
While she was thinking of that possibility, She was caught off guard when an abnormal titan suddenly jumps right to her with a wide mouth opened out. Instantly, Levi left everything he was doing and straightly launch himself towards her in pure horror. His heart skipped so many beats that it was not even as fast as what Petra felt at that short time. Before she could even scream, she was pushed to the side by such a huge force that came from Levi who just threw himself at her causing both of them to fall from 10 meter height hard on the ground losing any control and gravity before they rolled so hard on the ground. The impact was so great and Levi made sure to protect Petra's head with his arms.
Everything went black for mere seconds.
The nearby stomping footsteps was the thing that woke her up. She took another seconds to gain her focus again when everything she saw was circulating thanks to the rolling before she felt like puking from dizzyness.
"GAH--!"
A sharp pained voice was the one that actually snapped her back to reality and focus again as she jerked her head and so with her body up. Then she realize where and why she heard that voice...and so he released his arm from her to the side.
She was literally on top of Levi who seemed to be in so much pain that he could only open bits of his eyes, holding himself not to scream in pain.
Why he looked so in pain..? Why.. what happened...? Wait... what..I... Just..What..?"
Just then she realized the reason..
Her Blade on her right hand...
Simply cuts Levi's stomach in diagonal direction to his right chest.
And the cut was deep. Very deep inside.
Huge strikes of tremor hits her hard on her now trembling arms and now her whole body as she slowly release the blade and simply throw it to the side.
"Oh god.....oh GOD...OH GOD CAPTAIN....!! Wha...What I just .. WHAT HAVE I DONE..??!?!?!!"
Panic instantly possessed her and tears began to develop on her eyes as she tried her best to find anything to cover up the wound. She took off her cloak instead and gave some pressure to the wound in fast motion like adrenaline just rushed through her vein not giving Levi any moment to say a word as he was too busy to hold his pain while gritting his teeth. Hands still trembling badly while pressing on his would hoping that there won't be further bleeding. Her cloak quickly turned red already and so with her hand. His blood.
Levi was hissing sharp and short breath that it was so bad that he couldn't even structure a sentence in his head right now. He felt like every blood inside of him just flowing out right through his gut area. Even breathing hurted so much. And so he instantly realized that his ribs are somehow broken too from the impact making him pretty much paralyzed at the moment.
He was getting delirious in such a short time that scared the shit out of Petra so much she started to cry and whined on him that her tears fell down so hard. She could see just how his eyes trying so hard to focus but couldn't, how his mouth opened to say a word he couldn't. All because her stupidity. Her fault.!
As to confirmed her raging heart. A big stomp was heard from beside.
It was the titan that surprised her. An abnormal she didn't expect at all.
She slowly turned her head to the side and met the titan's terrifying smiling gaze.
It was scary as if that 10 meter titan expected her to be off guard before jumping before.
He gulped down her own saliva and holding back her tears again in pure terror. The titan slowly approached them in distance no longer than 10 meter ahead. She turned her gaze to her wounded captain again and then pull his hand to press at his wound that alerted him.
"Ppe..tr..."
He was trying so hard to stay conscious, eyes on her even though her face was all blurry to him. But he need to see her face. He needs to. But damnit why can't he focus?!
"Captain.. please, put pressure on your wound.. I'll..handle..this...one"
She began to rise up trying not to hurt him more and slowly pick up her gears as if not bothered by her now bloody blade that couldn't evaporate.. Like something inside of her just snapped as she came back to her senses but with pure anger.
It took him few seconds to comprehend their situation and most importantly, her intention to kill that last remaining titan by standing still readying herself. No..No... wait...
"PETRA DON'T-!" He shouted at her and it took him all the energy he had left
Petra stopped her action hearing it. But then realize that no one could help them at this situation. Not with that titan so close with them.
"Don't...attack..in rage...- think..through before..and..be..careful....G-ARGH--!"
Her eyes back to his side at his condition again but still standing firmly. Levi clutched his eyes tightly looking so much in pain that she never ever witnessed before. But somehow his words woken her up again.
She thought that he would stop her.
But no,
he trusted her.
He trusted his life to her
He expected her to survive this cruel world
He needs her to survive
Both of them.
And this is just one of reality that hits them anytime soon or later
What to expect...?
She refused to give up, it's not their time yet
Not for Humanity Strongest
Not when she was the cause of all of it..
And so she launched herself and lure the titan out of Levi's position thinking that it would be a wise step to avoid any further casualties.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Despite its not too tall being just a 10 m abnormal titan, this is one of interesting titan that really likes to jump. Not risking to be fooled again by its jumping attempts, Petra made sure to not miss calculate her movement up to her foot works. It was a bit hard with it's agility to aim for the neck, so she cut its both knees first and then the nape. The titan stumbled down downside just perfect for the final cut. Just when she launched herself to make the final cut, the titan suddenly rolled over and opened its mouth like it was ready to greet her inside its mouth.
Thanks to her reflects that she was able to shot one hook to the side and forced her body at such a steep angle to the side back on the tree branches again. While the titan couldn't afford to stand anymore for another minutes, it was now in like sleeping position with its arms trying to reach her up in the branches still maintaining it's stupid smiling face. She waited patiently for the titan to roll over while gaining her strength back again, but 3 minutes already passed. And it won't budge at all. And its legs almost done regenerating. Change of plans then, as much as she could redo everything from start again, she worried about the time she waste for this goddamn freaky titan knowing that her captain is dying and his state would be fatal by any minutes and seconds she wasted here.
And so she decided to cut it limped legs allover again not risking herself to get caught in its arms, so the lower part is all she could do. She thought that it was more than enough to buy her and the captain to escape at least to the higher tree branches.
But wait..Levi would need immediate medical care. And right now, the medic kit was in her horse, She remembered that she didn't leave her horse that far from their initial 'hunting' spot alongside with Levi's horse. She started to whistle for her horse and going to the hopefully right direction to their horses . But damn it wasn't that easy. It's almost like she didn't have any sense of direction anymore when she was inside the dense forest that she didn't know where to or where was she from as panic started to kick in again at the time she just wasted so much on this. She kind of just randomly finding needle in a haystack for god knows how many minutes. But Levi would really need that medical kit if they gonna survive.
Finally after a quite long search, both her horse and Levi's are on sight luckly all steady. Perhaps she was too tired already that her whistle wasn't loud enough. Thank god the medical kit was all there and so she rode her horse at full speed followed by levi's horse back to his location to save some gas left.
But back when she passed the spot where that freaky titan was before, it wasn't there anymore. That single fact just shocked her into many bad scenarios that was playing inside her head right away as she realized the footsteps.. went right through her dear captain direction.
She gripped her horse's reins even harder, playing many 'what if' scenarios inside. God knows how long she left that titan to find her goddamned horse and the fucking medkit, she lost counted. She was too focused at one thing and forgot another. How could she be that stupid. How ?!?!?!
What if that titan already there...? And..
What if that titan...already ate her captain..? In that state of his ...?
God she felt so awfull she just wanted to disappear already.
Dear God Please...!
Just when she was about to lose hope, the sight of the titan finally there, just right above Levi. Its hand was so ready to grab him by and seconds.
"CAPTAINNN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She didn't waste anymore seconds and straightly launched herself cut right to its nape at such a huge burst of gas at one go hoping that she made it on time. This time....finally she could say that she made the cut...But her earlier speed reckless motion made her lost her balance as she fell right hard down to the ground hitting her head on the rocks, she didn't fall at such a height not like before though. But now she did hit her head on the rocks, though it wasn't serious but it made her forehead bleeds somehow. Seriously, the one that should be worried the most was not her, but Levi!
A little wobbly, she ran to his side. Her cloak was entirely red now, there was a little pool of blood underneath his body already. Did the bleeding stop.. or not...? She shove the cloak and checked on the current wound condition. It was such a horrible sight. Even his porcelain skin all now pale all painted in red.The bleeding didn't entirely stop but it was slowing down and it seems starting to dry. But his eyes were closed tight. Skin and lips went way too pale...
"Captain...?.....Captain Levi......?"
her voice was so weak, she whispered his name
She tried to shook his shoulder only to get no response whatsoever.
"This can't be happening right..? After all the things I....we...went through...No..NO !"
She keeps shocking his shoulder in tears that couldn't be stopped anymore. She tried to find any pulse from his wrist and neck, not convinced enough, she listened to his chest that now getting all blooded up.
The heartbeat....it was still there....faintly...
She frantically search for adrenaline shots inside the medkit that hopefully can wake him up. She needs him to wake up. Even for a while. Unable to think any better solution, she injected him with adrenaline dispute of the risks of a heart failure. But then it works.
His body jerked up and felt a rush of blood all over him again, regaining consciousness slowly, he took a while to check their surroundings, a new evaporated titans that fucker responsible for everything they went through today..she even managed to bring their horses back..and then found her eyes again. He really thought he wouldn't see it anymore. She was very ready for another train of tears welding up inside when their eyes met again. But she really suck at not crying. He could feel her tears allover his face. Her whining voice. The voice she made when she tried so hard to breathe between her cries. He saw her.
"My fault.....it was all my fault....I wasn't careful....I was so full of myself.. and it got you............god please no... Captain please no... I'm so sorry ! I'm so sorry !!"
He hadn't speak any words left, She really didn't let him to though, Self blaming wasn't something strange for him. He knew that feeling exactly. He understood her.
He hate seeing her cry like this
Something inside of him just broke
He didn't want her to see him like this..
He needs to be strong, at least for her
As to confirm his strong will, he managed to place his hand onto her cheek slightly wiping her eyes that made her stop crying somehow. Eyes straight to her like he just see through her soul. The silence was deafening. His touch calmed her. And so her hand joined his. It was very hard to breathe from all of this emotion. She was literally scared to death knowing that Her captain almost died there in her arms. But now she stop trembling.
"It's..not your...fault..it's okay..Petra..you did it.." He tried so hard to speak leaving him hitching for another air. But Petra suddenly turned her gaze.
"Hey..look at me...You..saved me..that's all that matters..." He gave her a small grin, his eyes softened.
"No..! You saved me...Sir..I wasn't..careful..I...I...you..." Petra was still in rage, not facing him
God He wanted to just hug her right now and tell her that everything is alright..
But his body betrayed him. A sudden sting of pain jolted his entire body. He made a hissing sound and a slight grunt. This alarmed Petra even more and then she quickly opened the medical kit to find everything that she needs. The cut was deep and she wasn't sure if his internal organ got sliced up too or not. But she needed to act fast.
She pour some disinfectant to his cut which of course caused him to scream in pain. She never seen him like this before. Never so...vulnerable like this.
"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry....Captain please bear with it for awhile....."
She skillfully tended the wound, she even sew some parts of his wound hoping that it would stop the bleeding entirely. None of them speak any words as Levi just trying so hard to stay conscious to make sure that Petra is alright.
She carefully bandaged him, noticing that something bothered him not because the bleeding wound when she tried to roll the bandage underneath him.
"Is your...ribs...broken....sir...?"
He gave her a defeated sigh and gave her a little nod.
"It's just..fractured i think..it's alright..you've done..enough.."
"No it's not..sir.."
And so she began to treat his ribs area and helped him in sitting position to make sure that the bandage securely tighten his bones. They didn't move from the same spot and that cost their pants just soaked in Levi's blood pool from earlier bleeding. Not that they care anymore.
Petra was sitting right in front of him to do one last checking on her work. That's when he realized something wrong on her forehead.
"Petra..your head is..bleeding" His hand was ready to reach her wound but she stopped him mid air
"I know sir..It's not a big deal..I'll treat it myself.." her voice suddenly became colder than ever. Eyes not meeting him at all.
"Petra..." It was more of a plea rather than a call from him.
She stood up suddenly cutting whatever he was trying to say then fired an emergency smoke flare hoping that the other squad member would soon come back. She stood there in front of him back facing him in silence.
"I was so full of myself these years.....and now that....i've learned again...not to..be..." there was a slight anger in her trembling voice
Ah...It reminded him of his old self..
"Petra..treat your wound now and sit here.."
But she didn't listen to him. She did came back to him to grab the medkit box but she walked away to treat her wound. He always knew that Petra could be a little stubborn sometimes but really, he was already far being too patient with her and it began to irritates him.
"Fucking listen to your captain and come here..or I'll fucking walk there-!" before he finished his sentence he grunted in pain clutching his bandaged stomach. This of course alarmed Petra instantly as she ran to check on him again.
Did the bleeding happen again?..or was the sewing opened again..or did she make a mistake earlier...? Her eyes were full of concern and horror while examining his wound. His breath went short again as he could only opened one eye trying hard to focus just on her face.
"Captain...the bleedin-..!"
She was cut in mid sentence when he suddenly hugged her in tight embrace not caring about the pain he felt anymore from this impact that left her eyes wide open.
"I trust you remember...? We'll both survive..I promise.." He whispered to her ears
Those words hit so hard on her. She didn't know that he trusted her so much like this. She did disappoint him but at the same time she..wanted to be given another chance..
He never ever promise anything to anyone, not after Farlan and Isabel. But Petra.. she is.. just someone who is very precious to him. He hadn't got the chance to say it properly to her after all these years together..was it even the right time though..?
God knows when or where they will die right..?
He was about to say the words to her.. but everything just slowing down as he began to lose consciousness. She felt his body grew so heavy suddenly on her that frightened her even more. She realized it right away that Levi fell unconscious.. but still breathing though.. She tightened the hug
"Please hang in there..captain".. Her last tear dropped.
Suddenly, the voice of the horses and footsteps surrounded them. They finally came back home.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Petra.. you should rest" Said Eld to her
"No.. I'm fine really.. You can go rest Eld.." She gave him a smile
Knowing that his word won't change her mind even a bit, he slightly nod and left the room. The Infirmary room where she sat the whole day right next to the still unconscious Levi.
The ride back to the wall was intense. Levi was put on the wounded wagon while Petra keep watching on him on her horse. The night when they arrived to the hospital was even worse, He bleeds again and it took the doctors couple of hours to handle the situation again. It wasn't the titan that caused his wound. It was her stupid Blade that stuck inside of him... and cut him deep.. Even re imagined that made her want to puke already.
As she held his hand, she prayed for him to wake up soon.
"Please wake up Captain... I won't repeat...the same mistakes again...I'm so sorry"
Suddenly she felt a slight move from his hand as he began to open his eyes and see her again after some more seconds to really focused..on her. Their eyes met again at last.
All emotion, all the tears once again overflowed her as she involuntary hugged him again in tight embrace, it was definitely hurt his body but he couldn't afford to let her go. Her scent smelled like heaven to him. He embraced this moment so much.
Now he understood why he didn't want to let her go.
His true feelings for her. Why he trust her so much..
He loved her..
Yeah...He loved her..
It was night time already, only one candle illuminates the room with their silhouette. Soon they broke the hug but still 3 inches apart. Petra eyes gazed down. She is so beautiful he thought.
"Captain...why...you trust me so much...?" Her voice was more of a whisper
Why...? He doesn't know himself..
He just did.. or since when...He never really think about it.
He wiped her tears..again with his palm and Petra didn't resist. Just the two of them, embracing the life given to them after all that hell.
His thumb suddenly on her chin tracing her lower lips. His eyes was a bit teary and it was very beautiful. Before Petra processed what just he was about to do, his hand already pulling her close to meet his lips
But she put her hand on his chest while holding her breath and stopping his action right when their lips were only like 1 millimeter away and she backened away instantly. Her heart exploded right at that moment.
Realizing her action, he put his hands away, eyes still not met hers.
Both of them just stayed silent for god knows how long.
"Petra.. I.."
He tried to reason with her but she stood up suddenly and ready to exit the room. But before she closed the door she slightly turned her head.
"Thank you for trusting me captain.. I promise I won't let the same mistakes again..I'll let the nurse know your condition.....good night.."
She gave him one last genuine smile before the door closed. Leaving him on his own thoughts.
_______________________________________________________________________________
She instantly dropped down to the floor holding her knees.
What was that....? Did he just....? No way.....but..?
Questions keeps playing inside her head.
The man she adored so much even before she joined the scout, all the years being on his squad and realized just how much she cared for him. She cared for him deeply..and those admiration turned into....something she was really afraid of...
Soon she realized why she stopped him..yeah.. Reality hits her again so hard this time..
Anyone could die.. She could die anytime... Even He could die too..
She witnessed how vulnerable he was and how there are just too many unpredictable things outside the walls that scared her so much..
Love was something that they shouldn't have in this world
It would just bring pain knowing that either one of them will die sooner
How could she even do that to him
She wasn't brave enough...
But God...she loved him too..
He saw her training everyday from his little room still in recovery. They never really spoke again after that night. Sometimes she just brought him tea as if nothing ever happened.
He understood right away at what she meant by her action that night.
And so on he keeps on being the captain she knew.
But..He never really knows how she truly feels..
Not that he told her either..
Let just leave it this way..
And so he thought. Everything went back to normal again when he was fully healed. Although it hard at first for them to interact. But as time goes by..They both learned to accept what it is and moved on.
"Petra.." He called her one day when they were on the tree branch while taking a break in the middle of an expedition
"Yes sir..?" Her voice grew cautious
"You ever asked me why I trusted you right..?" His eyes focused on the bright sky above the tree canopy above them. She waited for his answer quietly.
"Because you are strong, kind, and independent woman.. and I always adore you for that, you should be proud of yourself and I believe that you would survive till the day we eradicate the titans"
Their eyes met again. Hers were sparkling in joy hearing those words from him. Took her 5 years to hear those words from him. It was enough... really... it was...at least for her
Please survive...
Please survive......
Please...................
Those sentence keeps playing in his head like a prayer..
He trusted her so much......
But who can he blame...The world...?
No, It wasn't enough for him..
He wanted to convey his true feelings after all of this hell.....
Please survive.....
Don't leave like this...
No.....no.......no way............
I trusted you Petra.... I trust you....
His world crumbled instantly the moment he saw her body...
Her usual warm honey colored eyes now looks dead gazing up the sky like she was gazing at him.
He didn't know who to trust anymore. He never tried to.
He trusted Erwin though. But it's...different...than Petra...
If Erwin someday dies too...
Who would he trust anymore....?

Goth victorian AU
i have one in the works for rivetra that’s inspired by what little i know about jane eyre (as it turns out, the bronte sisters aren’t rly my favorite?) i rly adore the gothic victorian aesthetic - i’m talking prose, weird storylines, character archtypes, etc. - and would love to visit a lot of different other gothic victorian fiction stories and twist them into fanfic aus for different pairings. i feel like i would need to read a lot more of them tho just to get a better feel for them. but like super passionate, dramatic loves? possible ghosts? long gowns and dark lace veils? that’s an aesthetic i wanna work w/
send me “AU”!

There's a fanfic that I've been searching for that I just cannot find. It's a rivetra multi chapter WIP (or at least it was when I read it), pretty long. I think the first chapter is Levi and Erwin discussing why Levi needs to form a squad, and the second chapter is Squad Levi being put together and tested to see if they'll do? I know this is vague, but what I remember most about it is that Levi had a distinct voice and characterization that I enjoyed. Can anyone help me find this fic?
I wish I had more knowledge on Rivetra fics so I could help you better!
But I’ll post this, maybe any of my followers are aware of the fic? I did try a quick search on AO3 but can’t find anything that suits the description.

Hi to all fellow Rivetrash! The 3rd and final chapter of my Rivetra Veterinarian AU "A Rare Case" will be delayed for quite a while 😔
Honestly, I haven't been feeling very well for the past week and I've been lacking the motivation needed to continue writing. But don't worry, it doesn't mean I'm discontinuing the story. It's just the story itself kinda has a challenging plot and is very trivial due to it being medical-themed, so thinking about how the story will go is almost equivalent to me actually figuring a case out in my real life profession - and it's very mentally taxing. So I'm gonna take a break for a bit.
In the mean time, maybe ya'll can help me give the story some more love and recognition by commenting/reviewing on it in FF.net and AO3. It's been published there for a while now and I'm kinda down that it doesn't get as much love as here in Tumblr. Maybe it'll help me get back the motivation to finish it, or maybe inspire me to write more Rivetra. So please spread the Rivetra love ❤️

I don't know from where to start describing how happy your Rivetra family fanfics make me feel. It's like you turn that OTP (instead of being tragic like in the anime) into something satisfyingly joyful and throw them into a bundle of cheerfulness , and the next part is more amusing when Hanji and the others join in. I hope you'll always be happy like the way you make me feel by your Rivetra family fanfics. God bless you and that writing talent of yours. keep up, great writer :))))
Thank you for your beautiful message! It cheered me up so much since i’m thousands of miles away fro home and missing it so much. Rivetra needs no more tragedy (i will leave it to the pro aka @frenchieleigh) because they deserve happiness and love after all the shit they’ve been through.

Final assignment.
The atmosphere among Shiganshina high school students, showed that there were only three months left before finishing the school year. Everyone seemed to be impatient to start their vacations and, of course, the senior years were eager to graduate. Nevertheless, there were still several weeks of classes, papers and exams left.
7:30 AM, human development was the first class of the day and professor Keith Shadis entered the 3rd year classroom. When the students saw him, everyone sat down, ready to start class.
“Good morning, everyone. Please, pass forward your assignments, and while you’re at it, I’ll explain to you about your final work…” he was about to write something on the board, when the door opened and a short boy with black hair and peeved expression, entered the classroom “Mr. Ackerman… you are late again and this is going directly to your personal file. Next time, you won’t be allowed in the class.”
“I overslept.” He said uninterested. He couldn’t care less about the human development class and as he headed towards his seat, he greeted his friends with his gaze.
“Before I was interrupted, I was telling you about the final work…” a smirk appeared on the teacher’s face “this will be the last assignment for this class,” there were whispers among the students. Not having homework for the next three months could only mean one thing “I want you to graduate, knowing what responsibility really is, and even though I know it could be impossible for some of you,” he glanced at a couple students, among them, the one who was late for class “you need to learn it the hard way, because if you don’t, you will fail this class and you won’t be able to graduate.” There was an uncomfortable silence “this assignment will be special and getting a good grade won’t depend on you alone. It will be a team effort.”
“Can we choose our partners?” Hanji’s voice was Heard from the back part of the classroom.
“No, Miss Zoe, and do not interrupt me,” said the professor with disgust “the project will consist on taking care of a baby…” everyone seemed surprised “luckily for the infants, it won’t be a real bay. We wouldn’t want you to end up in jail for negligence…we’ll give you a doll specially programmed to behave like a baby, which you will have to take care of. The dolls cry and you will have to find out why they’re crying. They could need a diaper change, to eat, some attention or sleep…”
“You gotta be freaking kidding me.”
“Levi Ackerman, one more word, and you will be the only one with extra homework for the next three months…” he glared at the student “you will take care of the doll with another person. Partners will be decided by raffle. And to make things more interesting… this will be a joint project between 4th and 3rd year.” The students made disapproval sounds “yes, you will have to interact with people outside your comfort zone. Remember, this grade is as important to you as it is for them, so take it seriously. I know you’re graduating in three months, but until them, your final grade is up to me. The raffle will be done at the end of the class and you will have to contact your partner. Now, take out your notebook, we are going to start the class.”
The professor began the class and when he was done, he took a bag with many papers inside, each one with a different name and before Levi could take one, the teacher glared at him.
“One moment, Mr. Ackerman… I want to speak with you for a moment. Take one and go back to your seat.”
The boy growled in disapproval as he took the paper and put it inside his pocked, going back to his seat.
“We’ll save you a seat in chemistry class, Levi.” Hanji said in a friendly way and he nodded.
A moment later, the professor sat in his chair, a few meters away from Levi’s seat, looking at him with a serious expression.
“I don’t understand, Levi… you are a brilliant student. You get the highest grades on exams, but your notes are rather mediocre because of your lack of interest. You don’t do your homework, you are always late or you shamelessly skip class, and on top of that, your attitude is terrible…” the student remained silent and the professor sighed with frustration “I understand that you got a scholarship for the state university. But let me tell you something: if I don’t see a positive change in your attitude or some effort, I’ll make sure you fail this class, and will speak with the headmaster, so he’d send a letter to that college, so your scholarship is cancelled. I don’t care how intelligent you are. That will be useless with an attitude as bad as yours. Understood?”
“…Yes, Sir…” he said unwillingly and rolling his eyes.
“See? That kind of attitude could bring you a lot of problems in the future… this assignment is very important. Maybe not for you… to be honest, I don’t even want to imagine what kind of parent you’d be.” He said sarcastically “but is not only your grade we’re talking about. Is also your partner. Tell me, who’s the unfortunate soul?”
The boy took out the paper from his pocket. It was still folded and he didn’t care enough to see whose name was written on it. He wouldn’t know the person, anyways. He opened it slowly and read the name.
“Petra Ral.”
“Well, it seems like is your lucky day, Mr. Ackerman. You may leave now.”
And so, the boy stood up and headed towards the chemistry lab; his next class.
The rest of the morning was quiet. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, and after the bell rang, Levi, Hanji and another boy were talking outside the building, before heading home.
“By the way, what did professor Shadis wanted, Levi?” Hanji asked.
“To threaten me, like always. He said that, if I don’t change my attitude, he’ll make sure that I fail his class and will take my scholarship away. That damn shithead…”
“Are you serious? He can’t do that!” the other boy said.
“I’m afraid he can, Erwin.” Commented Hanji “But… perhaps, if you get to class early and… stop swearing every ten seconds…”
“Tsch… I guess so. And to make things worse, there’s this stupid doll homework.”
“Right… My partner is Rico Brzenska, and yours?”  Erwin asked.
“I got Moblit… that guy who plays football. I spoke to him during lunch. I already knew him. So it was easy.” There was a pause “what about you, Levi?”
“Petra Ral. I have no idea who the hell is she.”
“Ral? I know her. At least I’ve heard her name. She’s part of the committee that organizes school events. I’ve never spoken to her, but she seems like a nice girl.”
“No idea…” Said Levi as he checked his cellphone.
“Excuse me, is Levi Ackerman one of you?” suddenly a female voice was heard behind Erwin.
“Speaking of the devil… that’s her… See you tomorrow!” said Hanji and then she took Erwin away, leaving Petra and Levi alone…
 Author’s notes.
Hi everyone! This is the first drabble I write for rivetra week 2017! At first I wanted it to be short but… I ended up writing a longer fanfic, so I will divide it in a couple chapters, so please, look forward to it! I hope you liked it. I had to do a similar assignment back in high school, although we took care of an egg, not a doll, but my niece did have an actual doll that cried and was rather needy, so I took the idea from there. Can anyone relate?
Read you sooon!

I just finished reading that rivetra fanfic that anon request(wrong place, wrong time, right fate).Quick review: I know the story is finished and get a satisfying ending, but I NEED MORE OF THIS AU😤😤😤(more chapter like a filler episode between the story)I WILL NEVER GET OVER WITH THESE CHARACTERS IN THIS AU😥😥.Aside from rivetra, I like petra's friendship with historia, ymir, jean, marco and of course with eren(I need more of petra's bonding with eren). The plot and story feel original with a little bit titan plot, it's like I'm reading a shojo fanfic(because of rivetra moment and that one bad guy who obviusly love petra, what a love triangle😘😏).
Can you or any rivetra writers make a fan scene(like a fanfic in this au)for rivetra if you finish reading this story.?🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏please....I want levi to go easy on petra since in this au, most of the chapter,he literally act cruel/rude/beat her up(I know levi actually act like that in canon, but give a break for our lovely ginger,😥😤 or my heart will ship her with lucifer(spoiler?)

RIVETRA WEEK DAY 1: Royalty
She knew this was bad. She knew that this wasn’t good at all. But her mind told her to. Only a few days ago her father, the king, had made a decision. His daughter was going to marry the prince of another kingdom not too far away. She’d never even met the guy and it was killing her. Of course she didn’t want to marry him. But he was rich. So rich. And the other kingdom was also the strongest one. And if she married him a they would never get attacked by them, and they would protect her kingdom as well. The perfect plan but not for her. After a long time of thinking, struggling with her thoughts, she’d decided to escape to the town outside the castle. It was her only way to freedom. She needed to break free before it was too late.
It was around midnight. Stars were covering the night sky and the town was sleeping. Her bag was already packed with supplies that could become handy and food. She was now ready to leave the castle. She already knew the way she was going to take without getting seen, so it didn’t take her long enough before she was out. She’d never been outside the castles gates before and her heart was beating faster and faster for every step she took. The streets she were walking on was empty, not a single soul were outside. It all was so much different then the caste. It was all… Darker. Colder. Lonelier. Scarier. Now she didn’t feel like this was such a good idea anymore. A bad feeling was now there instead of the exciting, happy one. Was she being watched? The feeling told her that. It was like she could feel the two eyes stare at her in the dark. But… She couldn’t return now. She just had to continue.
Suddenly, before she was able to react , she felt something hit her body and push her to the closest wall there she got pinned. Before she could scream for help a cold hand got pressed over her mouth and two icy eyes stared into her warm amber ones. Petra took deep as she tried to study the human that was pinning her to the wall. It was a male. He had raven hair, with a undercut. His clothes weren’t any expensive one and he looked poor. Very poor. He must be a thief, she thought, and he was going to kill her. She closed her eyes, getting ready to take her one last breath when he spoke. “Look around princess.” His voice was slightly dark, threatening, he sounded really angry. “Do you see what you and your fucking family have created? Take a good fucking look!” She didn’t open her eyes. She was so scared. Her heart felt like it was going to break out of her chest. “Did I fucking stutter? I said open you eyes and take a look at what you’ve created.” Slowly opening one eye she looked around, immediately realizing what he’d meant. The town. It was all poor, dirty and dying. It was depressing. The houses looked like they were going to fall apart any second. There was no flowers, no colors. “You see it?” He asked. “Do you feel like a good person now? When you’re in there in your damn bird cage , living life, eating food, partying. We’re out here, fighting for our survival.” He muttered. She didn’t know what to say. What to think. Her father had kept this a secret from her. But why? Why would he tell her that the kingdom was rich and everyone was happy when this was the truth? Now she understood why the man was angry. Then she could feel his hand move away from her mouth. “Talk.” He ordered. “I-I…” she stuttered. “I had no idea what it was like out here…” she looked back at him and their eyes met again. “I swear. This was all kept a secret from me.” He let out a sigh. “Of course it was.” He muttered before he actually took a step back, letting go of her. “Go back to your castle princess.” He nodded at the palace. “You’re nothing but a target out here.” Was he trying to protect her? She didn’t know, but she couldn’t return now. It was too late for that. One, she won’t be able to get into the castle unseen. Two, if she returned, she would have to get married to a man she doesn’t love. “I can’t.” She said. His eyes widened a bit then narrowed again. “What do you mean with you can’t?” He muttered. “Tch. Is either get back in there or get killed. I bet you can’t survive a single day out here.” “Hm? I guess we just have to wait and see.” She said with a small smirk. He raised a eyebrow at her, then managed to show a small smirk on his stone face. “Fair enough princess. Welcome to the outside world. I guess I’ll be your guide.” “No need to call me princess anymore.” She felt free. More free than ever. “Petra. Call me that.” “Call me Levi then.” He shrugged. “But I guess we have to get you far away from the castle before dawn. They’ll notice that you’re gone by then and start looking for you here. ” “Where do we go? ” She asked and his smirk then returned.
“Hm? Oh. We’re going on a adventure princess.”
|| sorry for this bad fanfic. I literally wrote it today because I’ve been busy and I want to participate in Rivetra Week.||

_______________________________________________________
[Months after petra’s first expedition from “Your Name”]
Winter strenght training is one of a must agenda that every military batch must do. The training corps, military, garrison, even survey corps. It is believed to strenghten soldiers’ physics and mental. Since survey corps won’t be able to go on an expedition outside the walls in the whole winter. So This training is something they do annually.
All survey corps soldier except the higher ups and squad leaders did this training. Including Levi who just been in the corps for 5 years. He hadn’t get any promotion yet into a captain even though his killing number was impressive already since the death of his two dear friend from the underground. With Keith shadis still became the commander, most soldier found it hard to get any promotion under his leadership.
But of course Levi didn’t really care about promotion and such, thinking of having a subordinate under his command sound troublesome already for him. But he knew eventually he would be a captain next year as Erwin said. So he tried his best to enjoy his last months as regular soldier. He refused to join another squad, and just became a back up soldier for any squad that need his assistance.
More importantly, being a regular soldier means that he could still blend with all the rookies , “some friends” and her. Yes, Petra Ral, the new rookie with a small figure and fiery strawberry blonde hair whom he saved on her first expedition. Ever since that day, he couldn’t help himself not to take away his attention to her, whether when they were on the mess hall, the dining, the training ground. Although it had been 3 months since the previous expedition, her first, He still couldn’t find any moment to actually speak to her again.
He learned about her from distant on those 3 months, He knew that she made the best coffee in the corps, Her bright smile and determination on training, And her kindness towards each other. But that was before her first expedition. And now he always sees her sitting alone in the rooftop in the middle of the night crying in silent. Looked gloomy almost everyday. Which was understanable since she was the lone survivor of her squad from their gruesome death. She still recovering. As much as he wanted to help her, he couldn’t.
The winter training week finally came. On the last day, all soldier were asked to hike through the mount in the east of wall of rose. They had 10 hours to succeed this mission that would affect their individual training records score for the next year.
It was aproximately a 8 km walk through dense forests and hill to the mount top. A serious matter for the faint hearted. But the survey corps was known for such a brutal training like this since the beginning and no one would dare to complain. There would be some stations along the way where some commitee and higher ups would regulary check on the soldiers presence.
Hundreds of soldier were devided into groups consist of 20 members, However Levi was in group 15 while Petra was on group 22, the last group. Means that there would be no way for them to meet in the middle of the way.
The first team started at 7am ,He took a glance over her before joining with his group. What a coincidence that Erwin was in charge to monitor his group alongside with the other 5 groups. Levi walked over Erwin.
“Oi Erwin..I mean captain Erwin..” He grunted
“Hmm? What is it Levi..?” The tall blonde man replied
“Can you tell the captain that responsible for the last 5 groups to recheck exactly every soldiers passed the station?”
“Well thats already a must right”
“I mean.. It would be late already when the last group arrive and this is my 5th time winter training so i knew that the captains usually slacking off at the end”
“Ah..I see your point, But why you ask me just now, i mean this year ? Some one special in the last groups ?”
The shorter haired man blushed a bit, which made Erwin chuckled
“...tch..yes, Petra Ral, this year’s rookie. The lone survivor from captain Ian’s squad, I’m just worried about her psycological issues since their death seemed affected her so much..”
“I see...I’ll tell the other squad leader then, your group will leave in a while, do your best on your last year as a regular soldier Levi” Erwin turned his back off
“Tch.. “ He coldly glare at his back and returned to his group.
.
.
The weather in the morning was great, however as the noon came and most of the groups were already on the hills track a snow strom finally fall. Everyone fastened their pace and cover up.
Levi’s group managed to hike down the mount right before the nightfall despite the snow storm, They pushed themself inside the storm and finally reached the finish line. Everyone immidiately given some warm drinks and sit near the fireplaces as they were all freezing from the extreme cold temperature. Some soldiers passed out in the middle of their way with the medics brought them down from the mount to nearby stations. Even lantern and torch couldn’t do much when the sky getting darker, He was glad that his group safely reached the end despite the 2 hours delay. Eyes getting heavy from exhaustion.
.
.
.
Levi didn’t realize that he fell asleep for the next 3 hours infront of the fireplace with blankets covered his body. It was 11pm already and the latest group arrived was group 20. It was already far from the original schedule. Levi stood up and approached the comittee in charged of checking attendance.
“What’s the situation of group 21 and 22 ?” Levi asked demanding
“Well...group 20 arrived 1 hour ago, group 21 should be arrive by now, but the storms keeps getting hard as midnight closing by. But i’m sure they would be in the station 4 or 5 right on the mount hills for temporary rest, and if they don’t come tonight, they probably will stay there until the morning.”
“What if they don’t?” He gave them his cold yet sharp glare
“Oi.. mind your manner to your superior.. I’m sure the squad leaders there would give that direction to the last 2 groups, Look outside, this storm is impossible.”
He looked outside the window. Indeed, the storm was far beyond what he experience on his last track. Hope that what the comittee said was true. Hope that she would be safe.. even with her current psychological state..
.
.
“Group 21 on sight ! Many soldier unconciouss ! Medic !!!”
It was another chaotic moment when another group entered the station with lots of soldier hypervilating from hypothermia with parts of body frozen.
“Wait, you aren’t from the group 21 aren’t you?”
“Yes..I’m from group 22.. there was a snow avalance up above the hill and we were scattered around with group 21. The squad leader from station 4 and 5 are now making sure no one left and searched for the missing person.. some not far behind now...Well I don’t really if there were anyone hitted by the avalance or not..I don’t know again..It was horrible..I ran down as fast as i could...” The young soldier fell to his knees as the medic finally brought him to safety
.
.
It was the worst scenario anyone would ever imagine. Levi patiently wait for the next group to come. His felt sick already from his previous hike and now knowing that the girl he hope would be safe now in danger just made he feel worse. His worry became true, the finaly group finally arrived without the small figure girl he was waiting for..
“How many missing person ?” Erwin asked the squad leaders in charge of the last groups
“5 person.... Mika eldreich , Jan Muller, Christoper kroos, Ian Stubbs, and Petra Ral..”
Levi who listened from distant stood frozen hearing that name mentioned.
“Medics and evacuation team still on the hill to find those missing people ..But since this blizzard is way too hard they are resting on station 4 at the moment.. lets just hope for the best for now...”
“They would be dead if we don’t find the fast..” Levi finally spoke breaking the silence.
“Levi, I understand your concern..” Erwin cut him off
“I’ll fucking help the evacuation team” He quickly put on his coat and prepare his stuffs again
“Hey what are you thinking about !” Another squad leader shouted at him
.
.

Yet soon after that, another soldier joined Levi and started preparing.
“Permission to help sir ! My friend is missing too up there, I need to help him !”
“He is also My friend !”
“She is lonely up there, I’ll go find her !” Another joined
There were almost 10 person who readied themself to help the evacuation team. The squad leaders were shutted and gave up preventing them since Levi was also there.
“Alright...We will send another evacuation team alongside with 10 of you right now.. Be carefull” Erwin finally letting them go.

After a brutal hike to the mountain hill up above with dense forest along the way in the heavy snow, They finally reached the avalance spot where they joined the evacuation team to search around the area. So far they found another 3 but no sight of Petra. Levi was sure that if most of them already look around this area for hours and only found 3 person, that means that Petra and the other one mustn’t be around there at all.
With that assuption, He widened his search area alone while the others around the avalance area. He went further high and deep into the forest trying his best to keep his lantern on and prevent himself falling from the steep track covered in deep snow.
He felt his steps getting heavier as his body getting tired. He almost couldn’t feel his legs anymore from the cold. He hugged himself with his arms for warm him up. He started panting, vision getting blur. But he finally found a figure sitting on the ground near a tree not far from his position. He quickly appraoched the person. Yet it wasn’t her. It was the other missing person, Jan Muller. His teeth chattered violently while hugging his knees.
“Hey..you alright..? What group are you from ..?” Levi kneeled in front of him
“22......ah.....you...are...Levi..right....”
He quickly grab Jan’s shoulder
“22 ? Then..you must know Petra right..where is she ?”
“......actually...I’ve been looking...for her too....Our group was a mess...scattered from the avalance...”
“Wait.. you mean there was another avalance up above...?” He tensed up
“Well yes.. but it wasn’t that big like the avalance down there...But i guess..Petra was there...She was a bit fall behind since the beginning looking all gloomy along the way....so I assume that she must be there... but when i saw the avalance..It was quite deep bellow........So i thought I need to infrom to the group ahead for help... but you know...this storm sucks..” He chuckled.
“Alright listen...The evacuation team is not far bellow from here, you go tell them from there to up there, can you..? Here, take my spare blankets. I don’t have any sound flare with me so please be hurry alright..?” Levi asked him while taking out extra blankets from his bag and helped him to stand up again
“Alright.....” Jan finally started his way down leaving Levi with his final task to search for Petra.
.
.
.
After some minutes of walk higher He finally found the avalance site. Jan was right, it was small in wide yet so deep down there. Even there was no guarantee that Petra was down there. He questioned himself wether to wait for reinforcement or go down there.
“Petraaaa........!!!!!!!! Are you there........???!!!!” He tried to shout first, yet no answer.
Even the snow storm sound defeated his voice easily. Just when he wanted to shout once again, the ground started to shake again, Another instant avalance was right behind him causing him to involuntary fell right down into the avalance.
It was a hard fall, He rolled multiple times along the avalance on a steep angle while hitting some tree branches quite hard leaving a bleeding gash on his forehead. Everything went black for some minutes later.
.
.
.
.
He managed to open his eyes again try to feel his fingers again despite the extreme coldness. Head spinning like mad when he tried to stand on his feet again. He fell on his knees quite much as he failed to regain his balance while holding his bleeding forehead with a cloth.
Soon he saw a boot that for sure wasn’t belong to him that would indicate her presence somehow. He looked around calling her name desperately with his remaining energy left while keep stumbling above the deep snow.
Step by step, He knew she must be there.. he knew...
.
.
He finally saw a mound of snow after some meters walk from his previous position. He dug up that mound and finally found a hand inside. He dug more and more and finally saw the right figure he was looking for lying stoicly there.
Her skin color went very pale, so with her lips. Her eyes were closed, yet he could still feel her faint breath. He quickly shake her off hoping that it would wake her up.
“Petra...wake up...wake up...we don’t have much time....”No response. His body already shivered violently , teeth chattered. He quickly hugged her frail body hoping that it would give her enough warm also to him.
“Petra...you are not dead right now..I know you are not..so please if we want to get out from this fucking strom you need to wake up...” He silently whispered to her. He didn’t have another spare blankets to warm up as he gave Jan one already. So basicly he was pretty much screwed at this state.
.
.
.
Her honey colored eye finally opened even for a bit. And her body instantly responded to the cold with violent shake all over her body. Her un shoed foot already turned into a dark violet color suggesting the extreme cold hit the nerves already. Her mouth slightly open, but she couldn’t say a word. He could only hear her grasp for air.
Knowing her bad situation, He quickly turned himself crouching and pull her body into a piggyback ride position since he was sure that she couldn’t even walk anymore with that foot. She couldn’t protest or anything as he hold her tight make sure she wouldn’t fall on his back.
He could either come back to the falling spot and wait for the reinforcement or keep walking out the forest not far from their current position since he was sure that they were both already down the mountain hill not far from the 5th station. In a storm like that, keep moving is a better option than sitting without any protection from the snow that might cost their life by any times without them realizing when all body frozen. He was glad that he wasn’t too late yet. Now all he need to focus on was to reach the 5th station with Petra’s weight all over his back and his backpack infront with a small lantern hung by the backpack.
They both shaking violently, He couldn’t almost feel his leg and stumble over again and again. Petra cried along the way, but she simply couldn’t say any words nor voice out her cries. A part of her just want him to let her go, yet she couldn’t.
Every step was a torture for him, not to mention the blood that keep dripping from his forehead since his both arm busy supporting Petra’s on his back. Vision getting hazy, the storm didn’t get any better, Everything around was dark.
He stumbled again for the 4th time with Petra’s body above him. He grunted in pain, heavily breathing and tried to stand again yet he couldn’t.
.
.
“Pl..ease...ju..sst...lea..ve......me....”
Her voice finally be heard
“THIS AGAIN ???!!! WHY YOU FUCKING NEVER LISTEN TO ME ??!!!” He shouted to the pile of snow in front of his face. She went silent.
Now he tried to crawl forward with her body above him.
“Why...why would you...go this far......why...” She cried again
“I told you didn’t I..? You owe me your life, and now this thing happens again....tch.. for god sake... wake up, Ral !”
He stumble again with his face now flat on the snow.
“You owe me your life... please...no more things like this again... I know your situation...and I understand....But eventually we all need to move on from those death..... look...I fucking went back to that fucking mount to look for you and this is how you thank me huh ??!!!” He shouted in agony, his blood turned the snow into crimson red.
“Shit...fuck.....” He grunted in pain.
He just realize just how many blood coming out from his forehead as now he felt very dizzy.
“Listen.....Ral...If..we miraculously survived...I won’t let yo-“
Suddenly he passed out, Leaving Petra silent, terrified at their current situation. She couldn’t think straight anymore. Her leg paralyzed and the only person who might save her now lying flat on the ground staticly.
“Help............h...e...lllp...........he.lp.......so.me..body....pl..ease”
She hug his body to warm him up. She was really hopeless at the moment, All she could do was praying someone would hear her weak calls. It was her fault after all.. she caused this.. if only she was more focus..if only she had forgot about their death behind....She felt like a fool.
.
.
She was a fool...yet why....why..he still came after her....
They barely met on that day...
Never talked after that....
Why does he cared so much about her....
.
.
.
“I understand the pain...Believe me I’ve felt worse”
“...i can’t let anyone go through the same path again..”
.
.
When he ever talked to her like that...?
...She didn’t really remember anymore. Everythings getting hazy
.
.
“Oi..is anyone there...?!” A faint voice suddenly be heard from a far .
.
.
The evacuation team from station 5th finally found them both out of energy. Levi injury was treated right away, while Petra was brought to the main station to get further attention regarding her frozen foot. Luckly the doctor said that her foot still could recover. She got herself warm again inside the cabin. Waiting next beside the sleeping man with a bandage on his head to wake up.
.
.
His steel grey eyes finally opened. He slightly grunt at the pounding pain inside his head but stopped when he finally saw her.
“I’m..sorry...again...again..I’m such a fool....” She tried to hold back her tears. He coldly change his gaze from her not replying her apology. He felt mad. Really mad. But part of him also felt relieved that both of them safe. She was safe.
“I told..you.. I understand.. I’ve felt worse” He softly spoke not looking at her
“when..exactly..did you say that...?” She carefully asked..
“..God..really..? The night after your first expedition..”
Her face was still confused. He chuckled a bit.
“you were drunk..crying allover the place wetting my shirt..geezz...i thought you were sober”
She tried to recollect the missing memories but still not convinced.
“I told you, you owe me your life..and if something like that happen again..i swear i would..”
“..would what...?”
He tried to hide his embarasement.
“um..you see...I’ll be promoted as a captain next year...so if something like this happen again.. i swear i would not..let you be on my squad....“
A hint of dissapointment was clearly all over her face.
“Unless if you can prove that you gonna improve next year....Here is the thing...I saw you killed titan once on your first expedition and that’s already impressive.... ..have some confidence...geezz... you wasting your 3 months whining about their death, and get yourself almost killed by coldness..how pathetic. I told you before, life the fullest, that’s how you honour the dead...” He sounded bitter, yet she knew he meant well.
She burst into tears once again. Yet she was smiling while covering her eyes with both of her hands.
“Thankyou......Levi....”
.
Either he felt guilty, or relieved..he wasn’t sure how he felt right now..
.
.
“You’ll never be able to call me like that again next year remember..”
“I know....so before that.. I’ll say your name a lot then.... thankyou Levi...for saving me...”
Their eyes finally met. The reflection from the fireplace was vividly there on her wide eyes.
.
.
“Go get stronger..Petra....”
“..I will......Levi...”
.
.
.
.
Eventually she proved herself worth being on his squad. But it cost her not calling him by his first name anymore. He thought that he was some kind of special to her. But soon after years together he realized that she simply just owe her life to him.
Nothing less.. nothing more
And it sucks..
