Record of Ragnarok Incorrect Quote #11
Y/N and Zeus Chat
After Y/N wins over Hera, Zeus is not happy since he’s being filed for a Divorce all for a human, but wants to prove he’s… ‘nice’
Zeus (Gets a phone call and sees the contact is ‘Home Wrecker’): Hermes! It’s Y/N!
Hermes (Surprised): Answer it, I want to hear!
Zeus (Answers): Mx. Y/N, how…nice of you to call
Y/N: Hello, I really enjoyed my time last night with Hera, Zeus
Zeus: Oh…Hera told me all about it…in great detail
Y/N: …Or should I say, ‘Douche’?
Hermes (Surprised):
Y/N: Ha ha ha!
Hermes (Looks at his father and is trying not to laugh):
Zeus (Anger rising): …Yes, congratulations… you won fair and square… very impressive for a mortal
Y/N: Do you like brain teasers?
Zeus: Oh, I love brain teasers
Y/N: What does Zeus and a Black Hole have in common?
Zeus and Hermes (Looking at each other confused):
Y/N: They both suck!
Hermes (Bursts out laughing): Ha ha ha!
Zeus (Murderous look): ….

Tip: If you claim that you like a particular figure from Greek mythology, but you feel the need to change almost everything about them, rewrite their personality, ignore those aspects of them that you find uncomfortable, , and in short turn them into your original character, consider that you probably don't actually like that figure from Greek mythology.

So…how likely would Leander do that thing Zeus did, and trap you in his consciousness forever because he won’t let you go?

i don't think early-series hera gets enough credit for how funny she is. "scans do indicate a percentage drop in the tank's capacity that is commensurate with the amount officer eiffel could stuff into a crewmember duffel bag"? she saw him do it. she probably talked to him while he did it. it's the tonal dissonance between highly technical phrasing and a very blunt observation. like when eiffel asks her for her top five 'stick it to the man' songs and she asks him things like 'top five lanthanides?' until he says "you're just yanking my chain, aren't you?" and she responds by quoting anarchy in the uk at him. sure, sometimes there are things she genuinely doesn't get and/or would express differently, but the way she frames it is playing with the false expectations people have of her. she knows exactly what she's doing.

It's so sad that Hera and Sabine got distilled down to their entire personalities basically being "snarky." Like Filoni took the fact that Hera and Sabine had senses of humor that could, yes, make them snarky in Rebels, and revolved their ENTIRE personalities around that in the Ahsoka show.
Like in Rebels, Hera is snarky sometimes, sure, but she's also one of the warmest and most nurturing personalities on the show as well as someone who DOES believe in systems (good faith systems like the Rebellion, not like the Empire obviously) and in respecting that the leadership set in place has good reasons for their rules and orders. Hera is the person who gets upset if the OTHER characters choose to just do whatever they want rather than follow orders. So yeah, she's snarky, but that doesn't mean she's someone who just does whatever she wants. It means she's someone who has a sense of humor.
And Sabine in Rebels is snarky, yes, but she has an entire arc where she goes from being a literal bratty teenager who has some issues with authority and blind loyalty to being a merciful, patient, compassionate, mature adult who respects the necessity of making decisions based on the greater good. She does still like explosives, yes, but her snark and her appreciation for a good explosive does not make up the entirety of her personality. She acts like a bit more of a bratty teenager at the beginning because she IS a teenager in the beginning, but she grows OUT of that by the end of the show and over the course of MULTIPLE different arcs per season. The fact that she's snarky doesn't mean she doesn't respect good strategy and tactics OR that she'd abandon a ceremony honoring someone she loves that she's been asked to speak at OR that she's someone who would make the selfish choice that literally undoes someone else's sacrifice. It just means she happens to have a sense of humor.
Snark is not a personality nor is it something you can base a character's personality AROUND. And yet that seems to be exactly what Filoni has done on the Ahsoka show. They're snarky characters so that means that they disrespect authority, do whatever they want, and act based purely on emotion. How interesting. How unique.

Would be set in season 2 of Ahsoka
<Ezra and Hera have employed the help of the chiss accendency to help take Thrawn down>
Hera: Thrawn we will stop you. Thrawn: You can not stop me. Eli: Thrawn. Come back to the accendency. Thrawn: I can't. I'm comitting war crimes. Eli: Fuck. That's so hot. Thrawn: That's why I do it.

I hate Percy Jackson.
I hate the plot that is, and many MANY parts of it. Now that’s not to say the actors are bad or anything, in fact I think they’re incredible. I haven’t watched the show or read the books but from the clips I’ve seen those actors are amazing and deserve respect and praise. But I am going to go over everything I have against the show in this mini essay of mine.
Like the show and want to counter my points? Feel free to! Leave a comment, reblog with your response, send an ask, all is welcome! I may think very strongly on my points but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to hear others out, but please welcome my response as well (also anon is on so if you have thoughts but don’t really feel confident sharing them on your account you can send by anon instead, still gonna get answered and no judgement passed :) )
NOW! ONTO MY RAMBLINGS!
First of all, Athena. As someone whose name is literally ‘athena-rocks’ I’m sure you can guess that I feel very passionately about this and have a lot to say.
The first thing I want to bring up is the whole child thing. Athena is a virgin goddess why does she have a child? From what I understand Annabeth is born from her mind, as in thought. Which is immensely stupid. The only account of asexual reproduction I can think of is Hera and the birth of Hephaestus, but even then she had a pregnancy and he was born, he didn’t just show up?? The only being I can think of that just pop up is Chaos, who is seen as both a God and a thing, it is, it’s primordial, so are Athena’s children in this also primordial? No they’re demigods.
Also the idea that Athena just abandons her children? No! There’s literally a myth that directly opposes it! Erichthonius!
Erichthonius is the first king of Athens, before Athens got super amazing and awesome and totally cool and really popular and thus got the totally cool founding myth of Athena vs Poseidon. He was born after Hephaestus tried to assault Athena, he’s autochthonous meaning born of the earth. Some of Hephaestus’s… seed, got onto Athena’s thigh, she wiped it off and threw it to the earth as she ran away and Erichthonius is born.
Now Athena has no obligation to this child, it’s not hers in any form, it came from the man who tried to assault her, yet she still chooses to look after and raise the child! There! She has no reason to do this but does, so why she would abandon the children that she does have an obligation to?
And by all accounts I can find Erichthonius had a good childhood, he’s half snake creature thing and when the daughters of Cecrops (who Athena had given Erichthonius to with him in a basket and told them not to open it while she did something) saw him and were horrified Athena either drove them mad so they killed themselves or dropped a mountain she was carrying in rage. So she cares about him.
Now, the Medusa thing.
Medusa was a monster, the original Greek myth she was always a monster. I understand the appeal of a woman who can defend herself from any man who would dare harm her by just glaring at them, but can’t she just have always been that? Can’t she have just always been a powerful monster who can always protect herself? I’m mostly upset at the Medusa thing in this context because I’ve seen people shipping her with Athena, which is weird as Athena is not only a virgin goddess but a mythological figure who was and in some sense still is worshipped to this day.
There are myths that also actively oppose this, when Cassandra was raped Athena was so furious she drive lesser Ajax mad so he killed himself and for 1000 years they had to send maidens to become Athena’s priestesses to appease her. But Medusa being raped by Poseidon, someone who she’s been known to have beef with? No. Fuck her.
AND ARES!!
Ares who killed someone for harassing his daughter, Ares who is the only God to have never assaulted someone, A BAD FATHER?? A CRUEL MAN??? Anger issues? Sure! I can accept that! But bad father? No.
I think the PJO series just hates the idea of war God’s being good parents and it shows.
I’ll end here, but if anyone would like to add on to this post or argue against me please feel free to. Just don’t be an asshole, I’m fine to discuss peacefully I’m not fine with just being flat out attacked.
Thank you for reading!

I love paintings of Hera where she looks so gentle and sweet bc while it’s not completely accurate to mythology I like to think she had a soft side once upon a time.

Regardless of how Hera might have felt about Hephaistos in the beginning, he is definitely the child she is most proud of. Not that he has much (or any really) competition, but she is very happy to have one of the cleverest and most talented gods as her son. The fact that he is also the only god who cares about her so much that he is willing to provoke the anger of Zeus for her sake without a care for what will happen to him as a result of his involvement helps, too.
