I can’t explain how fucking inconvenient a lack of local transport is

#here’s the thing. I’m a 21 year old. I don’t drive. I don’t want to drive. not because I have the expectation that #ppl should drive me everywhere. but because I’m unbiasedly aware I’d be a danger to myself and others if I ever got behind a wheel #ok? ok. that means I’m greatly limited to what a person my age — a person settled into an urban environment- is #there’s no bus in my area. no taxi service. there’s exactly 10 people in my village who have a license. I can’t go grocery shopping.#I can’t run errands. I can’t get issues solved. delivery places won’t deliver in my area because the distance is too big #just. GOD. It’s so fucking frustratating watching politicians— my policitians especially— throw their money on stupid shit #when the community structure is barely holding on to life. so fucking enraged #rant #text

Does anyone familiar with courier apps know why there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order grocery items are picked? Because like, if it was me.....I would not get the eggs and ice cream first when it's going to be at least an hour before it reaches my door

sometimes the secret to life is just acknowledging that yeah sometimes it's hard to function when your brain is literally trying to end you and so just doing 'the bare minimum' is ok and baking some treats and sharing them with your cat is actually really important and good for you cause you're up! and doing things! and carrying on!

this isn't a joke or honestly even all that outlandish but i think if you receive SSI you should get some kind of instacart discount. if i was able-bodied i could just go get my groceries and save all the added costs and i'm not even talking about tipping it's the prices all being raised, it's the fees, it's meeting the delivery minimum to get rid of some fees if you paid for instacart+ because you're disabled and knew you'd be physically incapable of not relying on grocery delivery more than you would if you were able-bodied. like at least just make the prices equivalent to what they are in the store, no or lower order minimum, and cover the delivery fees. the disability tax on everyday life gets crushing when you only get $914 for the month

#instacart+ is $75 but when my free trial ran out i knew like. i need grocery delivery. i'd lose that $75 in fees real quick #but then there are still fees!! and the raised prices! and maybe i don't need $35 worth of stuff but i REALLY need some of the stuff #i don't mind tipping at least they're actually doing the service for me but everything else is really really annoying

We briefly interrupt this update to show you the pets being cute as hell. :) I really love it when pets living in the same house seek each other out for sniffs and licks and the like. It’s so stinking adorable. :)

Anyway, everyone occupied themselves as best they could as the evening wore on -- Alice wolfed out, hunted some fresh meat and found a time capsule in the yard (just another Ol’ Gabby, though); Smiler played guitar, fed the remaining chickens (two hens -- one on her last legs -- and three chicks), and made some more robot parts (watched by a curious Alice); and Victor woke up from his nap and took Shadow on a nice long walk around the neighborhood! During which he tried to stop her randomly barking, only for her to start howling instead. XD Yeah, this dog does love to bark -- HOPEFULLY I can train it out of her!

Around the time Victor returned to the house, though, I suddenly remembered something -- he had a free grocery delivery coupon that was going to expire the next day! I quickly had Smiler phone in an order -- a baking book, a chocolate egg, and the usual staples of flour, sugar, and wrapped meat. I didn’t know if the grocery delivery kid would show up that night or not -- it was starting to get late -- but apparently he was willing to brave the specters and the excitable foxhound to drop off their goods! Victor naturally gave him a nice tip for his trouble. :) Always remember to tip your delivery person, guys!

And so the day ended with Victor heading back up to bed while Alice and Guidry played some chess and chatted with Smiler. Completely ignoring the fact that it was Neighborhood Brawl, to the point of not even getting sad moodlets when the holiday ended and they’d all failed it by not fighting with anyone. XD I’m pretty sure that was a glitch, but it’s one I will definitely take. :p Next time -- Smiler celebrates the start of winter with a rockin’ party! I’m sure you all want to see that. :)
