ok im rewatching the cali scenes and i just noticed something very interesting.
during mike and elevens fight they used the song Eulogy from season 2. it’s a slightly newer version but undeniably the same song. this song first plays when nancy is crying over barb in barb’s family’s bathroom. then in this season we hear a different version of it when max is reading the letter to billy.
then i went and checked if it played during hoppers “death” and bobs death. it didnt play for either of their final scenes but for bob it played later that episode when joyce is alone grieving and hopper joins her.
the song has only ever been associated with death and people who have already died. this is the first time theyve used that song for something that isnt a character death. i think they chose that song during their fight to signify that their relationship is dead and has been for a long time.

watching like an hour and a half long break down explaining all the connections Jesus as a mythological figure has connections with Dionysus and how that was somewhat recognized and understood in early Christianity and I realized the exact kind of cult I could fall for
#there were things I liked about Catholicism and it was all the things that made people uncomfortable#like the ritualistic cannibalizing of god#i loved that#i loved the concept of that#makes people uncomfy tho#even after I stopped believing in Catholisim or like god at all I was like 'hmmm might stick around for the cannibalism'#(i didn't stick around but still that would have been the reason I stayed if I had)#anyway the video made me connect things I already knew and just didn't put together#and it made me realize that a lot of my fascination with Dionysian cults align with what I liked about Catholicism#oops well if anyone wants to become a Maenad let me know

Well, for sure they both would be so fucking surprised if it actually worked 🤣 Let's say in this world Slade doesn't want to fuck Dick when Dick's hurt, no matter what Dick says about it (he tried hiding that he's hurt but it never worked so far, somehow Slade always knows)
But one time Dick managed to convince Slade to do something fun while mmm let's say having a broken wrist and. His wrist is magically healed in the morning. Here's how I imagine their conversation would go:

"You can help me heal faster that way!"

As a homesteader, I can say 100% Halsin needs some serious help. He is all about "nature has a balance, where all are cared for", meanwhile here I am, having to pull two drakes off one lady duck because, by nature, both will attempt to breed her as roughly as possible, even if it ends up injuring/killing her.
Also, by nature, my chickens have a strict pecking order. A good few get bullied as they are the lowest in the order. I attempted to introduce some young ladies to my less than a foot tall Sebright Rooster, and he was brutal with the bullying. I had to pull them out, he was so bad.
Nature is not a beautiful, idealistic lifestyle. It is survival of the fittest.
Perhaps Halsin needs to seriously rethink civilizations' role in nature. That we, as people of all races, differ from animals in that we can choose to rise above our basic desires and urges if we so choose. Chaotic change is normal among the wilds, but we can actually bring good change, despite however much evil is in the world.
That is our role.
