This album made me loose my mind. Another Master Piece. Did anyone else bawl their eyes out during Snooze? Or was that just me? "Everything will be okay." I am unmoored. Floating in emotional ocean. Haegeum is Cinematic dream, that makes me feral. Made me scream when I saw the MV. And there isn't a single song on this album that isn't on repeat right now.

I mean I knew with People Pt.2 we were in for something amazing. That song was already a revelation.

And then he went and murder us with the most amazing album. Killing me softy with his song, indeed.

I am a mess lol! What's your favorite? Cause I can't seem to choose. Hearing Snooze live will be beautiful and my funeral. I already break down at the everything will be okay so far away two one punch the whole lot of us are gonna be crying live.

Amygdalla. Huh.(Hobi😭) Dawn. I don't know even know what to do, but I love this man. And I love this music.

i think i personally still haven't fully digested the album like. the documentary also added so much to the songs themselves, i feel? i already loved all the songs but hearing his thought process behind the songs, how each song came about (esp about snooze and how he said he wanted to do something that sounded like early ryuichi sakamoto music :(), i think it just made the experience so much more complete!

i love that he expanded on the haegeum mv too, my jaw dropped to the floor when he spoke about how idols get so much backlash for even the smallest things and it just Clicked why he added smoking to the haegeum mv and of course, amygdala, my most beloved 😭 i also really really really loved the live performance of polar night in the docu so it went up in my favourites list too (although all the live performances were brilliant!!! i just didn't expect polar night to be there hdjsjdks) 😭 huh?! is just. so good. i wish i could blast it everywhere i go on speaker fr with like floating translations so everyone knows what the song is saying dhfjdjdkd. like each song is brilliant musically but also lyrically i just love all of them so much i can't choose :')

Mortal Kombat (2021) Predictions/Hopes

Since we likely aren’t going to see the film for another 2 weeks (if that) *sulks* I’m doing this now before some numpty can spoil some or all of it for me.

Hopes

A really good intro to characters and lore with heart and set up for the next film.

Hopefully Sonya and Mileena get their due and other female characters are introduced as well.

Cole is relevant but Hanzo stays on as Scorpion (not sure about this :( )

There is lots of juicy angst and rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero. I think this is a given with the trailers and what I have heard of the plot.

I want lots of Angry/Hurt! Hanzo/Scorpion torn between his rivalry with Sub-Zero and having a second chance at family with Cole who he becomes a reluctant mentor to. From what I’ve read Scorpion’s story is the ‘heart’ of the movie. Having a second change via Cole and his family would be a wonderful journey and it would be so good to finally see Hiroyuki Sanada play a character that displays his range in a Hollywood movie.

Shang Tsung being more than just a card board cutout EVVVVVVVVVIL Overlord. Cary had so much fun with the role, but if they are going for more ‘realism’ I really like the hints of Shang Tsung wanting to ‘save his dying world’ and his bevy of badass ladies. I really crave bad guys that aren’t just typical bad bosses. If he cared a bit about his people that would be great. I doubt it will happen and if it did it will be limited, but I want some nuance...

Not gonna lie...I would really like some, a hint, a tiny molecule of a nod towards 1995 Shang Tsung’s villainous crush on Sonya. I feel he might develop it during the course of the movie which would put the sequel again to be a better version of 1995 movie because Shang’s desire for Sonya in that movie or how he first became aware of her is never explained.

That being said I do NOT want Sonya objectified or put into a silly dress like 1995 movie and I don’t think it will happen as I think the filmmakers are pretty clued up.

Predictions under the cut - don’t read if you don’t want to be potentially spoiled

Predictions

Based on trailers/teaser scenes and fan theories I think this film is something of prequel, getting main characters into place before the ‘main event’, which is one of the reasons a) Kano starts as one of good guys b) Johnny isn’t in it etc

Shang Tsung starts some drama and tries to kill the ‘chosen fighters’ before the main tournament against the Elder Gods’ rules to ensure his victory. He lost on the 10th tournament once before, he’s not going to make that mistake again damnit!

Cole is related to Scorpion/Hanzo Hasashi (this was basically given away by something I learnt from a spoiler from the prequel scene and that Lewis Tan in several social media posts is very attached to the Scorpion character as well as Cole’s yellow armbands and Scorpion appearing to him and saving him from Sub-Zero in the trailer scenes. Scorpion does not seem like the type of guy at that point to do that for just anyone. This is one of the things I’m most looking forward to and also dreading. I’m looking forward to Vengeful Fire Ghost! Hanzo being torn between his vendetta against Sub-Zero and his filial duty to Cole. I think across the movie gradually mentoring Cole will bring Hanzo back to himself after the tragedy of the first scene. Cole himself is also a father and feels like a failure so I’m looking forward to some family bonding there.

Pretty much a given that Hanzo’s family (most of them) are frozen by Bi-Han and Hanzo is killed and cursed to Neverrealm to become Scorpion.

I’m really not looking forward to this but I suspect that Hanzo played by my beloved Hiroyuki Sanada will die at the end of the film and by replaced by Cole as the new Scorpion. This is both because of Lewis’s fore-mentioned attachment to the character, Cole’s concept art that is like Scorpion’s and frankly as some rude guy pointed out on the internet Hiro is 60 and they are wanting to make this a Marvel style cinematic universe. He is a legend but I can’t see him wanting to do this for another 10/15 years (extremely happy to be proved wrong though because I will cry if this happens!) This might also be the reason Ed Boon - one of the original creators and Scorpion fanatic doesn’t seem very hyped with the film. Who knows.

Jax tries to recruit Cole at the start and fails cos come on who would believe in fighting fantasy aliens and a guy that can freeze stuff...until they start to attack you and your family. Jax and Cole (poss family) make a run for it which leads to a confrontation with Sub Zero who freezes Jax’s arms. Cole makes it to Sonya but they don’t hold out much hope for Jax. Jax is given experimental treatment and returns to save Sonya and the gang at a plot relevant moment - cue bonding moment between Sonya and Jax. Sonya fills Cole in with much banter from Kano who is possibly Sonya’s prisoner along for the ride. They make it to Raiden’s place after Shang’s assassins attack and Kano grabs a heart.

Kano betrays the Good Guys. This is pretty much a given with his character and background. I think he gets tempted by Shang Tsung and is given his laser eye and attacks the compound along with Shang’s fighters at the end.

Kung Lao dies and his soul is stolen by Shang Tsung. Not confirmed at all but a few things from some of the trailer scenes and something Ludi Lin said about Liu Kang ended the film having lost something important and having to search for it(?) made me think of this. Someone has to die and Shang Tsung stealing their soul sets up the Shang vs Liu Kang rivalry. Also Shang will hold a major grudge against the descendant of the dude that beat him in that previous 10th tournament. We will see.

Raiden will at some point consult the Elder Gods...you know it’s gotta happen ;) Shang might use that moment to attack his fighters. He and Raiden have a massive fight at the end.

Shang is severely punished at the end but he squeaks out of it, either then or at the end of the next film. Some people think he may ‘win’ at the end but Raiden convinces the Elder Gods he cheated so they agree to re-stage the real tournament. I’m not sure. But I think whoever is killed will be given an option to return if they beat Shang in the real tournament.

Bi-Han will be killed by Scorpion and become Noob Saiboot and we will get an intro to the new Sub-Zero but he will be introduced in the sequel with a vendetta against Scorpion - either Hanzo or Cole.

Cole’s family will be held prisoner by Shang Tsung and Sub-Zero will threaten them esp if it will get a rise out of Hanzo. Cole manages to save them.

Sonya will battle Mileena several times. Mileena will develop her trademark jaws for the second fight. Sonya will kill her at the end though.

Princess Kitana will be introduced but be teased for the sequel.

Johnny will make a cameo at the end - either the name or maybe an actor.

What are your thoughts? (No actual spoilers though please!)

oh geez. god. I actually really feel for Mingjue here ;____; swearing he’d protect all these people and then (as far as he knows) still being unable to, with himself being the one to make it out after deliberately setting out to avoid that. ouch :(

...mmmm, okay. I get why they want to have a Single Cinematic Moment for Huaisang’s big realisation, but... the way that played out didn’t really work for me. I find it kind of hard to buy that his memory would be that clear and specific for an event ?however many months-years ago? that was incredibly emotional and chaotic in the moment? maybe have that scene as a representation of an aha! moment that clinches his suspicions a year or two down the line after uncovering a few other pieces of evidence that suggest there’s something wrong with NMJ’s death, but. I dunno. I think I would have preferred that final scene being something more indicative of long-growing suspicions, tracking down pieces of research, music study, etc., as opposed to !!!suddenly everything falls into place!!!!

so hm. final verdict.... I suppose yes, I do have more sympathy now for Huaisang’s position! esp if, as it seems, they did have a much better and more supportive relationship as children, and that’s predominantly what NHS is remembering when he mourns his brother. (stillllll not thrilled with how he went about his revenge plot, but that’s a hypocrisy for me to deal with another day~)

WHY tf is Goblin SO sad?

I just finished rewatching the Goblin kdrama series and I feel like someone ripped out my heart, stomped over it and put it back in. What the heck. The earlier episodes were SO DAMN GOOD because it was funny and interesting and there was a lot of foreshadowing which made me sit on the edge of my seat, anxious for what would happen next. Oh boy, if only I knew 😪 what followed was a prolonged period of heart wrenching moments and sorrow for both the characters and ME.

The goblin managed to get out of the eternal winter god had sent him into because he refused to submit to gods plan and his powerful will to go to eun tak miraculously overcame his fate. I mean, the writer foreshadowed this in the previous episode where this (human and living) guy managed to barge into the grim reapers tea room because of his strong urge to shit and the goblin then realised that it the powerful and strong determination of a human can do the impossible which leaves us with a question and an answer— with strong will, can the goblin do anything? We know that he escaped the eternal winter, but is it possible to escape his eternal life? Is it even possible? Will god allow it? if a mere human can go against the rules of death, what can this great and lonely god do? These thoughts give me hope, but then again, the god in the drama is one mean, heartless dude.

We wall know that eun tak sacrificed herself for a group of kids and decided to not drink the tea and keep her memories so that she could find the goblin in her next life and they meet again in her next life when she turned 19. And then the drama ends >:-( I hate bittersweet, cliffhanger endings, it makes me feel so empty and incomplete and I long for their happy ending, but I cannot picture one.

Their love was destined to be an eternal sad love, just like she said in the second (I think) episode when they went to Canada. He went against his destiny- gods plan, and came back to her, but he knew, no matter what, it would not be a happy ending. It would not be long enough for him because she is still mortal and he’s immortal so it would never work out, but it is still better than nothing. She would keep on dying, reincarnating and meeting him, and when she reaches her final and forth life, she would die forever and will not be able to meet him anymore. And when that time arrives, he will truly be the lonely and great god but this time, forever. Unless of course he manages to go against his fate yet again and somehow dies and meets Eun Tak in afterlife and they get their much deserved happy ending. Afterall, gods plan is a question and the answer is crafted by you, anything could happen.

of course, that could just be my wishful thinking. I just really want to know why did god have to punish Kim shin so much? i don’t believe he deserves all that pain, suffering and now heartache and longing for a short-lived love he cannot let go of. I think the writer is a sadist. Hey, if you think about it this way, Eun Tak’s third and forth life could be a long one since she isn’t a “missing soul” anymore and Park Joong won perished by Kim shins sword, so she isn’t in danger or constantly at death’s door.

This drama is so heartbreaking and makes me want to cry and scream in frustration but I can’t stop watching or thinking about it because it is just so beautifully crafted- the writing, the cinematics, the actors (esp gong yoo 😍), bromance, romance, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. It made me feel euphoric at one moment then depressed at the next moment. I laughed and cried, it was really weird my parents probably think I lost my mind HAHA fUCK.

my thots on the rise of skywalker

OKAY so i actually mostly liked it but I do have a lot of thoughts about it and ill probably remember more and add to this later

the beginning was super rushed like wtf was with rey having a convo w leia and then jump cutting to her doing something else and then shes back with leia just to get the light saber? just like... make that one whole scene and conversation

rey and poe yelling at each other for fucking up the falcon and letting a tree fall on bb8 was very funny i love those kids

i love the trio i wanted to see more of them

i mostly liked the redemption arc (i know a lot of ppl dont) but i think it was very fitting for star wars and i like the idea of kylo ren returning to ben again and literally throwing his light saber into the sea by the ruins of the deathstar (the poetry of it all) BUT it was really rushed and i feel like he couldve used more time to come to terms with the fact that his whole life is wrong and he literally murdered his father

speaking of han i was confused a bit about his memory showing up and i get he wasnt force sensitive but a force ghost wouldve been less jarring to see

why the FUCK did he and rey kiss?????? what was that all about???? ALSO his hand placement on the waist of her fresh CORPSE? what the absolute hell was that like they shouldve kept it at the brother/sister dynamic that wouldve been better narratively and thematically imo with the whole choosing your own family thing and as like a foil to luke and leia

lots of thinking people died and them actually being alive was stupid like you can do it once or twice but good lord thats just too many

it definitely feels like they just wrote it into the script real fast like it felt so forced and her fuckin force lightning thrown in there? what the fuck

wouldve been better if they had been building to it the whole trilogy but nope just shoved it in

why did nothing in this movie feel natural

poe is.... very sexy

i adore finn with my whole heart and his concern for his friends really gets to me bc hes never had friends before rey and poe are his whole life and god i would write an essay all about them

their group hug at the end made me also want to cry

poe and finn squabbling was very good

for a moment i was like if theyre friends why are they constantly fighting but then remembered how best friends only exist to chirp and annoy each other

loved how instead of speeders they rode the boar horse things straight onto the star destroyers that was real fun

palpatine’s giant cult was there and chanting???? ok

i liked the convos between rey and kylo and their fights they were all very cool tm and cinematic esp when rey knocks over vaders helmet and the cherries are also spilled that was cool

light saber passing off was also pretty neat ill give that to them

neat storm trooper lady but she also felt very forced in and like they were gonna force a romance between her and finn

but i do love that there were other storm troopers that defected and their story sounded real cool and i would like to see that movie it would be great bc fuck the military

speaking of finn and forced romance rose was barely in the movie? they never acknowledged her kissing finn? like excuse me? you cant just force that in and then pretend it never happened!

i never liked the kiss in the first place but like you gotta at least give some form of closure

also finn’s “i never got to tell you” at rey what the fuck was that supposed to be?

poe and extremely sexy spicerunner lady and that thing they had?? not totally against it but once again felt forced

was funny at the end tho when he was like kiss and she was like no and he was like ok cool thank u all with their heads/faces

lesbian kiss definitely felt like pandering

thank u so much corporate overlords disney for ur unending support of the gays

shouldve made finn and poe kiss u cowards

i love those boys and them being co generals

the knife was pretty cool with it matching the death star ruins ill admit it ok jeez

thought it was cheesy at first like “oh this knife literally has the location on it” but alright FINE

leia :’(

rey having her own lightsaber (yellow!!!!!) at the end and burying luke and leias was very good

also her declaring to be a skywalker was GOOD

choose your family!!!

i have thoughts on the end battle but like idk how to say them all so just know i have thoughts but poes panic was good i liked seeing more dimensions of him

i'm actually high key heated that you would even say cars (the worst pixar franchise) is even remotely better than the incredibles I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU

weLL SHIT ANON YOU ARE WRONG NOW LIKE let me make one of those long bullet pointed metas that i am apparently famous for and lay some knowledge on you

(oh, you thought i was gonna joke reply, youre wrong i love cars more than aida)

first off - let me start by reminding you that we have THREE CARS MOVIES AND TWO CARS SPIN OFFS (AKA PLANES) and honestly this is proof cars is the best franchise and makes pixar the most money and cars land exists and is amazing and i met tow mater once and it was the greatest day of my life

but beyond that

cars is incredible

first off, we open on owen wilsons sweet car voice saying “i am speed” and honestly, this is the greatest thing ever have you considered that let me just tell you

now cars first off is a lesson in humility, lightening mcqueen is a hot shot at the beginning of the movie, but by the end he has learned not only to be humble but that goodness can be found all around him and most importantly that he doesnt need to win

unlike chick hicks the “villain” of the first movie (who makes an appearance in the third to remind us once again that arrogance gets you nowhere)

he learned compassion and friendship and not to judge people (cars) by their looks like this friendship with mater while strained in the cash grab that was cars 2, remains true at his core like

best fictional friendship goes to lightening and mater thats just facts

also best fictional mentor relationship goes to lightening and doc hudson who (cars 3 made me cry in a theater surrounded by children) acted as a surrogate father to lightening and inspired him and like doc is such an important lesson in fading heroes and good role models and wow i miss doc

cars 3 is the best closure of a hero tale, marvel and dc take note, this is how you retire a legend and let someone knew take up the numbers/cowls, like i dont want to spoil things but cars 3 is a cinematic masterpiece

now those are solid moral facts we also have random facts that make cars the best
