Genesis chapter 10 "The Table of Nations": mapped to probable locations.
From the New Oxford Annotated Bible 5th edition.
Genesis 10 (NRSVue translation):
These are the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth; children were born to them after the flood.
2 The descendants of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 The descendants of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 The descendants of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.[a] 5 From these the coastland peoples spread. These are the descendants of Japheth[b] in their lands, with their own language, by their families, in their nations.
6 The descendants of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. 7 The descendants of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. 8 Cush became the father of Nimrod; he was the first on earth to become a mighty warrior. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah, and 12 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. 13 Egypt became the father of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim, from whom the Philistines come, and Caphtorim.
15 Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth 16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. 19 And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha. 20 These are the descendants of Ham, by their families, their languages, their lands, and their nations.
21 To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, children were born. 22 The descendants of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23 The descendants of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah, and Shelah became the father of Eber. 25 To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg,[c] for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan. 26 Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the descendants of Joktan. 30 The territory in which they lived extended from Mesha in the direction of Sephar, the hill country of the east. 31 These are the descendants of Shem, by their families, their languages, their lands, and their nations.
32 These are the families of Noah’s sons, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood.

The Generations of the Sons of Noah
1 These are the family records of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They also had sons after the flood.
2 Japheth’s sons: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 Gomer’s sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 And Javan’s sons: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 The coastland peoples spread out into their lands. These are Japheth’s sons by their clans, in their nations. Each group had its own language.
6 Ham’s sons: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. 7 Cush’s sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And Raamah’s sons: Sheba and Dedan.
8 Cush fathered Nimrod, who was the first powerful man on earth. 9 He was a powerful hunter in the sight of the Lord. That is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a powerful hunter in the sight of the Lord.” 10 His kingdom started with Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah, 12 and Resen, between Nineveh and the great city Calah.
13 Mizraim fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (the Philistines came from them), and Caphtorim.
15 Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn, then Heth, 16 the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the Canaanite clans scattered. 19 The Canaanite border went from Sidon going toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and going toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha.
20 These are Ham’s sons, by their clans, according to their languages, in their own lands and their nations.
21 And Shem, Japheth’s older brother, also had sons. Shem was the father of all the sons of Eber. 22 Shem’s sons were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
23 Aram’s sons: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber. 25 Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg, for during his days the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. 26 And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan’s sons. 30 Their settlements extended from Mesha to Sephar, the eastern hill country.
31 These are Shem’s sons by their clans, according to their languages, in their lands and their nations.
32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their family records, in their nations. The nations on earth spread out from these after the flood. — Genesis 10 | Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) Holman Christian Standard Bible ® Copyright © 2003, 2002, 2000, 1999 by Holman Bible Publishers. 6th Portion: Bereshit (Genesis 9:18 - 10:32)
18And the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and Ham he was the father of Canaan.
19These three were the sons of Noah, and from these, the entire earth spread out.
20And Noah began to be a master of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.
21And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and he uncovered himself within his tent.
22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness, and he told his two brothers outside.
23And Shem and Japheth took the garment, and they placed [it] on both of their shoulders, and they walked backwards, and they covered their father's nakedness, and their faces were turned backwards, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.
24And Noah awoke from his wine, and he knew what his small son had done to him.
25And he said, "Cursed be Canaan; he shall be a slave among slaves to his brethren."
26And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them.
27May God expand Japheth, and may He dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them."
28And Noah lived after the Flood, three hundred and fifty years.
29And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

THE BIBLE THE BOOK OF GOD
Genesis 10
10 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
6 And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.
8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.
10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,
12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,
14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.
15 And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth,
16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,
17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.
19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.
21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.
22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
23 And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.
25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.
30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.
31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Genesis 10
01 Now this is the history of the spawn of the male-spawns of Noah and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, which was not a total load of fiction. Male-spawns were born to them after the flood.
02 The male-spawns of Japheth were: Gomer, a goofy mother fucker, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
03 The male-spawns of Gomer were: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
04 The male-spawns of Javan were: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
05 Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.
06 The male-spawns of Ham were: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
07 The male-spawns of Cush were: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The male-spawns of Raamah were: Sheba and Dedan.
08 Cush became the spermer of Nimrod. He began to be a murder-seeker in the pale blue dot.
09 He was a mighty hunter before The Earl. Therefore it is said, “like Nimrod, the dolt, a mighty hunter before The Earl”.
10 The beginning of his wheelhouse was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 Out of that land he went into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,
12 and Resen between Nineveh and the great city Calah.
13 Mizraim became the spermer of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,
14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim.
15 Canaan became the spermer of Sidon (his initial spawn), Heth,
16 the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,
17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,
18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.
19 The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon—as you go toward Gerar—to Gaza—as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim—to Lasha.
20 These are the male-spawns of Ham, after their families, according to their languages, in their lands and their nations.
21 Children were also born to Shem (the old 'un male-sibling of Japheth), the spermer of all the varmints of Eber.
22 The male-spawns of Shem were: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
23 The male-spawns of Aram were: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpachshad became the spermer of Shelah. Shelah became the spermer of Eber.
25 To Eber were born two male-spawns. The name of the one was Peleg, which means “Holy fucking shit!”, for in his days the pale blue dot was divided, and that’s not fictional. His male-sibling’s name was Joktan.
26 Joktan became the spermer of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the male-spawns of Joktan.
30 Their dwelling extended from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.
31 These are the male-spawns of Shem, by their families, according to their languages, lands, and nations.
32 These are the families of the male-spawns of Noah, by their spawn, according to their nations. The nations divided from these in the pale blue dot after the flood because there was only the one nonfictional continent.

Then it becomes a fugitive from his father's tent and gets trapped in the thorns of comprehension where God and the seeds of all great nations are born."

19 Two sons were born to Eber:
One was named Peleg,[g] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

Arphaxad= the boundary with Chesed
Shelah= strength
Eber= crosses over
Reu= friend, associate
Serug=the branch
Nahor=nobleman
Terah= breather, a wanderer
Abram=”The Shield, Their Protection.”
"Immeasurable is God's love to draw us out of the House of Death into Himself. To wander in search of His Voice, the Exalted Snake Charmer, in search of the Self is results in the date palm. [date palms are the mensch].
The Seven Laws are the shrill call of mankind to prostrate before God. Without this, prosperity is not achievable.
In their stead, one crosses over into understanding of the Infinite, becomes a branch of God, a noble, and is a friend and a shield to all who wander."
It is clear from our work in the Tanakh, just as Egypt was a Confederation, a place where power is not conferred legally, Israel is a Federation, a union of good people willing to share each other's ideas and efforts in order to magnify their happiness together.

And the sons of Dishon; Amram, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran. 42 The sons of Ezer; Bilhan, and Zavan, and Jakan. These are the dukes of Edom
What is your favourite verse or verses?
28 The sons of Abraham; Isaac, and Ishmael. 29 These are their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebaioth; then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, 30 Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema,
Explain in your own words what you just read:
The opening verse of the Books of Chronicles indicates something of their focus. We know that Adam and Eve actually had three sons by name (Genesis 4:1-2, 4:25) plus many other unnamed sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). Yet in this first verse we read nothing of Cain or Abel; only of Seth. This indicates that the Chronicler was inspired by God to make a selective genealogy for a specific purpose.
Commitment / what will i do : I will focus historically on King David and his dynasty after him

The Black race is NOT cursed     It was Canaan and his descendants that were cursed. Caanan did not represent all of Ham' s descendants. That is made very clear in the Bible itself. The Descendants of Ham 6-20 Ham's descendants had their own languages, tribes, and land. They were Ethiopia, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. Cush was the ancestor of Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. Raamah was the ancestor of Sheba and Dedan. Cush was also the ancestor of Nimrod, a mighty warrior whose strength came from the Lord. This is why people say: “You hunt like Nimrod with the strength of the Lord!” Nimrod first ruled in Babylon, Erech, and Accad, all of[c] which were in Babylonia.[d] From there Nimrod went to Assyria and built the great city of Nineveh. He also built Rehoboth-Ir and Calah, as well as Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah. Egypt was the ancestor of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, Casluhim, and Caphtorim, the ancestor of the Philistines. Canaan's sons were Sidon and Heth. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanites spread from the territory of Sidon and settled as far away as Gaza in the direction of Gerar. They also went as far as Lasha in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim. Genesis 10:6-20 As clear as it can get.

“ . . . and Arvadite, and Zemarite, and Hamathite. The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. And the sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech. And Arphaxad begat Shelah; which himself engendered Eber. (And Arphaxad begat Shelah; and Shelah begat Eber.) And to Eber were born two sons; the name of the one was Peleg, for the land was parted in his days (for the land was divided in his days); and the name of his brother was Joktan. Genesis - conflict
Noah has 3 sons.
One son named Ham mocks his father.
Noah curses Ham's most fruitful son Canaan.
Canaan is now cursed and all descendants of Canaan.
Canaan basically occupied Israel, the north Sidon, the south Gaza, the east Dead Sea which used to not be so dead.
The Canaanites, who were cursed by Noah, lived at the dead sea, even Sodom and Gomorrah. Which, before God rained fire and brimstone from heaven, the sea was quite beautiful.
Given what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah, the Canaanites were indeed quite cursed.
Canaan's descendants:
Sidon, Heth, the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite, the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, the Arvadite, the Zemarite, the Hamathite
All of these people were apparently very cursed. So a perpetual conflict is added to the story, from Genesis 10 onward.

January 5: Genesis 9–10; Matthew 4:1–11; Psalm 5; Proverbs 2:16–22
Old Testament:
Genesis 9–10
Genesis 9–10 (Listen)
9 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
6   “Whoever sheds the blood of man,     by man shall his blood be shed,   for God made man in his own image.
7 And you,In Hebrew you is plural‘>1 be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
Noah’s Descendants
18 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) 19 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the people of the whole earth were dispersed.Or from these the whole earth was populated‘>2
20 Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.Or Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard‘>3 21 He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent. 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside. 23 Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned backward, and they did not see their father’s nakedness. 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
“Cursed be Canaan;     a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.”
26 He also said,
“Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem;     and let Canaan be his servant. 27   May God enlarge Japheth,Japheth sounds like the Hebrew for enlarge‘>4     and let him dwell in the tents of Shem,     and let Canaan be his servant.”
28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died.
Nations Descended from Noah
10 These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 From these the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his own language, by their clans, in their nations.
6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. 8 Cush fathered Nimrod; he was the first on earth to be a mighty man.Or he began to be a mighty man on the earth‘>5 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.” 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and 12 Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. 13 Egypt fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whomOr from where‘>6 the Philistines came), and Caphtorim.
15 Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth, 16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the clans of the Canaanites dispersed. 19 And the territory of the Canaanites extended from Sidon in the direction of Gerar as far as Gaza, and in the direction of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.
21 To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, children were born. 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. 24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. 25 To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg,Peleg means division‘>7 for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan. 26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. 30 The territory in which they lived extended from Mesha in the direction of Sephar to the hill country of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations.
32 These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood.

The Temptation of Jesus
4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written,
“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,     but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,’
and
“‘On their hands they will bear you up,     lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God     and him only shall you serve.’”
11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

Lead Me in Your Righteousness
To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
5   Give ear to my words, O LORD;     consider my groaning. 2   Give attention to the sound of my cry,     my King and my God,     for to you do I pray. 3   O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice;     in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for youOr I direct my prayer to you‘>1 and watch. 4   For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;     evil may not dwell with you. 5   The boastful shall not stand before your eyes;     you hate all evildoers. 6   You destroy those who speak lies;     the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. 7   But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,     will enter your house.   I will bow down toward your holy temple     in the fear of you. 8   Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness     because of my enemies;     make your way straight before me. 9   For there is no truth in their mouth;     their inmost self is destruction;   their throat is an open grave;     they flatter with their tongue. 10   Make them bear their guilt, O God;     let them fall by their own counsels;   because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,     for they have rebelled against you. 11   But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;     let them ever sing for joy,   and spread your protection over them,     that those who love your name may exult in you. 12   For you bless the righteous, O LORD;     you cover him with favor as with a shield.

16   So you will be delivered from the forbiddenHebrew strange‘>1 woman,     from the adulteressHebrew foreign woman‘>2 with her smooth words, 17   who forsakes the companion of her youth     and forgets the covenant of her God; 18   for her house sinks down to death,     and her paths to the departed;Hebrew to the Rephaim‘>3 19   none who go to her come back,     nor do they regain the paths of life. 20   So you will walk in the way of the good     and keep to the paths of the righteous. 21   For the upright will inhabit the land,     and those with integrity will remain in it, 22   but the wicked will be cut off from the land,     and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.

Book Of Genesis - From The Latin Vulgate - Chapter 10
INTRODUCTION.
The Hebrews now entitle all the Five Books of Moses, from the initial words, which originally were written like one continued word or verse; but the Sept. have preferred to give the titles the most memorable occurrences of each work. On this occasion, the Creation of all things out of nothing, strikes us with peculiar force. We find a refutation of all the heathenish mythology, and of the world's eternity, which Aristotle endeavoured to establish. We behold the short reign of innocence, and the origin of sin and misery, the dispersion of nations, and the providence of God watching over his chosen people, till the death of Joseph, about the year 2369 (Usher) 2399 (Sal. and Tirin) B.C. 1631. We shall witness the same care in the other Books of Scripture, and adore his wisdom and goodness in preserving to himself faithful witnesses, and a true Holy Catholic Church, in all ages, even when the greatest corruption seemed to overspread the land. H.
------------------------------------
This Book is so called from its treating of the Generation, that is, of the Creation and the beginning of the world. The Hebrews call it Bereshith, from the word with which it begins. It contains not only the History of the Creation of the World, but also an account of its progress during the space of 2369 years, that is, until the death of Joseph.
The additional Notes in this Edition of the New Testament will be marked with the letter A. Such as are taken from various Interpreters and Commentators, will be marked as in the Old Testament. B. [18] And the Aradian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite: and afterwards the families of the Chanaanites were spread abroad. et Aradium, Samaraeum, et Amathaeum : et post haec disseminati sunt populi Chananaeorum.
[19] And the limits of Chanaan were from Sidon as one comes to Gerara even to Gaza, until thou enter Sodom and Gomorrha, and Adama, and Seboim even to Lesa. Factique sunt termini Chanaan venientibus a Sidone Geraram usque Gazam, donec ingrediaris Sodomam et Gomorrham, et Adamam, et Seboim usque Lesa.
[20] These are the children of Cham in their kindreds, and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations. Hi sunt filii Cham in cognationibus, et linguis, et generationibus, terrisque et gentibus suis.
[21] Of Sem also, the father of all the children of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born. De Sem quoque nati sunt, patre omnium filiorum Heber, fratre Japheth majore.

[25] And to Heber were born two sons: the name of the one was Phaleg, because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name Jectan. Natique sunt Heber filii duo : nomen uni Phaleg, eo quod in diebus ejus divisa sit terra : et nomen fratris ejus Jectan.
[26] Which Jectan begot Elmodad, and Saleph, and Asarmoth, Jare, Qui Jectan genuit Elmodad, et Saleph, et Asarmoth, Jare,
[27] And Aduram, and Uzal, and Decla, et Aduram, et Uzal, et Decla,

[30] And their dwelling was from Messa as we go on as far as Sephar, a mountain in the east. Et facta est habitatio eorum de Messa pergentibus usque Sephar montem orientalem.
[31] These are the children of Sem according to their kindreds and tongues, and countries in their nations. Isti filii Sem secundum cognationes, et linguas, et regiones in gentibus suis.
[32] These are the families of Noe, according to their peoples and nations. By these were the nations divided on the earth after the flood. Hae familiae Noe juxta populos et nationes suas. Ab his divisae sunt gentes in terra post diluvium.
Commentary:
Ver. 2. Japheth. From his being placed first, some conclude that he was the eldest; and perhaps the famed Japetus of the Greeks is the same person. D. --- Sem comes last, though elder than Cham, that the history of the true Church may be more connected. Though it would be a work of great labour to discover what nations sprung from the people here mentioned, yet some are sufficiently obvious; and the learned Bochart has given very plausible applications of the different names to the respective nations, in his Phaleg. or sacred Geography. Gomer is supposed to be the father of the Cimbri in Germany, from whom the French and English also probably sprung. H. --- Magog, father of the Scythians, &c. Ezec. xxvi. Madai of the Medes, Javan of the Ionians in Greece, Thubal of the Iberians and Spaniards, Mosoch of the Muscovites, Thiras of the Thracians.
Ver. 3. Ascenez father of the Germans, Thogorma father of the Turks. M.
Ver. 5. The islands. So the Hebrews called all the remote countries, to which they went by ships to Judea, as Greece, Italy, Spain, &c. (Ch.) whether they were surrounded with water or not. Jer. xxv. 22. M.
Ver. 9. A stout hunter. Not of beasts, but of men; whom by violence and tyranny he brought under his dominion. And such he was, not only in the opinion of men, but before the Lord; that is, in his sight who cannot be deceived. Ch. --- The Sept. call him a giant; that is, a violent man. According to Josephus, he stirred up men to rebel against the Lord, maintaining that all their happiness must come from themselves, &c. Ant. i. 4. Thus he broached the first heresy after the deluge. W. --- He seems to have been the same as Bel, father of Ninus, and the author of idolatry. M.
Ver. 11. That land, of Sennaar, near the city of Babylon. Assur, or Ninus, who founded the Assyrian empire. M. --- But many understand this of Nemrod, who, in his progress from Babylonia to conquer the world, and oppress the rest of his brethren, came forth into Assyria, as if it were written Assurah; the He signifying motion towards, being often omitted in names of places. See 2 Kings, vi. 10. Bochart. There he built Ninive, on the Tigris. But the exact situation of this vast city is not even known. C. --- And the streets, &c. which were amazingly extensive. Jonas iii. 3. It may also signify the city Rohoboth. Pagnin. --- Chale perhaps of Halah. 4 Kings xvii. 6. on the banks, or near the source of the river Chaboras.
Ver. 12. Resen, perhaps Larissa, here written without the La; as 1 Par. v. 26. Hala has the preposition, and is written Lahela. Bochart. --- This, &c. It is doubtful which of these three cities is meant: but as we know that Ninive was remarkable for size and magnificence, we may suppose this is designated. C. M.
Ver. 19. To Lesa, or Laisa, to the north, on the Jordan, as Sodom was on the southern extremity of that river. Sidon and Gaza were on the Mediterranean sea, north and south; so that these four cities are like four points, determining the extent of the promised land, which, as it was important for the Israelites to know, Moses descends to these particulars in speaking of the Chanaanites.
Ver. 21. Of Heber. That is, of the nations beyond the Euphrates. Hebrews, &c. C. --- The elder brother, fratre Japheth majore, may be rendered as well "Japheth being his elder brother," which, as we have already observed, was probably the case. By mentioning him alone, we may gather that Sem was elder than Cham, who is called the less or younger son. H. --- The Hebrew may be translated either way. But the Chald. Liran. and many excellent interpreters, make Jepheth the eldest. C.
Ver. 24. Begot Sale; either his son, or his grandson, by Cainan. See Luke iii. 36. where we shall examine this question; also C. xi. 12. The copies of the Sept. now extant, all assert that Cainan was the son of Arphaxad, in all the places where they are mentioned, both in Gen. and Chronicles; and though some endeavour to prove that this is an interpolation, inserted by a later hand, it is certain it was found in the Sept. in the days of S. Luke, who confirms it by his authority, as all the copies both Greek and Latin, except a very faulty one which belonged to Beza, and is now at Cambridge, testify. Beza was so bold as to expunge the name. But before we allow of this freedom, we must be informed how S. Luke could adopt such an error, being, as he was, under the guidance of the Holy Ghost! See Salien, &c. H. --- Mariana asserts, that the Hebrew copies have been vitiated.
Ver. 29. Sons of Jectan; though not perhaps all born before the dispersion of nations, which may be said of some others, whom Moses here mentions, that he may not have to interrupt his narration. C.

1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and unto them were sons born after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 Of these were the isles of the nations divided in their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations. 6 And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan. 7 And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabteca; and the sons of Raamah: Sheba, and Dedan. 8 And Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; wherefore it is said: 'Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.' 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and Rehoboth-ir, and Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah--the same is the great city. 13 And Mizraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, 14 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim--whence went forth the Philistines--and Caphtorim. {S} 15 And Canaan begot Zidon his firstborn, and Heth; 16 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite; 17 and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite; 18 and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward were the families of the Canaanite spread abroad. 19 And the border of the Canaanite was from Zidon, as thou goest toward Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest toward Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim, unto Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, in their nations. {S} 21 And unto Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, the elder brother of Japheth, to him also were children born. 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram. 23 And the sons of Aram: Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. 24 And Arpachshad begot Shelah; and Shelah begot Eber. 25 And unto Eber were born two sons; the name of the one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan. 26 And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah; 27 and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah; 28 and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba; 29 and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan. 30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest toward Sephar, unto the mountain of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations. 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations; and of these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. {P}
