Charlie is shocked to her core. She's seen some pretty powerful Hellborn, but none of them have been able to use their powers like that. To wipe out over a dozen angels just like that and get up like it's nothing? She is definitely rushing to your side and helping you up.

Vaggie will also be shocked and a little intimidated. I mean, you did just massacre a ton of angels. She's glad you're on their side to say the least. Will also be helping you up with her girlfriend and making sure you're alright.

Angel Dust will be quite surprised that a little Hellborn like you has all that power. He is relieved that they have someone like you on their side. If he wasn't before, he's definitely cheering you on now.

Husk is very surprised, but amused by your power. Especially for someone as young as you. And a Hellborn no less. You earn a little bit of his respect after that.

Sir Pentious is enthralled by your abilities. He'll want to study you and your powers. Especially since you got back up right after that massive attack. You've earned his full respect by the way.

Alastor is the one who pressured you into using that attack. He knows what that attack does as he's seen it before. He is most amused by it. As you are just a young Hellborn. So he believes you'll be much more powerful when you grow up.

Adam is scared shitless by your attack. He just watched you wipe out a bunch of his army, why wouldn't he be scared. He hides this very well, though. And it won't make him surrender. He'll just stay as far away from you as he possible can.

Star's notes -> I looked up Noelle and the Snowgrave attack for this. And I must say, I really like her design!

im not that updated with deltarune's theories at the moment but wasn't there one about Dess being in deltarune's code, speaking and asking for help?

i also listened to girl next door and noticed three peculiar notes (it's at about 0:18 - 0:35, focus on the guitar);

maybe it means something??? I know that's a bit of a stretch but !!!!!!

Noelle is smart and she's probably going to be the first to find out Kris and the player are two separate entities.

i mean, she's already onto us in both Pacifist and Snowgrave route in ch2. no matter what path you take, she always notes how something is off with Kris.

i don't know if Dess has a connection to that guy™ but uhhhh i dunno anymore i ran out of brain power to continue this crack theory

Happy Deltarune Chapter 2 Day! 🎉

Presenting a revisited old idea I had:

Recruitable Party Member Spamton!

Available in [Big Shot] RED and PIPIS [Blue Blue Electric Blue]

Normal! Spamton (Red Mage)

Acquired via Normal Route

According to Final Fantasy Wiki, Red Mages can learn the spells of White and Black mages, but it comes at the cost of lower stats.

He's more Addison looking because we made him a Real Boy tm! Behaviorally, not much has changed apart from being more composed.

Normal! Spamton's starting armour are the "Bargain Hunters" - the spiffy orange glasses he's wearing. This orange is a blend of the Dealmaker's pink and yellow. From what I read, orange lenses are ideal for foggy and low light conditions and filters out blue light.

Normal! Spamton has the ThornRing in his inventory. It's an incompatible weapon type so he cannot equip it. (But if one asks Malius to fuse ThornRing with an equippable weapon…)

Weird! Spamton (Blue Mage)

Acquired with the presence of any Weird Route save file

Referencing FF Wiki again, Blue Mages learn spells from enemies.

Weird! Spamton often freezes and stutters in his speech and actions. Other than that, he is Spamton.

I left him a puppet because you didn't "free" Spamton in Weird! Route (and also to show how bad the Player messed up)

His starting armor is the "Snow Visor" - those snazzy purple glasses. I read that purple (technically red/purple) lenses are good in snowy weather. This purple is the complimentary color of the orange in Normal! Spam's glasses.

He has the Dealmakers in his inventory. They can either be exchanged with the Snow Visor or the Player snag them for themself.

Spamton Stats

Health: 150 * Attack: 8 * Defense: 0 * Magic: 7 * Guts: 1

I took his base game stats for this. Health is 600 ÷ 4, because the OG value seemed too high for a starting party member. The 7 in magic came from adding 1+9+9+7 and then dividing by 4 (6.5) and rounding up (7). (9 + 4) ÷ 2 also equals 6.5

His Guts is 1 because I wasn't sure what other number to give him.

Funny Stats (Normal! Spam): [Hot Stuff]: 1997, Sleaziness: 94

Regular Attack has him throw a Pipis

Normal! Spam has Heal Deal (heals 60 HP to entire party)

Weird! Spam replaces Heal Deal with [Market Research], which allows him to copy an enemy's last used attack for the duration of one battle. (Works like the Mimic move in Pokémon.) He also has a < 20% chance of Freezing enemies when he attacks them.

Regardless of form, Spamton's starting weapon is The Big One, a broken sword with a blue polished pommel resembling a Pipis. (It's meant to be the sword he sells in his shop.)

The Kris 0:00 Joke-Theory

In Undertale, when the player saves for the first time, they overwrite a file labeled "EMPTY". In Deltarune, when the player saves for the first time, they overwrite a file labeled "Kris". In both cases, the time at which said save file was created is supposedly 0:00.

The premise of this theory is that Kris did, indeed, save at precisely 0:00. As far as I can tell, this corresponds to the very beginning of the game; the vessel creation scene. In other words, there are a few minutes between 0:00 and when we first see Kris. But so far as we've seen, there's no way to save in the Light World. (When you're starting Chapter 2, you have the option to load a file from the end of Chapter 1. Said file uses the player's name, and its location is "Your Room [Chapter 1 END]". But said file is only referred to as "Chapter 1's FILE" or "Completion FILE". In other words, it may not have been created from a save point. Maybe not even by Kris; perhaps by the source(s) of the dialogue that occurs when you're copying or erasing save files.)

So for the sake of the theory, let's assume that Kris saved in a Dark World. Now, I ask you: What's a place that Kris could easily get to from their bedroom? A place associated with darkness and creatures of the imagination? A place that Kris is likely physically capable of getting into? A place which the narrator either glosses over or presents an interesting choice to you related to it? Under their bed. How does the narration describe Asriel's bed? * There are CDs under the bed. * Classical, jazz, religious ska... * There's also a game console. * It has one normal controller, and one knock-off one. How does the narration describe Kris's bed? * Your bed. Looks like the narrator doesn't want to talk too much about it.. And if you've already completed the game once, when you interact with Kris's bed, the narrator gives you the option to go back to sleep. If you choose to do so, the game fades to black and you skip straight to the first area of the closet Dark World. We never actually see Kris get into bed.. or, should I say, get under their bed? That's right: This theory also suggests that the under-bed Dark World and the closet Dark World are linked somehow. This might tie into the theory that Ralsei's corresponding Light World item is Kris's old horns headband. There's no reason for that to be in a school closet.. but it'd be entirely reasonable for it to have been under Kris's bed. (Standard disclaimer: If I'm not the first person to think of this, I want to hear about it.) (Nonstandard disclaimer: I don't actually believe that this might be canon. I just think it's a funny idea.)

maybe a weird question, but do you have any recommendations for non-mob psycho media? I’ve been in search of something that hits similarly/is as well made and I trust your judgement o wise one. I’m not super picky, so recs of any kind would be appreciated :)

im like the worst person to take media recommendations from because you have to tie me down to watch something new and then i get obsessed with it forever, in terms of things ive seen recently that hit the same tumblr is NOT lying dungeon meshi is really good and if you start watching now you're gonna be watching at the part where it starts getting crazy

other stuff ive been into (gets progressively less mob psycho and generally more depressing like the further down we go bc i tend to get into really, really sad shit):

-i <3 deltarune but everyone has already played that. deltarune good. if you havent played deltarune play deltarune. genuinely like it more than undertale. also if the last chapter of deltarune is just the confession arc i called it and deserve a million dollars

-same w spiderverse. listen usually i dont care about superhero stuff but god these movies are good and i really hope they stick the landing.

-everything everywhere all at once continues to be one of my favorite movies ever

-rainworld (video game, very difficult but skurry's playthroughs do a good job summarizing the plot and general vibe of each route if you wanna watch those. i watched my friend play survivor ages ago and ive been playing through survivor with a friend on multiplayer and decided to watch some playthroughs to get a feel for the map and GOD DAMN the story of this game. rivulet route almost made me cry.) fair warning this is animal death the video game.

-severance (live action tv show, general plot is some sort of dystopian future where they invent a surgery where you can seperate your work self from your normal self so you clock into work and then black out until your shift is over. except your work self is just stuck at work forever. only 9 episodes but very, VERY good)

-i actually really enjoyed the scott pilgrim comics and the anime i wish anyone ever could be normal about them. id definitely suggest comics (if you can handle the 2000s humor) then anime. also basically everyone knows this but fair warning that starting out the main character is in his early 20s dating a 17 year old, it is explicitly treated as a shitty thing by the narrative and theres nothing explicit and its made very clear that he has 0 feelings for her whatsoever and is just using her as an ego boost but if youre sensitive to that stuff i might skip this one

-lots of webcomics about animals. i read so many webcomics about animals its like. my main media intake. this is part of the reason that i dont understand complaints about the art style my favorite webcomic looks like this

its called doe of deadwood and ill think about it until the day i die. others im currently reading (since this one wrapped a while ago) are "what lurks beneath" (cat cult on an island) "waves always crash" (cat cult on the beach) "i didnt know" (cat cult in a barn), toufati sawa (hyena trying to avenge her clan) and africa (leopard trying to survive the harshening world with her cubs) warning for animal death with all of these and general abuse warning for all those cat cult ones bc. cults.

-i like warrior cats. do not read warrior cats. its not very good and youll get stuck here forever.

-pathologic but the actual game and not just people describing the game please watch someone play the actual game summaries skip so much of the meat of the story and the characters. or play the game if you can bear learning to strategically quicksave. fair warning there is a lot of racism depicted against indigenous people in these games and while the framing of it generally aires on the side of "racism bad" there are a lot of kinda shitty tropes that come with it.

-listen bojack horseman is one of my shows it is the polar opposite of mob psycho in like every way and i would never in a million years recommend it if you want something that hits like mob psycho but if we're asking for just things i enjoy this is one of them. heavy cw for drug usage and abuse with this one. might want to give "does the dog die" a look for this one bc people are not joking about how heavy this show is

-same with hospice. hospice is a concept album about a hospice worker and a patient and has had more of an influence on me than any other piece of media ever bc i found it at the exact perfect time in my life for it to be relevant to my circumstances and now its like part of my identity. heavy cw for abuse also

-speaking of concept albums hey have you listened to tyler the creator he has several. WOLF especially i really like because the plot is actually like. kinda intricate. he also says the f slur a lot in WOLF but hes bisexual so diversity win?

-succession good. tw for like. everything though. probably "does the dog die" this one.

No, I do NOT intend to create my own Deltarune Chapter 3 "take." However, I do have some stuff I wouldn't mind sharing with you, even if it might take a little while. Motivation is tough to come by, I tell ya!

Currently, the track will probably stretch anywhere from 0:48 to 1:07. We'll just have to see. In the meantime, let's just sit back and relax. Hopefully I'll have more to share soon enough!

Don't forget - Your choices still matter.

Another Deltarune analysis, featuring a non-techie person explaining a bit of tech and why we should probably be aware of it.

Since the day of its release into the public eye, Deltarune has made it a point to tell us that "your choices don't matter" -- whether "you" refers to either Kris or you as the player. Toby's already confirmed Deltarune to have one ending, and the game pokes a lot of fun at giving you choices only for your answer (if it even lets you answer) to be inconsequential. This came as a stark contrast to Undertale, where e v e r y choice mattered in the most unexpected ways. Even the choices we thought we erased, the choices we expected no consequence from, could come back with a vengeance later in the game.

So, before we get to into things, let's talk about how Undertale can make your decisions bite you in the ass.

Undertale has a relatively small SAVE file, with only about 500 lines and flags altogether. In your computer's local app data, you can see up to three true SAVE files: file0, for your actual game; file8, referred to as "Flowey's" file; and file9, which is the auto-save file. Within these files, the game stores your name, inventory, room, and your progress through the story (along with other things). On a typical reset, files 0 and 9 are erased (file8 is suspiciously spared, but surprisingly not our target).

What doesn't get erased during a normal reset is the undertale.ini file.

Unlike the SAVE files, you don't need to interact with a SAVE point to update your .ini--it's automatic whenever certain events occur. And unlike your SAVE, which usually keeps track of events as a "yes" or "no", the .ini is a counter, meaning it also keeps track of the amount of times you've witnessed a given scene or done something.

Here's a snippet of my current .ini file as reference. Among other things, we can see my pie preference (Bscotch = 2), how I've killed and spared Toriel once each (TK = 1 and TS = 1), that I've already walked through New Home the first time (Tale = 1), how many times I've died (Gameover = 1; I got cocky in the Undyne fight), and how many times I've walked through the final door (Won = 5). All of these entries affect what the game does, whether it's Flowey directly taunting me or Goat Mom getting deja vu over butterscotch pie.

In short: Undertale uses an external file to keep track of everything you've done, not just everything you've saved. It's honestly a very simple and effective strategy to make your video game meta. Doki Doki Literature Club actually does something pretty similar, using an external "persistent" file to keep track of what scenes you've played out with each girl and what leg of the story you're in. By having a file outside of your saves, something that can be updated in the background without extra action, you can effectively give your characters a ripple-proof memory-- or thereabouts, anyway.

Savvy players, however, will notice that Deltarune still doesn't do this; when you erase a file slot, there's no residual evidence of it both in the game and in the files. And that's true! There's points to be made about how the SAVE files seem to "hide" certain flags, like your vessel choices and your Eggs (which I could DEFINITELY talk more about in the future), but all of these choices are still confined to the same run.

But Deltarune may not need an all-encompassing persistent file-- just one that sees what you're still doing.

So far, there's only one event within the entirety of Deltarune that hints at the game reading not one, but all of your SAVE files at the same time: when you talk to Seam in Chapter 2.

If you've defeated Jevil in any one of your active CH1 files, you can access the Shadow Crystal and Jevilstail/Devilsknife in any of your CH2 files, even if they're not directly linked. Seam will even talk about you defeating Jevil, and be surprised when you say that you haven't. On first glance, this probably just looks like an anti-frustration tool; after all, the Jevil fight is one of the hardest in the entire franchise, and making players beat him in three different runs might be asking for a bit too much. Perhaps it's nothing...

...But how do we feel about the dr "config" file versus "true_config"? Because I'm a little sussed out.

Lo and behold, opening up the dr.ini file reveals a summary of all your active save files (both CH1 and CH2, in-game and end of chapter) in one place. Unlike undertale.ini, it's a much shorter summary with only 8 variables per SAVE. InitLang, Room, Date, Time, and Name are all self-explanatory; "UraBoss" refers to the secret boss fight of the chapter (0 = not fought, 1 = won violently, 2 = won peacefully).

But how about that difference between Love and Level?

I wonder how that changes during a Snowgrave run, or if future chapters include their own "Weird Route".

I wonder why the other files need to know.

Perhaps Ralsei was right--and perhaps, should we continue anyway, our consequences are not confined to one timeline.
