#HITS POST AND DIPPS
Note
Tumblr media
I've been so excited and inspired about the bags that I have started making my own little cousin figurines!! My girlfriend saw me making the prince (I thought it would be funny if he was the tallest) she made me June, my favorite! I'm working on Ichigo and Dipp as celebration of hitting first Tier, and hoping to be able to make Marcy soon, fingers crossed!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA what a post to log into, THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
I'm absolutely blown away, the Prince and June look so cute! Thank you for support for the project so far, and I look forward to seeing more of your figurines! I hope you know that I will be sharing this to anyone who even breathes near me.

pairing: mason x f!detective (josie valentine), also bobby is in this
note: after the bakery incident (because I’m still not over it), things are tense and bobby only contributes, a lot of confusion lol, bobby and josie kissed in book 2
Mason didn't like this, he didn't like this at all.
In theory it made sense with Josie's whole 'all for Wayhaven, town spirit' shit but did it really have to involve that stupid fucking reporter?
Even though Josie went on and on about how it was nice of him to promote the blood drive and how him covering it will draw people in, he saw that she wasn't indifferent to the idea of having him there. Something happened, he was sure of it. All he knew was that the two were best friends in college and somehow fell apart. Josie might be an open book but she was particularly stingy with the details whenever he was involved.
Him. The reporter. Bobby.
The same Bobby who was at Josie's apartment that night, the same Bobby he caught her visiting almost every day at the Agency's hospital wing. The same Bobby that keeps harassing her at work, no matter how much she tries to play nice and ignore him. He knew the shit face was getting to her, the way she was playing nervously with the sleeves of her yellow shirt and that worried look on her face were evidence enough of how much she was dreading this meeting, he thought briefly about having a little chat with him. But why should he? Josie could handle it, besides it's not like they were on the best of terms right now — he'd only make everything worse.
Josie still hasn't spoken to him except for a brief 'yes' when asked if she was going to be working late again and a 'no' when he asked if she needed him to walk her back to her car.
Both questions work related, as all their conversations were these past few weeks. But whatever. She'll get over it. Mason didn't care, or that's what he kept telling himself, but that still didn't stop the regret from coiling deep in his stomach.
When Bobby finally arrived he was greeted only by Nate and Felix, with Nate giving him a polite nod and Felix looking between him and Mason as if he's expecting the two to jump on each other any second. Adam simply gave Bobby a curt nod while Mason didn't bother to hide his eye roll. Bobby didn't seem too bothered by it but still stayed at the doorway as if waiting for something, Josie shifted on her feet unsure of what to do. The tension in the room was nearly impenetrable and the quiet was only interrupted by the sound of the station's printer. This meeting couldn't end soon enough.
"Hi." Josie blurted out before snapping out of it "Welcome, thanks for coming."
Bobby simply smiled and with a shrug stepped into the office.
"Well I wouldn't be a good reporter if I didn't cover the town's newest event, would I?" He steps further into the room, his attention completely on Josie.
"Especially when it's hosted by Wayhaven's dearest detective."
Mason almost growls at the sultry tone he lets casually slip in the compliment, Josie's eyes widen briefly before she looks away from him, blushing slightly. Mason frowned — what was up with her? She simply offered Bobby a small tight smile, lifting her shoulders to her chin in something akin a shrug. A tell that Mason knows means she's shying away and wants to shrink but Bobby doesn't miss a thing, his eyes gulping her down, hungry.
"Right. Thank you. Well, we should get started."
Josie busies herself with lifting the files from the table to make room for the blueprint of the event. Once she lays it down, Bobby joins her on the other side of the desk to examine it thouroughly. Josie's yellow shirt, with which she replaced her turtlenecks and pressed shirts once summer started, clashes with Bobby's white one causing Mason to avert his eyes every once in a while. The bright yellow should be even more unbearable to look at but somehow on Josie it didn't bother him that much. Bobby's shirt was also slightly unbuttoned, on purpose Mason assumed, since judging by his reaction earlier he didn't expect Unit Bravo to be there at all. He wanted them to be alone.
Mason smirked. He can forget about it.
After a few moments Bobby whistles. "This is the Mayor's idea."
"Yeah." Josie slightly leans on the desk "Flashy. Colorful. Fun — the brighter it looks, the more people it attracts."
"Sounds about right." he says giving her a conspiratorial smile.
Josie shrugs. "It's the best way to get people interested."
"Yes I know Jo." Bobby rolls his eyes "You don't have to jump to everyone's defense all the time."
Mason didn't know if it was the nickname or the almost irritated tone he used that made Josie uncomfortably shrink again.
"Just get on with what you came here to do." Mason interjects impatiently "No one asked for your opinion."
They both finally look up at Mason and acknowledge that the rest of Unit Bravo are still in the room. Bobby makes to probably sass him back before Josie cuts him off.
"Stay out of this Mason." she orders in a strict tone so unlike her usual gentle one "Bobby was kind enough to help us out with this so you should treat him with respect."
Bobby seems just as surprised as Mason at the outburst before turning towards him with a smug smirk.
"Yeah Specialist Agent Mason." he almost spits out the title "Show me some respect."
He simply crosses his arms, stifling the urge to grab him by the collar and teach him some 'respect'. Felix throws him a worried frown but he shrugs it off, he wants a smoke but he doesn't want to leave.
Choosing to move on from the conflict, Josie and Bobby agree to get started with crafting the article. Mason watched with interest as Josie took initiative, listening attentively to everything Bobby suggested and making her opinions strongly known when needed. The change in Josie's confidence didn't go unnoticed by the rest of the team who seemed really proud of how far she'd come since their first meeting. And Mason was glad, he couldn't help the small tinge of pride that lingered in his chest at seeing Josie be more sure of herself.
She was a great detective, Mason never doubted that and it was time for her not to doubt it too.
His senses haven't been acting up again, not with Josie's presence there to soothe them, but something was begining to set him off. A strong aroma, as he focuses on finding the source it immediately draws him to Bobby. Overwhelming. His face scrunched up when the scent finally hit his nostrils — juniper, Josie's favorite. Does he really think he's being subtle? Though he doubts subtle is really Bobby's forte.
He's onto the bastard and what's he's trying to do. It won't work, Josie's too smart for that. But as more time passes, the more unsure Mason becomes.
The two work in sinc, dancing around each other in a familiar routine that they only know the steps to. It's like they've done this a thousand times before and Mason briefly acknowledges that they probably have. The way they communicate through glances, the way they finish each other's sentences knowing what the other is going to say before they actually say it. It reminds him of Nate and Adam and he wants to extinguish that connection, they're nothing like Nate and Adam.
He's a bastard and she's—
She's Josie, she's Josie and he can't imagine how they could've ever been friends.
"Are they going to serve food there as well?"
"I guess, since there will be a lot of festivities."
Bobby hums in agreement before sliding his glance briefly over at Mason. He smirks again as if he's suddenly remembered something.
"They better not serve strawberry ice cream though, right Jo?"
Josie looks mildly panicked glancing from him to the team as if they're supposed to know what that means.
"Bobby you promised!" Josie pouts slightly but he can see it's more out of amusement than being upset. They both share a smile from across the table and Mason's sick again. He's throwing it in his face, isn't he? The fact that they have secrets, memories... something that her and Mason don't. Whatever. He doesn't care who she has memories with, he'll win her over soon enough.
Josie joins Bobby's side of the table as they both lean over the blueprint. Mason doesn't miss how Bobby's eyes never leave Josie's face as she talks, too engrossed in the blueprint to notice. He couldn't quite make out the look on the reporter's face and it irked him. Josie was pretty to look at, there was no doubt about it, but it wasn't just that. There was something else there; dialated pupils, fondness...
He's not staying for this bullshit anymore. Josie briefly looks up at the sound of him leaving the chair. He doesn't care — he's not thinking about this anymore. He's not thinking about the fact his hand is only inches away from hers and he's definitely not thinking about the fact that she's starting to forget herself too, leaning into him slightly, their shoulders touching.
"This is taking too long, I need a smoke."
He doesn't look back. He doesn't notice Josie watching him leave.
-
Josie offers a final smile to Nate as she closes the door to her office. She didn't know what exactly encouraged her to walk Bobby out, maybe it was because she wanted to thank him again or maybe it was because she wanted to make sure that everything was right between them. She had her reasons, there was no doubt about it. She prayed for weeks that he wouldn't remember the kiss they shared in her apartment. She wouldn't know what to do if he did. And so far, he hadn't mentioned a thing, so he must've really forgotten everything that had happened.
The meeting felt familiar. And it was familiar, so familiar that if she closed her eyes and let herself drift away, she could pretend that this was a college project. That they were partners, friends, best friends...
She bit her tongue.
"Thank you, again, for doing this."
'I couldn't have done this without you' she almost says, like she did before. But she learned that she could do it without him.
"No problem." he said giving her a friendly smile "I would've stopped by anyway."
Why? , she wants to ask immediately. But she knows why.
User.
"Oh." she simply states and finds herself avoiding eye contact. A small part of her was still scared that one moment he'll snap out of it and remember what happened.
The kiss had remained her own filthy little secret. She didn't tell anyone, not Tina, not Rebecca, not anyone. She was filled with such shame, how could she have been so weak?
What was she thinking? That he actually cared? She had finally stopped returning his calls, stopped turning around when he'd try and talk to her. Stopped treating him as a treasured person in her life that he once was. He decided to stop being that. Her best friend. It was his choice.
So she doesn't believe him when he says he misses what they had because what they had was so easy to throw away for a stupid article. An article that made sure she couldn't show up to campus anymore. Her nails dug into her palms. That was the thing with Bobby, he managed to bring out the worst in her, the worst that Josie desperately tries to keep inside.
"I had a weird dream about you, you know." his voice brings her out of it and she doesn't avert her eyes this time. The way his mouth shaped around the word 'weird' filled her with dread.
"What?"
"It felt so real." he utters somewhat to himself, his eyes laying solely on her lips. Breathing heavily, she reflexively took a step back but stopped the urge to run and lock herself in her office.
"People dream about all sorts of things. You shouldn't worry about it." her words are half-rushed, her tone is all skewed and she all but freezes when his eyes meet hers with intent focus. As he examines her face, she's almost sure he'll give her that content smirk, the one he uses when he knows he's won, and call her out on her bluff. But he doesn't.
Instead he simply looks away for a second and shrugs, visibly snapping out of it. She makes an effort not to let her relief show.
"Yeah, you're probably right. See you around Jo."
She doesn't trust herself to respond, after all, she'd never been a good liar.
And how can she respond when she can still feel his kiss on her lips?

DiceJar Campaign 0.1: A Slippery Slope (2020/01/03)
So I return to the mighty throne of the GM Screen! To pull the strings, interpret the weavings of fate, mold the world to my whims and desires!
However, I’m going from a module, namely Crypt of the Everflame, made famous by Trix’s adventures. So I’m treading old ground, though with fewer players, and only one returning from that adventure. The better part of a decade has passed since I played it, so plenty of details should’ve left the veterans.
The reason I’m playing out of the module is as a sort of learning experience: Viewing box text and published adventure design so that it may help develop my original adventures. As for why I chose this one: I really like the opening premise. New young adventures thrown together deliberately for their origin story. Often players get focused on making an exciting backstory that they forget to make what happens at the table be the most interesting part of their life. I think it’s charming.
It’s an element/theme I want to incorporate in future campaigns.
Anyways, how will the tomb dive go without Team Pesto?
Cast
Mogui (IndigoDie): A Hedge Mage for a Lord Grey. Essentially a living lawn ornament. He helps take care of the Lord’s menagerie. Sole repeat player of the Module.
Bernard ‘Bean’ Dipp (NavyDie): Still just a child, but his father is (supposedly) suffering polio, so young Bean needs to become the man of the house. GM of the campaign I just finished. Revenge time?
Yot (LimeDie): A traveling mercenary slash adventurer nevertheless being pulled into things because some players struggle with direction. Player is a vetran of an Improv club Navy and I were also members of.
Delilah Dunford (VermilionDie): The unruly daughter of the local snobby nobles. Roguish interests and talents. Player is also from my high school days, but not the High School game group.
Game Master (SepiaDie/Me): Everyone and thing else. Nervous wreck caught in his own head. Attended a High School once and participated in a college Improv Club.
Session One
I failed to change any proper nouns like I wanted, but I also avoided needing to say anyone’s names, so there’s still time.
There’s an immense backstory I summarized, because it was too long for me to read out and I can’t trust players to read.[1] Kassen is a town that evolved out of a hold built by a guy named Kassen, a soldier turned adventurer. One day, he went to fight an evil band of… bad people. Kassen succeeded, but succumbed to injuries taken. He was entombed in a crypt, where an eternal flame was lit. Every year, the mayor rides out to bring back a lantern lit by the flame to bless the town to survive the winter. Every couple of years, town youths are sent instead as a rite of passage.
This is one of the rite of passage years.
The mayor first meets with Mogui, a lonely mage working for one of the town’s two noble families. The mayor awkwardly stumbles through his invitation, which Mogui gladly accepts.
Next, the Mayor finds Bean waiting in the market square. The mayor, again, stumbles through his invitation, which Bean seems rather confused by the semantics of, needing to be specifically told not to just wait in the town center for two days but to come back on the actual day of departure.
Yot is found in a tavern, and attempts to talk a big game as the Mayor asks him to join the adventuring party. I still need to force a firmer connection between Yot and the town of Kassen, as my original plan of Yot belonging to what once was Kassen’s band of mercenaries was sunk before I could work it in.
Delilah pops up from behind the Mayor as he’s on his way to her family’s manor, and she eagerly joins the quest.[2]
Thus is our party arranged!
Two days later, at the predetermined time, they walk into the market square and I gently prompt them to give physical descriptions of their characters. Delilah is described as having slightly asymmetrical dark hair, while the rest focused more on height and relative ages.[4]
Mogui arrives with some sort of bipedal creature. Indigo didn’t actually know what he intended the creature to be, so I’m going to assume it’s a chocobo until gently corrected.[5] Everyone promptly forgot about it, even though it supposedly was following them.
The four mingle for a bit as I lost focus trying to recenter myself and review the next step. I tend to let my players just fill time until they get bored of their scene. I probably should work on keeping a good pace with the plot, but I also don’t want to step on their fun. It’s a difficult balance, especially if there’s no NPC handy to gently snark at them to move forward.
The bells of the Church of Polyhymnia[6] ring in the noontime.
The townspeople, dressed in blacks and other dark clothing, start to form a crowd around our adventurers. The mayor emerges with an old pony pulling a cart of supplies. He distributes backpacks to the adventurers, gives a prepared speech,[8] and sends our young heroes on their way.
Mixed into their supplies is a fourth of a map that, at an actual table, is supposed to be a real piece of paper torn and distributed to the players. Since we’re not in the same room and split between two states, I instead alluded to the paper in their bag for them to ask about, while also prepared to gently drop the detail if the players don’t engage. Pivot and roll!
Initially the torn map pieces are overlooked, and the party walks south, into the Fangwoods, following a trail that starts well-worn, but progressively fades.
A few hours into their hike, they come upon a fallen tree. Three orcs emerge from behind it, and initiative is rolled.
I overlooked a mechanic I was supposed to employ, a problem I had throughout the session. The module imbedded vital instructions mid-paragraph in the description, which means I overlooked having the players roll to disbelieve when they land hits or are hit. I did read the module in advance, though, but it’s easy to forget the details, especially details hidden away like that.
I’m a terrible note taker. In school, if I was taking notes, then I wasn’t paying attention to the lesson because I was focused on writing. This also made me a terrible stage manager. Half the reason behind these write-ups is to get the information down and in circulation in my memory because I’m not able to mid-session.
What I should be doing is reading (or writing) the module, and making a bullet point list of the bare mechanics. I sometimes do similar when trying to learn new systems.[9]
Delilah climbs into a tree to shoot arrows at one of the three Orcs, the other three taking the ground battle.
The orcs are quickly defeated, their corpses fading away. What a curious event that I’m sure has no explanation to be uncovered in the future. An utter curiosity.
At this point, the party finally pauses to ask if they know where they’re going.
Ah, time for pay off.
At this point, I describe how they’d been following a shrinking trail, but soon they won’t have it to rely on.
I’m asked to post the list of supplies to the text chat for them to pour over. A careful edit of the description of the map is needed, and I do so.
The party discusses the supplies shortly, and someone looks at their part of the map. I tell them it appears to be a fourth of a map.
NavyDie shrewdly asks if they’re all the same fourth of a map. He likely learned from the time I gave my players descriptions of dreams then later threw some wood blocks at them not to take paper for granted.[10]
I confirm that they each have a different fourth of the same map. So they jigsaw puzzle it, and Mending is cast. Now they have a single map, and a burned spell slot![12]
They follow their map for the remainder of the day. The sun began to set, and the party needed to make camp.
When the opportunity arises, players will want to roll dice, because rolling dice feels good,. So everyone rolled for the survival check meant for one.
Bean, our ranger, was the only one who failed. I punished him by having him punch a hole in his tent. Everyone goes to bed, though Yot elects to take watch for a few hours, with no intention of waking anyone to take a shift after him. He chose enough time, and made the proper check, to spot a wolf investigating the border of the campsite before slinking off.
Yot decides to increase the length of his watch a little longer. So he was still awake when the wolf returned with three friends.
New combat! Yot shouts to rouse his allies, succeeding in waking Bean and Mogui, who come out of their tents to assist. No one thinks to go wake up Delilah, so she gets to sit out of this combat.
A few rounds occur, with the lead wolf eventually knocking Yot down and mauling him a tad. Mogui uses magic to scare off the other two, but lead wolf stays intent on his objective:[13] food.
The wolf makes his way into the camp, takes a mouthful of food, and skedaddles. I declare the end of combat. Bean buries the remainder of the food,[14] and everyone goes back to sleep.
With the morning arrival, and the completion of a long rest, the journey to Kassen’s Crypt continues.
The map leads them to the shore of a large lake on a misty morning, the grey skies and fog obscuring the horizon. A bandit lays dead on the beach. Our protagonists investigate the body, and find signs of an attack by a massive serpent. The body also has a sword and a wallet of gold on him, but they are left as the body is entombed into a shallow, sandy grave.
Travel continues, and they crest a small hill overlooking a serpentine valley, within which rests Kassen’s Tomb.
This then proceeds into my second big mistake: I overlooked the acrobatics check hidden with the descriptions and had my players roll directly on the failure table. Again, the table carefully set apart drew my eye. I’m learning! Poorly!
Still, someone ran into three different trees on the way down, so at least it was amusing, if unnecessarily punishing. I’ll quietly retcon away any damage taken in apology at start of next session.
Down the overly slippery hill, a small stable’s worth of dead mounts await: two horses and three ponies, the horses long dead, the ponies a little more recent. None the same day our party arrived, however.
A description of a fancy rune in the doorway’s keystone is given, and the session ends, exploration of the dungeon saved for the next session a fortnight later.
As usual, the session was characterized with me being stressed over keeping it running and attempting to follow the script of the module. The few times I’ve managed successive sessions has hinted that I’m able to settle in as things go on and the players figure out the table dynamic. I’m mostly confident I’ll figure it out.
While I am learning the value of boxtexts,[15] modules still invoke a sense of containment on me. A fear that if I, as a GM, stray too far, I’ll accidentally break something. I don’t enjoy scripts, that’s why I did improv. Scripts means you can make mistakes that need course correction.
But I’m playing with friends, we’re learning to be a cohesive performance troupe, and hopefully this will turn into a podcast. For the future.
Until next time, may your dice make things interesting.
-
[1] I’ll grant them the benefit of the doubt that they’re literate. [2] I’m seeing a combined Trix and the Sorceress[3] from her party. I’m going to have fun with that. [3] Indigo says her name was Makenna. [4] Which will make the process of creating sprite pawns for them slightly more difficult. I’ll ask them on the discord for physical appearances when I’m done writing this. [5] Were it not bipedal, I might’ve steered him into making it into a riding jackalope. They’re… kinda my pet fantastic beast. Usually ridden by mail carriers. [6] Originally the Church of a Pathfinder Deity, but I’m transplanting the module into D&D Fifth Edition anyways, so might as well sneak the details of my setting[7] into the margins. Helps everyone’s already just human. [7] Is this canon with the abandoned Genesys campaign? You decide! [8] When I have something to read, the mayor loses the stammering and uncertainty he has when I’m doing it off the cuff. This is because I’m not awkwardly trying to do things off the cuff. [9] I should have a file that’s basically Maid RPG Lite floating around due this same habit. [10] The one time I planned for my players to ‘cheat’ and show each other the notes I gave them, and the clowns kept the notes to themselves. You literally cannot rely on anyone to do anything like they should.[11] [11] I’d say you can trust players to make things harder for themselves, but return to footnote 10. [12] When I played through this module, I arrived after the mayor distributed the backpacks, and the party already had investigated their maps. So I don’t know how this puzzle was solved then. I also don’t remember the Orc encounter. [13] Behind the screen fun: while I rolled three times fairly, I applied the single success to who I wanted. For narrative reasons. I often play favorites in this manner. [14] Sure. [15] Along with listening to Dice Friends streams/podcast.

amemenojaku's wishlist
WISHES: Art or fanfiction would be amazing!
If you’re up for it, I’d love to see some character interaction – platonic or romantic. My favourite pairs right now are Seija/Shinmyoumaru, Akyuu/Kosuzu, Yachie/Saki, and the two girls from DiPP (Jacketko & Labelko). If you prefer to work on a single character, Shinmyoumaru is the light of my life :] She could be going on an adventure, enjoying winter, eating tasty food, being cool, etc...
I’ll love pretty much anything that isn’t mean-spirited! But if you need some inspiration: characters and their hobbies, a couple sharing a scarf or an umbrella, peaceful nature scenes, mythology, bittersweet stories, outfit redesigns... I like fluff just as much as serious/darker works!
PET PEEVES: Please don’t infantilize any of the characters I listed. Also I'd prefer not to read comedy-driven stories since they're very hit-or-miss to me...
ABILITIES: Art™ – I mostly draw illustrations but I can also do short comics and simple little animations.
WON’T DO: No Kaguya/Mokou or Remilia please, but that’s all.
VOLUNTARY SANTA: Don't have the time sadly.
POST-SCRIPTUM: Good luck everyone! And thank you in advance to my santa…!

India holds a prominent position in the global education industry. With more than 800 universities and 40,000 colleges, the country boasts of having one of the largest networks of higher education institutions in the world, with a large and growing population to cater to. To address the education requirements, India has followed a student-centric system of education, which has enhanced its learning outcomes manifold.
Drawing investments from both the government as well as the private sector, the Indian education sector has seen a major uptrend in the number of schools and colleges. The number of agricultural universities has also increased by 40 and surged to 75 in 2017.
As per the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), the total amount of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) inflow into India’s education sector stood at $ 1.67 billion from April 2000 to December 2017.
With more than 70 million students getting enrolled in less than two decades, the Indian education system has established itself as the leader in this space. It has also managed to create an additional capacity for over 40 million students. Surging with the same pace, the industry is expected to reach $ 35.03 billion in the upcoming years.
In addition to the growth of conventional education, India has also emerged as the second largest market for e-learning after the US. It spans over a network of more than 1 million schools and 18,000 higher education institutions. The market is estimated to witness approximately 8x growth in the next 5 years. This is sure to have a major impact on the country’s ed-tech market, which has a potential to hit $1.96 billion by 2021, with more than 9 million users.
A lot has changed over the last few decades wherein several domestic and international players have made their presence felt in the edtech industry.
Ventures like Educomp Solutions by Shantanu Prakash, Three Rivers Systems by Amir Tajkarimi, Adobe Systems by Shantanu Narayen have been instrumental in expanding the horizons of India’s e-learning segment significantly.
The growth of edtech could be attributed to Educomp Solutions, back in early 90s when it leveraged the benefits of technology in education, and launched its flagship ‘Smartclass’, a digital content library of curriculum-mapped, multimedia content in 2004.
At present, it has reached more than 12,000 schools across 560 districts in India. The company also has a striking success rate growing with almost 20 schools a day. The precedence of schools accepting technology to teach their students has further created a scope for app-based methodologies in the market where market players such as BYJUs are creating an impetus for schools and students to follow suit.
With students and educators embracing the convenience, expediency, and agility offered by technology-led learning, it has garnered large-scale acceptance across the country. This has further given birth to a number of ventures propounding online education.
However, despite the progress, there still lies a lot of scope for further development in the country’s education system. The government looks forward to increase its present Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) to 30 per cent by 2020. This will further promote distance education in the country.
Furthermore, the adoption of online modes of education by a number of educational organisations will also entail a series of change and developments in the years to come.

5 moments that defined the sloppy Broncos vs. Chiefs ‘Monday Night Football’ game
This one wasn’t pretty for either team, but the Chiefs did enough to gain some breathing room in the AFC West.
The Broncos traveled to Kansas City with hopes of gaining ground on the Chiefs in the AFC West, and left unsuccessful in a 29-19 loss.
The game was sloppy. The Broncos had a rough night on offense, with Trevor Siemian going 5-of-14 with 56 yards and two interceptions in the first half. The second half wasn’t a whole lot better, with the Broncos finishing the night with five turnovers.
The Broncos’ defense did a good job of keeping them in the game, with the Broncos down just 20-13 late in the third and early in the fourth quarter. Kareem Hunt was kept in check, and the Chiefs had two turnovers, after having none since the first play of their season.
But the Chiefs did enough to get themselves the 29-19 win, and gain more ground in the AFC West at 6-2, with the Broncos their closest competitor at 3-4.
Here are the moments that defined the sloppy game we saw on Monday night.
Jamaal Charles fumbled his 3rd carry back in Kansas City
Charles spent his first nine seasons in Kansas City, and brought the Chiefs plenty of joy with his explosive play.
He’s spent the 2017 season in Denver, where he isn’t quite the same player as a 30-year-old back. In his return to his old home, he fumbled the ball on his third carry, and Marcus Peters took it back for the game’s first touchdown.
The play happened in the first minute and 20 seconds of the game, which was obviously a great way to get the always-rowdy Arrowhead Stadium crowd even more pumped up.
Tyreek Hill threw the Chiefs’ first INT of the year
Alex Smith has been extra careful with the football this season. We know he loves to hit those check downs and throw 5-yard passes, but the Chiefs offense has been explosive this season while somehow protecting the football.
In the red zone in the first quarter, that changed when Smith pitched the ball to Tyreek Hill, who threw an interception that was an easy grab for the Denver defense.
That play was the first Chiefs turnover since the first play of the entire season. That one was Kareem Hunt’s very first NFL carry.
But as time has shown, things have worked out for Hunt and the Kansas City offense. Monday night, though, they had their hiccups. Smith would later fumble the ball in the game.
Trevor Siemian had a terrible first half
Siemian looked plain bad for most of the game, but his first half was particularly bad. Siemian went 5-of-14 in the half with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had just 56 yards passing.
At the end of the half, ESPN’s Lisa Salters reported that Vance Joseph didn’t plan to replace him at quarterback, reiterating what he said earlier in the week.
“He can’t play well if he’s not being protected,” Joseph said via the Washington Post. “Now, he hasn’t been perfect, either. He can play better, absolutely. But it’s not a Trevor problem; it’s a unit problem.”
But this fourth-quarter interception by Siemian was just plain bad:
It’s going to become increasingly more difficult to defend Siemian if he’s going to throw interceptions like that one.
Sergio Dipp flipped on Vance Joseph
Dipp became famous after being the sideline reporter in the Monday night opener between the Chargers and Broncos in Denver.
In one of his segments, he said that Vance Joseph was “having the time of his life.” On this particular Monday night, Dipp flipped on him:
Update: Head Coach Vance Joseph isn't having the time of his life anymore. http://pic.twitter.com/f4vLBfirxC
— Sergio Dipp (@SergioADippW) October 31, 2017
At that point in the game, it was honestly real analysis by Dipp. The Broncos looked like an incredible mess, but their defense kept them in the game where it actually looked like a contest late in the third quarter at 20-13.
Travis Kelce’s old celebration
You can always count on Kelce to bring some fun to a game he’s playing in. Tonight, he brought back the “reject,” more widely known as the “jerk” because of the New Boyz’s 2009 hit “You’re a Jerk”:
It wasn’t very smooth, but the guy’s wearing cleats. We’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, and just enjoy the celebration and appreciate him bringing it back into our lives.
