“How are you, princess? Was little Flynn well behaved?”
“Uncle River! Look, special ornaments, not shiny, but special!”
“They have been good little workers.”
Rylan chuckles at Fannar's comment.
“And he has been decent, a little bit unruly, but not too bad.”
He smiles and kisses River back, wishing he could hug him tight, but today was not that type of day, so instead he gently caresses his cheek.
“Fannar is learning not all ornaments need to be shiny.”
“Maybe before next Christmas, you can make your own ornament to hang on the trees.”
Hayle lifts Fannar up, letting him hang the very special ornaments his dad and uncle made, finding them special places close to the shiny flowers that were his family.
“You can make it as shiny as you want too. “
“YES! I want to, I’ll make them shiny!!”
“Yes. We can make shiny ornaments for our tree, baby star, and maybe Flynn will be with us making the ornaments too!”
River presses his lips to a thin line and nods, leaning down to kiss Rylan again, brushing his cheek softly with a hand.
“So, princess. What ornaments are still left for us to put on the tree.”
“Oh we saved these for us.”
He smiles, holding out a small box which are the ornaments they have bought together since River came back.
“I was hoping with a little bit of help from you to be able to stand for long enough to at least put a couple on the tree, not just be "the boss"”
He could hear the sigh from his brother which made him smile. Hayden watched Hayle and Fannar who were busy finding all the spots that were missing the occasional decoration. The smell of dinner slowly spread around the house as well, as they had decided to make some of the Christmas dinner one day before, so it wouldn’t be too much on Christmas eve as they had quite a few dishes they wanted to make.
“We also made soup, your favorite just in case.”
