Brennan Johnson's first international goal earned Wales a dramatic point against Belgium in the Nations League at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Ethan Ampadu thought he had given Wales the lead early on when he fired an effort into the top corner, only for VAR to rule an offside in the build-up.
Belgium missed a number of first-half chances, but finally broke the deadlock when Youri Tielemans' calm effort into the bottom right corner beat the returning Wayne Hennessey.
Rob Page turned to his bench for a spark, and found it in Johnson and Rubin Colwill, who injected a new lease of life in Wales.
And the Nottingham Forest winger was on hand to calmly roll home Wales' equaliser with five minutes remaining after a beautiful assist from Aaron Ramsey.
The linesman initially ruled the goal offside, but this time VAR was on Wales' side, as Johnson was adjudged to be just onside.
The draw is a first point in the top tier of the Nations League for Wales, who suffered defeats by Poland and the Netherlands previously.
Wales started the brightest and thought they had taken the lead after five minutes.
Neco Williams' cross to Joe Rodon eventually fell to Ampadu on the edge of the area, who hammered the ball into the top corner - only for VAR to correctly rule the goal out for offside.
Belgium threatened next, Leicester City midfielder Tielemans arrived late into the area after nice work by Thomas Meunier and Michy Batshuayi, but Hennessey clawed the effort away.
The frenetic pace with which the game started continued, Gareth Bale the next to go close when he turned Dan James' low cross just around Koen Casteels' post.
It took 25 minutes before the pace finally dropped, but Yannick Carrasco tested Hennessey with a first-time effort at the back post after Kevin de Bruyne's cross sailed over everyone.
And it was the Atletico Madrid winger who was played in behind the Welsh defence by Tielemans minutes later, only for Ben Davies to recover and make a crucial block.
At the other end Connor Roberts headed Joe Allen's cross over at the near post, the move proving to be the last involvement in the game for the midfielder who walked slowly down the tunnel, replaced by Ramsey.
Burnley full-back Roberts had Wales' best chance of the first half minutes later.
An attempted clearance by Meunier ricocheted off the head of his own player straight to Roberts eight yards from goal in the centre of the box, but he never gained full control and eventually shot wide of the left upright.
Belgium really should have gone into the break ahead, as Leandro Trossard missed a chance the whole ground expected him to score.
De Bruyne found a huge pocket of space in midfield to drive into the Welsh half and played Batshuayi into the 18-yard box, but as is becoming a common theme in Welsh football matches, Davies was there to block the initial effort.
However, the rebound bounced across the box to an unmarked Trossard who had the whole goal to aim for, only to turn his effort wide of the left post.
The final chance of the half fell to De Bruyne, who caught everyone out with a long-range effort, but Hennessey got down smartly to turn the ball around his near post.
The warning signs were there in the first half, and as on Wednesday against the Netherlands, it took just five minutes for the visitors to open the scoring after the break.
Wales staff boycott Qatar World Cup over gay rights
As it happened and reaction: Wales 1-1 Belgium
A lovely move started down the Belgian right saw De Bruyne link up well with Trossard, the Brighton man fed Batshuayi and the Chelsea striker showed great composure to lay the ball off for Tielemans to strike into the bottom corner.
Belgium came close to doubling the lead minutes later when Carrasco's deft touch almost turned the ball goal-bound, but instead it rolled agonisingly wide.
As they did against the Dutch, Wales responded well to going behind, Rodon found himself with a yard of space on the edge of the Belgian box, but blasted his effort high and wide.
The introduction of Nottingham Forest's Johnson, in place of Bale, brought renewed energy to the Welsh attack, and the winger almost set up Ramsey for a tap in, but his cross was turned behind for a corner.
Johnson, James and substitute Colwill drove the hosts on in the final 15 minutes, backed by loud renditions of Wales' adopted football anthem 'Yma O Hyd'.
Wales almost levelled with six minutes left as Ramsey's free-kick was floated perfectly for Joe Rodon, but the stooping Spurs defender could only head over.
Less than a minute later it looked like VAR could deny Wales once more.
Neco Williams and Colwill combined well in the middle of the field before the Liverpool wing-back played a through ball to Ramsey.
Ramsey looked like he'd lost possession but back-heeled the ball to Johnson, who calmly curled the ball in at the far post, a goal which stood after a lengthy VAR check.
Unlike on Wednesday night against the Netherlands, Wales held on to secure a first point in the top tier of the Nations League.
Wales manager Rob Page said: "We ended up with three 10s on the pitch trying to get the goal, and thankfully it worked.
"We're a constant thorn in teams' sides, we've proved that time and time again against world class opposition.
"There's a lot of positives to come out of the game."
Belgium manager Roberto Martinez said: "It was what we expected, very competitive, and a game where the crowd played a big part.
"But I'm very confused, I've seen the images [of the offside decision for Wales' goal], I cannot explain how the goal is allowed to stand, he looks totally offside.
"When I look at the images, it does not look right, we need an explanation from the VAR committee on how it works because the lines are not parallel to the 18-yard box."

Science Fiction New Releases: 20 April, 2019
The titans of military science fiction rise to duel with mecha and starships in this week’s new release roundup.
Absolution (Blood Runners #1) – George S. Mahaffey Jr. and Justin Sloan
In a futuristic New Chicago where justice is meted out via a barbaric system called Absolution, you can either level up or check out.
Nobody knows this better than Marisol, a super-powered tracker whose job involves hunting down “Runners,” people who’ve been paid bounties to become suspects in crimes committed by the wealthy.
On the verge of becoming the city’s premier Hunter, she stumbles upon a young Runner who holds the key to a conspiracy that could topple New Chicago’s dictator–and threatens everything she’s ever believed in.
“It’s a little bit Hunger Games with a touch of Running Man and just a sprinkle of Ready Player One.”–Amazon Reader Review
Armor World (Undying Mercenaries #11) – B. V. Larson
In a twist of fate that rocks the Galactic Empire, James McGill finds himself negotiating the future of a thousand inhabited worlds.
An artificial object made of compressed stardust is barreling toward Earth. Is it an invasion ship? A doomsday weapon? Perhaps it’s the final response of Squanto, the Warlord of Rigel who McGill has repeatedly humiliated. Or could it be from the Mogwa, sent to avenge McGill’s assassination of Earth’s Imperial Governor?
No one knows the truth of its origins, but the object is huge and unstoppable. Whoever hurled this rock at us isn’t answering our calls. Every weapon bounces off, and the people of Earth begin to go mad as they realize their destruction is only hours away.
The Colossus (Blood on the Stars #12) – Jay Allan
The Hegemony strikes again…
The Confederation and its allies have won their first victory, retaken their capital from he forces of the Hegemony. But the enemy is not beaten, far from it, and they are back, with an unstoppable weapon, a vast superbattleship, a deadly hybrid of imperial and Hegemony technology, called the Colossus.
The great ship is enormously powerful, nearly unstoppable, and in its armored depths it hides a secret, another Hegemony weapon, one that will change the dynamic of the entire war. One that will challenge Admiral Barron, and his officers and spacers, to the greatest test they have ever faced.
The battle for the Rim has reached its climactic stage, but even as the Hegemony moves forward to claim victory, an old enemy, a terror from the distant past, is about to return…and change everything.
Dropship (Forsaken Mercenary #1) – Jonathan Yanez
If they can’t control him.
They’ll try and kill him.
Daniel Hunt is the deadliest mercenary in the galaxy if he can just remember. Five years before he woke up with nothing more than his name. Now his present is on a violent collision with his past and the future of the galaxy.
The Earth is dead. Humanity has taken to the moon and Mars to have a chance. On what’s left of Earth primal gangs war for dominance.
A rebel force will discover a weapon of unimaginable strength, the wealthy in the galaxy will do anything to possess. As Daniel unravels the origin of his past he’ll realize he’s not the same weapon he once was. But does redemption exist for someone like him?
Dust of the Deep (Wings of Earth #2) Eric Michael Craig
Some runs pay better than others … Especially when there are pirates involved.
After almost losing his Shipmaster’s licenses, Captain Ethan Walker takes on three new crewmembers and the first job that will get him back into space. He realizes en route that the supplies and personnel they’re carrying make the ship a prime target for pirates. It’s too late. He has no option but to complete the run regardless of the danger.
Things get worse for the Olympus Dawn when they make a one hundred light-year detour to pick up an archaeologist who knows their actual destination, only to find that someone has kidnapped her.
While they’re waiting for instructions from the archaeologist who hired them, Walker learns that Captain Kendrick Jetaar will stop at nothing to capture their cargo. Captain Walker must escape the ruthless pirate lord before he and his crew become casualties in a war he didn’t know existed.
Fortunately, the load pays exceptionally well, if only he can survive to collect.
Earth Aflame (Earthrise #11) – Daniel Arenson
The Singularity has come. The machines have risen.
Our robots, once loyal servants, now slaughter us. Our cars, planes, and starships have become machines of death. Cyborgs roam the land, deforming humans, growing their twisted army.
Is a heartless, mechanized hell our future?
A faint hope shines. Heroes still fight. Famous names. Einav. Marco. Addy. Lailani. The heroes of the Alien Wars. Names etched in our history, in our hearts. Four friends. Four humans . . . against an army of metal.
A shadow has fallen. Humanity must shine brighter than ever before.
Gott Mit Uns (Terran Strike Marines #5) – Richard Fox and Scott Moon
Terran Strike Marines fight for victory. No matter the odds. No matter the cost.
The final battle against the Kesaht begins.
Lieutenant Hoffman and the exhausted Marines of Valdar’s Hammer are called upon to make a desperate assault against the enemy’s home world. But the foe is prepared, and their planet is a death trap.
While the Strike Marines fight for their lives, the fabled ship Breitenfeld remains captured by the Ibarra Nation, and the Ember War hero Valdar languishes in a cell. The ship and her captain are held on a strange world of the Ibarra’s design, and only the Hammers can free them.
Hoffman and his Strike Marines have fought from the icy wastes of Koen, to the jungles of Eridu, and even deep into the heart of a shattered moon, but their final mission will demand a price in blood.
The Lost Supernova (Lost Starship #10) – Vaughn Heppner
Androids used to mingle among us, pretending to be human. Then an alien puppet-master altered their programming. Unknown to us, androids began leaving human society, burning their clothes and peeling off their skin to reveal the chrome-colored bodies underneath.
They gathered in a system were a star had exploded, blowing away the atmosphere of a Jupiter-like planet. The supernova had hurled heavy metals against the remaining core. The androids are mining supermetals that can turn ordinary ship weapons and shields into invincible armaments.
The altered programming includes human genocide, which will start with a murderous attack on Earth.
Luckily, Captain Maddox finds the enemy system. But during a space battle, something happens to hurl Victory thousands of light-years away into the Scutum-Centaurus Spiral Arm. The crippled starship will take years to reach home again. Long before that, Earth will be a radioactive ruin.
Now begins a desperate journey in hostile space that will stretch everyone as Maddox strains to reach the Lord High Admiral in time with knowledge about the coming android attack.
With Your Shield (Four Horsemen Tales #10) – Chris Kennedy and Alex Rath
Come back with your shield…or on it!
Staff Sergeant Markus ‘Spartan’ Nicolos is one of the Intelligence Department’s best. A hacker who can beat any code, he’s in charge of communications intercepts for the Golden Horde’s Computer Operations section. When people can’t break a code, they bring in Spartan.
It wasn’t always this way, though. Spartan used to be a frontline CASPer pilot—someone who could be counted on to get the job done and bring the squad home safely…until he lost his entire squad in an ambush. He also lost his edge in the attack, and he swore he would never pilot a CASPer in combat again.
Everything changed, though, when he came up with an idea for a new type of scout CASPer—one that would prevent what happened to him from ever happening again. He’s been given a mech to convert and a team to help him bring his idea to reality. And he’s been given a chance to test it out on a Golden Horde deployment.
But in the time immediately before the events of the Omega War, forces are already moving behind the scenes, and nothing is as it seems…and they’re bringing along Spartan’s combat mech—which he said he’d never pilot in combat again—just in case.

Blog #2: Images and Words by Ethan Gwinn
Tumblr media
stahl house, los angeles, pierre koening, 1950, julius shulman, photographer
The Stahl House is perfectly cropped on a steep hillside over Los Angeles. Its edges are sharp, yet seem to flow endlessly into the city. Its large glass walls throw the house out over the city while also bringing the city straight into the living room. Its square edges seem to mirror the city blocks below perfectly and make the house become one with the surrounding landscape. While I love that the windows make the space seem much larger, the edges of the house are too perfect making the house lack character and seem unnatural.
Tumblr media
Christmas Morning on the Merced, Yosemite National Park, 2016, Leah Horstman, Photographer
In contrast to the first image, this photo encapsulates nature and only nature. There are very few, if any, straight edges or lines. From the snow to the cliffs, the edges are rounded and jagged throughout. Perfect imperfection as some may call it. This image shows that complete randomization and imperfections can create architectural beauty in our built environment. I love the raw and rugged landscape opposed to the organized flow that can be found in the first image.

Gold Coast 2018: Amusan makes history as Nigeria win four more gold
•Adekuoroye, others lift team to eighth on medals table
Idris Adesina
Team Nigeria climbed to the eighth position from their previous 11th position on the medals table of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games after the country amassed four gold medals on Friday in athletics and wrestling.
While Tobi Amusan and Suwaibidu Galadima added two gold medals in athletics, Odundayo Adekuoroye and Blessing Oborududu won two gold medals in wrestling to take the country’s medal haul to 18 – eight gold, five silver and five bronze – at the end of events on Friday. Three bronze medals were also won in boxing and wrestling.
Amusan also made history as she became the first Nigerian female hurdler to win gold at the Games. The 2015 All Africa Games gold medallist won the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.68secs to claim her first Commonwealth Games gold for Nigeria.
In the men’s T47 100m final, para-athlete Galadima ran the race of his life to win in a time of 11.04secs.
Having won silver and two bronze on Thursday in wrestling, Glasgow 2014 gold medallist Adekuroye became the first wrestler to win gold for Nigeria at the Games after she defeated India’s Pooja Dhanda 7-5 in the final of the 57kg category of the women’s freestyle.
Glasgow 2014 bronze medallist Oborududu grabbed the fourth gold of the day in the 68kg of the women’s freestyle after making a comeback to beat Canada’s Danielle Lappage to claim a 4-3 victory by points. It was her first Commonwealth Games title.
Daniel Amas won bronze in the 65kg of the men’s freestyle after beating Canada’s Vincent de Marinis 4-4 by criteria. Boxer Milicent Agboegbulem claimed bronze in the women’s 75kg category after losing 5-0 to Australia’s Caitlin Parker in the semi-final while Yetunde Odunuga won the third bronze in the women’s 65kg after she also lost 4-1 to England’s Paige Murney in their semi-final clash.
Meanwhile, Aruna Quadri and Segun Toriola were defeated 3-1 in the quarterfinal of the men’s doubles by Singapore’s Pang Yew En Koen and Poh Shoo Feng Ethan.
However, Quadri, who is the only player left in the men’s singles event for Nigeria, went on to defeat India’s Harmeet Desai 4-0 to book a place in Saturday’s semi-final against Sharath Achanta.
Also, Faith Obazuaye defeated Felicity Pickard of England to qualify for the final of the women’s TT6-10 table tennis event. She plays Australia’s Melissa Taper in the gold medal match today.
In other events, the Nigerian men’s relay teams suffered mixed fortunes as the 4x100m team – led by Seye Ogunlewe – qualified for Saturday’s final while the men’s 4x400m team were disqualified due to a lane infringement. The 4x100m team ran a season’s best of 38.52secs to qualify for the final.
Stephen Mozia finished seventh in the final of the men’s discus with a throw of 59.58m while Samuel Kure placed eighth in the men’s javelin qualification Group A with his best mark of 73.49m.Kure would not compete in the final after ranking 15th overall on the standings.
The country’s wrestlers continue their quest for more gold on Saturday as Mercy Genesis, Sinivie Boltic, Aminat Adeniyi and Melvin Bibo take to the mat.
Doreen Amata also competes in the women’s high jump while the women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams compete in the finals.
