the thing that breaks my heart the most about gus fring is that he was always so adamant on the true meaning of "blood for blood", one of the reasons he hated the salamancas the most was their inability to be fair and don't get ambition or impulsivity affect their vengeance and violence, so, in his mind, the whole master plan he had constructed that took countless lives, money, years of planning and execution and even his own life, all because of the murder of a single man. as someone as grounded in reality and self awareness as gus ("I am what I am"), for him, it was completely reasonable and fair that the lives of the whole mexican cartel and every single one of the salamancas, were the only thing that could come close to max arciniega.
