Former member of the British boy band One Direction, Louis Tomlinson will perform, in May, three shows in Brazil. It will be the third time that the musician will perform in the country, an experience that, according to him, is always chaotic - and "in the best possible sense". This is what the singer said to g1, in an interview held at Allianz Parque, where he will play in São Paulo, on May 11.
The shows are from the "Faith in the Future" tour, in which Louis returns to his latest album, released in 2022. The setlist also involves songs from the album "Walls" and, of course, One Direction hits.
Fever among children and adolescents in the 2010s, the pop group was formed from the TV show "The X Factor" and lasted six years, breaking up in 2016. Since then, the musicians have followed a solo career. A fact that, in Louis' eyes, is inevitably competitive.
"Your only reference is to compare yourself with the other members," said the Englishman. "You start to think, 'If they're getting this, why am I not getting it?'"
On Spotify, the number of monthly listeners among artists differs a lot. The most popular star of the divorced boy band, Harry Styles has about 58.2 million. Next are Zayn Malik (27.3 million), Niall Horan (17.3 million), Liam Payne (5.7 million) and Louis (2.9 million).
But if success meters like this were once a burden for the musician, today they are no longer, according to him, who also made a point of reiterating that he has always been proud of his friends.
In the interview, the musician also commented on subjects such as the conspiracy theories that describe him as a partner of Styles, the changes of concept between his albums, a Brazilian remix of his "Kill My Mind" - from the funkeiro FP of Trem Bala -, and his interest in fashion
g1 - What is the main difference between the Louis Tomlinson of the X Factor, 2010 and the Louis Tomlinson of today?
Louis Tomlinson - There is a lot of naivete in the boy who appeared in the X Factor. I really didn't know what I was getting into. I didn't know how that would put me sitting here. I definitely had no idea what I was acquiring.
I think I feel much more fulfilled. More confident. It took me a while to have enough courage to say: 'I'm creative, I'm a singer, I'm a composer
Now, I'm just internalizing all these feelings. When you grow up in a place like Doncaster, where I grew up, it takes a while to believe in all these things. Because you only watched it from afar, on TV or on the radio. So, when you become one of these people, there is a whole process until you believe and understand everything.
g1 - And what is the greatest similarity?
Louis Tomlinson - Probably my appearance (laughs). Well, I hope my fans don't correct me here. I like to think that I've always had a very lovely relationship with them. I think that's the only constant thing.
g1 - Do you know any Brazilian singer or band?
Louis Tomlinson - We were talking today about Anitta. And hm... Fresh? Fre? Fresno? I'm learning. I hope [the confusion with the band's name] didn't sound disrespectful, it wasn't my intention.
Do you have any recommendations for me? I got some tips today. What do you have for me?
g1 - There is a Brazilian musician called FP do Trem Bala. He made a remix of 'Kill My Mind'...

g1 - This is your third time in Brazil. What comes to your mind when you hear things like 'doing a show in Brazil', 'Brazilian tour', or simply 'Brazilian fans'?
Louis Tomlinson - Chaos. And in the best possible sense. I totally love it.
Live experiences are defined by the most chaotic moments. And coming here and always feeling this energy is as if from the first drum beat, the fans were already there. It's a really triumphant feeling.
g1 - In musical terms, how was the experience of creating 'Faith in the Future' compared to 'Walls'?
Louis Tomlinson - I felt much more fulfilled, confident. I had more understanding of what I wanted to do and how to do it.
[On the first album], there was the factor that I left One Direction. It was as if my head was a mess and there was so much to think about... It didn't have a clear direction. I had to go through the experimentation phase to, in fact, understand who I am as an artist. That took time.
Throughout my creation of 'Walls', this was happening, but I was in a clearer, more concise place going to 'Faith in the Future'. And I think that made [the second] album better.
g1 - Recently, you created 28 Clothing, a fashion brand. What is your relationship with this sector?
Louis Tomlinson - I've always had a very funny relationship with fashion. Without a doubt, I'm interested in clothes, I've always been. Since I was young. But there is a level of haute couture that goes far beyond my understanding.
You know, I like to dress well. The brand is something I've always wanted to do. It is also intertwined with one of my [greatest] passions, football.
Football and fashion have been connected since the game was a game. People's fashion in the stands and everything else...
I think it's a very interesting thing and, for sure, a culture in which I was already inserted when I was younger. So, the brand helps me tell my story.
g1 - You once mentioned that you felt a little uncomfortable and more competitive at the beginning of your solo career. You said you were a little upset because you kept comparing your level of success with that of the other members of One Direction. Do you still feel that way?
Louis Tomlinson - No, I don't feel like it. Really. But I think that anyone - and obviously, there won't be many people who can identify with it - but anyone who has gone through a similar situation...
Being in a band and leaving on your own will always make your only reference be to compare yourself with other members. That's literally all you have.
I think it's a matter of maturity, actually. It took me a long time to look at it for what it was. Because that's where petulance begins. You start to think: 'If they're getting this, why can't I do it?'. And that becomes a little toxic.
Unfortunately, this is the nature of the music industry. It is naturally competitive. We are all competing for spots.
But now I see it in a very different way. And as I said, this requires maturity. I also needed to succeed on my own to be able to get through this. To overcome this.
Now, this comes back as I feel a confidence in saying these things.
Oh, and just to reiterate, because it's important: while I felt competitive, or more competitive than I am today, it wasn't like I wasn't immensely proud of everything the boys were doing.
It was more about reflecting on my own situation. Just about thinking: 'Oh, I wish I had a little of that'.
Now, I feel in a very, very, different place. And it's a nicer thing to feel, because being very competitive isn’t always the nicest feeling.
g1 - I imagine you hear questions like this all the time, right? Does it bother you?
Louis Tomlinson - Yes, it's okay. As I mentioned before, I understand the obvious public interest in One Direction. That's obvious. And you know, I appreciate that these things are interesting. I suppose [that they are].
g1 - Louis, many fans believe in the conspiracy theory that you’re dating Harry Styles, even though you describe this story as ridiculous. Why is this conspiracy so famous?
Louis Tomlinson - What I realized a few years ago is that there is nothing I can say, there is nothing I can do to stop those who believe in this conspiracy. They are so connected with what they believe they will not see the truth for what it actually is. I'm sure many people look and find all these little conspiracies that happen in life interesting.
I would be lying if I said it doesn't annoy me a little, but it's the nature of the work.
There are times when it gets very personal. I have my son, Freddie. He's the most important person in my life. And occasionally, [these theories] end up addressing things that are kind of unfair.
That's what we have now. There's nothing I can do about it. Nothing I can say to stop people from inventing what they want to invent. So, so be it.
g1 - Finally, what is your favorite song at the moment and why?
Louis Tomlinson - My favorite album is Paolo Nutini's last. It's great, amazing. He's an amazing singer, maybe he's my favorite singer. It's indeed an inspiring album.
And favorite music... I can't remember the name, but it's from The Libertines, a band I've liked since I was young.

“Where is he?” I pace back and forth in my hotel room. Alex was supposed to be here 3 hours ago. Every time I call him it goes to voicemail
“Maybe he’s stuck in traffic and his phone died” Liam tries to calm me down
“It’s a 20 minute drive from the airport and I’ve had a look to see if there’s traffic on the road and there is none
“Call Emma see if she’s heard off him” Zayn suggests
“I have and it went to voicemail. Fuck what’s going on?”
“Maybe the flights been delayed. That could be why” Louis says
“Ok” Harry stays up. He walks over to me and places his hands on my shoulders, he then moves to the sofa in my room and gets me to sit down “breathe. I’ll go and ask Paul if he’s heard anything, if not he will find out what’s going on ok. For now you need to stay as calm as you can”
“Ok” I breathe out. I watch Harry leave my hotel room with his phone in his hand. Niall and Louis come and sit on either side of me
“Let’s take your mind off things for now. Let’s stick on a film” Zayn says walking over to the TV
“Disney?” I ask with raised eyebrows
“Sure” he gives me a smile.
An hour later and I still haven’t heard anything, Harry returned with Paul who’s been making phone calls, but nothing. Suddenly I jump to the sound of my phone ringing. I move quickly off the sofa and grab my phone, Emma is phoning me
“Em, have you heard anything?” I ask not even saying hello
“Oh god YN I’m so sorry” Emma cries down the phone. My heart immediately drops to my stomach which starts to churn
“Em what’s happened?” I say my voice shaking “why are you crying?” the boys are immediately up and by my side
“I didn’t want to be the one to say this, I’m so sorry YN” again she cries “your dads on his way to you”
“Emma please tell me where Alex is your scaring me”
“He was on his way to the airport, but he….” she takes in a deep breath “there was a drunk driver”
“Oh god” tears start to form in my eyes “is he ok? what hospital is he at. I’ll pack up my shit and….”
“YN he… he didn’t make it. I’m sorry YN Alex was… they said it was immediately…. I’m so sorry he’s gone” it’s like the room is shrinking in on me. My ears are ringing, my phone drops out of my hand. Emma’s words swimming round in my head “he’s gone”. He can’t be this has to be some sick joke, or a dream… yes a dream that I’ll wake up from any minute. I feel a hand on my shoulder, Harry. He looks at me with worry in his eyes
“YN?” it’s like his voice is a million miles away, just barely a whisper “YN what’s going on?” the ringing starts to fade. I can feel my breakfast rising
“Im gonna be sick” is all I can say pushing Harry away and running to my bathroom. I throw up everything in my stomach into the toilet bowl. Tears stream down my face. Niall walks in a crouch’s down next to me while the others stand at the doorway
“YN?, tell us what’s happened”
“Alex isn’t coming” I choke out
“Has he broken up with you or cheated? Because if he has….”
“Harry, not helping” Liam nudges Harry. I shake my head no
“He’s gone. He was killed in a car accident”
“Oh god” Niall wraps me up in his arms and the others come into the bathroom as well all sitting down. They let me sit and cry until there’s no tears left in my body.
Niall and Zayn help me off the floor and lead me to the sofa. I lay on Harry’s lap crying while he strokes my hair. No one knows what to say so we all stay quiet, letting me greave.

This may be an interesting take on the train scene but do you think it's Louis seeing what he wants to see? Because sometimes we can see that Louis speaks "for" Claudia in particularly OOC ways, especially when he discusses her "getting used to the killing" when her diary says "you suck 'em like frog legs and burn 'em like trash"
Maybe there was a part of him that wanted to see Claudia as something to protect, even if he wasn't aware of it himself in his retelling to Daniel??? Idk, just theorizing
Well, I mean, as said before: there is no diary to underline the scene, so what Louis tells is his interpretation of whatever information he got from Claudia.
So yes, that is of course colored by his need to see her in a certain light, by the experiences of them all together, and by the way his memory makes some things seem... (as we know all will be revisited it is good to remember that Louis himself might not know all of it yet, has either suppressed it or it has been suppressed for him).
He calls Claudia his redemption, and she is his daughter. And he mourns her, deeply. Of course he would remember her in that light, and obviously wishes to protect her (as the torn out diary pages prove, something that is discussed in the show).
In Dubai, just as in NOLA, he does not want to admit to some of what she does. The killing sprees, the "souvenirs". The hurtful words for both her guardians.
But that is very human I think, you want to remember the good times.
Of course, in the case of the show... there is much more to it.

Bad Ideas for Second Dates
A fic about Rocky, his girlfriend (who was created by @ladybugkisses please follow her if you haven't) and how to make a rough second impression.

"Well, Ivy, we gotta hurry up! We need to be at the Arbogast place pretty soon if we're picking up that new shipment!"
"Ugh."
"Ugh?"
"Ugh." Ivy rolled over in bed, and sighed. "I'm sick, Rocky. I feel awful."
"Oh...well, Calvin was gonna drive the full shipment, but...who's gonna join me in the Decoy?"
"Not me," she said, "I can barely get out of bed...and I'm also upset with you fer makin' Calvin work while his poor, waifish Fiance is stuck in bed, withering!" She dramatically posed, groaning, as Rocky rolled his eyes.
"Oh, c'mon, the other night you beat a man up and stole his jacket, you're hardly WAIFISH." Rocky put his hands on his hips. "And besides, Calvin doesn't need to spend EVERY night with his girl...friend..." Rocky's ears stood up. His eyes went wide.
"On second thought," he said, "I know just who to call!"
"Your work?" Ari asked, cocking her head to one side. She was leaning on a wall outside the Daisy, her ears propped up, her eyes looking into Rocky's.
"Sure! I'm sure you'd do great for it!" He smiled brightly, and put his hands on her shoulders. She blushed, just a little. He leaned in. "Besides, we get the FUN part of the job while my cousin has to do the less fun part!"
"What're we doing?" She asked. "What sort of day to day work do gangsters do? Meeting celebrity clients? Getting into shootouts? Attending fancy parties?" She seemed excited at those prospects. Rocky hissed in a breath.
"I have a feeling you're about to be...less than impressed by my source of income." His ears drooped. "We're baiting."
"Baiting? Like...a decoy?" Her ears drooped, too. "Oh...that sounds...dangerous." She wringed her hands nervously. "There aren't gonna be people...coming after us, are there?"
"Some nights, yes, some nights, no. Our primary rivals have been rather quiet lately! I think they're trying to hire new axe men after I disposed of their old employee." Rocky laughed. "I hear they STILL haven't found his left foot!"
Ari looked...frightened. "Sounds...harrowing."
"Oh, Ari, c'mere." Rocky scooped her up into an embrace, and rubbed her back. "My cavalier approach to the job is done with the idea in mind that present company is...aware of the danger! I can be very careful when I've got a mind to!"
"Promise?"
"Promise, my love." He moved some hair from her face, and kissed her, purring as he walked her to the truck.

The actual pass off was easy this time. The rather unglamorous drive from Defiance back to St. Louis started well!
"Nothing so far." Rocky said. "Usually, if we get past this point, we're pretty safe."
"Oh?" Ari leaned on Rocky, and smirked, raising her eyebrows. "It's very romantic out, isn't it? That big moon, the bugs chirping, the breeze..."
"Hehe...yeah." Rocky smiled at her, too, still driving. "It's very romantic." He peered at the mirror on her side. He narrowed his eyes.
"...whaddya see in that mirror?" He asked.
She looked. She gasped. "...something's following us! I think I see a face."
"Damn and blast! Our romantic tryst ruined by the cowardly antics of the Marigold Room..."
"How do we know they're Marigold?"
"One of 'em look like a weasel?"
"...yeah."
"It's them." Rocky grumbled. "How I loathe them..." He looked back. "See that big box on the floor? There's a big gun in there."
Ari opened it, and saw - well. He did SAY it was big.
"What sort of rounds does this shotgun even take?" She loaded a few in, finding it intuitive.
"Buck shot. Pretty normal stuff - it'll stop a man in his tracks! Ivy likes to use slugs but I find those more effective for cracking windshields and-"
BANG!
"...you're right! It cracked their windshield pretty well!" Ari shouted, smiling. "They both look fine though." She sighed. "A bit of a relief if you ask me, I couldn't stomach killing someone..." She began to shiver and shake, as the car suddenly turned off. She leaned over. "I think...I think they left?"
"We'll see...there's a pretty well known spur here, if they're quick they'll-"
Before he could say 'pop out in front of them', they popped out in front of them, and slammed on the brakes. Rocky stopped and huffed, smirking. "Well. Time to see the fun part, huh?"
"...Rocky I love you but-"
"But what?" His eyes were wild, and his smile toothy and wicked. What Ari didn't know quite yet about Rocky was his...gruesomeness when painted into corners. He was someone that Marigold people typically avoided.
Not tonight, it seemed.
Rocky got out of the car. he was approached by three men. One looked like a weasel, and the other two, a black cat and a gray cat, looked unremarkable. Ari poked her head up over the dashboard, keeping a hold on the shotgun, but also on the only other heavy thing inside - a tire iron.
"Evening, gentlemen!"
"What's with shooting up the-...wait a minute..." The weaseley one looked Rocky over. "...I know you..."
"Surely you're mistaken, Wes! With a brain like yours I'm amazed you know anything, let alone a face!"
That quip earned Rocky a stiff punch to the jaw. This made Ari tense up. She gripped the gun a little tighter.
"Whoever you think I am, I assure you, I'm not! I was only passing through on my...condensed milk delivery route!"
"Oh? Let's see it."
"See what?"
"The condensed milk."
Rocky began to walk to the back of the truck. Ari wanted to be waiting there with...something, but before she could even begin to, Rocky walked into the back with one of the men.
"So, as you can see, we're at the end of our route here, and-" Before Rocky finished the sentence, he slashed the man's throat, and stabbed him. Multiple times. There was blood all over the back of the truck.
"It's him! Boss, it's him!" the other man shouted.
"Get into the car!" Wes replied, as he ran back towards it. The man rushed after him, but was left behind by a scared Wes.
"...no honor among thieves, hmm, young man?" Rocky, covered in blood, approached the man, who-
BANG!
-"AHG!" Rocky winced and fell backwards. "My brain is FURTHER DOWN, you idiot! Now it just STINGS!" He gripped his ear and writhed on the ground. The man laughed, nervously and incredulously. "I'm gonna kill Rocky Rickaby? I really am! They'll hang pictures of me in the Marigold Room! I'll never have to work another day in my life!"
Rocky huffed. "Please, I urge you, reconsider! Spare a thought for a poor, tender hearted gin man!"
"Hush up! Any last words?"
"...don't look behind you."
"Huh? I-"
THWACK!
Standing where the man once stood was Ari, with a bloodied tire iron. She looked drained and gaunt, huffing, as if she was struggling just to stand.

"We gotta take him back, we have a...place for bodies." Rocky, ever the gentleman, carried the body and put it in the back of the truck himself, not making Ari lift a finger.
He was nervous, though...if only because the drive home was deadly silent.

When they got back, Rocky looked dejected. Horrible. He never looked like that after a mission...but the silence told him enough. he knew she was going to go for someone with a less dangerous career path. How did Calvin ever do it? How did he land a girlfriend who loved him so much they were getting MARRIED and he just ruined his only chance with this woman! She was too beautiful, too wonderful to replace. He sighed.
"Rocky?"
"...hmm?" He looked over, taking off his hat and holding it over his chest.
"...I'm glad you're safe." She said. She walked over to him, and put her hand on his cheek. "And...I love you very much but I don't know if I want to do that again."
"You're sure?" He asked.
"I mean, I handled it okay, but it's very harrowing stuff! I mean I'm probably gonna need to think this over a lo-"
"I meant when you said you loved me."
"...Rocky..." She shook her head, "hold me, sweetheart." She put her arms around him, and he did the same. "Nothin's gonna stop me lovin' you...even if you do gruesomely stab people to death multiple times while smiling and laughing."
"What else could I have done? He was in the truck, I was afraid he'd see you!"
"Awww, you did that to keep me safe?" She kissed his cheek. "Well, aren't you just a knight in shining armor!"
"Oh, Ari..."
"Oh, Rocky..."
"...you're sure you don't wanna join me again? You're pretty handy with the tire iron."
"I think I'd rather not." She said. "No matter how romantic it is to think about you protecting me like that it was a bit worse to actually LIVE through!"
As the two parted ways, Ari walked out of the club through the main building, running into Mitzi along the way.
"Hello, Miss May!" She said.
"Well hello, Ari, how're you?" She asked, shooting that sly, southern smile to her.
"I'm fine - Rocky stabbed a man to death for me!" She swooned. "Isn't he a dream?"
"...sure." As Mitzi walked further down the stairs, she looked towards Horatio.
"She's the only one for him, Horatio." Mitzi said. "In more ways than one."

Remember when action films actually had stories which made sense and a real sense of danger because the heroes were constantly in danger of death? Me either, it’s been a long time. The Gray Man is sort of the state-of-the-art in modern cartoonish action, a film in which the violence is so wildly over the top that eventually the whole enterprise seems ridiculous.
Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling), the anti-hero of this adrenaline rush which calls itself a film, is shot (multiple times), stabbed (also multiple times), survives car crashes, explosions, huge falls, being punched and kicked (over and over again), jumping from a crashing plane (without a parachute), nearly drowning and so many other poorly shot and edited hazards that I can’t even remember them all.
You’d think all that would kill a guy, or at the very least slow him down. However, Six is barely bruised, occasionally limping slightly, or getting a little cut, or slightly losing his breath. He seems to be indestructible, leaving a trail of bodies and ravaged cities behind him as entire groups of military assassins try, unsuccessfully, to take him out.
And why are they so desperate to kill this unkillable guy? I don’t know, it has something to do with a cute tween girl and an incriminating flash drive. I think.
Maybe they just don’t like him. Or maybe they just know that there would be no movie without them trying. I’ve got a secret for the Russo Brothers, there’s not much of a movie even with it. The Gray Man is basically what a Fast & Furious movie would be if they didn’t have a sense of humor about themselves.
Which is a shame, because there is the seed of an okay movie in The Gray Man before it goes completely off the rails and becomes a non-stop thrill ride.
The problem isn’t with the cast. It’s Ryan Gosling’s first movie in four years since First Man, and Chris Evans is always entertaining in his asshole mode (see also: Knives Out), and Ana de Armas is stunning, as always. It’s just none of them are really given much to do. Chris Evans’ character is particularly disappointing – yes, he’s an asshole, but he’s also completely incompetent (the character, not Evans). He’s supposed to be one of the most deadly, ruthless assassins in the world, but he doesn’t seem smart enough to kill a fly. And he mostly leaves the killing to others.
And there are lots of others. The Gray Man expends thousands of bullets, bombs, car crashes, etc. No one – criminals or lawmen alike – gives even a moment’s thought or hesitation to all of the potential innocent bystanders who could be killed by the thousands and thousands of rounds of gun fire. Entire cities are laid waste to, again in search of an aging contract killer, a little girl and a flash drive. No one in The Gray Man believes in subtlety.
It may have… maybe… possibly worked as an over-the-top goof, if not for the fact that the hand-held shaky cams and awful editing made the action scenes nearly impossible to follow, even if you wanted to. The directing Russo Brothers – who do have experience in big, blockbuster action films with their Marvel background (helming two Captain America films and two Avengers films) – seem to have totally lost their mojo here. Visually, this film is a mess.
Yet, it somehow fits in for Netflix, where it will be debuting next week after a limited theatrical run. Watching all this mayhem at home, without having to pay for tickets and parking and concessions, will make it easier to take. And easier to leave if you decide to go that way.

Harry’s House is by far my favourite H’s solo album. Cuz to be completely honest, before this, if it weren’t for Sweet Creature and Sunflower Vol.6, I wouldn’t get H’s music at all. I need settings, stage, characters, the whole nine yard to make sense of the story. Thanks to Queen Tay, I’ve been spoiled rotten with her brilliant collections of short stories. Some with overarching theme. Each, always, always with its own conclusion. Louis does the same thing. That’s why they’re my two most beloved lyricists of all time. They make sense and they make it quick.
Not Harry, no. This masochistic person fookin lingers like that three pages of LOTR describing a leaf falling from a tree. It makes me wanna kill somebody. Nothing ever concluded in his songs. NOTHING. Just more questions after a whole lot of unanswered plot lines. I listened to HS1 and I was like WTF is going on? I listened to Fine Line and I was like Ah, I kinda see what’s going on, but how does it end? Fine Line treated me like the end of INCEPTION the movie, what the fook kind of ending is that shaky spinny thing cut to black I HATE YOU SO MUCH. NO WONDER YOU’RE CHRISTOPHER NOLAN’S CHOSEN ONE YOU DEMON CHILD.
Anyhow, I finally realized through Harry’s House that this forever-dancing-Queen-young-and-sweet-only-seventeen never care to tell anyone about the ending of anything because in his froggy brain it was already SO OBVIOUS. yes, Harold, obvious to you. No one else has the benefit of seeing Louis’s eyes confirming your happily-ever-after every fortnight you absolute nutcase.
He’s in love and he’s been sprinkling pixie dust everywhere. But YOU’VE ALSO BEEN HOARDING PETER PAN ALL THIS TIME.
And good god, how narcissistic you have to be. Writing all these angsty overdramatic songs and assuming everyone will figure it out for themselves that you always get a soft warm bed at the End of the Day. I mean to be fair Louis wrote that song way back when 1D’s hiatus wasn’t a thing yet but still.
I guess I’m being mean, though. Cuz H did end up spilling the beans in Harry’s House. But also like, this forces me to understand my own psych and why I got so frustrated whenever I tried to articulate my thoughts on his songs.
Now I’m gonna go clean out my self-awareness with Queen Tay’s puns like Tell me what are my Wordsworth.
PS. I’m also losing my mind at Lou be like “singing something poppy on the same four chords” and H’s Love of My Life literally has four chords like G, D, Em, C. (Or you can even transpose it to C, G, Am, F. It can’t get anymore poppy than that.)

Whumptober 2023 – Day 9  | “You’re a liar”
Pairing: Ben Wade x reader (gender neutral)

A/N: Day nine for Whumptober, today’s prompt: “You’re a liar”

Generally, being in love with Ben Wade was a beautiful thing. But having to keep it a secret because no one could ever know you were seeing a wanted outlaw was not nice. Others could just flirt with you and you could not tell them that you were taken and you could not talk to anyone about the feelings you had. And you hated having secrets in general. Quite often you also had the suspicion that your family suspected something. After all it wasn’t always easy to make sure no one noticed when you sneaked off in the middle of the night to meet your lover. Then, your father managed to make it even worse by betrothing you to someone without even really asking you. For weeks you considered what you could do and if you should just leave and run away with Ben instead or stay and what was asked of you and get a grip on your life. But it wasn’t what you wanted, at least right now.
With each time you went to see Ben, you suspected more that people knew. There were glances you got in town, even from people that didn’t know you that well. Usually ,you wouldn’t have minded but the fact that they might know your secret and judged you for it or would even punish you was almost unbearable. But then one day you started to wish you hadn’t been approached by the sheriff. He just appeared in front of you with your arms crossed in the middle of the street.
“I know your secret, (Y/N)”
“My secret? Isn’t that much of one if you know it, isn’t it, sheriff?” maybe sass wasn’t the best idea but you couldn’t help it. Perhaps it would distract him because at that point you still didn’t know what exactly he wanted to say. Maybe he had just mixed you up with someone or something similar.
“Way you do it, almost the whole town knows” you too crossed your arms and glanced at him, asking what he meant. “You are seeing an outlaw. Not just anyone. Ben Wade”
“I’m what?!” you tried to sound disgusted, hating how fast your heart was beating.
“My men saw you hanging out with him last night”
“If so, what? That’s my life” you muttered, not knowing how else to deny it and not seeing the sense in it.
“Such things are ruining it!” he spat on the ground and sighed “Well, at least it’s taken care of now”
“Taken care of?” you asked, not liking the sound of it.
“Yeah. Louis shot ‘em”
“What?” you squeaked.
“Followed Wade back to his men and then gunned them all down”
“No. No that’s not true. You’re lying. That can’t be” after all Ben’s gang was known as one of the deadliest around here. For you it simply made no sense that one or even two men could take all of them down. Maybe shoot a few, yes but then they would need to be very fast to get out alive. Besides… if they had really killed the whole gang where was the proof? Why didn’t everyone know that yet? Still there was a nagging feeling inside you. What if indeed Ben was dead and then they had to flee from the gang? Your stomach churned and you placed a hand over it, trying to catch your breath.
“You can be happy I decided not to tell everyone”
“Tell them what?”
“About you and Wade” with that he turned around and left you behind. Somehow you stood there like frozen not sure what to do or even think. All of you just wanted to run to where you usually met Ben to see if you could find out what happened. Instead you ran home as fast as you could, ignoring your mother asking what you had and threw yourself down on your bed.
You had no idea how long you had been lying there, sending your mother and siblings away multiple times. At first you had just been crying because you couldn’t and didn’t want to believe it. Then, with time you started to consider what you could do. Either you just accepted it, hoping that maybe Ben had survived and would come back or you left and went looking for him. Because you knew one thing. If he was still alive he and his gang surely would have left anyways. But leaving would also mean that you’d leave your family and if Ben actually was gone, who said that they would take you back? There would be no other place you could go. Or if Ben didn’t want you with him. On the other hand, you simply could not just go on like he had never existed and continue to live the life your parents wanted for you. No, you had made your decision. You would go and find out what had happened to your lover and if he was alive you’d fight for a life by his side.

But, like… as you probably know, I’m losing interest in being a Xena poster. Branching out hasn’t been very successful either, other than that one time. Ahem. Tangents. <_<
Anyway, being the latecomer I am, I just watched “Interview with the Vampire” for the first time ever last night or the night before. And, y’all! I have questions!* Does anyone know a good place to ask ’em?
One unrelated one being how long a human brain can survive without sleep. ’Cuz it’s Friday night, and I’ve slept a collective… like, seven hours this week. Halp. Am I making sense? I think I’m making sense. I’m trying to make sense of making sense. And making sense of you guys being able to make sense of my sense. …Wut? *dead* heh
—SPOILERS AHEAD—
*Why was Lestat SO un-killable? How does he survive everything, when no one else can survive anything??? Like… he went all woozy before getting his throat slit, then deflated and hemorrhaged much more blood than could possibly fit in his body. The other two dumped his desiccated corpse into a swamp where a gator clearly ate him thereafter. But somehow… he reinflated, then bit the croc from the inside and ate his way out? Is there a vampire alligator floating around in the Louisiana bayou now? ’Cuz like, it and Lestat consumed each other’s blood. (Might not Lestat have softened Claudia’s heart toward him if he gave the creature to her as a pet? …Nah! She despised reptiles. haha)
Ahem. ANYway, dude-man next gets set on fire (Why are vampires so very, very flammable?) and left like that for quite some time, which destroyed the entire theater of vampires. Didn’t leave a single burn on Old Staty, though, apparently. Conversely, are all the theater kids fine since fire doesn’t do much to the undead after all? ’Cuz a hundred years or whatever after Lestat’s immolation, Louis finds him wasting away but still very much “alive;” Lestat begs Louis to stay with him but gets abandoned. Which would presumably kill him. But no. He’s fine.
But, like, he had such a huge reaction to the helicopter searchlights (What were the police [?] looking for so suddenly, by the way?), and the trio had to always sleep in coffins. So, how did Lestat survive exposed in a sunny swamp for weeks on end, then? Or did he burn up like Claudia and Madeline did but then just shook that off every night too? …How???
Lastly (for now), Louis HATED being a vampire and felt so conflicted about it for so long and all. Blah’dy blah. He was like, “I’m doomed! DOOMED to an eternal hell, I tell you!!!! There’s no escape!!! 😭” But he saw with and through Claudia three seemingly very effective ways to end his existence. Well, okay. Neither that whole dead-blood-drinking nor the old set-him-on-fire schtick stuck with Lestat, but I’m pretty sure that was just him. No? Either way, all vampires instinctively knew to fear and avoid sunlight. Then Louis found Claudia turned to ash by it. Like, dude. Dude! If you really wanna end it all that badly… pull back a curtain. Open a window. Open a door. Take a step outside of your house during daytime hours. Any one of those things is really all you’ve had to do this whole time, especially after the loss of Claudia and your successful (?) vengeance for her. …No? Am I missing something?

“Close your eyes”
“How did you -”
Jack cut you off, sighing and shifting closer to you in bed. “Because I can feel you starin’, you’ll do fine.” He flipped onto his stomach, moving a hand up under your t-shirt to place his palm flat on your belly.
Daylight was spilling through the curtains, but you just wanted to stay in bed with him. The soft opening of the bakery was tonight for the members of the city counsel. It was a tradition in the town. You couldn’t tell if the nausea you felt was from the pregnancy or your nerves.
What made it worse was that most of the food there had been made by your staff. They were your recipes, but somehow it still felt like cheating.
“Jack?” You whispered, moving your hand to thread through strands of his coffee-colored hair. He shifted closer and kissed your cheek - his eyes still closed. You took this as a sign to continue, “you’re gonna make it, right?”
His voice was deep and husky from sleep. “Course I already spoke to the boss about it. He said it was fine. I wouldn’t miss this for the world darlin’.”
“Has your family said anything about tomorrow?”
“No, but I’ll ask em’ again.”
“...do you think they like me?”
Jack groaned “we’ve had this talk a million times sugar, of course they like you. They just have a funny way of showin’ it is all.”
You listened to the birds singing from the oak tree outside. Normally you two didn’t stay in bed this long unless it was a weekend, but Jack called in late today. You rubbed his arm idly under the sheets. 
“Have you thought of any names yet?”
“We only found out it was a girl yesterday.”
“I’m watching this show and the main character’s name was Houston…. I thought that was pretty cute.”
He was quick to shoot you down, “no.”
“Why?”
“I refuse to name my daughter after the enemy.”
“Unpack that for me.”
“The Tennessee Titans formerly known as the Houston Oilers have had a rivalry with the Houston Texans since the team was founded in 1999.”
“Jesus Christ Jack Football?”
“If my daughter is gonna be a winner then she’ll need to have a winner’s name.”
You reached over onto the bed stand and unplugged your phone. You opened the web search app and started typing. “It says here that the Tennessee Titans have never one a Superbowl.”
“At least they’ve been there darlin’.”
You scrolled “yeah once twenty years ago. Says they lost to the St Louis Ra-”
He snatched your phone from your hand and placed it under his pillow. “They’ll get em’ this year darlin’ - don’t you worry.”
You snorted with laughter. 
“Just for that her first birthday will be Titans themed.”
You smiled and settled in closer to your husband as the sweet scent of lavender filled your senses. “Do you think she can hear us in there?’
“I dunno.” he raised his voice a little. “Baby girl - if you can hear this, tell your mamma to get her cold feet off my leg.”
You kicked him playfully. “Tell your daddy to stop hogging all the covers and I won’t have to put my feet on his leg.”
“Tell your mamma that I need the blankets as my shield for when she decides to flail about in the night.”
You cackled. “I do not flail about.”
“Uh, trust me darlin’ you do - I gotta be ready at any moment for an elbow coming at my face.”
You giggled “that was one time.”
“It hurt like hell.”
“I was asleep! Besides, I said I was sorry.”
He shuttered dramatically. “You're worse than-” he cleared his throat, saving himself quickly. “Maybe I’ll call out today.”
“You don’t have any more vacation days,” you remind him. 
“They can’t fire me.”
“Why?”
“Cuz’ then they’d have to kill me …..and you.”
Your eyes went wide. You lifted yourself up a little to look at him, only to notice the smile on his face.
“I’m only jokin’ hon. They would torture us both before they killed us.”
You rolled your eyes.  
He snuggled closer to you. “Don’t worry darlin’ I won’t let that happen.”
“Oh, you won’t?” you asked, teasing.
“Nope.” 
“What are you gonna do? Tie em’ up and bore them with football facts?”
He hummed, pretending to be annoyed - but you knew he was only playing.  There was silence for a few moments before he spoke again. “I can still feel you staring-”
“I’m not tired I can’t just fall back asleep-” a gasp escaped your lips as Jack moved his hand from your stomach to brush against your panties. He traced the hemline of the fabric before moving his hand underneath.
His index finger stroked over your center with a feather light touch. You twitched and reached out to halt his hand. “If you're still tired you don’t have to-”
“Does it feel good?”
“Yes but-”
“Do you want me to keep going?”
“Yes.”
“So close your eyes and let me do it.”
You nodded and relaxed into the mattress. Jack shifted upwards, so he was holding himself on one arm. He pressed a kiss to your forehead and started to rub tight circles around your clit. 
You flinched uncomfortably; he knew what it meant without you even having to verbalize it. Reading your body was something he had become excellent at these last few years. He had learned your patterns and made a mental note each time something worked and something didn't. 
The sheets ruffled against each other as his body weight moved lower on the bed. You didn’t realize what he was doing until his lips brushed against your upper thigh. 
“I can do you next,” you told him quickly, not wanting to seem selfish. 
He shushed you and hooked his fingers around your panties to pull them off. You lifted your hips and felt the fabric glide down your legs and off your feet. A shiver shot through your spine as his facial hair brushed against the inner part of your leg. He smiled and trailed kisses all the way down to the apex of your thigh, pausing a moment before starting to suck a mark into your soft skin. 
You felt yourself buck already. He laughed at how eager you were and laid a hand flat on your hips, stopping your squirming so he could finish making a little bruise with his mouth. One of his favorite things to do was paint you with a hickey or two.
Especially in places that are visible to others, it served as a reminder to everybody that you were his. He got high off of it. Watching that spark of jealousy cross over peoples faces as soon as you flipped your hair or removed your jacket and unwittingly displayed for them the purple mark that he had kissed into your skin not hours before…..yeah he would never get tired of it.
He loved watching other people lust for you and often found himself wondering just what they were imagining. Was it the way your nipples perked up whenever he ghosted a hand over your chest? Or perhaps the sound of your breathless moans beneath him as he pumped into you and you submitted to him entirely? Sometimes when he was fucking you, he imagined someone watching or listening from outside the door. 
The daydream that came most often was bending you over his desk and work and looking down at you. Your face pressed against a stack of files, mouth open and eyes squeezed shut. In the dream he wouldn't try to silence your cries of pleasure as they echoed through the long corridors. He would make certain that you were heard clearly by every single coworker walking by the office.  It was his dirty little secret that he never planned to confess because it made him feel guilty.
A large hand gripped your leg and nudged it apart, you could feel his hot breath ghosting over your sensitive skin as he lingered there, teasing you. You whined, grasping a fistful of the sheets in your hand and rolling your head against the pillow. 
You bucked again and thankfully he was merciful this time. He swiped his tongue upwards through your folds slowly, and your hips followed. Your hands released the fabric and found their way to his curls. His hair was mused and knotted from sleep. 
“Fuck, I love you” you sighed.
His fingers spread you apart while his tongue started to swirl gently on your sensitive bundle of nerves. You arched your back and moaned something unintelligible.
Jack loved hearing you sing for him. When he first met you, he had noticed how much you held back. After that, each time he took you, he made it a game to pull as many trembling cries or melodical notes from your lips as he could. It worked too, because god did you sing. 
His beautiful little instrument, carved by the gods themselves. 
He moved his arms around your thighs, keeping them open as you squirmed from pleasure. He kissed you harder, losing himself entirely in the sensation of your wet sex against his lips. The tug on his hair made him smirk and dip his tongue inside of you. Hot waves of pleasure shot straight into your stomach. 
The feeling of absolute bliss made you dizzy. “Jack,” you whimpered, voice cracking a little. 
When you started to lift your hips into his touch, he knew that you were close. 
You always squirmed a little more as you approached the edge. Pulling away and then moving right back,  as if your body couldn’t decide if the pleasure was too much or not enough all at the same time. He withdrew his tongue and pulled you downward on the bed a little, positioning himself over you more. 
“Please,” you begged, needing to feel him again. 
He was quick to respond, clamping his mouth over your clit and flicking quickly with his tongue. The knot in your stomach tightened ever more, and you felt yourself moving your hips against his mouth. 
He urged your legs to open an inch wider and that extra burst of sensation was all you needed to slip over the edge. Your eyebrows knit together and your mouth fell open in pleasure. You didn’t even hear yourself finish, but Jack sure did. 
‘That's it, just like that darlin’,’ he thought triumphantly. He continued to kiss you, your walls fluttering at his touch until your hand came up to bat weakly at his shoulder. A signal for him to stop. He pressed one more kiss to the inside of your thigh before moving back upwards and settling on the pillow again.
He laughed when he saw you laying there, momentarily immobilized from ecstasy. The smirking cowboy snuggled closer to you again, forearm draping over your heaving chest as you tried to catch your breath. 
“Yeah,” you panted “I can do five more minutes.”

Top 5 Best Executed Deaths
A few weeks ago, I did a list talking about the Top 5 Character Deaths That Made Me Side-Eye the Writers and I thought it was only fair that I talk about some of the character deaths that I thought were actually done well. So consider this like a companion to that list. 
Like I said in that T5F, this is TWDG, a game series all about people surviving in a world overrun by zombies. Naturally, characters are going to die. Some of these characters get pretty shitty deaths that only happened to fill a quota, some had effort and thought put into them and how they were going to effect the story and remaining characters. These are deaths that served their purpose, progressed the story, or are an understandable conclusion to a character’s arc. 
Do keep in mind that when I say that I enjoy the way these were done/handled/portrayed/whatever, this isn’t me taking joy outta watching these deaths play out. Hell, I kinda hate most of the deaths on this list, but just because I don’t want this character to die or I wish they stuck around longer doesn’t mean I can’t recognize when it’s executed well, y’know? 
5. Larry and the meat locker incident

So.... Larry’s an asshole, y’know? He made it on another T5F because he sucks. No one likes Larry. 
He treats Lee like garbage, treats his own daughter terribly, and is overall just a piece of shit. That being said, he played his role well. He did what he needed to do which was be a antagonistic character within the group who posed a threat to Lee by threatening to expose his past. He creates a lot of tension within the group, he puts all this pressure on Lilly, you can’t even attempt to show any kindness to him because he doesn’t care about anyone but himself and Lilly. 
That being said.... his death scene is pretty good. Y’know, you play through ep2 for the first time and you’ve just discovered that these people are cannibals and they have you locked in a fucking meat locker so they can butcher you later, and Larry is freakin’ the fuck out because he’s pissed. Lilly is sick in the corner, Kenny is desperately trying to find a way out because they have his family, and Clementine is terrified, and Lee is just waking up. 
You go over and try to calm Larry down because he’s pounding at the door and this dude.... this bastard has the gall to be like “Fuck you, you must really hate me! I’m plannin’ on bein’ around waaaaaay after you’re dead! I’ll be the one to put you down!”
Then he has a heart attack. 
And you’re stuck in this meat locker with him. You don’t know if he’s alive or not-- Kenny immediately deems him dead, Lilly is desperately trying to resuscitate him, and they’re both yelling at you. You gotta decide if you’re gonna help Lilly try to bring him back, or if you’re gonna help Kenny make sure he doesn’t turn. 
Not matter what you do, Kenny smashes Larry’s head in with a damn saltlick because I guess he missed the opening of the episode where they remind you that your actions have consequences. 
Larry’s death has lasting effects on your relationships with both Lilly and Kenny, though more so Kenny since no matter what, Lilly loses it a little and ends up murdering Carley/Doug and leaving the group. But boy, Kenny will never forget the time you didn’t wanna play hero with him and smash a guys head in right in front of his daughter. 
It’s a damn good scene, I gotta hand it to ‘em. I hate Larry and I can’t say I miss him, but I can definitely see both sides of the argument on what to do there. Plus it’s... I dunno, a creative death? and I kinda like that? No one else is out here getting their heads done in with a saltlick, y’know? 
Anyway, Larry sucks but his death? Well done. 
4.  Minerva and the tragic showdown on the bridge

Oh man, I really am digging my own grave with the Minnie crowd lately, huh? Ah well, I’m sure it’s fine. 
Listen...okay, look. I have a lot of feelings about the bridge scene. On one hand, I hate it. On the other hand, I kind of love it? 
Like, does it piss me off that Tenn dies here because I trust AJ? Yep. Do I still wish they had maybe put Lilly here so that she could actually do her job as a villain? Sure. Does it upset me that AJ ends up shooting his best friend in order to save Louis? Totally. Does it annoy me that Minerva just won’t fucking die even though I shot her and the walkers keep nom noming her? Absolutely. 
That being said, I can’t pretend that Minerva’s death isn’t pretty great.... which I know will upset the Minnie crowd who always talk about how it’s bullshit she died here and she deserved a redemption arc... but lemme explain. 
Looking at the game itself, the text and story progression, Minerva was never going to get that. She was never set up as someone we were gonna “fix” or as someone who would have a change of heart and switch to our side. From the moment we meet her, she’s too far gone. The delta have their claws sunk deep within her, they brainwashed her, forced her to murder her own sister, and she has completely given up. She never expresses any desire to go back to the school. Nope, the delta is her home now. Her family. And it’s tragic. She and Sophie proof of what would happen to the Ericson crew if the delta go ahold of them-- “which twin will you be?” y’know? 
She fucks us over instead of actually helping us, we escape, the boat explodes, but Minerva doesn’t go down with the boat. Nope, she makes it to land and well... she fucking loses it. She sees her delta family get taken out by walkers and she goes nuts with her gun and gets half of her face chewed off by a walker.
So yeah..... she’s dead. Almost. They try to act like we’re supposed to believe that she’s really dead after she gets surrounded by walkers and throws the grenade at Clementine and all that but c’mon.... unless I see a body or a walker version, I don’t believe shit. 
Which brings me to the bridge.... there’s a lot of dread building up to Minerva’s final appearance, and you just hear her singing the damn song and bringing a bunch of walkers with her. Not to mention that she already looks dead. She looks like a walker who can talk, and not gonna lie, I like it. It’s freaky and sad and fucked up and adds so much to her character at this point. I mean, she’s here to kill Tenn so that they can all be a family again. She’s smiling and relieved that she’s dying and boy she just can’t wait to take Tenn with her and it’s not great.
She’s here to die and to take someone down with her, and she’s not leaving until she does. Hell, if she can take Clementine out, that’s just a bonus at this point. 
ALSO can’t forget that if AJ does shoot and kill Tenn, Minerva is still alive as she’s being eaten by walkers and she looks so damn happy as she reaches out and says, “Yes, come with me...” 
Like..... it’s so fucked, and I hate that I love it. From a storytelling standpoint, it’s a fitting death to conclude Minerva’s character and it impacts everyone there in more ways than one. 
3. Duck and incredible emotional impact

Oh, Duck... poor, poor Duck. 
This one has stuck with me and I hate it. I was never one of those players who hated Duck from the beginning. It’s interesting to go back and see how people reacted to him in the first couple episodes because a lot of them didn’t like him. They found Duck to be annoying, loud, stupid, and would even wonder “yeesh, when can I kill this kid?” 
Which is yikes but not gonna get into that right now. 
But from my understanding, Telltale got wind of this and knowing they were gonna kill him off, were like “Okay, y’all dumb, so here--” and they added in that little segment with Detective Duck where he helps Lee figure out what’s been going on with the stole meds. It’s a cute scene where we get to hang out with Duck and he proves that he’s not stupid, he’s just... y’know, a child. 
Then the motor inn gets attacked, shit goes down after they escape, and it’s revealed that Duck was bitten. 
Oh man, let me tell you about emotional impact both on the characters and the player because wow. 
Duck’s death is slow, drawn out...and since it’s early in the series, there’s a lot of denial, mostly from Kenny. They find the train and Kenny fixates on it because to him, if he gets it working and they can just get away, Duck can recover. Duck isn’t like the others, he’s just a little sick and everyone is making a big fuss about it. 
Then you have Katjaa, who starts out in that denial stage but she moves into acceptance a lot quicker than Kenny does and well.... that might be because she made up her mind about what she was going to do, which that is a whole other layer of fucking despair to this situation. 
They also do something that I like with Kenny by adding that depth of him believing he had something like this coming after what happened at Hershel’s farm. Y’know, when he grabbed Duck and took off, leaving Shawn to die? Yeah that. 
He’s been so adamant about protecting his family to the point where he doesn’t have anything for the rest of the group, aside from Lee if he helps kill Larry. He did what he could to keep his wife and child safe and in the end, it didn’t matter. Duck still got bit, and now everything is shit. 
Then when you thought it couldn’t hurt even more, you find Katjaa dead in the woods and you still have to take care of Duck, whether you have Lee shoot him or have Kenny do it, or even just leave him to turn. Either way.... Duck’s death is just one big ol’ despairing oof.
It’s really good, guys. The music, dialogue, scenery, the pain....They really nailed Duck’s death in such an emotional way and it doesn’t just end there. This sticks with Kenny all the way through S2 and changes him as a character. It impacted Clementine and Lee greatly because this kickstarted Chuck telling them that Clem would end up just like Duck if things didn’t change. 
S1 just... knew how to kill off its characters... well, for the most part. 
2. Marlon and the death that had to happen whether we like it or not

Sigh.... okay. 
So... Marlon. Lemme tell you some things about Marlon’s death. 
First, I hate it. Nothing new there. If you know anything about me, you know that I am vocal in my desire for the Marlon redemption arc, for the “Marlon lives” AU’s and the “Marlon lives longer but dies differently” AU’s. I like Marlon as a character, I find him to be a fascinating character study. Ray Chase’s performance as Marlon brings so much personality and I love it.  So naturally, I wanted more of him in TFS. 
Here’s the thing. I may want all of those things, I may take a lot of joy from discussing these ideas with you guys and coming up with different scenarios,  theories, AU’s about him, and I’ll always be the first one to be like “I hate that Marlon dies in ep1, I wish AJ hadn’t shot him! Woulda liked for him to stick around longer!” 
But with the story TFS is trying to tell, Marlon has to die. AJ has to shoot him. I don’t like it, you don’t like it, no one likes it.... but that’s just how it is. 
Marlon is presented to us as this chill and genuine guy trying to keep his group safe and together. He feels the pressure of being responsible for all the lives in this school and that’s a lot to put on a teen growing up in the apocalypse. 
Then we learn that hey, the twins didn’t die. No, last year they ran into Abel and Marlon made a deal with him where he traded the twins in order to save himself, Brody, and the rest of the school. He wanted to plan a rescue mission, but he was too scared, so he and Brody kept it to themselves. They made up a story about the twins dying and moved on, but that continued to weigh down on them. 
Then Abel comes back, Brody freaks out, tells Clementine the truth, and Marlon hits her so hard that it kills her. 
And it gets worse. 
You go through the whole confrontation with Marlon trying to cover his ass and blame Clementine for Brody’s murder, he’s waving AJ’s gun around and threatening to shoot Clem while everyone is gathered around watching. It’s raining, it’s super dramatic and tense and I love it. 
In the end, Marlon gives up and he just wants to leave. Let him become a bad memory, he’ll never come back, just let him go. 
Then AJ shoots him in the head unprompted. He just.... he just does it and then wonders why everyone is looking at him like he’s a murder baby. 
Marlon’s death is crucial, not just to kickstart the plot but also for AJ’s character arc. His death affects everyone in that school. It makes Clementine question herself and if she’s raising AJ right, it breaks Louis’ heart, it pisses off Mitch, it sets Violet off on her bullshit. Everyone is hurting and confused because they don’t know what to do. Marlon is dead and AJ, this tiny toddler, was the one who pulled the trigger. 
From the beginning, we’re told that AJ is always listening, watching, and what we do will affect him for better or worse.... and maybe you don’t think much when you tell him to always aim for them head, but when he says exactly what you taught him after murdering Marlon...? Yeah, you’re sitting there like “Well, fuck.” 
But if this didn’t happen, if AJ didn’t kill Marlon, then.... there’s not a lot left. Sure the raiders are still coming, but AJ no longer has to go through what he has to or realize how much he hurt everyone. He’s no longer on that path that made him such an interesting and layered character. 
Sure, you coulda made him shoot someone else, but the fact that it was Marlon is what made it impactful.
Ugh, it’s good and I hate it. I hate it so much. 
1. Lee and the death that broke all our hearts

What else is there to say?
Well, alright, I’ll explain. 
We play as Lee in S1, we go on this whole journey with him and develop him as a character, establish relationships, and care for Clementine. He’s a great character. I did a list on why he’s great, too, if you wanna check that out but all you really need to know is that we all loved Lee.
Lee’s got a lot of baggage, given that he was on his way to prison for murdering the dude who was sleeping with his wife. But then the apocalypse happened and he got a second chance to do some good... or I guess bad? if you do a scumbag Lee run? 
Anyway-- no matter what, he cares for Clementine and it’s nice to see them bond over the course of the season... so when shit hits the fan and Clementine gets kidnapped by the Stranger, we’re just as upset as Lee is.
Then Lee gets bit.... and we realize that even though he’s our playable protagonist, he was never safe either. He gets bit and I can still remember the feeling of like... a bowling ball dropping in my stomach and my heart hurting because no... no, no, not Lee. I basically became Kenny like “No, he’s different! Lee isn’t gonna die! Being bit doesn’t mean death!” and while that is technically true.... had to face it: Lee’s going to die by the end of the season. 
Ep5 of S1 is a whole journey... We’re dealing with trying to save Clementine while seeing Lee get worse and worse-- he’s passing out, he’s growing paler and slower and it’s hard to watch. You maybe get a little bit of hope if you decide to cut his arm off, but that’s just... it’s too late for that. 
Not only is he fighting this, but then you got Ben who gets impaled and Kenny “dies” putting him outta his misery and Lee’s powerless to do anything. So great, that sucks. 
But at least he’s got Christa and Omid.... until they get separated at the Marsh House and Lee’s gotta get through a herd of them by himself. 
This slow burn is so good. His condition gets progressively worse but he’s so determined to get to Clem that it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have time to think about what is inevitably going to happen to him, even if the player does. 
And just.... the final scene... y’know, the actual death scene? 
It’s so good. It’s a beautiful, emotional punch in the face. Like, way to end your game like this... Lee is trapped her with Clementine and he can’t walk, he can’t get up no matter how much Clementine begs him to try, he just- he can’t. He knows it’s all over for him and so he has her handcuff him to this heater so that no matter what, he can’t hurt her and just.... their final moments together where Lee is minutes away from death but is struggling to tell her as much as he can and I’m crying.
Then of course, the final choice-- Do you shoot Lee, or do you leave him to turn?
Both ending hurt my soul, but they’re both great in different ways. Shooting him is so heartbreaking... seeing little Clem sobbing as she points the gun at him and closes her eyes, then it cuts to black as the shot rings out and you hear Lee’s final breath....
BUT THEN YOU HAVE THE LEAVE HIM ENDING WHICH-

Lee manages to tell her more when you choose not to shoot him, but just watching Clementine get to the door and her little “don’t go” before Lee closes his eyes and falls over limp... falls over dead, I just--
Ouch... I am applauding this through my ugly sobs. 
It’s the best death in the series. It has everything and then some- emotional impact, works to progress the story and characters, amazing dialogue and performances.... It still gets me to this day.

Honorable Mentions
-Mark’s death technically happens off screen, but I mean, c’mon... Mark wasn’t the most compelling character, but everyone remembers what happened to him. Everyone remembers walker Mark. What happened to him showed us just how fucked the St Johns were and it’s excellent.  -Brody’s death is pretty good, too.  -Abel’s death is an interesting one. He’s a garbage can, but they managed to humanize him just a bit by the way he hands his soon-to-be demise.  -Badger when Conrad kills him. It’s super good.  -I’m looking over this list now and it’s kinda funny that not a single S2 death made it here... it’s almost like all the character death that happened there was because a quota needed to be filled and who cares about complex character development when you got Kenny and nothing really matters I guess... ugh. The best deaths would probably be Carver, and Kenny when you shoot him but they’re not good enough to be in a top 5 so.... good job.

how would you analyize or interpret the song walls?cause i‘ve heard a lot of people say it‘s a break up song as it‘s written in past tense and basically saying he‘s stronger now after a break up (maybe even from a toxic relationship), he‘s risen above it and it doesn‘t really sound like a love song about an ongoing romance, does it?
Hi anon this is going to be a long one bc there is no quick answer to this so just know you asked for this.
First let's get one thing straight the ones who claim Walls [the album in general] is a break up album are the "Rads" short for Radical Louies. Essentially they are toxic louies who once were a larry shipper [not even a real larrie] but now hate Harry bc their mad Louis hasn't gotten the same promo and solo opportunities Harry has and some how in their eyes that's Harry's fault. They don't see it was Syco trying to sabotage Louis and in no way is Louis being sabotaged Harry's fault. Rads try to twist the truth and believe Harry left Louis for fame so since they hate Harry they have twisted the meaning of Walls to in their head a break up from a toxic relationship. They also really want LT2 to be a HUGE SHADE break up album which is 100% not the case so don't believe their crap.
Tho I heard you may have sent this same ask to others [who probably ignored you] so there is a chance you are a rad trying to find out what larries believe. Either way if you are a confused larrie or an undercover rad you probably need this info that no one else will bother giving you the time of day to tell you but I myself thought why not I'll answer you.
Second Louis and Harry have been happily in love for 10 years and have not officially broken up. Yes they have had issues like any couple does but it did not stem from eachother their issues stemed from them being forcibly closeted, the stunt gfs and their labels thus their songs are not break up songs but songs about not being able to be free and forced to fake date others when all they want is to publicly be with the one they love.
Now that that is out of the way here's why Walls is about Louis loving one person and one person only since he was 18. I'm doing the whole album [minus TOU] bc it is impossible to state why Walls the song is not a break up song without mentioning the others like Too Young [which rads also claim as a break up song] bc the album as a whole paints the whole picture.
Bree's analysis on Walls
Kill My Mind:
You kill my mind, raise my body back to life and I don't know what I'd do without you now.
KMM is definitely the sexual song of Walls [not No Control type sexual but just we click right from the start sexual] It has the I just met you and we are figuring one another out vibe [both physically and just as people] and how right from the start Louis craves Harry and his attention. It has a similar vibe to Watermelon Sugar which Harry said is about the euphoria of falling in love and the way the other person makes you feel right from the start. Louis in KMM is saying I've just meet someone and they are now all I think about, crave and I don't know how I would be able to live without them.
Don't Let It Break Your Heart:
And I know you left apart of you in New York under your bed in a box, but your doing better.
Flashback to HS1 "Ever Since New York" seems like they both love to mention something happening in NY with their lover. We may never know what happened but it's always a funny coincidence when they mention the same places in their songs almost like their singing about the same situation.
Life gets hard and it gets messed up when you give so much, but it's not enough when the highs to high and the lows to low when you love somone and they let you go.
As I stated before their issues involved the stunts [fake dating women] so when Louis says love someone and they let you go he means when his lover gave into what they were being told to do for the sake of their careers. As young as they were when this all started it's hard not to think they may have fell for the lies being fed to them. So Harry let "Louis go" by being seeing with a ton of women gaining himself the brand of "lady's man" while also being forced to watch Louis be with someone else [Eleanor] and publicly act like that was the one he loved. Harry wrote the song Just a Little Bit of Your Heart which is a prime exactly of those feelings. Harry loves Louis so much but he only gets to love him privately while Eleanor gets to loves him publicly and as Harry wrote a little bit of your love is better then none.
Were driving down a one way road to something better. What hurts you is going to pass you'll be doing better.
This shows they know the pain all the bad things thrown their way won't stick around forever. They will overcome this and one day they will see the light at the end of the tunnel or the rainbow after the storm.
We Made It:
Cause we made it, Underestimated and always underrated. Now we're saying goodbye waving to the hard time yeah it's gonna be already.
Do I need to explain it I would say the title alone and this chorus makes it very clear. Break up who when where how? They had hard ships but NOT from their own doing. WMI is about how decpite all they were put through they made it. This reminds me of their Xfactor days or early 1D tour days bc in 1D interviews it was always made clear they would share rooms and also how on the bus Louis bunk was filled with his junk so where did he sleep then? Also there are many former Xfactor contestants that have come out and said they were forced to be in the closet on the show. Flashback to an article claiming the people in charge of the 2010 Xfactor season tried to hide and keep a same sex couple apart wonder who that was? That line is about when they were young and the late nights they spent together wondering how their future was going to go. They were still just big smiles, wide eyed, oblivious young boys when they imagined only good things to come of the future with them and the band.
We were only kids just trying to work it out. Wonder what they'd say if they could see us now?/ Don't know why they put all of this on us when we're so young. Done a pretty good job dealing with it all.
We were only kids [when Louis fell in love with said person] and we're so young reminds me of Harry's song To Be So Lonely where he says "Don't blame me for falling I was just a little boy." They both mention falling in love at a young age and both mention how after all this time they are still just as in love as back then but just a little less naive/oblivious. They are both hinting at a higher person [their label/management] who didn't approve of their love and telling them it wasn't going to work out. Harry going you can't be mad at me I was only a boy and Louis going wonder what would happen if they saw us now meaning look we didn't let you win. They tried so hard to separate Louis and Harry but it didn't work and Louis wants us and THEM especially to know they are still very much together, they handled it as best at they could and they weren't going to let them keep Louis and Harry apart.

This is what we call a stunt line to push a narrative. Harry does stunt songs [Carolina and Cherry] while Louis does stunt lines. This line is suppose to allude to the album being for Eleanor [bc she went to Manchester Uni] but the rest of the album is so clearly not for her. If this song was about a break up from Harry then why would they bother adding in a stunt line about Eleanor when the public story is El and Louis are happily still together with Louis planning to marry her? Unless Walls isn't a break up album and it's very loudly Louis declaring him and Harry are still happily together and they wanted to try and force the image that Louis is happily in love with Eleanor. Also funny how this album is gender neutral and has no she pronouns in it unlike Zayn's new album having she pronouns.
Too Young:

This song is all about how when Harry was only 16 and he was 18 [Louis himself saying the song is about meeting the one at 18] he was to young to realize he had the best lover he was ever going to have, he had it all. As I said before issues in songs = management/stunts and this is Illuding to how Louis let them minupulate them and do what it was they wanted aka stunting and forcing Louis to be with Eleanor and Harry have a "lady's image" since he was only 16 and Louis now looking back and realizing he should have fought harder. Louis at the time didn't realize how much all this would hurt Harry having to share Louis [once again Just a Little Bit of Your Heart is Harry's feelings about that] and its once he's older he realizes what he did to hurt the only one who he ever truly loved and it pains him to know he put his lover through that even if it wasn't Louis fault Harry went through that.
I've been looking back a lot lately me and you is all I've ever known. Oh I can't believe I gave in to the pressure. When they said a love like this would never last. I didn't know no better now I realize yeah I realize.
So similar to before he's saying Harry is all he's ever known and him giving in to the pressure was about agreeing to fake date Eleanor and allow them to be heavily closeted. Reflecting back on those days he regrets so much what he agreed to do. They said a love like this wouldn't last is their management/label not agreeing with them being together and how two boys in a boyband marketed towards young women won't last, they won't sell records as an out gay couple with Louis believing their lies for a bit and he now regrets ever thinking they were right. This is a reflection song of not understanding what he had when he was so young but he sees it clearly now and he will never let THEM win he loves Harry and won't ever let him go ever.
Walls:
These high walls, they came up short now I stand taller then them all. These high walls never broke my soul and I watched them all come fallin down for you.
The high walls he refers to is all the assholes who tried to break him, break Harry and tried to ruin his career out of spite. This is towards the ones who told him they would never succeed being as they are a committed gay couple. Louis for a time believed them when they said their love wouldn't last, no one will want to listen to their music as a gay couple but eventually he realized they were wrong and those walls he had up filling him with doubt and insecurities were broken down. He allowed his "high walls" to come down because Harry was worth the effort it took to bring them down.
So this one is a thank you for what you did to me. Why is it that thank you's are often bittersweet? I just hope I see you one day and you say to me, Oh.
This is what one calls a metaphor he does not mean a physical person he means the walls he had up for a long time making him feel so insecure bc of how some of the people around him that made him feel so worthless crushing his spirt for so long. The metaphorical person he is thanking for helping him become the person he is today is the wall he broke down. The hardships he dealt with when he was younger got him to where he is today.

The because to his question is his lover HERE is where he directly refers to his lover. Harry is someone who is worth fighting for and will always be one of the reasons he hasn't stopped fighting. He loves Harry more then anything and will fight until the day he can publicly hold his hand, publicly post pictures of them together, publicly go on dates and publicly declare his love for him.

Written over and over throughout the song these are some of the most important lines he wrote about Harry. It's Louis way of saying even if he wanted to, even if it would be easier for him and Harry he can never let him go. Harry's version of this is in Adore You when he sings "You don't have to say you love me, you don't have to say nothing and you don't have to say you're mine. I'd walk through fire for you just let me adore you like it's the only thing I'll ever do." Harry is saying even if publicly you can never say you love me I know you do and I will do anything for you because I am madly in love and could never let you go. They both would go through hell along side each other then being partially happy and the other not being by their side. Harry is the only one he ever wants to spend his life with and no matter what hardships they are put through there is no scenario where being without each other is a better alternative.

The line of all lines he took time away bc he was tired of the facade of faking what makes him happy, faking loving some girl, faking being anything but himself. He's back now and knows without a doubt who he is and is proud of it. No more confusion, no more lies he loves a curly haired dimpled boy and no one will tell him he can't love him. Harry's version of this is the chorus of Lights Up "All the lights couldn't put out the dark, runnin' through my heart. Lights up and they know who you are, know who you are. Do you know who you are? They both tell you they have figured out whi they are and are very proud of who they have become and no one will tell them they can't be anything but themselves. They WILL scream it out loud and proud letting everyone know who they love one day [as if 16 and 18 year old H&L didn't already do that.]

Oh the line that shocked every larrie I know. When he first sang this song and we first heard this line at a live concert everyone was shocked because we all knew what their was only one meaning to it. It was such a drastic line that the Elounors tried to claim he sang Starbuck [until the official lyrics came out.] Princess Park is the name of the apartment/flat complex all of the 1D boys lived in after the Xfactor BUT Niall, Liam and Zayn had their own apartment/flat while Louis and Harry shared one and they always made it very clear to everyone they met that they lived together.
So in a love song Louis sings about how him and his lover have come so far since their Princess Park days and his lover will always be the one he needs. Putting Harry's fav love song Sweet Creature plus Louis line about his lover together it would read " And, oh, we started two hearts in one home, come so far [since] princess park. I'll always need you in front of me. Wherever I go you bring me home" you do the math here. Their lyrics sink up just as much as their tattoos do.
Always You:
I went to Amsterdam without you and all I could do was think about you and oh-oh-oh I should've known
The Amsterdam line one of those lines that can be fact checked and proven to not be for Eleanor. So Louis took Eleanor to Amsterdam for her birthday at a gay bar no less back in July/August of 2017. Then a week or two later wrote the song Always You leaking a snippet of it to us where the lines of him singing about how he went to Amsterdam without his lover and his lover was all he could think about were heard. If he went with Eleanor then clearly that isn't his lover but we know this. Fast forward 2020 Walls comes out and we FINALLY hear the full song of Always You.
Louis said he only put the song on the album because the fans wanted it but if it was just because of us and the song wasn't THAT important to him why did he leak those lines back in 2017 that could easily be fact checked that the lover he sings about isn't Eleanor? It's like he wanted us to know it's not for Eleanor this line is important. So the fact that almost 3 years later he still put the song out shows the song means a lot to him and even in 2020 the meaning of the song still resonates with him and how it will Always be THIS one person that means everything to him. Funny though how his loudest, easily fact checkable songs [to not be about Eleanor] are the ones he downplays the most about importance to him.

When it comes to this song the Amsterdam line is Louis speaking [because he went to Amsterdam without Harry] while the Tokyo line is Harry speaking [because Harry went to Tokyo without Louis] and after Harry came back from Tokyo, Japan Louis was seen wearing a ton of new clothes from Japanese clothing brands. This is both of them saying I may be in a wonderful new place but it's not the same without you here. They are sad and alone and would rather be with each other then traveling around the world.

I think this is self explanatory he sees no reason to even think about being with someone else because he knows without a shadow of doubt [thinks he always knew deep down] it was always Harry. There was never going to be anyone else for him but Harry.

LA and London are their two main residences and places they tend to go back and forth a lot. When he "goes home" if Harry is not there Louis feels as though it doesn't really feel like home because home to Louis is wherever Harry is. They can travel all around the world, meet a ton of new people but no place and others will ever make them feel fully satisfied unless their lover is by their side.
Fearless:
Cashin your weekend treasures, for a suit and time a second wife. Now I'm not saying that you could have done better just remember that I, I've seen that fire alight.
The first line is a nod to the industry itself and how to get your "weekend tresures" [be famous and earn a lot of money] you have to put up a fake facade, acting and looking the way they want you to because in their eyes if you are not the conventional person Hollywood wants they believe you will not make them the money they desire because we all know they only care about money nothing else. At a cost of the real them they must put on a fake smile, go out there sing doing nothing unconventional and they will get money and fame.
The second line yes they are happily together and Louis doesn't want or believe Harry will find someone else but he has seen Harry when all of this gets to be to much and when Harry puts up a facade of I've never had an issue with all of this Louis reminds him that I've seen you when your not fine, it's ok to not always be fine and I am here for you when things are not rainbows and sunshine.
Tell me do you still remember feeling young? And strong enough to get it wrong in front of all these people? Just for tonight, look inside and spark that memory of you.
Refering back to Xfactor and early 1D days he's asking Harry if he remembers those days together back when they hadn't really gone through hardships yet and all the strength they had during their youth willing to take on the world together. He's asking him to bring that strength back and remember the younger version of himself. He's asking him to not give up because the younger him wouldn't want him to. It's been 10 years and they are still fighting, fighting as hard as they did when they were merely teenagers not knowing what lied ahead but wer happy as long as it meant they had each other in the end.
Now if happiness is always measured by the life we design, the car on the drive then you should feel better then ever but you know as well as I it's all lies.
This line speaks volumes as stated before with Fearless we have references to the industry and even just life in general. From the outside looking in they got money, fame, material things, they have it all and if deciding who is more happy in life was based on those things then they would win but Louis is telling Harry we both know that isn't the case. The industry isn't sunshine and rainbows, they treat people like shit and strip away everything about a person if they don't think their real self will sell. They only want to make a profit off them and don't care about how they feel about any of it. Everything is a lie the truth must be counseled.
Perfect Now:
You say to me your jeans don't fit, you don't feel pretty and it's hard to miss. I wish you could see my point of view as someone staring back at you.
This song is personally underrated to me I love this song. This song is so uplifting when you are feeling insecure and negative about yourself. Louis personally had a certain curly haired boy in mind when he wrote this. He's talking about Harry's insecurities with himself and Louis wishes Harry could see things from his view and how amazing and perfect Harry is to him.
Cause everybody is looking at you now. I guess some queens don't need a crown and I know why. Even when your tears are following now still someone, you're perfect now.
One of those it's definitely not for Eleanor moments. We all know [especially during fine line era] everyone was talking about Harry, knows his name and eyes turn to him when he walks in the room. Louis is so proud of Harry and is happy everyone else sees what he sees but Harry doesn't always see what others see in him and during those times where he is not already Louis is saying I will be right there with you. I am with you through the good and the bad because even when tears are running down his face Harry is still perfect to Louis.
Cause you're the only one when it's said and done. You make me feel like being someone good to you. Even at your worst you steal the scene.
No matter where life takes them, no matter how hard it gets Louis is reassuring Harry he will always be there by his side. At the end of it all when the final act is over and the curtain is closeting he will still be there because there will never be anyone else he wants to be next to at the end of all of this. Louis looks into Harry's eyes he watches all he does and is intrance wanting nothing more then being the one to be there when he is down and always being the who makes the pain go away even if for a moment.
Defenseless:
I hate to say, but I do we're sleeping on our problems like we'll solve them in our dreams. We walk up early morning and they're still under our sheets.
*Sigh* this is reality setting in things aren't perfect. In their line of work, being who they are, being a closeted gay couple things aren't going to be perfect 100% of the time. Most of the time they would rather ignore all the shit they are forced to indure but Louis realizes just ignoring it all won't make it go away he will wake up each morning next to Harry knowing those issues will always be around by neither fault of their own. He hopes one day they will get to be a happily open couple who posts pics online, goes out on public dates and gets to live the domestic life they always wanted but right now that just isn't their reality. Their reality is I can only look at you for more then 5 seconds or touch you when no one is around to notice.

Another metaphor here Louis wondering how to bring this up to Harry and not upset him. The last thing Louis ever wants is for him to be the reason Harry has a frown upon is wonderful face. Harry is more the one to bottle up and ignore the negative things while Louis is the more practical one and he knows he has a ton to loose [Harry and his love] if he doesn't go about this situation right.
No you don't have to keep on being strong for you and me acting like you feel no pain I know you do. And I can't get inside your head when you're lost in your pride but you don't have a thing to prove.
Harry is the one who bottles up his pain, puts on the fake smiles, and makes everyone believe he is perfectly fine. He acts like he can handle what he is forced to indure 100% of the time but Louis sees through that and just wants him to open up more. He knows Harry feels just as much pain as he does and wishes he wouldn't hide it and pretend everything is always fine. Louis wants to be able to help Harry through the pain and to let know he will always be there for him no matter what so don't pretend your always fine just to make others around him, make Louis feel better.

Louis is tired of pretending, wishes everyone understood, wishes what he is asking for wasn't to much. All he wants is to be loved by Harry and live the domestic life he always invisioned with Harry and no one else but his live is not that simple.

I'm sure you understand Louis is gay but if you didn't this line right here is all you need to understand that. No straight man is going to write or sing those lines. He's gone down a path of self discovery and figuring himself out he knows he is and he is to far gone to turn back now but he has no desire to even if he could turn back. He is proud of who he is and doesn't care what anyone else thinks of him.

It's only hello no goodbyes meaning the confusion, the is this for life between Louis and Harry questions are gone. They aren't turning back, they aren't saying goodbye, they are only saying hello to what lies ahead. The truth is clear, their story is clear, they fell for one another and Harry metaphorical speaking fell for Louis in a way where his star shines brighter then ever just by being with him.

We Made It Directors Cut MV:
If the lyrics alone don't tell you the full story then the music video mini movie should. It sums up everything I explained. Louis being forced to do things he doesn't want, it effecting his relationship to the point their drowning [Harry in Falling MV] but manage to survive. Louis lover never speaking but the girl with ties to the evil one in charge does until eventually Louis breaks free from the man in charge controlling him and Louis finally gets to run away with his lover because he made sure they would make it in the end.
Ending:
Walls is about self discovery, learning to overcome your insecurities "breaking down your walls" no matter how hard it may be and Louis understanding he met the one at 18 and how Harry will always be worth fighting for, THEY will always be worth it bc they knew even as young as they were they were going to get married, have kids and grow old together. So you still want to tell me how any song on Walls is about a break up or Louis moving on from Harry because I certainly don't see it. Walls is Louis perspective on their 10 year relationship and his support and love towards Harry if you want Harry's perspective and his support and love toward Louis you would have to dive into HS and FL but that's a whole other analysis.
They have not given up on each other even if at times it would have been easier they didn't so I will never give up on them. They continue to fight I have been in this fandom supporting them for 10 years watching their continous fight and I will be here another 10 years supporting them if that is how long it takes for them to get the life they knew they wanted when they were only 16 and 18.
