Pictured practice poi from Fyrebyrd Flow Arts. Today I got up and walked about 1.5 miles according to Google. I walked from house up to Cherokee down Cherokee a few blocks and back. I did this while spinning poi the whole time. This was inspired by Juggling Jeff who used to post his running laps while juggling the whole time. I'm not up to that level of juggling but I can do while spinning poi. This did a few things. It gave me a full body work out while I am still mending my bum ankle and two People leave you the F alone when you are constantly twirling 3-foot projectiles all around you. People are not going to get close if they think they might get hit. *evil Grin* Plus exercising with a weapon *even if its not on fire ;( * is incredibly empowering. I started doing this a few years ago as a way to maintain spinning endurance and agility. If you can navigate an urban obstacle course while running and spinning poi it is going to make your performances much more fluid. Plus it trains you not to be a tree stump spinner. So if you are a spinner I challenge to take you poi for a walk or even a run. Recently Acquired. I got this at the WFMU Record Fair for $25. This has some great songs I haven’t heard before and some nice versions of ones I have heard. You just can’t go wrong with this guy. I’m definitely padding my collection with this one, as my initial Gene Clark freakout drove me to buy most of his other stiff, including with Dillard, Gosdins, Carl Olsen, whatever. Fyrebyrd is next!
