the full apple music interview with zane lowe is out! we got snippets of it when love from the other side dropped, but they finally rolled out the full thing. here are some highlights that stood out to me :)
patrick describes pete's lyrics as what gets him out of bed in the morning. if pete doesn't send him lyrics, he doesn't write a song.
andy and pete used to draw fake snake tattoos on each other using magic markers as kids omg?
so evidently patrick was the one who got covid during hella mega tour. and he hated it and he was miserable and that's when he called neal avron about the new record lmao
patrick says that joe was hesitant at first and he was the one who said that for this record he wanted to make something that they could all savor and spend time on and patrick was immediately on board with that
pete says patrick's job is to interpret him because pete calls his mentality a "little bit off" but patrick is capable of understanding him and translating it
patrick describes his and pete's creative relationship as "twin speak." it's not linear and it's like living in his brain a little bit. he calls it the "weirdest thing i've ever seen" when pete can just Tell that some words that patrick adjusted weren't ones he wrote despite not remembering writing them. patrick says he's gotten better at connective tissue and knowing how pete would say things
pete: back in the day patrick was like, "what's the difference between cry and weep i will KILL YOU. THEY'RE THE SAME THING. I'M GONNA KILL YOU RIGHT NOW."
zane says patrick's vocals are next level for this album. pete agrees that he kills it on this album and said he never would've expected that voice coming from him when they first met. zane says patrick could sing a recipe and it would be good. he then passes patrick a recipe and patrick. sings it???
patrick: i'm not gonna belt it. (starts belting) NINE INCH PIE PLATE ROLLING PIN
patrick says that pete doesn't mean to have rhythm to his words but there's a rhythm to them all the same and patrick can find this syncopation in his words and thinks it's amazing
more talking about patrick and pete's Magical Mystical Transcendent Soul Bond. patrick says "if we were one guy, we'd be an INCREDIBLE DUDE"
patrick and pete say that interviews with all four of them are hard because it's chaos and everyone's talking at once but it all makes perfect sense to them and no one else. zane says that sounds like fun flkjdfd [i agree please do this more it's a joy]
pete says joe really stepped up and wrote a lot for this record!
patrick: "joe is kind of a conundrum because he's this really talented...he's a brilliant writer, a brilliant player, but pete and i became the "team" and it wasn't really a plan, but that's just kind of how it happened. [brief tangent about the hiatus] we come back from the thing and joe is this fully-formed writer with a very distinct - he has one of the most distinctive writing voices. when i hear his parts, when i hear his ideas, i could pick them out of a crowd. like i know the way joe writes, and it's VERY joe." part of the process with post-hiatus was integrating him into the writing process more.
discussing the hiatus and fame and pete says his life kind of "blew up" and took it pretty hard. apparently during production for folie paparazzi actually broke down the gate to neal avron's house
patrick goes on a big tangent about how bad things got during the height of pete's fame. "part of my role is to tell his story. i'm a composer. that's what i like to do. i work on movies, i work on shows, and i work on pete. pete has a story that needs music, and if he's removed from himself, if he's not even able to access himself because he's behind all of this stuff, i don't have a story! so not only did i not have my buddy, which was heartbreaking in its own way, but then i also don't have a purpose as an artist."
patrick says that andy is always ready to play but when you get him happy to play, it's another level
"and trohman, there were these moments where he...he got so excited."
patrick describes writing what a time to be alive as wanting to write the saddest, most desperate song you could hear at a wedding. pete bursts into laughter and calls it "so twisted"
talking about other endeavors outside the band - patrick talks about composing and said joe's been super busy with his book and writing for tv and because there are so many deadlines for stuff like that, it's what hammered home to him that fall out boy needs to not be that. "there's something special about this that can't be...this has to be passionate and art."
discussing how scared patrick was of his own voice while the band took off. patrick was really scared of the song saturday at first because there are some really exposed vocal moments. he describes saturday as a song where everyone in the band lets each other go for it.
zane calls fall out boy the "emo blueprint" and says they were unapologetic in being emotional. patrick immediately says, "that was pete. i don't think we could've done that without him." he and joe were basically kids and patrick was too anxious to talk on stage.
zane says, "i remember interviewing you in the early days and i felt like every time i asked you a question i was bullying you." pete IMMEDIATELY loses his shit.
"in another life where i didn't have a pete...cause saturday, i did write most of that by myself...so there's a world where that song exists without the band. there's no world where i sing it in front of people without pete."
pete says every night before they put out a new song he calls patrick up and gets really scared and wants to back out and patrick talks him down every time
they talk about how scary it was when arm's race released and performing it at the amas. patrick starts laughing rly hard as they get into how there were giant crickets on stage and the crowd was just stone-faced and utterly nonresponsive and their stage manager was utterly panicked
towards the end patrick really loosens up and starts swearing more dlkfjdfd

lavender haze - louis partridge x reader
summary- reader being known as a psycho serial dater, like taylor and people asking louis about that but him not caring. the reader is a new charecter in enola holmes 2 and they made their relationship public recently. it's basically all of rep combined with the few lyrics of lavender haze that highlight a few moments that you share privately.
Tumblr media
staring at the ceiling with you oh, you don't ever say too much and you don't really read into my melancholia
the light was blinding as i look a seat with my friends and the cast of one of the most popular movies on netflix... enola holmes 2! i remember being completely shocked when i got the call for my role, how i was so terrified to meet the cast, but now, i found my best friends and my love among them.
after finding out how paranoid i was one afternoon louis just blurted out his feelings for me. i had a hard time believing him but, they were true. his stuttering was the cutest thing ever. "have you seen yourself?!" he said. "they see you on the screen, they see the way you carry yourself, how you can make anyone cry by just acting that way and it only takes you three seconds to get in your role. they love you just like i do! well- i mean, damn that is not how i planned this would go."
I've been under scrutiny (yeah, oh yeah) You handle it beautifully (yeah, oh yeah) All this shit is new to me (yeah, oh yeah)
just his instagram post for my birthday makes my heart flutter every time.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
louispartridge_ happy birthday to the happiest soul in the universe. you make every morning worth waking up to and every day worth living. being with you has been like a roller coaster but one that only goes up and just gets more thrilling as time passes. i hope to wake up next to you every single day of my life and wish to spend every single second of my day with you. i love you so so much and i hope you'll let these wishes come true.
I feel a lavender haze creeping up on me So real, I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say No deal, the 1950s shit they want from me I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
my love language has always been physical touch and even though i've never discussed this... he just seemed to know it. be it three squeezes on my wrist before an interview or resting his hand on my thigh below the dinner table, he always knew. he used to share our playlists that we made for each other to his friends with pride and always got me lavenders after a successful...or stressful shoot because of the first movie we ever watched together... it said that lavender haze is a term for love, and flowers are my favorite things.
All they keep asking me (all they keep asking me) Is if I'm gonna be your bride The only kind of girl they see (the only kind of girl they see) Is a one night or a wife
i was never prepared for all the fans' recognition and they treated me with love for a newbie... they asked polite questions and about my experience. it was going well until a fan asked louis about my...well, past. "as everyone knows, y/n has been acquainted with many men in the past so, how did you as a friend since you guys were friends before you got into a relationship, fall in love with her? was it that this was only for publicity, maybe a one night stand... or is it getting serious, i mean, can we hear wedding bells ringing?"
I find it dizzying (yeah, oh yeah) They're bringing up my history (yeah, oh yeah) But you aren't even listening (yeah, oh yeah)
i can sense his muscles tensing. below the table, he squeezes my hand three times to make sure i don't panic, and with a deep breath and a smile, answers their question. "well first of all, i don't know how how many men a women has dated in the past impacts your feelings towards her. like you said... we were friends first and i always found her attractive but just her little attention to details you say like when she once made a playlist for one of our friends which consisted of a song that reminded him of his mother... on his mother's death anniversary she promptly skipped that song when asked to play the playlist. or how she would give her 100% to everything she does, like once she learnt how to perfectly play a song on the guitar in 32 hours just because it was my dream to form my own band with my friends and sing something for my sisters wedding."
he looks at me for a second and notices tears in my eyes, " she's so caring towards everyone even if they may have hurt her and cannot stand animal cruelty at all. one of my favorite things about her... her sarcasm, of course. it's, as per her, one of her main qualities. she'll make you laugh in any situation and bring your mood up." i squeeze his hand tightly. "she's telling me to shut up now and so i will, it's things like this that made me fall in love with her and not her reputation. even for you, it never should be."
Talk your talk and go viral I just need this love spiral Get it off your chest Get it off my desk (get it off my desk) Talk your talk and go viral I just need this love spiral Get it off your chest Get it off my desk
the next day his beautiful speech was trending all over social media. we went back home from there and had a dinner in our apartment muttering sweet nothings in each other's ears and not caring about what anyone may or may not think about us.
I feel (I feel) a lavender haze creeping up on me So real, I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say No deal (no deal), the 1950s shit they want from me I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
it is reasons like this i am so completely and utterly smitten for this guy. i mean, who wouldn't be?! the lavender haze has taken over my whole body and i cannot wait for a future with him by my side. that's all i need forever and always.

Beth's Diary #1: Before The Storm
Tumblr media
Hello and this is Beth's diary "hashtag one". I'm currently working as a guitar technician in Portland, Oregon. I constantly feel like I'm at the wrong place driving on the wrong lane of my dreams, you see, my whole family is from LA and everybody knows I wanted to become a profissional writer since high-school. I have skills for writting any kinds of stuff. From poetry to song lyrics, from short stories to novels. I even started a project for a Netflix tv-show with the help of a senior/war veteran about his life in the army. It was actually a comedy full of good fortune. I'm excellent on starting new projects but horrible to conclude them. And well, here I am now, brought by destiny, to LA! After a full night of work and partying. It's raining like crazy and I love it. It helps refreshing my memory and mind. It's alot going on concerning my internal battles. I'm near my youngest sister's home and I catch myself in a crossroad: You see, it's been a long time since I've been trying to prove myself and value to my family, the world and I. But when I say family, I only mean my youngest sister. My parents are separated and they're nuts. Dad was an alcoholic and mom is a drug addict. Even though me and Ellie tried SO hard to get a better life, forced into some part-time job becoming a full-time career - so to speak - there are just too many scars of life that holds us down somehow. Ellie might be the youngest, but she still the strongest. Always has the right answers to everything. Perhaps she got the turn around she deserved when she had her 3rd child, Kassie. Oh sweet Kassie, that cute little blondie angel she is. I miss her so much. I like to give her the best influence I can give her. My heart was beating differently to the rythm of the drums, few minutes ago at the live show. My life just took an unexpected turn tonight as I discovered I'm pregnant. This revelation sent me shockwaves to all my senses, including my burning eyes.
I'm completely unsure of how to navigate this chapter of my life and here's a toast to the worst case scenario, coz I'm doing this alone as I don't know exactly who or where the father is.
That's it. I'm gonna need Ellie's help to figure this one out. Again. I'm calling an uber L.A.X. to get there. *Beth leaves the pub and gets in the car while getting all wet by the heavy rain. Beth decides to make a quick stop at a shop to buy Kassie a gift and her father too. For Kassie, a nice bracelet for badass rock chicks only. As for Kassie's father, a toilet shape coffee mug with a saying ''Lazy man's beer mug". She laughed so hard when she spotted that one. Back in the uber driver's car, she can't help but feel a twinge of envy towards Ellie. Watching her youngest sister effortlessly juggle the responsibilities of motherhood while maintaining a stability and a sense of grace left Beth feeling weak and lonely.*
Beth swallowed her pride mixed with crying and sobbing and leaned on her faith of her sister's support. "Thanks for the ride!" I said, before getting off of the car. The heavy rain was the least of my problems at that moment. I didn't feel myself uncomfortable about the thousands of drops of water more than the life growing inside of me by each second that passed. I look up to the sky and I see the building she lives in. So tall and painted in red. Kind of gave me the creeps when coincidentally a thunder struck the sky. "Come on Beth, look alive" - said that to myself as I ring the door bell. I hear she yelling at the kids who were supposed to open the door for her. As she approaches the door, I take a step back. There's Ellie looking to the other corner of the coridoor, confused. I do a sneaky move and go near her while she's on her back to me. She slightly turns: "BOO!"

my eva playlist. some songs are silly some are not but they all make me think about her. tracklist and reasons down there vvv
hi eva fans!! these explanations aren't deep or anything, just little notes... the most vague, redundant notes. notice how they get shorter and shorter because if you listen to the songs and read the lyrics with eva in mind it'll make sense as to why they're on there. the songs aren't in any kind of order btw
I Like 'Em Big and Stupid - Julie Brown
off to a great start. looks like this was the song that made me create an eva playlist. sorry big boss. eva loves when her targets are big n stupid. makes it easy for her
Love and Affection - Joan Armatrading
see they're not all silly!!
"not in love" = spy with no true allegiance. "east or west" omg cold war. eva looking for a genuine connection/something to believe in
She's Always a Woman - Billy Joel
mercurial, manipulative women. "garden of eden"!! bb seeing her as a woman and not as a tool
Hips, Tits, Lips, Power! - Pigface
knows her strengths. using her body to get what she wants. says "china" in it
Evil Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
stealing what she thought was the philosopher's legacy then suffering the consequences. "open road" = motorcycle. can sound like "eva woman" if you make it
On A Mission - Gabriella Cilmi
you go girl 💖 impossible to hear and not think about eva. "foot on gas, key in ignition"
I Know What Boys Like - The Waitresses
eva being a very well trained charm agent
Bad Habit - The Offspring
ROAD RAGE
A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins
seductive sounding song. eva is special to everyone she targets. the "devil/god" bit idk big boss or something
TheWhisperers - The The
eva despondent reflection moment. backstabbing. whispers = rumours to follow/intel
Chinese Spy - The Tremelo Beer Gut
too complex to explain
I Can't Believe You Would Fall for All the Crap in This Song - Sparks
stringing targets along and feeling superior about it
(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin
disillusioned with spy life but then being seen by bb yay. more than a body
Seventeen - Ladytron
disposable. cycling through young charm agents. that likely insidious comment she makes if you interrogate her: "and then... when I was seventeen...!"
Not My Idea - Garbage
controlled, no agency and the despair that comes with it
Bitch - Meredith Brooks
that bitch was wearing perfume. multifaceted, many faces. hard to know after years of suppressing true self. BITCH! BITCH! BITCH ...BITCH!
Big Log - Robert Plant
more emptiness. driving metaphor
She's Not There - The Zombies
lying, causing harm. physically vanishes after snake eater but also "not there" as in empty spy
Femme Fatale - Velvet Underground, Nico
charm agent life 💋
Sexbomb - Tom Jones, Mousse T.
sexy spy song idk. is eva not a sexbomb?
Pet Body - Miya Folick
detachment from body because of her job. violent lines = nature of her work. "I'm just a sack of flesh", "I'm a delicate piece of equipment"
Don't Believe a Word - Thin Lizzy
leading targets on and lying about her feelings
Lorraine - Bad Manners
eva wronging bb/target. spy backstabbing and violence
Spy of Love - INXS
tricks and tracking. eva does all that
Left Outside Alone - Anastacia
idk why this reminds me of eva. distance between her and bb? any religious references in lyrics are always about bb. that's the mgs playlist rule
THE END!! HAPPY LISTENING AND THINKING ABOUT EVA 🎶 🍎

My Favourite “Break Your Heart” Songs
I replied to a post of @jerzwriter ‘s about love songs and admitted that while I know a few, my writing taste leans towards songs about bittersweet or lost love. So I decided to make a list of my favorites. I’m sorry in advance.
1. I Would Have Loved You Anyway by Trisha Yearwood. This has been number one in my writing playlist for almost two decades now much to my husband’s chagrin. I think he could happily never heart it again 😂 but to me there is no better bittersweet song about love gone wrong. “… If I'da known the way that this would end/ If I'da read the last page first/ If I'da had the strength to walk away/ If I'da known how this would hurt/ … I would've loved you anyway”. There is just something so powerful about that. Not every love story lasts forever, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth it.
2. Dynasty by Miia. This song is my unofficial theme song for “Portia: A Roman Tragedy”. The idea of we could have had it all but then we didn’t. “Thought we built a dynasty that heaven couldn't shake/ Thought we built a dynasty like nothing ever made/ Thought we built a dynasty forever couldn't break up”. The first time I heard the song (in a fan video), I went “ohh, that’s the tragedyverse”, it just sums it all up for me.
3. What Might Have Been by Little Texas. I have always been haunted by the possibilities of “what might have been” and this song just sums it up in such a beautiful way. “We could sit and talk about this all night long/ And wonder why we didn't last/ Yes, they might be the best days we will ever know/ But we'll have to leave them in the past./ I try not to think about what might have been/ Cause that was then and we have taken diff'rent roads/ we can't go back again there's no use giving in/ And there's no way to know/ What might have been”. You can’t go back, you can’t ever know what could have been.
4. Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac. Of course this song is on the list. The lyrics, the haunted way she sings, the video of her signing it in 1997. This song is heartbreak perfection. “Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me/ I know I could have loved you/ But you would not let me”.
5. Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift. This is just a beautiful song (and a great video). “Nothing lasts forever/ But this is getting good now/ He's so tall and handsome as hell/ He's so bad, but he does it so well/ And when we've had our very last kiss/ My last request is/ Say you'll remember me/ Standing in a nice dress/ Staring at the sunset, babe/ Red lips and rosy cheeks”.
6. Strawberry Wine by Deana Carter. I have loved this song since I was a teenager (and the “when 30 was old” line hits particularly hard at 40) and as I have grown the song’s impact on me has changed and now I really appreciate the bittersweet look back on first love and how that kind of love only comes along once. “There's nothing time hasn't touched/ Is it really him or the loss of my innocence?/ I've been missing so much”
7. Already Gone by Sleeping At Last (it is a Kelly Clarkson song, but the version I love is a cover). “Started with a perfect kiss/ Then we could feel the poison set in/ Perfect couldn't keep this love alive/ You know that I love you so/ Ilove you enough to let you go” but also “Remember all the things we wanted/ Now all our memories, they're haunted/ We were always meant to say goodbye”. This song just hits so hard and sums up the idea that some things are always meant to end (are you sensing a theme 😂?)
8. Didn’t We Almost Have It All by Whitney Houston. Another one that I have played over and over until my husband never wants to hear it again. “Didn't we almost have it all/ When love was all we had worth giving?/ The ride with you was worth the fall my friend/ Loving you makes life worth living”.
9. Don’t Speak by No Doubt. Another one that goes back to teenage Misha. I think this one got me a few break-ups once upon a time. “Don't speak/ I know what you're thinkin'/ I don't need your reasons/ Don't tell me 'cause it hurts”.
10. Beautifully Unfiniished by Ella Henderson. “But maybe all that we are meant to be/ Is beautifully unfinished/ And I hate you, and I love you/ And I wish you'd go away/ And I hate you, and I love you/ And I wish that you would stay”. I love the pain of this song, the love and the hate, the idea that something is ending when you don’t want it to but you know it has too.
Narrowing it down to 10 was hard and there are lots of other regular songs on my writing playlist, but these are my favorites (although honourable mention to “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam). If you feel like writing some angst, I highly recommend putting on some of these songs. I definitely have a “type” when it comes to my favorite music, there is something about the end of a love story and looking back that really hits hard for me.

waterparks // rock sound awards 2017
(full text under the cut)
Best International Breakthrough WATERPARKS
Who else could be the winners of our Best International Breakthrough category besides Waterparks? Sold out tours, magazine covers, and even a new album on the way… there isn't a hotter new band on the planet. Awsten Knight joins us to look back on a year that completely changed his life, and gave the rock world their next superstars in the process.
PHOTOS: Jawn Rocha
Well there we have it - you're our Best International Breakthrough winners for 2017! We take it you're quite happy about this?
Says Awsten: "[Yells] YES! IT FEELS VERY COOL!"
Haha! It's been a crazy year for Waterparks. When you went into the studio last summer to record [debut album] 'Double Dare', could you have ever fathomed coming this far so quickly?
"I had hopes! The thing is, I listened to those songs before the album came out or anything, and it's hard to picture how they'll be received. If I listen to them and think, 'This is so fucking cool…' I wouldn't make it if I didn't think that they were the shit. They wouldn't come out if I didn't think t they were were awesome songs. Also, you can't count on them being as well received as you think they should be. Plenty of people make stuff they're proud of, put it out, and the public's kind of like…Okay', know what I mean? I never know what the response is going to be - I can't have any expectations."
You guys have always had a very unique sound, and that's very much the case on 'Double Dare'. Were there any nerves in making a record that was so left-field?
"Honestly, it was pretty natural just because there wasn't a whole lot of pressure with it. If you treat all of the songs like, 'No one's going to hear this, it doesn't matter', then you can go in and just do whatever you want, pretend that it's just for you or whatever you want to do. Then when the time comes to comes to actually pick what's going to make the album it's like, 'Oh, okay'. There's not any sure while it's actually happening, whether pressure it's stylistic, in terms of genres or weird lyrical shit—anything goes."
Even before the album you'd made fans of Joel and Benji Madden, Mikey Way played bass on your EP, you got to know Pete Wentz… You got to know all these people that you yourself were fans of. Was that a real giver of confidence, knowing you had these guys' support even before you went in to record an album?
"It's a strange thing, because it's like…before this all happened we were literally outside of all these peoples' shows passing out flyers. We'd be there like, 'Hey, check it out check it out!' Now those people are going, 'Hey everyone, check out this band', endorsing it or whatever. It's the first step of there being pressure behind everything. It's like, 'Oh dang, everybody I love is watching us right now! This is insane!'"
Earlier this year you had your first ever full band magazine cover with us. How huge was that moment for the band?
"Thank you for that! That was tight. That's probably the coolest thing that's happened to us at this point, to be honest with you. The first full band cover, as a collective, I think that's the coolest."
You've been playing some crazy venues across the year as well—you've toured almost everywhere there is to tour. Was that daunting, or was it just a lot of fun?
"The All Time Low UK tour near the start of the year was just a daze, because I was so sick, but it was also very cool. Going to Japan… okay, no beef with the UK or America or whatever, but Japan was the coolest place! Internationally, Japan is my favourite place to go. The food was ridiculous, and the people were so nice. It's weird—everywhere there's a sense of cynicism. Everybody has a cool guy wall, semi built up. But in Japan, everybody is just psyched as fuck on you. This dude ran up to me and was like jumping up and down, hugging me and shit. I was like, 'Holy shit, this guy's psyched!' It made me psyched, and I hugged him too. If everyone was like that I'd be so happy. Sometimes a guy will walk up to me and be like, 'Yo, I didn't want to like your music but it's really cool'. Then he gives me a cool guy handshake and I'm like, 'Thanks, I guess'. Nobody in Japan would ever say that. Like a backhanded compliment."
Your first ever UK headline tour sold out months in advance. Did it feel like that was the moment that the hard work you put in paid off?
"You know, you bust your ass doing something for so long, like… I love going to the UK now, I've figured out the food situation, it's cool. But it still is the most difficult place to tour, for us. If we go really far towards Japan or whatever, we're only three or four hours apart from loved ones in terms of staying on the clock, even though it's a whole day ahead. In the UK or Europe it's eight or nine hours, which makes it a lot harder. But to be able to do some of these tours that have been difficult, being able to come back and sell out our own shows, we felt the pay-off."
On a personal level, you're very much the musical engine of the band, but you're a very prominent frontman and voice for the band as well, especially online. Has that got overwhelming at any point? "When I'm not feeling stressed and can just sit for a second, I'll go [on Twitter] and look at replies and get back to people. If you reply to people they get so psyched, it's really fun. But I think when you're actually being being creative, you're making things that are now… if I'm sitting down to make a song that's not currently on Earth, and I want to make it the best thing it can be, so that when it's publicly thrown down, I want it to be the best thing it can be. I feel like too much input from outside people, it can't help the process. Leading the, I guess 'vision' or whatever of the band, it's not a lot of pressure because it's really just whatever I'm thinking. It's not a super-calculated, 'We're going to do this serious thing, we're going to drop this vague post on this' etc. I literally just go online and the posts are literally just me."
Geoff [Wigington, guitar] and Otto [Wood, drums] have been really embraced by fans as well. Has that been really cool to see?
"Yeah! The thing is, Waterparks is a band. It would feel weird if people were only embracing me, you know? Granted, when I have looked at our mentions and stuff like that, I see a lot more of like, 'Geoff's my favourite!' over the last six months. I'm like, 'Alright, I see you!""
The year isn't even over and you've already announced your second album. Did you feel like you should act on this year's success as fast as you can and make the most of it?
"Doing the album so quickly honestly just came from looking at it and going, 'There's already enough material for another album, so why wait?' I feel like bands take longer than anybody to put out new music. You don't see fucking Drake putting out an out an album, and then two years later going 'Deluxe Edition!' and throwing on two more songs. Like, milking that for another year, that just doesn't happen. I think that if we're able to make new albums quicker than everybody else and put out things quicker than most, why not? We don't require a bunch of time to go and sit with a bunch of writers and producers and be like, 'Alright guys, let's try and make a song today'. They just happen, and they happen quickly and all the time. It's always progressing, too. Stylistically it's got to the next point already, it's moving fast. It's like, 'Okay, the next album's ready, if we're ready to record, we have a month, let's do it!'"
Given rap and hip-hop artists seem to move so quickly these days, do you think it's important for bands to start releasing new music regularly, to keep up with them? "Bands need to catch up! If you're looking at it objectively…I'm not going to say it's harder to make band music than it is a rap song, but it's a hell of a lot more expensive. If you want to get really theoretical you can be a dick about it, but if you're talking about a real studio and d everything, you can technically go make a beat—one that can be in a popular rap song—you can make that on your laptop and then just go and put the vocals on it. Whereas with a band, you need a lot more equipment. You need to record live drums, you need to to record live bass, guitars, keyboards, you need to then do all the programming etc. Then the track gets made, programmed, cut up, fucked with…I'm not discrediting rap, I listen to it all the time, it's one of my favourite genres, but it takes more time, and probably a bigger budget, to make something that has more instruments and more involvement. And plus, for the rapper, he has to work with one schedule. With a band, a lot of bands are like five people. That's five schedules you've got to line up." We've had some brilliant conversations across the year, saying that people want to slap the pop-punk label on you guys and that sort of thing, and that actually in essence you guys aren't pop-punk at all. People build up these weird expectations and impressions of you out of out of nothing. Has that been quite annoying to deal with at times, or is it just something again that you've just taken on as you've gone?
"I used to get more bugged about it and go 'We're not pop-punk, fuck you!' or whatever. And if it comes up, I'll still try to clear it up best I can. But I don't actively try and fight that label anymore. If some dumb idiot wants to be like, 'This is a bad pop-punk album!' then I'll be like, 'You know what, you're a fucking bad person! The end!' I don't lose sleep over being called pop-punk, you know what I mean?"
Going towards 2018, how are you feeling looking forward? And how does it feel looking back on the year you've had?
"It's weird, I have a really tough time stopping and looking back at things, especially while there's still so much work going on. Right now, the last few days have just been stupid busy. We did a full-on photoshoot yesterday, did a bunch of stuff with the new album tracks, got the masters back, made a bunch of edits, made the setlist for the next tour…When you called, I was actually going over some production things. I'd got the songs we'd all written on a journal in front of me in the car, while we were returning some rental equipment, going over what's going to be on the screens during the shows, now I'm about to go back and do more mastering…it's like a whole thing. Once there's not a lot going on and I can just chill, I'll be able to look back more. The next year is going to be tight as fuck, I know that much!"
'Double Dare' is out now via Easy Life / Equal Vision. The band's new album 'Entertainment' is released on January 26.

Glee Musical Retrospective: The Power of Madonna Extras
Well, just like how the episode has an abundance of performances - they managed to stuff Madonna songs everywhere throughout the episode, meaning there's an abundance of extras, too.
Ray of Light
youtube
The first Madonna song we hear in the episode is Ray of Light - and it's as Sue is really embracing the idea of using Madonna as inspiration for everything she does. The song itself is kind of about a spiritual awakening or rebirth, and I can see Sue really latching onto this one as she makes her and her Cheerios over.
It's also rather upbeat and engaging, and with the (insane) choreography going on, it creates quite the spectacle visually. It kind of sets the tone for this new version of Glee where everything is heightened and everything is bigger and brighter.
Burning Up
youtube
So, this was a fun little find. It's a track they never used, sung by Jesse St. James with Vocal Adrenaline. I'm super curious how they would have used this in the episode. It totally screams Jesse seducing Rachel - but with VA there, it makes me wonder what the context would have been.
Interestingly, the song was still used in the episode - only with the Madonna original version. It's playing in the background during Santana and Brittany's talk about younger men - and then when Santana makes a move on Finn.
It makes sense with both Jesse singing it and underscoring it as Santana reveals her motivations. The song is about combining sex and ambition and using sex as a power move. This is exactly what Santana is doing. And while Jesse doesn't sing it in the episode - you can see how it could have underscored the earlier scene with Jesse and Rachel making out in her bedroom.
Sue and Emma
The episode pretty clearly points this out, but I wanted to note that Madonna isn't playing when Emma is around. As Sue states - she finds Emma weak, lacking self confidence, and lacking the same power and ambition that Sue sees herself having. Madonna is the score in Sue's life -- but it's not Emma's. Usually these kind of things are done intentionally but not usually pointed out in universe. This is Glee, however, and they want you to know how they're doing their storytelling.
Frozen
youtube
I could not find a clip for when this is used in the episode -- but it's when Mercedes and Kurt are talking by their lockers -- and Will and Sue come by, and Will insults Sue's hair, causing Kurt and Mercedes to feel something for her.
This is a really subtle, but well done nod to Sue's character. The song is darker and colder and underscores the tension between Sue and Will pretty well. Sue likes to talk a big talk - but as we'll learn, Will still can cut under the facade and get at her -- which Mercedes and Kurt catch onto, and is developed in the next scene when they decide to help her. There's a moment where Sue is seemingly vulnerable, and having this song play underneath just sets the tone speaks to the depth of her character.
You're so consumed with how much you get You waste your time with hate and regret You're broken When your heart's not open
Love is a bird, she needs to fly Let all the hurt inside of you die You're frozen When your heart's not open
The lyrics playing under the scene. Sue is the villain - and as usual, the villain always has some kind of damage to them.
So, yeah, while I do think there's the added bonus of Ryan Murphy wanting to squeeze every famous Madonna song into one episode, they did really well with picking what went there and why.
Justify My Love
youtube
Another clip I couldn't find -- near the end when Sue and Figgins are talking, and Figgins tells Sue she's an original like Madonna, this song underscores the whole conversation. It's a song about wanting validation - and everything Sue's doing in this episode is really just that. And finally -- Figgins gives her what she needs to hear -- that she's one of a kind and just like Madonna. So she doesn't need to try so hard, she can keep on being herself.
Rachel, Finn, and Jesse
There is also a song scoring the Jesse, Rachel, and Finn convo and I believe it's the original version of What It Feels Like for a Girl - but I'm not completely sure? It's just the instrumentals - which is nice, but it makes it hard to figure out - especially when the internet isn't being helpful.
But I think it's a good place to say that -- this episode is just infused with music, to the point that nearly every moment is scored with Madonna -- or the regular scoring of the show. There are a couple of moments where it is completely silent -- as I mentioned with Emma, but also after Like a Virgin. Those silences are really, really heard, too, as it grounds those emotional beats even heavier.
While the show isn't going to completely overboard like it does with this one, music will be more infused going forward. We're going to get more performances -- though, interestingly, they're going to pull back on the number of regular pop songs scoring scenes (probably cheaper?).
But like I said when we started this venture -- this episode really turns the show in a new direction (oof, pun not intended) and the music is just going to be more prominent in the story telling than it had been in the Front 13.

Hello! Just trying out the Redacted Audio Matchup!
What song are you fixated on at the moment? What lyric or verse, and why?
I am currently obsessed with the song Bitterwater by The Oh Hellos, I love folk-rock and songs I feel like would be played in a DND tavern.
"Bury me beneath the tree I climbed when I was a child"
I don't know why I liked this verse but it gave me a message that home is a place where you are the happiest (If that makes sense)
What is your Enneagram type?
I am a type 4 (the individualist) which makes sense kind of
Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why?
I have actually never heard of this channel so I don't have an answer.
Tell me about your childhood imaginary friend.
Their name is Jasmine, they've been my imaginary friend since I was a kid, and they change their look on the regular, they're usually there to comfort me when I'm down and alone.
What is your go-to way to fall asleep?
Usually just put on some asmr video and wait till I fall asleep.
If you had to change your name, what would it be, and why? (In tandem, if you have changed your name, why did you pick that one?)
I keeping my name at the moment, though I have tried to think of a name that suits me, that makes comfortable and confident in it. I don't have a name yet, but I hope to find one in the future
What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?
"Talking Commitment with your Werewolf Boyfriend"
This video just really shows how strong and healthy Milo and Sweetheart's relationship is, that they clarify that they don't feel like they need to get married to be devoted to each other. I love Milo and Sweetheart's relationship, it's full of fluff and understanding for each other.
What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)
Vega, he just doesn't interest me, he seems so bland and just has really nothing really worth for my to hear.
Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.
How to Train Your Dragon (all the movies)
Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend?
I know this kinda seems basic but Huxley, I see him more as a brother/best friend then anything romantic.
Do you have a go-to thing you ramble about when you’re tired, and if so, what is it? (For example, my boyfriend knows I’m ready to sleep when I start talking about space.)
I just start rambling about the most random things, like they aren't even related to what I was saying before, they just start Poppin outta nowhere.
Tell me your go-to gas station and drink combo.
Sausage rolls and Hot Chocolate, it always makes me feel like a child again.
Tell me about your favorite playlist at the moment.
Funny thing...I don't have a playlist, the playlist I think would count would just be The Oh Hellos! Dear Wormwood album. I just love their songs ❤️
What’s your guilty pleasure media, and why?
Tough one but it would have to be reading bl comics and manga.
And whatever else you think tells me about who you are!
I am an artist who is striving to be a character designer one day! I love DND and rpg games, I dance and sing in my room by myself, and I use my imagination more than I think is healthy. I am queer, and I want to make friends, but I tend to be quite odd to talk with, so that is mostly a problem. I very much hate math too and I am not a morning person (very much a night owl)
Tumblr media
Lemme tell you, this one took me on a RIDE- a flimflamming, tossing and turning, back and forth ride with loop de loops. I had to think incredibly hard about this, so it is with hard won assurance when I say you and Ollie must be together.
Being a Type Four, the Individualist, your imaginary friend, and wanting to make friends gives me the image of someone who’s kind of lonely, if I may say so? Ollie wouldn’t let that continue, because he personifies loyal, sweet, simple companionship like no other Redacted boi. Making friends would be so easy and natural with him by your side, integrating your lives together, introducing you to his cat, inviting you to board game nights with his friends. A life with him would be very full.
It would also be so fun! I think another reason y’all would get along so well is that y’all like a lot of the same things! I can just imagine y’all sharing character playlists for your campaigns, exchanging little TTRPG memes, getting little Cattywumpus footsteps all over your character sheets because y’all left them on the coffee table. When you’re not out with your TTRPG friends, you’re having lots of cozy nights in, chilling on the couch, Ollie kissing your cheek as he watches you draw over your shoulder.
Song:
They'll speak of me in whispered tones/ And say my name like it shakes their bones/ 'Cause we'll dance together so close we're sharing breath/ But now I'm leading, doesn't that just scare you to death
Is this a traditionally romantic or cute song? No. Is it hella fantasy, storytelling, narrative vibes? Abso-fucking-lately. It’s giving enemies to lovers with indescribable, undeniable chemistry and tension, and I think you and Ollie would have a blast carpool karaoke-ing it and acting it out.
Runner-Ups:
So here’s where the issue was- Milo and Ollie were fucking duking it out for your hand with Asher just ekeing out behind in third. They’re both sweet and supportive, fun, eager to engage with your interests and hobbies; Milo even has a cat too. Ollie just fucking won because it’s canon he’s a game nerd and I liked an Unempowered boy with you.
note: we should be friends I myself am odd and unusual 💕
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

Finally watched Wish...
And yes, it's bad. So here we go! (pun intended)
-I really don't get all that about wishes being easily crushed. I mean, yeah, it's foreshadowing, but I know a thing or two about wishes that didn't come true (most of us do) and there are different kinds of wishes and most of them aren't crushed in our very eyes (except if you're surrounded by awful people).
-Giving Magnífico that backstory doesn't mean anything in the end. We don't have enough information and he's not even redeemed.
-Search for "Mediterranean islands" in Google. Do they look like that? No? Okay, move on.
Tumblr media
-The abuelo looks way too good for being 100. Search for "100 years people".
-Valentino is not talking yet and I already want him to shut up.
-Sakina doesn't know anything about her daughter's life. Come on, apparently she has a job. Wait, she has a job?
-There's been too much exposition in this few minutes my head hurts. First narration, then talking, now a song... She doesn't even need to be a tour guide... for five people.
-Somebody get this girl some camomile tea.
-Again with that wish stuff. I mean, some wishes you can pursue yourself, others would need a miracle. It makes no sense to wish for your purpose to come true (like Simon, we'll get to that later) when you can just do it! It's like daydreaming for your life to change while you do nothing! Yeah, I'm with Tiana here. You need to work hard to make your wish come true.
-The music sounds Andalusian. But just in this one song. And it doesn't match the background. BTW, I only liked the What I know now, even though it's too long.
-I like Dahlia way more than Asha. She's smart, calm and we know more about her. But still, she doesn't warn her friend with allergies that he can't eat the cookies... or smell them.
-And every apprentice has their wish and their family's wishes granted? Why? Also, what happened to the last one?
-I quite like Bazeema. Grumpy is just realistic. And that Dopey is just Fred from Big Hero 6. And Simon... he's there moping so we feel sad for him, but then he betrays Asha for no reason (yeah, they try to explain but it makes no sense).
-Asha has an actual, modern interview and the Queen herself fetches her because she has nothing else to do (like ruling a kingdom) and there are no servants in this castle.
-Magnífico has his bathroom break just before Asha's interview so he can make a grand... I mean, an entrance.
-Also, everything has been exposition (even that notebook) so far.
Tumblr media
-Sharing your sad backstory so you'll be hired. "Oh, you have a sad backstory too, you're hired!" No, wait, they're singing. Why are they singing?
-Magnífico plays Ariel as Asha is more focused on finding Sabino's wish so she can trick Magnífico into granting it because they're bonding.
-So yeah, Asha looks desperate and Magnífico gets angry and dumps even more exposition over her. But because what he was saying made sense and Asha was looking like she only wanted that job to make her abuelo's wish come true, they made Magnífico angry so he looks like the bad one.
-Magnífico is so thin-skinned he gets angry easily and forgets to keep up appearances.... too soon.
-"Sania". Don't you mean "Sonia"? Oh, yeah, this is not Spain. Also, the person who wants to make the most beautiful dresses has the plainest, greyest clothing ever.
-Asha just tells her abuelo his wish would never be granted. Don't do that! Never do that! Don't break his heart!
-They talk about Magnífico not owning the wishes but... hear me out: the people gave them to him willingly so he can make them come true. And they even forget them! So... they're technically his.
-This Wish is the worst song. The lyrics are bad, the rythm is all over the place and it's too much for just climbing a tree.
-I haven't talked about the animation yet but she looks like plasticine clay. Everything is unfinished and the watercolor effect only pops up from time to time.
-Magnífico thinks a beam of light threatened him. He needs a holiday.
-Everybody is adorkable. The star is also adorkable. It doesn't matter it's creepy, stupid and just stole and destroyed someone's underwear.
-And apparently, it only can make animals (and funghi) talk but it also gives Asha a magic wand. BTW, those mushrooms are creepy (give me the Fantasia ones! (or at least make them look similar)) and I wasn't expecting the squirrel from The Sword in the Stone to talk like that.
Tumblr media
-Valentino has no reason to be able to talk. He's insufferable and even makes the Dreamworks face when saying "his voice is so low" (wink-wink). So is this for kids or not?
-Yeah, it is for kids because they had to make the shape of a star (Star looks like a balloon) and they hammer you with the message that everybody is a star like 30 times. "A really simple answer." You've gone crazy, King Magnífico has gone crazy, we're all mad here!
-Also this is like the lesson that should be learnt at the end. But anyway...
-The King and Queen have no chemistry at all. I don't believe they love each other.
-Magnífico just has a tempting book there. I don't think he has never used it. Why does he even have it? Lock it in the dungeons.
-Why is everybody so thin-skinned? Safi acts as if Asha doesn't care about his most precious feelings. She's talking about chickens! Chickens!
-"I made a wish..." "You wished for a chicken musical?" And yes, this is the scene that made me decide I wasn't going to pay for watching this movie. Thank you, I hate it.
-Magnífico is stupid too. Like everybody knows you shouldn't alarm anyone when you don't even know all about the danger. Yes, he wants to look like a hero, but still... them doubting is on you, bud.
-Dahlia waits until she's called a genius to use long words.
-So everybody starts questioning everything, as you do, and Magnífico decides he'll be a tyrant then. He sings a song about his parents being aliens (I got these genes from outer space), song gets interrupted because we don't deserve a villain song and I keep on thinking how Ludmila's song from Bartok the Magnificent did the same thing but better.
Tumblr media
-"My heart knows this feeling." Who talks like that? Also, is she dying? Why are they leaving? Asha should tell the Queen the King has gone crazy! You're putting everyone in danger! But it doesn't matter, she leaves Sakina and Sabino there so the strongest 100-year-old on Earth can row their way back... 10 minutes later.
-Why does Magnífico need a staff? He's been doing magic just fine.
-"Asha did this!" "Asha who?" Oh, yeah, they are only like 40 people in this kingdom. And none of them are kids or babies. Now.
-Let me get this straight: you have narcolepsy (or are just tired all the time) and you wish to become a knight? Yeah, I'm sure they'd trust you. So he should wish to have more energy and work his way to become a knight. But hey, doesn't matter because even though Simon is depressing and sad, he's attacked by bunnies! And that's funny! We don't care about the saddest character of all!
Tumblr media
-Bazeema has a whole basement for herself because "introverts deserve some space" instead of saying she discovered it because she's an introvert and sometimes needs lonely time. But of course, this is only here so her "friends" can scold her.
-Asha doesn't try to convince anyone else via song because... reasons.
-"It's a lie, lie, lie..." Yeah, we get it.
-Magnífico thinks it's okay to wake up everybody to show them he's angry.
-Giving the clumsiest character the power of magic. Give it to Amaya! She's capable!
-Asha forgets Simon is her friend. Everybody forgets Simon is their friend. Nobody cares about Simon. Cough, cough... Simón.
-"Good evening, Rosas!" "What?" "We can't hear you!"
-Okay, what's Magnífico's plan? Killing them? BTW, he's the most pathetic villain since... nope, he's the most pathetic.
-So first we have a song saying you're a "star", then this. I think this is another tale about female empowerment and how men are bad. Don't believe me? Tell me one male character that shows to be intelligent, caring and that carries the plot. Yeah, Starboy, we needed you.
-Magnífico is hinted to be Queen Grimhilde's mirror when he's stuck in a gem. And he pleads so Amaya would free him when she has no magic... yet. I think.
-Valentino wishes for a mammal utopia when he's been living between humans his whole life and doesn't even have another animal as his friend. BTW, humans are mammals!
-Why do they need a fairy godmother? Why?
-"I know you too well." No, you don't. Asha and Star don't have any relationship. The Star has just been there to be cute and do cute things while Asha was clumsy and did clumsy things.
Overall? Bad. A few interesting things but none of the main characters are likable (Amaya, Dahlia, Bazeema and Simon had some potential), the songs were meh and the style looked unfinished. It's so sad to think this is the 100th anniversary movie but after seeing how lazy Disney has been lately (in movies, I loved the Once upon a studio short), it doesn't surprise me either. Anyway, you can check out my Wish rewrite here and, if you've come this far, thanks for reading and have a good day!

okay not to be cringe but here's another song that sorta fits but an actual shocker this one isn't taylor (omg no wayyy :0)
the living tombstone - I can't fix you- and I know the fnaf fan song part isn't appealing BUT HEAR ME OUT ‼️‼️‼️
the lyrics seem almost akin to alternating lyrics switching from forevers pov manipulating phil to phils pov defending himself
"I've been trying for so long
To sing you the right song
To show you something different every day
So you hear what I have to say
Like puzzle pieces
And now we're here at a standstill
I wonder if you feel
The kind of pain that rips your insides out
That's something I know all about
Shocking, ain't it?"
this could be forever trying to 'reach out' to phil in a way, with how everyday he's been visiting trying to get phil to accept his love and 'affection' and how every moment without phil by his side is agonizing to him- causing so much pain. he's tapping into phils sense of guilt for hurting forever by not being with him. he's trying to relate to the pain phil has felt throughout his life by showing how hurt he's being right now and trying to convince phil that he doesn't wanna hurt forever now too does he?
"Is it because I can't be her?
Made your mistakes and make me hurt
I can't fix you"
this part turns to phil talking to forever, instead of her it's him- the friend phil resembles (aaaaa I forgot their NAMEEE) and how phil isn't the missing piece he's looking for, and that forever is making a mistake trying to look for new love in phil and that he can't patch up that hole that was left and won't be able to fix forever and whatevers wrong with him.
"I can feel my heart breaking
Mistakes I've been making
I'm running out of patience to pretend
This isn't how I'll let it end
My feigning fading
You've been mourning your loss here
And that's grinding my gears
How can a human lose their self control
There's nothing left to make you whole
I'm done explaining"
this part turns back to phil slowly breaking, forever is making his way through phils mind and defenses. now phil is starting to feel like he should be the one accepting forevers affection, and that he should stop 'pretending' to hate forever as their connection grows. the 'this isn't how ill let it end' is a quick flash to phil remembering why he's being hurt in the first place and setting himself straight again and the other lines are him reminding himself that forever is not the good guy here, he's back to the offense- at least for a little while.
"We have a lot more in common
Than you would be calm with
It's like we're the same person, me and you
We both don't know we can do"
this could be a last ditch effort from forever to connect with phil, after hes isolated phil from the rest of the smp, he can focus more on being the only constant in phils life. highlighting how similar they are now that they're all alone together in the prison, could be his way of getting through to phil and showing him how it just makes Sense to be with him. trying to tap into his more logical side by laying out all the puzzle pieces but allowing phil to be the one to put them together.
(apologizes for spamming the asks- ill stop if you need ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ just have many thoughts to share all the time) - 💿
Fnaf fan songs have no right to go this hard??? Like who gave you the right?? also do not stop sending me asks i love it share all of your fml thoughts with me i thrive on it
Anyway yes, absolutely, youre so so so right that i have nothing to add and will instead offer another song : Those Eggs Aren't Dippy
"Dripping eye, dissecting me
Cut my life expectancy
Have me under close inspection"
Phil talking about Forever, how he basically rips him apart and puts him back together, looking at every part of Phil, inside and out. And then he's not only examining every part of Phil as he's taking him apart but also watching him. Every move he makes. He is under very close inspection.
"Let me in your ear
Stop, pout, hear me out no less"
Switching to Forever, asking Phil to just let him in, let him infect his brain, let him change the way he thinks. Hear me out, as he tells Phil how traumatised he is, how hurt he is, how similar they are
And then, "Those eggs aren't dippy and I don't want to die" Can be interpreted as these eggs arent meant to be cracked, dont hurt those kids for the love of god and please, please let me live. But death for the players isnt really a threat, instead "living" here would be getting out. Let him live. Not just survive
Back to Forever with,
"I want a bit of love too
I wanna be close to you"
desperately needing and wanting to be with Phil, he wants his love, he wants to be close to him. He needs it.
"Those eggs aren't dippy and I don't want to die" again.
"You miss a feeling
The smell of the kitchen
See me singing sideways
Hang me from the highway"
Forever again, showing Phil empathy but going on to say "look at all im doing just for you!" in the "see me singing sideways" like bending over backwards. Then, threatening to harm himself again in the next line.
"Out of the dust I play
A break from your desperate cage"
Phil trying everything he can to get out of the prison Forever has made, his "desperate cage"
"A break (Eh, haha)
Going down, breaking, oh (Time to stop)
Nothing"
And then, finally, he breaks. He starts to dissociate, time passes like its "nothing", he's broken and gone and its "time to stop" putting up a fight
Theres more but sjdhsjsbsj long post already just listen to the song<//3

Just saw Wish. I know it's getting hate, but... overall... I thought it was very... meh? Like literally meh.
(whinging)
The protag was likable, though a bit derivative in her motivations. The message was... ok, I suppose. The animation was fairly good in most places.
It does definitely have quite a few big issues, exacerbated by what it's trying so hard to be. All the pieces are there for a great movie, which is what's so frustrating about it.
For me, I felt that the textures and lighting in particular had some kind of issue. They look okay in some places, but the whole thing looked like it was un-rendered on purpose. Like it looked like the behind-the-scenes draft version before they do the final render on it. This was probably to give off a sense of "storybook" quality to the 3d models by rendering them all flat and matte but tbh it looks rather cheap for Disney. All the colors in the movie seem to also be quite muted. The color palette they chose is very cool and understated which made me want to take a nap. And since much of the movie takes place at night, that exacerbates matters a lot. There's also very little variation in setting, colors, or lighting, which makes things boring.
The songs are the biggest problem imo. I can't remember any of the songs at all, they're very forgettable to me. I'm sure there are kids who liked them and I'm not aiming to undercut that, but the fact of the matter is that these songs can't hold a candle to classic Disney songs. Classic Disney songs have a showtune quality. The melodies will stay in your mind for decades after hearing them once. The lyrics are perfectly suited to the characters and story. You want to sing along with them. And... these songs ain't that, sorry. It made sense when I learned that these songs were composed by musicians whose main background was writing Top 40 hits, not Broadway musicals. It sounds like the assignment was to try to be Lin Manuel-Miranda without paying for Lin Manuel-Miranda. They failed spectacularly at that. If there was one movie to get Lin Manuel-Miranda for, it would be this one. Had they done that and had a few absolute banger songs in this, it would have made a HUGE difference in this film's staying power.
As it is, I can't remember much about the music, so it's hard to comment on it. It wasn't offensively bad, just a very generic sound to it that didn't feel Disney-movie-esque (or at least, not major animated feature from Disney-esque. Certainly not 100-year anniversary material). The worst song is This Is The Thanks I Get because it had so much potential and they threw it away. The animation and staging during the song is great, it's actually the highlight of the film for me. They were clearly aiming for this to be the "Let it Go" of the movie, a huge hit that people talk about for a long time. And it's been a very long time since there's been a straight-up unapologetic villain song in a Disney movie, so I was excited for this one. Here's the problem. THE SONG IS NOT IN A MINOR KEY! Why? No, seriously, what were they thinking?? It has all the hallmarks of a big, grandiose megalomaniacal villain song AND IT'S NOT IN A MINOR KEY! The tone of the song is clearly meant to evoke fear as evidenced by the animation and clearly the storyboard artist was aiming for a big, frightening number. The song doesn't match that at all. Instead it's kinda happy? Playful? Like a Top 40 hit that your mom might play in the car? What the fuck? The lost potential is so sad because Maginifico could've been a great and funny villain. He's got the narcissism, comedic qualities, cartoonish mustache twirling and hot DILF-ness to carry the villain role. For some reason though, the big cartoon-y bad guy stuff feels a bit... restrained by the fact that he's trapped in a 3D model. Like the over-the-top maniacal 2D slasher faces that they keep trying so hard to give him just don't translate to 3D very well. He would've looked so much fucking better in 2D, I'm sorry. His voice work is done quite well, though - actually all the voice work in the movie is. (The goat was not that bad honestly)
Apparently one of the concept arts has Magnifico's wife (does she have a name) being evil as well. What the fuck, Disney, where was that?? They could've been an evil power couple, that would've ATE. They also whitewashed her, which... ok, interesting choice. It seems they were also going to have Star take the form of a boy and have a romantic arc with Asha which I'm glad they did NOT do, adding romance to a film like this probably would've served to make it even more generic.
As a movie for little tiny children I think this film is okay. For the Disney fans this was supposed to be a love letter to, let's all go watch Aladdin, Mulan, Lion King (THE ORIGINAL), Beauty and the Beast, and all the other films that weren't created in a boardroom lab. Wish has a generic look, a generic sound, a generic message, and as much as I support those who enjoyed it, I can't help but commiserate with the fans who are disappointed in the less-than-stellar Disney flicks of the past few years. It's like they are allergic to taking risks, hiring creatives and letting them work, or keeping greedy corporate hands out of their projects. Hopefully their revenues keep tanking until they get the message but it looks like Iger is still drinking pure copium based on his recent comments that "audiences don't want films with a message anymore". OK. Yeah, that's what you should take from this, Iger. Have fun continuing to censor your films, gotta get those bucks from the Russian and Chinese markets, pal.

On The Third Day - ELO (album review/fangirl session)
Hello, I am back with another review - and a new profile pic (Hugh my beloved). As always, these are just my own personal opinions! Also, since I didn't specify in my review of the last album, for most of these I'm just doing reviews of the original releases (since that's what's on spotify. Secret Messages will be an exception, but that's still quite a ways away haha).
Now, I'm going to (maybe?) be controversial and use the US cover image here because the UK cover makes me laugh so hard. I'm sorry, I just can't take it seriously lmao (and yes I know it's a fold-out thing, but that does NOT fix how fucking blurry that photo of Jeff is).
Tumblr media
Ocean Breakup / King of the Universe: 6/10 Ooh. I will begin by saying that 90% of the time when I listen to ELO, I just stick the massive ELO playlist on shuffle. But as I do these reviews, I listen to the albums from start to finish. And god damn, this song makes so much more sense listening this way. As an album opener, it's pretty darn solid! Starts off with a very strong, dramatic instrumental, then flows right into the equally epic King of the Universe section. Not really a song I enjoy that much as a stand-alone piece, but it's very effective as an opener!
Bluebird Is Dead: 6/10 Wow, now that I'm sitting down and intentionally listening to this one instead of just having it in the background, I'm noticing so much more about it. Like, the whole instrumental section at 2:30 with that really cool keyboard sound - I genuinely do not recall hearing that until just now, it completely slipped my attention. But it's super cool! Overall, this one sounds quite Beatle-y to me. Shocking, right? :P
Oh No Not Susan: 5/10 There are parts of this song that I enjoy a lot, and parts that are just a bit "meh" to me. Near the start of the song and at the very end, the fast-paced rising line with the violin is superb, I love that sound. But compared to that, the rest of the song is mildly disappointing to me. But, I love how they managed to take that super intense section and transition it to the much calmer section and make it flow naturally. It works, and it's nice.
New World Rising / Ocean Breakup Reprise: 5/10 Damn, the instrumental bits in all of these songs are no joke. Honestly I kind of keep finding myself wishing for Jeff to shush so I can hear the instruments lmao. This one's also a pretty good showcase for Jeff's falsetto at some parts. But yeah, to be totally honest, if they had just made this one a full instrumental, I think I'd like it a lot more.
Showdown: 8/10 Apparently only on some versions of the album, but I can't leave out this one. oKAY right off the bat, I haven't paid much attention to the bassline in this song before, but I'm hearing it now and it is GREAT. Fabulous job, Mr. Albuquerque. Overall just a really solid song, I love it.
Daybreaker: 9/10 Hell yeah, give me that sweet sweet instrumental. Richard Tandy carrying the band and doing a damn fine job of it. This one's super fun to listen to, and the strings are marvelous in it, too.
Ma-Ma-Ma Belle: 7/10 This one keeps growing on me more every time I hear it. It rocks hard, man. The guitar is great, and Jeff making his voice all raspy fits really well. One of the stronger ones of the album, imo. oH SHIT wait I just paid attention to the outro of the song, it's kinda creepy and I love it omg.
Dreaming of 4000: 8/10 Another of my top songs from the album that I enjoy more and more each time. I love the syncopated vocal line in the verses, and I really love the chorus too. Though....I just looked up the lyrics for the first time and I cannot for the life of me tell what this is about. (But I'm generally pretty shit at understanding what lyrics mean unless they're super straight forward, so that might just be a Me problem lmao.)
In the Hall of the Mountain King: 3/10 Eh. I'm not really sure why ELO did a version of this song. It's not bad, but I'd rather hear ELO stuff. Though I do enjoy Bev's drumming here...but that's about it lmao.
---
Overall: 7/10 If I take any random individual song from this album to listen to on its own, with a few exceptions it would just be kind of average (in my opinion). BUT. As an album, this is super solid. The previous two albums had some good stuff on them, but they felt a bit scattered. This one, on the other hand, feels really cohesive to me, and it's definitely a better experience to listen to it straight through rather than just picking a few songs here and there. This is where ELO is starting to hit their stride, and things are about to get damn good.

mike wheeler NEW spotify playlist predictions
i already posted this about my predictions of new spotify playlists dropping tomorrow, and because i love to be proven right and need validation that i am correct, here is my predictions for a new mike playlist:
side note - if i do all of this and there is A. no new spotify playlists at all or B. everyone gets a new playlist BESIDES mike and will...... i will be mildly upset. anyways.
side side note: a lot of these are based on the music chart i made, so it's primarily 70s/80s music, but i know that the actual canon playlists dont care about time period accuracy... so. oh and also 90% these are from the playlists i've been working so long on so. sneak preview if you're interested in that ig
THE SONGS:
Paint It, Black - The Rolling Stones (1966)
so i know mike liking "darker" music is a highly debated topic. But the fact is that they made an effort to make mike look edgier, and ultimately i see them showcasing that in his new playlist. this one is a classic, the whole thing is a metaphor for depression, and i think it fits mike's s4 character arc perfectly.
Suburbia - Pet Shop Boys (1986)
A song about how boring/dull suburban life is. the key here is the last verse of the song: "Suburbia / where the suburbs met utopia / What kind of dream was this / so easy to destroy? And who are we to blame for the sins of the past? / These slums of the future? / suburbia" Up for interpretation, but i think what it's saying that suburban life is the "ideal" life, playing into the nuclear family theme, and how quickly it can crumble apart. obviously fits the wheeler family; perfect "utopian" image, but a closer look shows how distant the family is.
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order (1986)
when i tell you this song has been on my mike wheeler playlist foreeeever. it's so so fitting. I can't even explain how fitting this song is so i'm just going to give you some lyrics:
"Livin' a life that I can't leave behind /There's no sense in telling me / The wisdom of the fool won't set you free /But that's the way that it goes and it's what nobody knows /Well, every day my confusion grows"
"I feel fine and I feel good /I'm feeling like I never should /Whenever I get this way, I just don't know what to say /Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday?"
I Want To Break Free - Queen (1984)
this one of many deceptively-coded songs i'm including on this list. at first glance it could be a mlvn song, but a closer examination makes you realize how byler coded it is. could be a double metaphor- wanting to break free from heteronormativity, but also maybe wanting to break free from vecna's curse.
Shake the Disease - Depeche Mode (1985)
(i'm the #1 believer in depeche mode fan mike btw, so if none of the new songs on his playlist are by them, i will be SO fucking disappointed.)
like i've said previously, deceptive song. the lyrics themselves have two possibly meanings: a man promising his girlfriend that he will give up a bad habit for her to "prove" his love for her. the other meaning: a man suffering from internalized homophobia. both are perfect for mike. i much prefer the internalized homophobia explanation, and that's the vibe i first got when hearing this song, but, yknow. they're vague enough to not spoil anything.
here's the lyrics, idk, let me know what you think their meaning is:
"Here is a plea from my heart to you /Nobody knows me as well as you do /You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease /That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these"
That's Really Super, Supergirl - XTC (1986)
this is a purely mlvn song. in essence, a song about a man in a relationship with a super hero, he feels like she's abandoning him and their relationship, and despite the fact that she has super powers and is saving the world, she cannot fix their relationship. super fucking fitting, if you ask me.
Telephone Line - Electric Light Orchestra (1976)
not sure if it's quite his genre, but by god if the lyrics don't fit. honestly, i will go insane if they include any song with mention of a phone call in the lyrics. anyways, the song is about a guy trying to call his ex, who never picks up. heres some lyrics:
"Are you still the same? /Don't you realize the things we did, we did /Were all for real, not a dream? /I just can't believe /They've all faded out of view"
Out in the Cold - Judas Priest (1986)
dipping our toes into some metal here. basically a song about a guy who has been left by his lover, and he calls for them to come back for him. could play into mike's insecurities, and also foreshadow him being a damsel-in-distress next season.
Homosapien - Pete Shelley (1981)
okay, so this one is kind of a joke. i'm putting this on here ONLY TO SAY: this is the gayest possible song i can think of them putting on mike's playlist. like mike wheeler's days as a heterosexual are fucking over with if this song graces his playlist. do i really expect it to? no. but do i hope it does? yes.
Where Did Our Love Go? - Soft Cell (1981)
title is pretty itself is self-explanatory. can be a mlvn or byler song.
Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy - Queen (1976)
fuck it, another gay song i don't realistically see them adding but i want them to anyway.
Bringin' On The Heartbreak - Def Leppard (1981)
mlvn song. kind of goes into how mike is giving el the "best" of him, but it's still not good enough. yea.
I Could Show You How - Naked Eyes (1983)
another deceptive byler-coded song. gonna just give you the lyrics:
"You've been away for so long /You walked out on me /There's no communication /No letters for me /And I wish that I could break this chain of reaction /Turn my feelings into action"
Still Loving You - Scorpions (1984)
do not let the heterosexual couple on the cover of this album fool you, i did pick this for byler. you could view it from a mlvn lens for sure, though that was not my intent.
"Yes, I've hurt your pride /And I know what you've been through /You should give me a chance /This can't be the end"
Don't Let Me Down - The Beatles (1970)
The lyrics may appear somewhat romanitic at first, but the way that they're sung, and with how many times they repeat, they begin to sound like either a cry for help or like they're trying to convince themselves they are true. i do consider this a mlvn song.
Senseless - Erasure (1986)
michael wheeler gay yearning ost
Why Can't This Be Love? - Van Halen (1986)
originally thought this would be a mlvn song but surprise, it's a byler song because it's about unrequited love
Better by You, Better Than Me - Judas Priest (1978)
(this particular song has an extremely controversial history but i picked it only because i liked the lyrics lol.)
basically, this song is about a guy telling his friend to tell his lover how he feels because he feels his friend can do a better job of conveying it.
That's the Way (I Like It) - Dead or Alive (1984)
you can put any dead or alive song here tbh they're all gonna serve the same purpose of being extremely gay, i just liked this one the best
Oh! Darling - The Beatles (1969)
a song pleading for a girl to not leave. the lyrics make whatever relationship was at stake sound very co-dependent. paul really strains his vocal chords to sing this one, which adds to the intensity of the pleas.
"When you told me, you didn't need me anymore /Well, you know I nearly broke down and cried /When you told me, that you didn't need me anymore /Well, you know I nearly fell down and died"
Ordinary World - Duran Duran (1993)
a song more mike wheeler-coded has never existed. if this was time period-accurate mike wheeler would be crying his eyes out to this DO YOU HEAR ME?
one of many fitting lyrics from this song:
"What is happening to me? /Crazy, some'd say /Where is my friend when I need you most? /Gone away"
It Doesn't Matter - Depeche Mode (1984)
moody song about a man lamenting the loss of his romantic love despite his feelings still remaining. i consider it a byler song, jealous and depressed mike vibes for sure.
"I am happy that I have you /Even though you're not here now /I know somewhere you are dreaming /Though it's definitely not of me"
and that's basically it! i have just a couple more, but these are my top contenders. the duffer brothers personally owe me 5 dollars for anyone i do get right btw

hi i have listened to uhmm 1 adam lambert song i thin kcan't remember the title right now but it was really funn i love it ^_^ do u have.. any recommendations.. ? for more songs to listen to :O?
no idea why i saved doing this for now when i feel absolutely exhausted but im not sure what to spend my time doing so list!!! disclaimer im not very good at making recs so im just going to pick different songs that have a wide range of vibes and try to hit on each album okay yeah :]
runnin' (trespassing) - this song is the first song i have a clear memory of my older brother introducing me to so it's my nostalgia song. insanely fucking good. follows the adam lambert formula of a hardcore verse and then this kind of lift in the pre chorus <- not sure how to explain. also LOVE the bridge and in the last chorus we get some incredibly vocals from adam so this is a big fave
shady (trespassing) - VIBES ALL THE WAY DOWN. this song makes me bop incredibly hard, it has a super catchy beat. adam also does this amazing slides into notes in all the pre choruses that gives it that kind of 'jazzy' feel (the way that hitting accidentals usually do). this is just a dancey song i would say!
soaked (for your entertainment) - has this jaw dropping opener (jaw dropping for me bc we don't usually hear that kind of sound from adam's music) but is overall a pretty slow song! it's this gorgeous ballad i would say. i feel like out of all his albums this one has the most diversity in songs but that might just bc the transition from soaked to sure fire winners is IMMENSE
more than (take one) - this is one of his oldest songs and you can somewhat tell by the sound, has this kind of slow march narrative anthem kind of energy, if that makes sense. i feel like the majority of take one has this hopeful lifting energy and that's definitely in this one but it feels well earned
the original high (the original high) - CRAZY catchy, has this kind of constant drive in the background with the acoustic guitar and fast beat. i feel like this is one of the adam lambert classics, it's not only the name of the album but it just feels very pinnacle in a sense. maybe not the most interesting in terms of his experimentation but very good nevertheless.
after hours (the original high) - this is a more mellow one of his but what i love about his mellow music is it still has a drive to it (even feel something off of velvet has this kind of gospel effect); this one still has a damn good beat underneath even when the sounds are a lot softer and fading in and out.
on the moon (velvet) - this one had me hand over my mouth for a few minutes after listening. his voice is very soft in this one over the really neat beat (sorry idk how to describe background instrumentals and electro bits well). the chorus is kind of transcendant and the best comparison (the BEST not necessarily a good one) is a little like frank ocean but only sort of.
superpower (velvet) - GAY RIGHTS GAY RIGHTS. super fucking catchy, love the bass. bit repetitive in lyrics but his vocals r SOOOO good and the lyrics that are there are really good imo. i wouldn't call adam one of those artists with heavy metaphorical lyricism or anything, this is no the amazing devil that's for sure, but they're effective and good and he vocally nails it each and every time. it also has a bit of a choral effect in the later bits which he loveeees doing so if ur not into that maybe pass but i think it's kinda funky!
if i had you (for your entertainment) - what got me down on this whole adam lambert fixation today. one of the earliest songs i ever heard from him it's just. has a hard and rhythmic bass hammering into you, a little of a more darker pop vibe, where the lyrics in my blog title come from. it's just a fun vibe and the music video has a MAJOR FLASH WARNING but if you're able to handle that it's like. so so fun.
better than i know myself (trespassing) - i rec this song a lot to people so not sure why i didn't already mention it. the lyrics encompass a lot of the vibes of a lot of different adam lambert songs but this one is just. SO good. the kind that you sing out while sobbing i think. also his vocals are beautiful.
sorry for all the recs and iffy descriptions but ^_^ hope you enjoy!!

Hi! I hope you had a good week! I hope you have a nice trip with your family and some down time in the upcoming week. Things are mostly fine..I just have to spend time doing a lot of spring cleaning that sometimes overwhelms me. I haven't had time to watch Poor Things or eras yet but will totally tell you what I think when I do. I'm really hoping by the end of this weekend. I've also heard mixed things and it might not be my kind of movie either but I will watch it for her and since it was up for awards. I saw it being compared to Barbie cuz the plot is kinda similar but it's also probably a lot weirder lol. Even if I end up not liking it, I think her performance can make up for that.
I don't really know because she didn't have a lot of singing as Gretchen in the movie or much part at all and I thought what's wrong with me was one of the most awkward parts of the movie besides Stupid with Love lol. But her voice is beautiful and probably better than or for Cady. I totally agree about It Roars! Changing her opening song added nothing..and she really did just seem like a new student, not even homeschooled really. They did try to show some of her awkwardness though. I honestly don't remember the actual scene in the musical for More is Better but I guess I agree cuz she didn't really have a reflection type moment at all, and all her relationships or friendships didn't seem as genuine. So basically the mathletes song would not have made sense in the movie. Like we didn't get to see her growth as the main character..I think Janis and Regina's changes were felt more..idk? So it's just kinda there for me too since the movie and musical already exist. But people seem to still like it, even as a musical or remake, so it's not totally bad. Haha I can't comment cuz that was my first introduction to Les Mis and so were a lot of other movie musicals, like Hairspray or Sweeney Todd. But I didn't even like Les Mis when I first watched it..I thought it was long and boring...l so I will say opinions can change haha.
Well I never had the chance to order and was able to pick the one I wanted since they were all already announced but I agree with your points. Usually I just wait until they're all announced anyway and I did that with 1989 too. I think she specifically wanted something new to announce at every country tour stop though so it kinda makes sense to spread it out. She announced Midnights and 1989 all at once I think...or at least we knew how many there were beforehand. This time I wasn't sure cuz I thought maybe there would only be two bonus tracks at first, similar to Evermore. So that makes it hard because we have to pick the version based on a song we haven't even heard yet. That's why I went with the cover I liked best, the Albatross and I never really play my vinyls anyway lol. I'm honestly still not sure what to think of these bonus tracks yet..like if they're all connected in some way like different endings like Folklore and Evermore or if it's more like 3AM..and they are just extras that didn't fit the album. They all have "the" in the title and seem pretty similar based on the concepts, which is almost like old fashioned words or phrases. It just gives me that vibe. but it also bothers me we won't get to hear them with the rest of the album on a first listen and how the vinyl will be missing other songs. But I think other artists do it and some people like the special edition vibe of each one.
Anyway the explicit tracks are the tortured poets department, Down Bad, But Daddy I Love Him, Florida, loml, I can do it with a broken heart, and the smallest man who ever lived. So I was already interested in the title track but this made me more interested since those are always my favorites. I also think the song will set the tone of the album maybe, like Fearless and Red in a way. Or it might be a single..but if it is, I would expect it to be similar to Cardigan in a way. A song I love with a lot of metaphors or her best lyrics. I also think the song could be about her career or how she uses writing songs to get through her life. But I also saw someone say it could be about how her and Joe loved being sad writing sad songs together so maybe it's a bad thing and a metaphor for their relationship or breakup. Either of these could be interesting to me! So it's hard to imagine her using harsh language for this song so I would guess it's minor. What do you think? I haven't thought much about Down Bad as a song..lol but maybe she will twist the phrase and what we would usually think it means? It's one of the ones that don't stand out to me so I guess this makes me more curious. But Daddy I love Him didn't shock me cuz it's very Lana. loml could be the same idea of down bad and she's changing the phrase, or the title is misleading. I feel like it's something she would do and that was one of the songs I was already excited for and same with Florida. I can do it with a broken heart also seems like one that will have minimal language to me but maybe i'm wrong. It wouldn't surprise me if she says fuck in smallest man who ever lived though. I think maybe two of these songs might say the f word and that's it. It seems to be the pattern from her last few albums. Anyway I can send you more of my thoughts on other songs later closer to the album coming out. But omg about rep! Do you still like some songs? I totally get it if it's not your vibe..but I personally love it. Maybe the rerecording will make you.like it hopefully. I just think it's one of her albums that I like as the full album..more than individual songs. I think half of this album seems like it could be kinda similar to rep almost? Like telling a full story in a way chronologically possibly in the way that rep does..the same way it kinda told the beginning of the relationship. Aww I hope you still have fun and enjoy listening to the new album when you come back! My sister and I started writing our thoughts while we listen to each song on texts to each other so we can remember our first impressions and we do it for albums we are really excited for!
We did it for the last few but sometimes like with the Kacey or Bleachers one there's not a lot to say. For Taylor, I like to get my first listen in and then write my thoughts so I'm not distracted but sometimes I can't always remember certain lyrics that stood out. It's kinda fun to look back at reactions and see which ones stood out and also sometimes helps keep track of which song is which or which ones we liked. My favorites usually stay the same but with Midnights there was so many i thought was just okay at first, like you're on your own kid or Antihero. What are you hoping to get at record store day?
I would definitely recommend the Eternal Sunshine movie! It kinda reminds me of a more weird kinda bleak version of 500 days of summer if you've seen that. But the movie is about erasing all of your memories and a person from your mind which was the concept of the song but didn't fit the whole album to me.
Well twenty one pilots has another new song and video out and I love it! They also announced their tour so that gives me something to look forward to. You can always listen to it or their other albums if you want and see what you think. Even if you play the two new songs, it shows they can do different genres and different sides to their music lol. I also spent the week listening to Beyonce's albums and I realized that I love when artists can do different genres. It shows their creativity and artistry and how much they care about music. I definitely felt that with her new album! It's pretty long but it was new and different for her and I admire how she made her version of country. It was also kinda split into sections with radio interludes. I only heard it once but I'm excited to listen to it again. I think I liked it more than my first listen of Renaissance actually and it has more slow songs and vocals so you might enjoy it! My favorites were Bodyguard, Alligator Tears, Levi's Jeans, Riverdance, and Hands II Heaven I but just on the first listen. I would also recommend Soccer Mommy and Best Coast which are alternative singer songwriters pretty similar to Paramore if you need more recommendations! don't worry about replying, since this ask got really long. I hope you have a good weekend enjoying time with family.
helloooo friend!! i hope you've been doing well 🤍 so sorry this has been so delayed 🤍
how have things been for you? what have you been up to? have you been listening to anything new? i've been essentially looping either cast recordings, schmigadoon (which i finally watched yesterday + today), espresso by sabrina carpenter & good luck babe by chappell roan. i listened to the new maggie rogers once and liked it, same with the new lizzy mcalpine, but haven't had the brain capacity to properly listen and learn lyrics and all that yet!
i haven't really done album of the day in like three weeks... oops? i think it started to feel more like a chore than something i was doing for fun. and that was also what happened to my hobonichi, but i've also been sick + out of town so i'm giving myself some slack there :( i feel like every time i talk to you i am sick and i'm sorry i keep complaining about it!!
i've always loved les mis, but i think i was predisposed to do so! i've only seen the sweeney film, and until recently haven't really been interested in it but i might hunt down a bootleg and see if i like it... we'll see. have we talked about schmigadoon yet? i feel like we have, but i can't remember. i'm currently sick (what else is new) which is why i finally sat down and watched schmigadoon — i might finally watch some bootlegs i've been meaning to watch for ages too.
happy tortured poets release week!! i'm still feeling a bit detached from the album and release week, but i'm excited to talk to you about it and hear your thoughts/your favorite songs! i saw the songwriter credit list came out today; i don't think my opinions on what songs i'm most intrigued by has changed, but i'm curious if yours has based on who worked on what!
i am no longer doing record store day since i'm sick :((((( but i'm hoping that a friend will be able to pick up a record or two for me, and maybe i'll luck out trying to hunt things down online the next day!
i listened to the new beyonce album while i was on vacation! i really liked it and i think the radio interludes were really cool! i'll have to do a couple more listens until i can pick a favorite though!!
did you get tickets to the 21p tour? i hope you did! 🤍 i'm so sorry this is short!! i have not been feeling well but i wanted to reply to this before it got even longer <3333 love you!
