So I read the watership down graphic novel a few days ago (it was very good, great adaptation of the original book though some things were missing/lacking) and it gave me the itch to draw bunnies again.
So instead of, idk, cooking or eating dinner I drew a bunch of watership down bunny rabbits :) Its almost 12 am and im starving but I just needed to get it done today, i wanted to share the watership down love. Who knows, maybe if I had stopped, it would have ended up in wip limbo/hell and i didnt want that to happen
Anyhow, I sadly wasnt able to fit everyone but I tried to include most of the main bunnies. I was gonna squeeze blackavar in there but i was all out of brain juice and also canvas space. I used photo references of wild rabbits to try and get the shapes right but the ears were very challenging. Im afraid some might have turned out looking more like hares instead but I really tried my best! (this took me like over 4 hours rip)
I also tried really hard to make their coat colors and patterns varied but still believable/natural-ish. Vervain is a lil random because honestly i didnt know what to do for him so i just let the vibes guide me.
To fill the empty space beneath pipkin i included tiny El-ahrairah, the black rabbit of Inlé and frith because i despise having empty space on sketch pages.
Anyhow im gonna try to figure out what to eat now, hope you guys enjoy!
This perennial species in the verbena family is native to much of the United States and Mexico. It's usually found growing in disturbed wetlands, ditches, or yards and provides nectar for many beneficial insects when it blooms during summer.
The plant pictured was in disturbed bottomland woods near Butler Lake and the Meramec River in southern St. Louis County, Missouri, USA
Something to notice or maybe I'm the only crazy one who thought of it.
But doesn't it seem to you that Vervain and Orchis in the miniseries could have functioned as a sort of Anti-Hazel and Fiver?
Look at it this way, the two are the only sibling rabbits we've seen that at least stayed together for a long time (and well it makes sense that it's weird, rabbits aren't famous for their sibling relationships). You can tell they have a very strong and appreciative relationship with each other, we already know that about Hazel and Fiver. But in the case of Vervain and Orchis, we see that they both care for each other in a certain way. Vervain, a rabbit who we know was raised in Efrafa's cruel and harsh system shows respect and trust towards his brother. Then we see that despite not probing much further into it, after his death Orchis shows quite a lot of remorse and anger towards it, which makes it apparent that their appreciation was mutual and legitimate.
Now in terms of roles.
Vervain is a high ranking captain, he earned his position in full "right" due to his aggressiveness and harshness when dealing with other rabbits.
Hazel on the other hand is a "common" rabbit who slowly earned his position as chief after demonstrating his leadership and ability despite not being a particularly large or strong individual.
Hazel is compassionate and calm, Vervain is rough and aggressive.
Then we have Orchis, who like Fiver stands out for being a thin and small rabbit, which leads them to be easily intimidated by larger rabbits.
However, despite not having visions, both Orchis and Fiver prove to be able to overcome their physical weaknesses with intelligence.
Orchis is deceptive and cunning, Fiver has great reasoning, empathy and it's sincere.
I don't know about you. There would be more to look at but I think this is the highlights.
I was going to wait until I made an actual FFXIV blog to post any gposes, but since that's probably not going to happen any time soon... I wanted to share some of my favorites (which is most of them, lol) from 2023 - aka my first year gposing! The top picture is the very first gpose I ever took. Boga got the most of attention, of course, but I've been taking more with some of my other characters, too - Vervain, the white rabbit, and Rachine, who's also my preview model for my upscales. I have far more characters who'll be getting some more spotlight... eventually. :)
Here's to more pretty pictures in 2024, and continuous improvement!
A brand new print from @amandaherzman printed on beautiful textured paper that echo old botanicals.
These are the flowers that occur on Amanda’s walks around her neighbourhood. While invasive to her locality and considered weeds, they still have a fascinating, intrinsic beauty.
imagine being a human in the Vampire Diaries universe with a genuine vervain allergy… Not making it past season one cause you got tranquilized by sherif Forbes and just died. Getting absolutely wrecked and bullied by the council because of a freaking plant allergy.
