I read the third book, King of Attolia
I'll say that the political stuff in it was VERY confusing and at this point I'm only reading it for the insane quality of the tender moments because they slap harrrd
(spoilers ahead)
The reveal of the King & Queen's love was magical
The way he had ways to end up in her bed despite the court knowing
The way he showed up there after the assassination attempt.
The way the softness after his ordeal is described
But the moment that gets me the most - that I don't see being talked about - is even before all that, in the garden, as it happens, and Costis looks at the King in his beautiful golden robe next to the fountain sparkling in the sunlight that probably has a cheesy figurine on top of it - and he smiles, pressing his hand to his side, and anyone with eyes in their head can see that he's sustained an injury, everyone except Costis my stupid lovable marionette guard lieutenant person
And then that LOOK that he shares with the King and REALIZES
That the King is the KING
Yeah, that.
