To my surprise people keep joining the stream. Usually it was only my friends and occasionally someone random that watched me play. Space strategy games are not the most audience-friendly. They require you to know a lot about the game mechanics, and they take a long while to play through a full campaign. But all my mates know the game, and are just here to socialize and sometimes provide a tip.

This evening is different though. It had started with some "Lucy333" joining what must have been almost an hour ago. More than 30 minutes for sure. But over the past 10 minutes I've gotten 12 more viewers I think. Suddenly there is a coin sound effect and the chat stream lights up with a donation. $2 from Lucy333 and the text "Hey, spaceboy! Take your shirt off!"

I can instantly feel myself blushing. I'm flattered for a few milliseconds. I'm aware of the streams with girls showing lots of skin to get donations. I've never watched any of them. I'm not even aware of any with boys in them, but I know they exist. "Thanks for the donation, Lucy. This isn't that kind of stream though, clearly." I'm just playing for my mates when we don't feel like meeting up or doing something else. And I know I'm not a looker, though not shockingly ugly like Pete. Honestly, if there wasn't a pandemic going on we would probably do exactly the same thing anyway, playing space strategy and talk Marvel.

There is a flurry of responses from the newcomers in the chat. "Do it! Do it!" says one Donnatrix. "It could be that kind of stream," says fluffy2000. Soon my mates start cheering on as well. It basically turns into a dare. I'm not proud of my body, but I'm not ashamed of it either. It just is. Fuck it. I don't know what I'm going to be teased for more, if I take my shirt off, or if I don't. I reckon if I do what they ask for they have less ground to stand on. I set the game speed to low, say "Ok then", take off my headset, and pull off my T-shirt.

I'm met with a torrent of cheers in the chat. "Now it is that kind of stream," says fluffy. Donnatrix drops $5 and the comment "YAAAASSS". It feels weird. I can't decide if this is a group of sorority girls that randomly and sarcastically sexualize nerds, or if they are genuinely supportive.

"Thank y'all. Now back to trade route 14 to Zephyr-C". My emissary mission hasn't moved far at this speed. I'm about to increase the in-game speed when I get another $2 donation from Lucy. "Spaceboy, keep the game in slow mode and jump over to Heavenly Bodies."

I have no idea what she is talking about, if she even is a she. Her message is instantly met with a wave of support from the other newcomers. At this game speed it would take hours before I need to take any action, and I'm already up a Whopper meal without having done anything, so I reckon I can play whatever they want me to play for a while. Who knew I was that easily bought? "I don't know what that is," I say into my headset.

A few seconds later Lucy sends me a private message with a TinyURL. "This better not mess with my game rig. If it's porn I'll switch back to the game." I say. "It could be that kind of stream too." fluffy offers in the chat. "He could use some porn tbh" my friend Mike responds. I click the link.

The browser loads something that looks like a web game. It's a character creation screen with a faceless, very neutral model on the screen. Looks like those posable figures you use when learning to draw. There are no controls, except a set of buttons that offers you to upload settings, import from Facebook, and similar. I click the Facebook one, click a few approvals, and a progress bar that only lasts a few seconds appears. When it is gone there is a 3D model of me on the screen. "Wow! This looks just like me." Whatever AI they have combing through my online photos managed to get almost everything right. I'm wearing some sort of speedos, but I don't own any, so that part was a miss, but the model looks spot on. "Whatever else they have in the game, I don't think they are going to top this."

A long list of sliders and customizations appear on the screen. It looks like an incredibly detailed character creation screen. I try moving the height controller and is met with a message box saying I'm out of credits, and that I need $10,000 to change my height to whatever I moved it to. Clearly not real money. "I can't change anything". Lucy responded I need to share it. I exit fullscreen on the game and move the browser over to my other screen so everyone on the stream can see. "No, you need to click the share button in the UI and post the link in the chat", Donnatrix writes.

A big gift-wrapped box appears in the corner of the game window. I click it and it presents the text "Hair color and style" with bold letters and below that a text message from Lucy "I think this will be cute on you." I click accept and the 3D model is updated with new hair. It's dark blonde or whatever the oxymoronic name is for it, instead of my usual rat brown hair. It's short on the sides and on top is a big swooping quiff. It looks utterly silly. "Thanks, nice one," I tell the stream. I see a lot of cheers coming in the chat, but I'm a bit perplexed about the "OMYFUCKING GDO!" from Mike. It's just silly hair.

Immediately a new gift box appears on the screen, and soon after a (2) is added on top of it, possibly indicating two gifts waiting. I find it a little bit cute that these girls are essentially playing with paper dolls, but digitally and modeled after someone real. I open the next gift, "Facial Features" from Julia_Awesome. I click accept again, and the doll on the screen is updated. Weirdly it felt like a flash of heat hit me, like those flame effects on concerts. The doll still looks like me, but pretty fictionalized. The face is much sharper, not just less fat, but probably also some bone structure changes as well. It's equally interesting and disheartening, like one of those really good mobile phone filter apps that makes you into a photo model. Makes you understand how unobtainable the Men's Health cover look really is. "Thank you, Julia, but I'm not sure about this look."

I'm ignoring the chat, though I see it is going bananas. I'll have to read that later when the stream is over. I open the next box. Another two has already arrived. This gift is from Donnatrix and is "Core Body", whatever that means. It feels like a gut punch. Perhaps not that, because it doesn't hurt, but it knocks the air out of me. Almost made me fall out of the chair. I'm confused about what is actually happening though because things don't make sense. My body looks deformed. It takes a moment before my brain stops associating what I see with HR Geiger's nightmarish paintings and start to understand what I really see. My body is suddenly a lot leaner and a hell of a lot more stacked than before. Proper abs muscles like a pan of Hawaii rolls.

I look up at the main screen for the first time in what feels like an eternity. The model on the screen looks ripped as well. How stupid can one person be? I turn to the side monitor and look at the window from the webcam. It's me, all new muscles, strong jaw, and a silly quiff on top.

"Hold up! Hold up! Hold up! This is insane! This isn't possible."

"lol, of course not" I see moving by in the chat. I go back to the program. Four more gifts waiting. I look at the model on the screen. I look at the webcam view. "Arms" says the next gift with the text "Promise to flex for me." Well, fuck Zephyr-C and trade route 14.

ok but i love the idea of being mates and always buying/doing things for one another. and its probably one of the earliest ways he realizes he loves you because you definitely don't make anywhere near what he does but you never hesitate to pay for his lunch and you definitely never ask him to pay you back. you just do it without expecting anything in return. or getting him small gifts when you go on vacation to a place he's never been and being like "i thought you would love this"

“I’m feeling— I’m feeling a little queasy,” he says then, with bright spots of color dancing in front of his eyes as he thinks 22.

Suddenly, a bucket gets shoved against his face. He takes hold of it with clammy fingers and he leans on his side so he can... use it. Thoroughly.

“I’m having Garrison flashbacks,” he hears Pidge say.

(Or: Lance is stung by an alien bug, loses his memories temporarily and makes assumptions about his and Keith's relationship. Also, Pidge cheats at Uno.)

He lays there a moment, processing the faint throbbing in his head, a strange bitter taste like lemons in his mouth. When he opens his eyes, the room spins wildly into a kaleidoscope of colors, so he closes them again, breathing in and out until he feels less like he might throw up. He suddenly registers a warm weight over his waist, and lifts his head to see a brown arm thrown over him. It looks startlingly familiar, but different, bigger than he remembers, more toned.

Keith nods. Then shakes his head, then opens his mouth to let out a noisy sob before he’s hugging the air out of Lance, grip vise tight.

Lance hugs him back. That’s one of the great things about him— he doesn’t— he doesn’t need explanations for things like this. He doesn’t make Keith jump through hoops, the way other people might— he’s just— he just knows what Keith needs in times like this. No façades, no posturing.

Megatron – Tyrant

All Megatron has ever wanted is power. It is his means, his motive, and his goal. It was his thirst for conquest that began a four million year war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Now, stranded in a future free of tyranny, Megatron seeks to fill that vacuum and continue his reign of terror. Forced to rebuild his army from the ground up, Megatron relies on his tried and true recruitment tactics, making grandiose speeches disguising his despotism as revolution for the oppressed. Though he’s content to use his eager volunteers to make up numbers in his militia, his smooth talking and honeyed words mask his contempt for what he views as the impure Maximal and Predacon races.

It is said that only the strongest may lead the Decepticons, and Megatron certainly lives up to that reputation. His strength and endurance are unmatched, though he relies on Shockwave to handle anything requiring scientific knowledge or mechanical aptitude. Megatron’s signature weapon, his fusion cannon, interdimensionally siphons power from a black hole to fire concentrated bursts of energy. In destroyer tank mode, he can also use two mounted railguns to fire armour-piercing high velocity projectiles.

Starscream – Dogfighter

During the Great War, Starscream was infamous for his boundless treachery. Always openly planning mutiny on his commanders and bullying his subordinates, this Decepticon air commander had no interests in mind but his own. When his duplicity become too much for his leader, Megatron, he was summarily eliminated. But death did not slow him down. Starscream soon discovered that a mutation in his spark left him invulnerable, beyond the limits of a physical body.

Thanks to this newfound ability to separate his consciousness from his corporeal form, Starscream was the only one among his fellow survivors to escape the sealed Millennia Dome. Adrift and alone for countless years, Starscream has had plenty of time to develop his ghostly powers and plot out his revenge for long-held grudges. Starscream rejoins the Decepticons, having been drawn back to Cybertron by the Dome opening. Megatron permits him to stay because his abilities are an asset and his self-importance intimidates the volunteer Decepticons into obedience.

In his material form, Starscream can exceed speeds of Mach 4 and is armed with null rays and shoulder-mounted cluster bombs. His mutations allow him to render his body intangible and invisible; in addition, he can vacate his body to possess and control another Cybertronian.

Shockwave – Scientist

Hypothesis, experiment, data, conclusion. In Shockwave’s eye, the world around him is a science project; his fellow Cybertronians are as specimens under a microscope. His detached manner is no mere scientist’s affectation: Shockwave feels no camaraderie, or anger, or any emotion; he experiences only unfeeling logical reasoning, and dedication to scientific advancement.

His amoral experimentation led him to the Decepticons; he benefits from lack of oversight from the ethics committee, and Megatron benefits from the development of weaponry and technology.

A gifted technogeneticist, Shockwave’s latest creations are the Immorticons, a horde of unstoppable soldier drones built only to obey the commands of their master. Shockwave’s analytical mind grants him a special connection with the Immorticons; he can assume direct control over multiple units at once for the greatest tactical advantage. In person or remotely, his strategies in battle are uninhibited by restraint or retribution; instead, Shockwave clears a warzone with brutal, mechanical efficiency – and a powerful Neuron Beam of his own design.

Though Shockwave’s greatest strength is his unequalled intelligence, his lack of empathy can leave him blindsided by unexpected emotional responses from allies and enemies alike. He is starting to create contingencies to remove these uncertain variables from the equation…

I struggled getting started on Megatron’s profile. Those first two sentences are cribbed from the box of his GDO toy, and I used them to springboard myself into the rest of the bio. It is important to remind you at this stage that Transtech came out in 2001, and that any resemblance to the modern day political landscape is surely coincidental.

For Megatron’s head, I wanted to keep the general outline of the Transtech concept art and match it with the Sunbow Megatron’s face. The two inscribed M’s on his forehead nod to IDW’s stealth bomber Megatron.

Starscream’s bio here is a bit of a tiptoe through continuity to try and make everything fit in Beast Wars’ established timeline. Being eliminated for his duplicity is supposed to infer his death at Galvatron’s hands during The Transformers: The Movie. By the character’s exit from the Sunbow cartoon in “Ghost in the Machine”, he has been restored to a corporeal body, but in his next appearance in Beast Wars’ “Possession”, he’s just a spark again. Transtech’s backstory, set between these episodes, reconciles this, with his physical form trapped in the Millennia Dome, but his spark being free. After going through transwarp space to reach the Beast Wars era, Starscream is forced to wait 180,000 years to return to his body.

Starscream’s headshot here is based on his Transtech toy hardcopy, minus its mouthplate, but plus a Saren Stone catsmile.

The first portion of Shockwave’s profile is probably my finest bit of prose in this zine, as it really evokes Shockwave’s alien morality and disregard for the people around him.

Starscream aside, Optimus’ resignation and Megatron’s black hole weapon suggest a Marvel Comics G1 history, but Shockwave’s treacherous ambitions are the most overt holdover. As Chris McFeely will tell you, neither major G1 Shockwave was a scientist, with Dreamwave bringing that aspect into his character. Let’s make like Transtech did it first, and Dreamwave copied it. Shockwave’s Neuron Beam takes its name from his handgun in the Siege toyline.

Shockwave’s design plays with his concept art, making certain details resemble bug mandibles and adding circuit patterns to his antennae. His triangular eye is a deliberately edgy departure from his classic appearance, but note how the surrounding area is still an irregular hexagon. Both Shockwave’s and Megatron’s art on this page were only half drawn, then mirror flipped down the middle.

I wrote this 17 years ago. Is the story worth rewriting?

Part One The Gate-room, SGC

"Oh, now you've done it! I can't believe you just zatted Senator Kinsey!" Jack quickly hid the zat-gun behind his back, "Hey, I didn't mean to! How was I supposed to know he'd walk through the door just then... besides, he deserved it! And he probably won't know what hit him anyway." Sam was kneeling next to the unconscious man lying on his back on the Gate-room floor, not very gently slapping his face. "Sir, can you hear me?"

There was no reply and she got up and pointed at her CO. "Well, playing around like that with a zat-gun is like begging for trouble! Geez, Jack. He'll have us deported to P4S-839, or some equally disgusting place, the minute he wakes up!" "How about I just hit him again - twice?" "Jack!" "Alright, alright - but it WAS an accident!" She shook her head. "Are you going to call the infirmary, or should I?" He walked over to the phone on the wall, put the weapon in one of his numerous pockets and dialed the infirmary. The man on the floor stirred and groaned, and Sam kneeled down beside him again. "Are you all right, Sir?" "Major Carter? What the Hell just happened?" The senator rolled over and tried to sit up, but ended up flat on his stomach instead. "Ouch." "I'm afraid you were ahem... um... hit by the electrical charge of one Goa'uld weapon called a zat'nik'tel, Sir. You should feel better in a few moments." "Someone from the infirmary should be here any second now," Jack shot in. Kinsey stared grimly at the colonel. "This was your doing, no doubt... It's exactly what I'd expect from you." Jack took a step back and put his hands up in front of him, as to protect himself from the wrath of his victim. "It was an accident, Senator. I swear!" The doors opened and Dr. Fraiser came through, followed by two men carrying a stretcher. She studied the scene in front of her for a couple of seconds before turning her attention to Kinsey, who finally managed to get up on his feet. Not very gracefully, but at least he was vertical. She raised one eyebrow, and for a second she reminded Jack of Teal'c. "What happened here, Colonel?" --- Ten minutes later, in Gen. Hammond's office "You did what?!?" The general stood up so quickly his chair rolled back three feet before it hit the wall and bounced back. "I kinda zatted Senator Kinsey... It WAS an accident!" Jack was standing in front of the general's desk, hoping that talking to his CO before Kinsey got to him would, at least to some degree, serve as damage control. "You zatted Senator Kinsey..." Hammond echoed, then his eyes widened and he asked, terror in his voice, "...how many times?" Jack cringed, "Oh, just once. He'll be just fine. He's in the infirmary now with Dr. Fraiser and Carter, no doubt planning my court-martial to the last detail." "Then I suggest you get back there and do some serious groveling before he decides to send your ass to P4S-839" with no GDO. Or before I send you there myself." "Yes, Sir." Jack grimaced and bolted for the door. "Colonel..." Jack stopped half way through the room. "Dang it!" he thought, "I almost made it." He turned around slowly. "Yes, Sir...?" "On second thought I'll come with you, Colonel. I have a few ideas I'd like to share with the senator." --- Part two The SGC infirmary Dr. Fraiser had just explained, very patiently, for the n'th time, to the still stunned, and extremely noisy senator, that he would recover completely from the shock, and that she had never heard of anyone dying from a single blast. She was about ready to give him a mild sedative just to shut him up (or perhaps a not so mild laxative to get rid of him instead - ah, decisions, decisions...), when O'Neill and Hammond entered the room. The look on Hammond's face was quite easy to decipher, and Jack looked like he'd been lead by his ear from the general's office. "Poor Jack," she thought. "Why didn't he just zat the guy a couple more times... I'd have been home with Cassandra by now!" She sighed and began walking towards them, "General, Colonel... I take it you're here to see the senator?" "How is he?" The general's expression changed from annoyed to concerned. "Oh, he's fine. There"s nothing wrong with him... physically." she threw a fierce glance in the direction of her only patient. Then she smiled, "In fact, I was just about to release him." "Thank you, Dr. Fraiser." Hammond nodded, his relief obvious. Then he turned to Jack; "Well, Colonel?" Jack raised his hands, "I know" "Get groveling". Don't worry, I'll grovel, I'll beg, I'll even kiss and make up if that's what he wants." The Doc raised her eyebrow again and Jack had another vision of Teal'c. "Sweet. If I didn't know better I'd say it was contagious." He walked across the room, pulled up a chair, and sat down next to the senator, who was none too happy to see him... "Senator." "Colonel." "Listen, it really WAS an accident! I had no idea you were entering through that door, and I really didn't mean for the zat to go off..." The senator waved him off, "Of course you didn't. Don't worry about it. Accidents do happen, and according to the good doctor, I"ll be just fine." The speech was followed by a broad smile that made Kinsey's dentures slip. With a smacking sound he sucked them back in place. Jack just sat there staring at him, mouth still open. He slowly raised one eyebrow, Teal'c style. He felt a sudden urge to ask the senator who he was and what he'd done with Kinsey, but managed to close his mouth before the words came out. He cleared his throat. "Are you sure about this, Sir?" "Absolutely. Like I said, don't worry about it." "Well, thank you, Sir." Jack couldn't have been more surprised if Sam had jumped up from the nearest bedpan, wearing something out of Anise's closet and doing the Snoopy-dance on the senator's bed. "I suppose you need to rest. I'll leave you alone now... and again, I apologize..." He got up, put the chair back where he found it and returned to where Hammond and Dr. Fraiser were waiting. The general prompted him, "How did it go, Colonel?" "Oh, I apologized, he accepted. No problem, General." Hammond stared blankly at the colonel, before slowly raising one eyebrow. "Oh my God. It IS spreading!" Jack thought. "I better talk to the senator myself!" Hammond said and started walking towards the bed where Kinsey now had turned his back to them. They could hear a soft snoring sound. "Um... He's resting, Sir." The general turned to Janet. "Can you keep him here till morning? I'd really like to talk to him before he leaves." "Yes, Sir. My shift was over two hours ago, but I'll let the night nurse know you want to see the patient before he's released." "Thank you, Doctor." Hammond turned around and left the infirmary. Jack followed two steps behind, still wondering about the personality change the senator seemed to have undergone since their last encounter. "Perhaps Janet slipped and screwed up his medication? Or maybe the zat could have affected the metal plate in his head?" He shook his head. At least he didn't end up with a one-way ticket to the universe's largest garbage dump... --- Twenty minutes later Dr. Fraiser had left the night nurse in charge of the infirmary, and was on her way home. The night nurse was in the linen closet, entertaining the new, cute lieutenant. Jack was in his bunk, on top of the covers, fully dressed and sound asleep. And, Senator Kinsey was in his hospital bed, very much awake, and reading a book by the light of his glowing eyes. --- Part three The next morning, Daniel's office "You must be kidding me!" Daniel laughed. "You zatted Senator Kinsey? Seriously?" He removed his glasses and dried tears of laughter from his eyes. "I don't believe you! If you really had zatted the senator you'd be on P4S-839 now, building your new home out of cardboard boxes and empty cans." his voice trailed off. "Oh my God! How many times did you hit him?" "Just once! He's fine. And that's what I thought too..." Jack nodded. "Listen Daniel, something is wrong. Really wrong. I just can't put my finger on it." "There is a problem?" Teal'c came through the door, grabbed the TV Guide from Daniel's desk and let himself fall into the dusty armchair next to the wooden table thingy that was a gift from one of the kids on Abydos. "Oh no! That termite-ridden thing is still here? Half the base must be infested by those hungry critters by now." Jack rolled his eyes and sighed silently. "Well?" Teal'c tried again. "Well what?" "Is there a problem?" Teal'c repeated. Daniel explained; "Jack zatted senator Kinsey last night." Then he cracked up again. Teal'c raised one eyebrow and stared at Jack. "You fired a zat'nik'tel at the senator? How many times?" "Just once. Why does everyone keep asking me that? And it was an accident!" "Of course, O'Neill. You would never purposely have subjected the senator to such excruciating pain..." In the background Daniel let out another loud burst of laughter. Teal'c continued. "How did this accident happen, O'Neill"" "Carter and I were target practicing in the Gate room..." Daniel stopped laughing and he and Teal'c simultaneously raised their right eyebrows. "Scary!" Jack thought. "I have to talk to Janet about this!" "We were shooting at those dang grasshoppers the two of you brought back from EMT-911 last week, all right!?!" "You use zat-guns for that?" Daniel asked unbelievingly. "Saves us the trouble of sweeping them up afterwards..." Jack explained. "Oh..." "I see..." "Anyway, I guess I got a little too excited, and when the doors suddenly opened and the senator walked in the zat-gun sort of just went off." "Right." "These things are known to happen, O'Neill." Jack wanted to strangle them both and spent a few seconds considering his options. Knowing the chance of escape was too slim for comfort he decided to get his revenge at a later time. "Seriously. I'm not kidding, guys! Something is terribly wrong here." He continued to explain what had happened in the infirmary. Daniel finally quit laughing and sat down behind his desk. "You're right, Jack. It's not like Kinsey to forgive someone for something like that. Especially not you." Jack leaned against the wall and let himself slide down until he was sitting on his heels. He closed his eyes and let his head back against the wall. "I know." His eyes opened again and he looked at his friends. "At first I thought it was the shock, but we've never seen that happen before. And then I thought perhaps Dr. Fraiser had put him on some weird medication or something... and then I thought he might have been taken over by a Goa'uld, but Carter touched him in the Gate-room, and she didn't sense anything." Teal'c offered dryly; "I stopped by the infirmary before coming here, and if that single patient in the back of the room is the senator, then Samantha Carter wouldn't have sensed it if he'd been taken over by Apophis himself." He explained; "That after-shave he is wearing kills all of ones senses. I could smell it in the hallway long before I reached the infirmary. And the door was closed." Daniel, who had been removing his shoes and socks, dug in his desk drawer and finally came up with a nail clipper... "Where would the senator have encountered a Goa'uld?" Jack and Teal'c watched in silence as Daniel placed one foot on his desk and turned his attention back to his toenails. Soon crescent-shaped nail clippings were flying through the air. Jack swallowed. "Let's finish this conversation later," he said and got up. "I need some fresh air." Teal'c beat him through the door by almost two seconds. --- Part four

The SGC infirmary When Dr. Janet Fraiser arrived at the infirmary later that morning the night nurse appeared to have gone AWOL. Luckily the only patient, the senator, was still asleep and seemed to be in good shape. After checking the linen closet for sleeping beauties, Janet reported her nurse missing and turned on her computer. Soon she was lost in the fantasy world of "Fallout", her new computer game. "Weird," she thought. "That mayor, Killian, reminds me of someone I know, I just can't place him... Oh well, it'll come to me." At the same time SG-1 reported to general Hammond in his office, where they gathered around the conference table. Before she could get that far his eyes began to glow, he grabbed her around the neck, and the next second she found herself being used as a shield between the unknown Goa'uld and her friends who all seemed to have frozen in their positions. Finally Hammond sounded the alarm and called for security. --- Part five Hammond, Doc. Fraiser and the three male members of SG-1 could only watch as the Goa'uld backed away from the bed, still holding Sam in front of him as a human shield. "You will learn to fear it, shol'va! But, I did go by a different name. I changed it only because of a chant that I have heard many times. One that seems to have become stuck in my head." Now Teal"c raised his eyebrow, but the other people in the room nodded in understanding. Suddenly there was a lot of noise coming from the hall and forty-five soldiers came running into the infirmary, armed to their teeth. They took their positions and aimed their nice and shiny MP-90's at the Goa'uld and his hostage. "Don't shoot!" Jack and Hammond shouted, and waved their hands in the air. "Tau'ri, this is your last chance. I am not saying it again! Kneel before your God or suffer the consequences!" Sam croaked; "Hey, I'll kneel. Just let go of my neck, will you." Jack turned and faced his CO. "You know, General, there is one thing I have learned from our battles with the Goa'uld... When you have the chance to take them out, DO IT! Don't wait, don't try to small talk with them, and don't bother pumping them for information. Just kill them!" Every head in the room turned to look at the colonel. Hammond raised one eyebrow. "May I remind you, Colonel, that this particular Goa'uld is using a member of your team as a shield and is ready to slit her throat..." Jack shrugged. "Oh, that... Yes, I'm aware of that." He met Sam's eyes and now it was her turn to raise an eyebrow. "Damn you, Jack! You better not be thinking what I think you're thinking!" He gave her a glimpse of a smile, then he said, with no detectable sorrow in his voice; "I'm sorry, Carter!" "Oh my God!" Sam closed her eyes. "I'm gonna kill you for this! ...Sir." Suddenly Jack produced a zat-gun from one of his numerous pockets. He aimed it at the Goa'uld and it's hostage, and in the millisecond before he fired he could see Macarena raise one eyebrow in surprise. If he had turned around he would have seen all the other people in the room doing the same thing. He fired the zat-gun and Carter and Macarena fell to the floor. Teal'c quickly pulled Sam away from the Goa'uld as Jack zatted it a second time. You could have heard a falling needle when Hammond walked up to Jack. He cleared his throat. "Nice shooting, son. Now can you please tell me how I will explain this to the President?" "I could zat him again..." Hammond stared at him and Jack swallowed. "Um... I guess that's not an option." They were suddenly interrupted when the bathroom door was opened from the inside. All the forty-five soldiers fell back in position and aimed their weapons at the door. The missing night-nurse cautiously stuck her head out and asked Doc. Fraiser in a thin voice. "Is it safe to come out now?" --- The next day Jack and Sam were back in the Gate-room, trying to get rid of the remaining grasshoppers and all their new children... This time Jack had put a sign on the door. It read: Stay out! That's an order! They had stunned, killed and disintegrated about half a zillion grasshoppers and could now almost identify the color, or lack of color, on the walls. Still there were enough insects in the air around them to make it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead. Sam was just getting ready to pay the colonel back for the brilliant way he had saved her. She pointed the zat-gun, took a deep breath and... Suddenly the doors opened and a human figure appeared, only to get knocked to the floor, surrounded by blue sparks. "Oh no, not again..." "For crying out loud! Doesn't anyone read signs around here?" Sam walked over to the man and bent down. He was lying on his stomach and she rolled him over to see his face. "It's lieutenant-colonel Samuels, Sir." She checked for a pulse. "And he's dead, Sir." "WHAT?" Jack shouted. "No way! I only hit him once." "Well, Sir... um... so did I..." They looked at each other. Jack groaned. "I guess we'd better inform the general." "Inform the general of what?" The door opened again, Hammond stepped through it, and almost stumbled on the dead body. He looked down and recognized the man. "Is he okay?" Sam cleared her throat, "Eh... no, Sir. He's dead." Hammond raised one eyebrow and looked from one to the other. "Geez! I didn't know the general could do that." Sam thought. Jack shrugged again, "Hey, don't look at us! We only zatted him once..." "...Each." Sam finished. Hammond closed his eyes. "I'm too old for this shit!" He held his hand out. "May I have your weapon, major?" Sam handed the zat-gun to the general. "Dang it! I should have known Samuels would be the end of our careers." She was completely unprepared for what happened next. The general pointed the zat-gun at Samuels' lifeless body and fired. --- In the control room Teal'c and Daniel exchanged glances. "Now THAT'S what I call getting rid of the evidence." One Italian out of ten law ebook, the IEA estimates the effect of Amazon and the Kindle in the Beautiful Country – Macity (Blog)

In fact, from the point of view of reading, all know, the IEA is anticipating the data that will be presented officially tomorrow in the final day of the thirty-fourth Seminar of the School for the Librai Umberto and Elisabetta Mauri of Venice, the reading score overall by 3.1% compared to 2015 (by 24,051 million readers, down to 23,300 million in 2016), after +1.2% in the previous year. Readers strong, remain stable, while the decline especially affects the readers light and casual ones.

due To the policy of non-disclosure of the data, it is difficult to detect the actual weight of Amazon on the Italian market. We tried the IEA putting together different sources. According to the association of Italian publishers, if you add the estimate of the possible value of Amazon in Italy (about 120 million just for the physical book of change) in 2016 the total turnover of the market of paper books gets about 1,337 billion. It is a value of approximately € 100 million lower compared to the years 2010 and 2011, when Amazon had just arrived in Italy. Fall instead the sold copies, that stop 86.4 million in 2016 (Nielsen data), a value that rises to 87.5 million if you add also those sold by bookshops and points of sale small and "marginal".
