the end of tommy's exile is now two years old. discussion of the suicide itself has been done over and over by myself and many others, so I don't feel much need to say anything more about it. to me, though, the moments directly after his attempt are everything and more.
tommy goes to technos house and begins to burrow under it. he insists that he's going to get better, and it's the first time in a while that we've seen tommy be genuinely excited about something. getting better for tommy at that point wasn't just about exile; it was also about wilbur being gone, it was about being separated from tubbo. tommy told himself that he was going to get better and believed it. "just getting through the day" was no longer enough. he was going to get better. he insisted on it. and the best part? he did. with time and a few missteps, of course, but he did. he finally won.

One of my clearest memories of gravity falls is watching the finale and crying, then switching the channel over to the grammys(?) I think right to Taylor swift singing “out of the woods” and I preceded cried harder on the couch. I don’t think I have listened to that song since
