Started missing drawing rabbits so here’s a bunch of em

So I read the watership down graphic novel a few days ago (it was very good, great adaptation of the original book though some things were missing/lacking) and it gave me the itch to draw bunnies again. So instead of, idk, cooking or eating dinner I drew a bunch of watership down bunny rabbits :) Its almost 12 am and im starving but I just needed to get it done today, i wanted to share the watership down love. Who knows, maybe if I had stopped, it would have ended up in wip limbo/hell and i didnt want that to happen Anyhow, I sadly wasnt able to fit everyone but I tried to include most of the main bunnies. I was gonna squeeze blackavar in there but i was all out of brain juice and also canvas space. I used photo references of wild rabbits to try and get the shapes right but the ears were very challenging. Im afraid some might have turned out looking more like hares instead but I really tried my best! (this took me like over 4 hours rip) I also tried really hard to make their coat colors and patterns varied but still believable/natural-ish. Vervain is a lil random because honestly i didnt know what to do for him so i just let the vibes guide me. To fill the empty space beneath pipkin i included tiny El-ahrairah, the black rabbit of Inlé and frith because i despise having empty space on sketch pages. Anyhow im gonna try to figure out what to eat now, hope you guys enjoy!

It's gonna be fun to re-read tfota after reading the darkest part of the forest and the modern faerie tales,

already knowing the pre stories of the court of termites and alderking's court

Pip and Ravi, Stevie and Nate, Charlotte and Jamie, Daisy and Hazel have made me realise that I have a thing for smart reckless detectives and the protector of those chaotic detectives.

Illustration based off of book descriptions vs what keeps happening. When it comes to fan designs, I guess I can understand not quite remembering the book descriptions or taking liberties with it, but when it comes to official art there is no excuse for this.

This is Hazel Thistle one of my Bennoly Fankid's

She has 3 other Brothers; her being the oldest, their names are : Butercup Thistle and Oak Thistle, her younger sister and brother.

She theoretically has an older sister whose name would be Tulip Thistle, but unfortunately she ended up dying( due to a miscarriage).

Some times after this incident , Hazel was Born and was called little rainbow by her parents, and after a while her little sister and brother came.

I've been working on a playlist for Jessamine, and flipping through my Watcher playlists, most of them have an leaning towards an artist or even specific album.

Lillian's is The Indigo Girls, and honestly sometimes I just listen straight to Restrospective for Lillian vibes.

Amaryllis is Brandi Carlile, specifically The Firewatcher's Daughter.

Hazel is pretty mixed, but has a slight leaning to Brandi Carlile, Bear Creek.

Cal is also pretty mixed, but with a slight preference to Natalie Merchant and Sarah McLachlan.

And then there's Jessamine, whose leading artist is Stevie Nicks.

So, knowing now what's up with Severin and Roiben... I have to give to Cardan credit for his suggestion to Jude, it was genius strategic move. Like he said "He might be foolish, but he's not a fool" and knows quite a bit despite he was drunk all the time...

I'm glad I read The Darkest Part of the forest and The Modern Faerie Tales, although I didn't like them as much as tfota...

mostly bc they have more heavy atmosphere, I mean Requiem for a Dream kind of heavy, with a lot of not so fairy themes not so far from real world like homeless teenagers, drug addiction and multiple betrays by siblings(I know, right? Hello, Tyran) and by other close relatives ( I didn't expect to find here slut mom who's sleeping with daughter's bf 😳)...

and I must say, even though you can't accuse Jude in being lovely and sweet, the main characters in those are pretty damaged and flawed.

I would say I liked Kaye more than others, but maybe it's also because she's in two books, so her story is more fleshed out

So im reading the queen of nothing and im at the part where Jude goes to Severin and sees Hazel and Ben and comments on how they're twins. But, they are not twins. Ben is a whole year older than Hazel. I thought that I was just misremembering The Darkest Part of the Forrest but when Ben is given is magic blessing the mom is pregnant with Hazel and Ben is a baby. That's why got a special talent and Hazel didn't. Hazel wasnt born yet. They're not twins.

Idk if this is a retcon or if Jude is just projecting her life onto these two strangers. Am I crazy?

Been thinking about Watership Down a lot recently, both from a literature perspective and from a xenofiction perspective! It has it's clear biases and flaws but I still love it all the same! Had to draw some of the main crew while they were in my head! In order: Bigwig, Hazel, Fiver, Strawberry, Blueberry, Holly, and Dandelion ! Almost the entire Sandleford crew but not quiet!
