Dame Aylin spent a hundred years in the dark dreaming of her dead lover, being killed over and over, and seething with deific rage.

One kind touch frees her, and then she gets up and the first thing she wants to do—the only thing, in fact—is to soar through the sky to go cleave a bloody path through her enemies.

And, you know, there could easily have been a version of this character, a more ironic and cynical and hashtag relatable version, who would have been like, "Ha, but first I want a bath." But we didn't get that. We got Dame Aylin in her armour, with her wings, blasting through the sky as this earnest picture of ecstatic divine wrath instead.

What is she like, now that she's free? What is she like with Isobel, now that Isobel lives again? I want her to be this towering, sincere, mighty figure for real, but I also want her to be soooo fucking damaged about it.
