I really do think this is absolutely my favourite historical costume... look at those boots 🔥, the whole thing is a work of art. I also love the vest variation. Ray Holman out did himself and Mandip looks incredible as Yaz in it. Flux is Yaz's best costume season easily.

the terrifying moment of realization when talking to a self proclaimed Leftist when you can immediately tell “oh. this person has never done an hour of community service in their life.” like. i know it’s been said before but your politics truly do not matter if you’re not interacting with your community in any way. you can vote in every single election and it will not have a fraction of the impact of 17 year old tyler who got sentenced to 20 hours of picking up litter and weeding the community garden. you can never once vote out of protest and read piles of theory and not come close to making the change that the group of 80 year old catholic ladies at St. Mary’s on the corner do with their weekly community meals and school supply drives. we live in the rotting corpse of an evil empire. ideas mean fucking nothing. the only thing that matters at all is physically extending a hand to try to help the people around you.

I think you're literally the only Portuguese I ever saw on Tumblr
So I came for information
I'm going in Erasmus there (I wanted Italy but they didn't have a spot for me rip) and I need to know what's it like there. If it help with anything, I'm going to Coimbra? FLUC?
Parties? Pubs? Are yall nice? Do I have to worry about being harassed by middle aged men in the street?
Oh my fucking God
You are literally coming to my faculty! The chance of us crossing paths when you come is up to 80%! That's insane!
Okay okay, focus
I've lived with people from Erasmus so I think I can help
We have a group here of Portuguese people that "collects" all the people from Erasmus and programs stuff for yall to do like bar nights, clubbing, games etcetera. My old flatmates used to go to all of the events and they loved it
There are parties literally all the time here. We have 3 main clubs. One of them is specifically for Erasmus students (but anyone can go, really) and I've heard it's super fun - I'm not a club person, so eh can't help much there. My friends used to go almost every night tho
Pubs is much more my area
The main pub we used to have closed due to ✨️illegal activities ✨️ but we have a shit tone more
I usually go to the Irish pub uptown. It's hella classy and the prices are good. Got live music most of the time and ya can have lunch/dinner there also if you want
I can literally give you a map of all the Irish pubs in the city. Ive been to all of them and they are all top notch 5 stars
Also, I imagine you are coming next semester? In the first semester we have this festival called Latada. We get a week free of classes and it's literally a 1 week party with concerts. People go a bit mad there. Mainly because it's cool as shit ngl. Get ready to get Portuguese and Brazilian music stuck in your head
People from FLUC are nice. We are the letters and languages faculty so we are used to foreigners all the time. Everyone speaks English there. And we are the freaks of the university! My faculty is the one where all the queers and gays are! Listen, there's literally this cute girl I see all the time that dresses herself Lolita style. Where else would you see that? Only fluc
If you ever need any help, anyone will try and help you
Our streets are pretty safe. Sure, there's the occasional creep, but it's very rare. Just be careful with drunk college dudes. If you do go out, take trusted people with you that can have your back just in case
Alas, I won't ask you to show yourself, but if you need any help while you're around, hit me up. If you want me to know who you are, dm me. If not, send an anon ask again and I'll try to get to you as soon as I see it
Getting a house here can be a nightmare (even for us portuguese) and I might be able to help you with that. Depending on your course I might also be able to hook you up with files with all the summaries of your classes

Have any of you guys broken a bone? (Ngl I feel like Jimmy has prob broken a few hehe)
"Many. My nose more times than I can count, my arm once when I was a kid, several ribs from when I was Elven, my leg which didn't heal correctly- now there's a constant twinge of pain that flu- fluc- fluctuates? Changes. It's constantly there though. Um, several of my fingers- yeah me and broken bones visit eachother unfortunately often. They heal fast because of healers! But it's also just generally annoying and painful." "I've broken my arm once or twice- and I broke my wing once. That was painful. But I don't think I've broken anything else?" "Cory and I fractured our arms once when we were teenagers because they thought it was a good idea to climb real high on something. Other than that, no." green is scar, orangr is jimmy, red is scott

Magical Entropy - Chronic Condition Concept
Manifestation of Magic Entropy - MME
A rare magical illness developed when a child first develops their magic energy. This illness causes a person's magic energy to be unstable and cause their magic energy to fluctuate to levels where the body may be unable to contain it. While these types of massive fluctuations are rare, they are fatal. There is no 'cure' for MME, only ways to reduce & channel the fluctuations. Most of these methods are pendants created to control magic flow and storage, and special medicines that can directly inhibit or increase magic energy to keep levels stable. While both options help to massively decrease the possibility of a fatal fluctuation, they can still occur.
Symptoms / Side-effects - common symptoms of MME are dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath, and chest pains. Symptoms vary depending on fluctuation severity.
OFA (Omega Flux Attack): when the magic energy level dips to extreme amounts. Levels can fall below average and below what the body is normally used to, and in extreme cases, decrease the level enough that the body's normal energy system is tapped into to compensate. Considering the nature of magic energy, it takes a lot of "normal" energy to make up what magic energy is lost. In severe cases, cause short term coma and even bodily failure due to lack of proper energy to fuel necessary systems.
Symptoms of a decrease/lower flucs - lack of energy, dizziness, lightheadedness, lack of awareness, increased susceptibility to illness, fainting, increased hunger, weaker body control.
AFA (Alpha Flux Attack): when the magic energy in a person's body climbs and exceeds what the body can currently handle. If severe, can cause extreme fluctuations and cause a death similar to that of a heart attack or stroke. Same as Omega Attacks, symptoms can vary depending on severity.
Symptoms of an increase/higher flucs- headaches, increased chest pain, muscle aches, coughing (blood if severe), shortness of breath, trouble breathing, nausea.
Attacks & treatments - MME flux attacks can occur at random, & vary in intensity. Ways to treat attacks involve deep, controlled breathing & magic channeling. In case of an OFA, place hands deep breaths & stop moving as much as possible until it ends. In cases of AFA, the best course of action is to expel as much energy as possible, by channels through matter or pure release, and use as much energy before it can cause a bodily reaction. Or have an item or medicine to sap the energy away as quickly as possible to keep it from overflowing.
Medicines are rare since the condition is extremely rare and documentation is limited. However, current medicines are a series of potions that can increase, decrease, and stabilize a person’s magical energy reserves. Usually, the ones increasing and decreasing energy are taken when necessary to treat the appropriate symptom. The stabilizing potion is taken daily to hopefully keep the chances of an extreme fluctuation attack low. However, it is not perfect and extreme fluctuation attacks can occur. ((This is the condition I made up for Alan and wanted to share since I think it's a fun one))
