On April 1, 1945, U.S. Marines from 2nd Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, exit their amphibious vehicles onto Green Beach One on the island of Okinawa. It was both Easter Sunday and April Fools when American forces landed that day.

It's easter sunday, and I have to say that the story of easter, of the atonement and of the ressurrection of Jesus Christ has become a source of immeasurable hope and comfort to me, especially as someone who struggles with depression and self-doubt on a daily basis. Because, even if I understood little else about the atonement, it meant that long before I was ever born, the all-powerful, all-knowing God of the universe Himself saw me, a depressed, self-conscious, anxious, bitter, broken person, looked me in the eye and told me that I was worth saving. And that the awful pain and agony He would have to endure to do so was worth it.

The God of the Universe thinks I'm worth it.

Just...man.
