"Old Havana"
If you enjoy leftover foods like I do, then this one will satisfy your palate for sure if you are craving the tastes of what I consider the two flags representing Cuban cuisine, which are picadillo and black beans. Both recipes can be found in this blog, so make them, combine them, and enjoy them. And as a leftover like something from the past, I was inspired to name this one “Old Havana,” enjoy!

How To Make Cuban Picadillo With American Wagyu Beef
Picadillo is a Cuban style of hash traditionally made with ground beef. It has tons of flavors and texture thanks to ingredients like chopped green olives, capers and raisins. Plenty of spices and a touch of coconut sugar make this simple dish completely irresistible. Traditionally served over white rice, picadillo also makes a scrumptious filling for tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sandwiches, etc. Great for breakfast (fry an egg and put it on top), lunch or dinner, it’s versatile and always satisfying.
Ingredients:
🍴 1 tablespoon bison tallow
🍴 2 large cloves of garlic, finely minced
🍴 ½ large onion, chopped
🍴 ½ red bell pepper, chopped
🍴 1 pound American Wagyu ground beef
🍴 ⅓ cup green olives, sliced in half, pits removed
🍴 ½ cup golden raisins
🍴 1 ½ tablespoons capers
🍴 1 cup diced canned tomatoes
🍴 1 tablespoon double concentrated tomato paste
🍴 2 packages sazon seasoning
🍴 1 tablespoon cumin powder

Celebrating ""Cuban Picadillo"
Cuban picadillo is one of those meals that I could probably eat every day of the week. And the best thing is the great variety of picadillo recipes using the many ingredients and spices each making every recipe unique. Some of the ingredients that people use to create this ground beef dish are diced potatoes, raisins, olives among others, and some just like to keep it simple. Here’s mine the way my grandmother Tata used to make hers.
In a steel pot I first brown two pounds of ground sirloin in olive oil while adding salt, ground black pepper, leaf oregano, garlic powder and paprika. Add one cup each of diced green bell peppers, diced white onions, seedless olives, Spanish pimentos, one cup of tomato sauce, and half cup of Spanish cooking wine (vino seco,) stir well to mix all ingredients, cover, lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes stirring once half way, enjoy!
I like my picadillo with long grain white rice and red kidney beans.
