Pairing; Jung Wooyoung x Reader
Genre; Fluff, Friends to Lover.
Word count; 3.7k
Synopsis; A white Persian witnesses stupid pair of friends who’d finally realized their feelings towards eachother through acts of services and their never ending teasings.
ㅡஓ๑♡๑ஓㅡ
With a phone in your hand and a white Persian on your lap, a soft pout was contorted on your face as you hesitated to send the message that you'd been gazing over for almost half an hour now. Even Luna was getting annoyed since she stopped purring when you decided to replace your fingers from her soft white fur to your lips, as you bite on it nervously.
'It's only your best friend, what's so bad about asking him to come over and spend time with you?'
You didn't know whether it was your mind, or the angel and the devil on your shoulder that gave you that thought. Luna who had been waiting for your attention back long enough, knocked the phone from your hand with a head nudge. As weak as a cat was, it still shocked you that your phone fell back to the couch next to your thigh.
With an annoyed grumble, you glared softly with a pout, that seemed to be a natural thing that you inherit within your family, towards the innocent-looking feline face in front of you. Your phone was ignored, now that Luna successfully gained your attention.
"You're hungry, aren't you?" A heave of breath and a slight crack of your back is all it takes before you stood up, and walked towards the spacious kitchen of your apartment, with a white fluff ball following behind, who sinlessly almost tripped your feat along the way.
Just as you're about to tell off the feline, a ring on your apartment door, as well as unnecessary knocks, saved the feline the unbeknown hell that she was about to hear.
A sigh came out, as you expected your annoying neighbor who only wanted to borrow your vacuum cleaner to be at the other side of the door, "I told you, Jeonghan. get your own-,"
Your words got cut off, when, instead of your pretty-faced neighbor, with his annoyingly soft-looking hair, you were greeted by the bright smile of your best friend, Jung Wooyoung.
"Was it necessary to ring my bell, and knock on my door?"
You grumbled as the only thing that greeted you as your best friend uninvitedly walked in, was an irritating pinch on the ribs.
"Tch, Jeonghan? come on, Y/N. You know better that it's only me who uses the bell, and knocks!"
Wooyoung proudly exclaimed with an eat-shitting grin, as he zoomed past your living room, to your kitchen, not forgetting to pet your Persian on the head. You swore to yourself that you held back the urge to grip his neck and threw him back out the door. 'Why didn't you check the cameras first before you open the door?' you thought to yourself, as you unwillingly walked over where Wooyoung was.
It took you a minute to realize that Wooyoung brought two white plastic bags in his hands, and puts them next to the unopened can of cat food that you were about to give to Luna. Your cat seemed to hold a grudge against you for forgetting to feed her since she jumped up to the counter, totally ignoring you, and rub her head on the canned food. It was as if she initiated for Wooyoung to open the can for her.
"You didn't feed Luna yet? Oh, poor thing. What did you deserve to have a mommy like Y/N?" Wooyoung teased, not sparing a glance in your direction.
With jaw dropped, and another urge to hurt Wooyoung, you reply feeling a bit offended, "I heard you, Woo."
"Jagiya, you were meant to," He said, still not paying attention and not caring about your offended tone, he waved to you and motioned to the plastic bags that he brought with him, "Unpack the bags, and put the ice cream in the fridge before it melts."
That's all he said before cracking open the cat food and putting it into Luna's ceramic food bowl that he got from the dishwasher. With a hesitant nod, You walked up next to a crouching Wooyoung since he puts Luna's bowl down on the floor next to the edge of the counter, the same edge Wooyoung puts the plastic bags on.
"What made you come here, Woo?" you asked your best friend who's stayed crouched down to scrape the cat food from the can, only for you to notice that he wasn't using a specific spoon to scratch Luna's food, you whined loudly to the boy, "Jung Wooyoung, you know Luna has a specific spoon for her food!"
"…This isn't it?" Wooyoung dumbly asked as he stares blankly at the spoon. Seemingly not feeling like he had sinned at all since he didn't spare me a glance when he said it. "Why would you even-"
With a blank face, you knocked a crouching Wooyoung down with your knee as he jolts forward almost knocking the poor feline's food bowl. Wooyoung on the other side, was used to your treatment when he got up unbothered, as if you didn't just try to kill him by cracking his skull against Luna's ceramic food bowl.
"You act like I never come by uninvited, Y/N. Besides, I wanted to try my new recipe on you," Wooyoung smiled, ruffling your already messy hair from the many times you've laid down on your couch. He got the rest of the things he bought from the plastic bag, while you brought Wooyoung's favorite ice cream flavor to your freezer.
"Very thoughtful of you, Woo," you mumbled, staring cynically at the two tubs of ice cream that were now resting in the freezer, also ignoring the danger of you being food poisoned by your best friend, when he said he wanted to try on a new recipe with you, "You didn't think about me when you got ice cream."
Wooyoung grinned at how your lips naturally come off to a pout as you speak dejectedly about the ice cream he bought, that was until he pulled out another tub of your favorite flavor of ice cream that you didn't seen earlier in the other plastic bag, and putting it in the freezer next to the tubs of his favorite flavor, "How could I ever?"
An audible gasp came out of you, which scared the poor feline that had seemed to make her run out of the kitchen. Wooyoung giggled at you as he gets close and puts you in a gentle headlock, bringing you closer to the counter beside the stove.
A cooking pot of yours, which was somehow Wooyoung's favorite pot every time he comes over to cook, was already set up on top of the stove. A few ingredients were also sitting on the counter that he set up earlier when I was pouting about the ice cream earlier.
"Wooyoung, argh!"
Wooyoung let out a loud high-pitched laugh as he felt you jabbing your fingers into the side of his waist in an act of defending your own life, "Okay, stop! Woman, god damn it."
You huffed as your best friend finally lets go of you, as Wooyoung puts you in front of the cutting board. A glare was shot towards Wooyoung as you look down at the board, "What? you're going to chop me now too?"
"That's absurd, who would pay for our Netflix account if I do that to you?" Wooyoung sent you a boyish grin as he brought up an onion in front of you, signaling for you to start chopping.
It was a weekly routine for you both to cook together for lunch and dinner while Wooyoung make use of your apartment for half of the day to eat, sleep, and play with his step-daughter, Luna. So it wasn't a surprise for you that he came all of a sudden, ready to make you his assistant in the kitchen.
It was just Wooyoung hadn't been messaging you and had been M.I.A towards you for almost two weeks now.
"Cut these onions in half and cut it for me, will you?" Wooyoung noticed you hesitating for a bit. He nudges your shoulder with a softer smile, in contrast to the smirks and grins he has been giving you ever since he got here.
You snapped out of your thoughts and started chopping on the onions skillfully as Wooyoung sauteed some thinly sliced beef, as well as mushrooms, not forgetting to finish the whole styrofoam package since Wooyoung knew you both loved mushrooms.
Wooyoung boiled another pot of water and he puts in what seemed like two portions of Dangmyeon from an eye measure, He turned to you who was now eyeing the cooked sliced beef and mushrooms.
He smirked, as he seemed to notice you. Wooyoung took a piece of the cooked mushroom, bringing it up against your lips, before asking you, "Where's the strainer?"
A grateful smile comes onto your lips, you gladly took the mushroom in your mouth, chewing on it slowly. You point to the upper cabinet of your kitchen, signaling to where the strainer was, "Up there, I think."
"Really, now?" Wooyoung sighed as he looked up to where you pointed, with his arms on his waist. It wasn't your fault you rarely use it, your kitchen is practically useless if it isn't because of Wooyoung.
You nodded mindlessly as you immediately stood on the counter when you thought Wooyoung didn't believe you. Your grey socks felt a bit slippery against the counter table, but you were positive that you were experienced enough to not fall, from the times you'd grabbed Luna's canned food which was placed in the cabinet where you kept all of your rarely-used kitchen utensils.
"Of course! the last time you used it, I kept it here ever-"
Your words got cut off when your feet got too close to the edge of the counter, making your whole body slip down from the high countertop. A loud 'Oh my god' came out from your lips as your eyes widens, waiting for the impact of the floor to hurt your body. And if it isn't for Wooyoung who was already witnessing your whole move, ever since you got up on the counter, you would've broken a leg.
Wooyoung caught your body as he moved you away from the pot that had boiling water and the now-cooked Dangmyeon in the hope that you don't nudge the pot through your fall.
Though, you both were unfortunate enough when your feet knocks over a bottle of sesame oil, making it shatter against the floor. Wooyoung instinctively brought your legs, signaling you to wrap them around his waist to avoid your foot from the shattered glass, and to help himself carry you a bit easier.
Thankfully it shattered far enough from Wooyoung so it doesn't immediately falls on his feet, he quickly turned off the stove of boiling water, not caring if the noodles are being left, and overcook itself from the remaining heat of the water.
With a panicked and worried gaze, you looked down at the mess you stupidly made, as you mutter out trains of apologies to your best friend, whose body you were clinging on. Wooyoung didn't say anything as he brought your bodies back away from the glass, towards the other side of the counter making way around the mess.
"Wooyoungie, I'm so sorry…" Your gaze finally sets itself on him, feeling how his face was so close to yours now. You forced the thought down that he was mad at you since he was too focused on getting you both away from the kitchen. Though, you don't doubt that he had the right to be mad. It's just that Wooyoung is rarely mad, especially toward you. "I'm sorry, Woo. I'll clean it up."
When Wooyoung finally sets you down on your couch, next to Luna, you immediately tried to get up again after promising him that you would clean up the mess you have made. Wooyoung stopped you with an unreadable gaze as he held you back from rushing back toward the kitchen.
"Did you hurt yourself?" Wooyoung mutter out worriedly, as he took your wrist, checking every part of you with his dark eyes. Wooyoung rubs your hair back tucking it behind your ear to stare at you, repeating himself when you didn't seem to answer, "Did you?"
You would've answered the first time he asked if it weren't from you trying to calm down your racing heart, whether it was from you smashing a glass bottle and almost hurting both of you or Wooyoung's long fingers that were grazing themselves against your face. His annoyingly handsome face was contorted in deep worry, as his eyes were skimming across your body, pausing longer at your feet to check if there was any glass that had pierced you.
If it weren't for him slapping your cheek softly when you haven't answered him, you wouldn't ignore the fact that Wooyoung's eyes gaze down to your lips for a split second. You broke your eye contact first, wanting to calm your racing heart, "I-i'm okay."
"Just stay still, I'll clean it."
That's the only thing Wooyoung said before rushing back to the kitchen as he took off his apron and kneeled down with a broom and a dustpan in his hand, in-front of the mess you’ve made, pushing the glass into the dustpan. He quickly throws the glass away to the white plastic bag from his groceries earlier, tying it tightly into a knot. He bends down once more to wipe the spilled sesame oil with a rag and pours a small amount of soap so it doesn't smell later on.
Wooyoung came back to the living room only to rush past me and Luna, to enter your bedroom. He came back out, his feet were now wearing your home sandals that were in a shape of a white duck. If only the atmosphere wasn't a bit heavy, you would've laughed at how ridiculous Wooyoung looked with your fluffy duck sandals.
There were sounds from the kitchen as you took a peak to see Wooyoung's back facing toward you. He opened the upper cabinet that you were reaching out to earlier and took out a steel strainer. You bit your lips thinking Wooyoung was mad at you at some point.
A few minutes later, Wooyoung came back with two plates of Jjapchae. He puts a plate in front of you, and next to you. He puts it on top of the table in front of the couch next to where you were sitting, before rushing back to the kitchen to grab something else. With a smile, Wooyoung came back as he held two pair of chopsticks and two cans of Diet Coke that you had stocked up in your fridge.
The smile he wore threw me off completely. You sat on the couch with legs crossed, you stare at him with curious eyes, wondering why he was smiling, "You're not mad at me, Woo?"
"No? Why would I be?" Wooyoung looked at you weirdly, as he sat down next to you. He grab your shoulder slightly to pull you towards him, so he could easily grab the tv remote that he saw sitting behind you. Wooyoung turn to look at you worriedly after he sets a Netflix show on for you both, "Are you really not hurt, Y/N?"
"No, I'm alright. Are you?"
"Nah, I'm alright." Wooyoung grinned, as he ruffled your hair after he saw the worried expression that was adorning your face. "Don't worry, it's just sesame oil. it's not that expensive. Just make sure you wear sandals to the kitchen for a few days, in case I didn't clean the glass well enough earlier, yeah?"
You nod obediently as you looked down at the warm Jjapchae Wooyoung served for you. You took a bite of the noodle as you turn to Wooyoung at the unfamiliar taste of the Jjapchae, "Isn't Jjapchae supposed to have sesame oil in them?"
"Yeah? And who's fault is that?" Wooyoung immediately bit back at you, as you pout at how right he was. Luna that seemed to want to join the both of us eating, climbed toward Wooyoung's lap with a soft purr.
You chuckled softly, as you gave him an embarrassed look, tilting your head towards Wooyoung who was chewing and was already looking at you with a judging stare. You grabbed a piece of mushroom and held it against his lips, in an act of saying 'sorry'.
He took it into his mouth, as he grinned at you with another unreadable look. The living room suddenly got quiet as the only thing that could only be heard was the Netflix show Wooyoung puts on. You knew then there was something on Wooyoung's mind since he was usually pretty talkative.
You turn towards your best friend, as you were about to ask why he was being so quiet. When you did, Wooyoung was already looking at you. Not knowing what to do, you stare at him back with no emotions. Your heartbeat picks up, as you saw his jaw clenched making the vein in his neck move a little.
Wooyoung seemingly moved a little bit closer, when you felt the couch moved a little. Your eyes widen but you can't seem to move away to stop him. The smell of his Replica perfume hits your nose as it made your heartbeat quicken.
His calloused thumb pad found its way to your cheek, and you felt like you'd forgotten how to move at this point.
"Woo… what is it?" You breathe out shakily, as your eyes instinctively gaze down at the small mole on his bottom lips, copying Wooyoung's doing.
He leans closely as you felt his breath against the side of your cheek now. 'Is this what friends do?' you thought to yourself, as you didn't dare to move.
Wooyoung didn't have to get this close to you when he only graze the pad of his thumb against the corner of your lips to get rid of a soy sauce stain. You could've sworn Wooyoung backs away with a smirk, as he pretended like nothing happened and went back to his food.
"How is it?"
You snapped out of your daze, as Wooyoung asked you a question with a stupid knowing smirk on his face, you almost slap his pretty face if your furry daughter wasn't witnessing this whole thing, "What the hell was that?!"
Wooyoung only shrugged still with a smirk, "What the hell was what?"
"Ya!"
His hyena-like laugh was heard throughout my apartment as you slap his shoulder making him jolt just a little at the impact. You didn't seem to find this funny, your face was red from the earlier scene, and the annoyance you felt for Wooyoung.
He was still not stopping, as his laughter just got louder. He busied himself with his food, and your face just fell into a pout. You bravely took Wooyoung's plate as his Jjapchae was in the middle of the air when he was lifting it up to cool it off. You saw how Wooyoung eyes panicked as he realized you took his plate away.
"Y/N, that's not funny!"
Wooyoung whined childishly as his eyes stayed locked on the whole portion of his Jjapche, careful to not move too much. He was not gonna let his food drop. His eyes turn to look at you, who was already sitting on the edge of the couch with his plate that's now only filled with the toppings.
"It is funny to me," You giggled, as you noticed his panicked eyes. His eyes were flickering between you and his Jjapche now.
"Y/N, give me the plate back, or else." Wooyoung threatens in a panicked tone. He didn't find this amusing at all, especially when his food was at risk, "I swear to god when I get my hands on you…"
That statement seemed to make you burst out laughing, "What hands?"
Wooyoung tried to reach his other hand towards you, but you were too far from his reach. His eyes kept flickering back and forth as he growled towards you, "Y/N!"
"You want some beef, Luna?"
You giggled ignoring Wooyoungs threats, as you busied yourself with your cat, wanting to rile up Wooyoung even more. It was only fair since he left me alone to deal with the annoyance he gave me from his tease earlier.
"Y/N, you're gonna pay for this, I'm serious right now."
His tone lowers down, as your tongue stuck out to mock him. You loved seeing him so annoyed like this, knowing Wooyoung would always let you have your way.
That was Wooyoung's final straw, why didn't he consider it quick enough? your plate was there the whole time, with half of your Jjapchae still there.
He brought his Jjapchae down to your plate, throwing the chopsticks down. As he turns to you, he crawls over to you slowly. Wooyoung didn't give you time to process what was happening as he pulls one of your feet so your body was limply dragged towards him and he quickly crawls on top of you.
Wooyoung grabbed his plate back from you and sets it down mindlessly next to yours on the table. Luna, who was eating a piece of sliced beef, got startled again and ran back to the floor, cowering under the table.
"It's funny for you, pretty girl?" Wooyoung mutter under his breath, as his eyes scan all over your face. You felt all of the blood quickly rush to your face at his sudden given nickname. "Cat got your tongue? Come on, laugh again."
You feel all your words get stuck in your throat. Wooyoung's gaze was dark and you felt your chin being held by his fingers, "Woo… I didn't mean t-"
"Do I make you nervous?"
An absurd question, but your mind and eyes were too busy looking at his lips. You tried to pry them off but it was no use when Wooyoung was this close, "H-huh?"
"Do you feel it too?"
You knew what he meant, but you're not sure if that's what he meant also. Did Wooyoung mean the undeniable quickened beating of your heart? Does that mean Wooyoung felt it too?
"Y/N, answer me…"
His tone was pleading to you now, his eyes glistens from admiration, as they stayed locked towards your lips. Wooyoung had to lick his lips as it went dry, just like his throat was from being so close to you.
"I think so…" You mumbled out, still not sure of what he meant.
Wooyoung visibly gulped as his fingertips grazed once again over your face, brushing your hair that got in the way. It slides down to your cheek, down to your chin as he held it there to make sure your head stayed still. His eyes stayed still on your lips, as your noses brushed together. Wooyoung tilts his head to the side as he leans in more slowly, "Can I make you think so?"
The beats of your heart were soaring now, and your throat was dry as it can't seem to form any words.
So you nod.
That's all it takes for Wooyoung to press his lips to yours, his hand that was holding your chin was now slowly moving to the back of your neck. He pulled your head closer towards him, as he tilts his head more to deepen the kiss. You felt Woyoung smile into the kiss as if he had been wanting to do this for a long time.
When Wooyoung pulls out for the both of you to catch your breaths, he presses his nose to your cheek as he tried to catch his breath. He pressed multiple kisses to your cheek as if saying a 'thank you' to you, Wooyoung made it clear also when he muttered verbal gratitude to your cheek, "Thank you…"
"What for?" You asked against his ear, you tilt your head to where Wooyoung was, as you tried to look at Wooyoung in the eyes. You grab his cheeks as you lift his head, "Hey, look at me…"
Wooyoung got his head up from your cheek, as he stayed hovering over you. He looked at you, just as you asked him to, "I'm sure now."
"Sure? Sure about what, Woo?"
He lets out a giggle, and a grin as he looked at you with complete joy in his eyes, "About you."
Your breaths calmed down, and you smiled back at how happy he looked. The sudden kiss and confession were nothing you'd expected at all when Wooyoung came by to hang with you here. You were glad he's shameless though.
"I think so too."
The boy grinned widely, as he kissed your cheeks when you said your words. He felt his heart beating wildly against his chest. Wooyoung turned towards Luna who was sitting under the table with her hands underneath her body creating herself into a loaf, witnessing the whole thing, "You hear that, Luna? Your mother said yes."
At that your burst out laughing, you push Wooyoung's chest away sitting him back up. You follow him soon after as you sat facing him with a teasing smile, "You're stupid."
"And you kissed me, kisses transmit it!"
Your eyebrows furrowed as you stare at him weirdly, your hand grabs the plate of the long-forgotten Jjapchae, seeing how your portion doubles from Wooyoung's portion added into your plate, "Transmit what? Stupidity?"
He nodded excitedly like he just found out about a new observation. You sighed at him as you stuffed a sliced beef into his mouth, and made him chew to shut him up when he was about to continue his word.
Wooyoung suddenly jolted up as he felt a buzz right under his ass, once again startling the poor feline. He quickly looked down after letting out a cuss. "Why was your phone even under my ass?!"
Wooyoung grumbled, he lifted himself from the couch and took the phone, glaring at it when he saw an unimportant game notification. You chuckled to yourself at Wooyoung's antic, as you got yourself busy picking mushrooms from your Jjapchae.
On the other hand, Wooyoung noticed an open Imessage room. Your phone hasn't turned off even from an hour ago since your phone was never set on an Auto-lock.
He always nagged you to turn on the Auto-lock for at least every 5 minutes, since you kept nagging him on how your battery kept going down faster than his. Which led you to borrow his charger, Wooyoung knew you never seemed to bring your own.
A smirk came into his face when he realized the opened chat room was his contacts, he noticed a message that seemed to be waiting on the typing bar of the chatroom. Peaking to see his phone that was resting exactly right in front of you on the table, Wooyoung pressed 'send' on your message, and waited for the notification to come up on his lock screen.
ping!
Tumblr media
You looked up to the sound of Wooyoung's phone, your eyebrows furrowed as you leaned in more towards the screen when you see the familiar emoji of your contact name on his screen. Your eyes quickly widen as you grab his phone, double-checking if you're reading it right.
And with the both of you clasping each other’s phone, Wooyoung leaned up to your face with a teasing smile,
"you've missed my cooking, or me?"

Cornsnake Shopping List
So, you've decided on a cornsnake - great choice! Cornsnakes, Pantherophis guttatus, are great pets, and they're popular for a reason! You can expect an adult cornsnake to grow 3-5 feet long, with males being generally bigger than females. Cornsnakes can live to be around 20 years old with proper care.
Enclosure setup shopping list:
You will want to set up your enclosure so your snake has room to stretch out, climb, and explore! You will need to set up a temperature gradient of 88-75 Fahrenheit.
Enclosure. For a young corn, a 20 gallon is fine, and a 40 gallon works well for yearlings. As an adult, your snake will need a 4x2x2 enclosure at the absolute minimum, and bigger is better! Check out Animal Plastics for affordable, high-quality enclosures.
If your enclosure has a screen lid, two sets of screen clips. Never bring a snake home without screen clips!
A dome heat lamp with ceramic sockets. Any big reptile brand is fine - Fluker's, Zoo Med, and Exo Terra are all trustworthy brands here. Make sure your dome lamp is rated for the wattage of bulb you will be using - 150 is usually a safe bet.
Heat bulbs. I use ceramic heat emitters for my corns. You can choose to provide halogen light and UVB if you'd like. Arcadia makes high-quality heat sources your pet will love. The wattage you choose will depend on your enclosure size and the temperature in your home.
A thermostat to plug your heat source into. Vivarium Electronics thermostats are excellent but pricey; you can go as expensive as you like but here is a cheap one I swear by.
Digital thermometer/hygrometer reader with probes - Zoo Med and Exo Terra make great dual gauges
At least two identical hides, one on either side
A container to make a humidity hide. Simply cut a hole in the lid, fill with damp moss, and you're set! Providing your snake with a humid hide will help them have perfect sheds every time!
A large water bowl
(Insider tip: if you go to the grocery store and buy a pack of black plastic food storage containers, you can easily make hides, humidity hides, and a water bowl out of them! Here's my go-to option, you can easily take care of all that for one baby snake for like 5 dollars!)
Sphagnum moss for your humid hide
Substrate - for corns, you have a lot of options. You can use aspen shavings if you like, but coconut fibers, cypress mulch, and coconut husk are all great options. Whatever you choose, provide your snake with at least a couple inches so they can dig.
Climbing branches and other decor - climbing is a must, and vines, rocks, and tunnels made from cardboard tubes are other great options.
General care:
Feeding tongs.
Food for your snake. Even baby corns can eat whole pinky mice. Your offered food should be about 10% of your snake's body weight.
A soldering iron, believe it or not! A cheap soldering iron will serve you well throughout your snake's life - you can use it to easily melt holes in bowls and containers to make hides.
A small snake hook can help you with handling your snake, especially if you're nervous.
And some common beginner mistakes:
Don't move your snake to a separate enclosure to feed. It's a myth that will make your snake "aggressive" - it can actually cause more mistaken feeding bites as they associate handling with being fed!
Don't worry if your snake spends most of their time hiding, especially while young. A hiding snake is a happy snake!
Don't over-handle your snake, and always give them at least a week to settle in before offering food for the first time.
Never handle your snake for two days after they've eaten - that could cause a regurgitation.
Cornsnakes are some of the best pet snakes out there! With proper enclosure setup, you're all set for many happy years together with your new friend.

Hello! You have cool snakes and know a lot about them too, could I have some of your advice? I've recently been really into snakes, and seen tiktoks of how happy their owners are with them, it makes me really jealous and wishful for a snake companion of my own.
Except I know NOTHING about them, their care, needs or expenses. My experience with pets is a typical low to average maintenance dog, that's it. Never handled reptiles in my life. BUT SNAKES ARE SO ENTICING, and supremely cute too
I was wondering if you have any advice for a complete beginner on what kind of snake to get that's easy and as I said, for beginners (if it even works that way, I don't know a lot about snakes). If you have any resources and such.
Or even like, a checklist to see if I'm even eligible to own a snake (it could be hard idk). Want to know if it is even within my capabilities, the lifestyle needed and stuff like that.
Could you also give tips on their body language? I remember you mentioning in one of your posts that body language is important, and I wouldn't want to mess up. I want the potential cutie to like me after all.
Thank you anyway for your time! Appreciate it <3
so sorry for the late response i wanted to sit down and give a proper thought out guide and just haven't had time <3
checklist for eligibility:
you will need: a terrarium/vivarium, a heating device (heat mat, ceramic emitter or heat bulb), a thermostat (to control the heating device), a water bowl, a hide, substrate, and enrichment (sticks, leaves, decoration etc). make sure you have all of this on hand before you bring your pet home
you'll need to be comfortable or at least willing to feed your snake frozen prey, which means being able to consistently provide mice or rats (most common). most reptile stores will stock frozen!
depending on the species you want you'll need space for a vivarium. if you want a snake that can grow to be 4ft for example you'll need a space to put a 4ft viv.
you'll need to have time to regularly spot-clean their enclosure, which means binning their waste and removing shed skin. a full clean out once a month if not bioactive.
best "starter" snakes (imo):
rosy boa (2-3ft long, 25 years+)
royal python (3-6ft long, 20-30 years+)
corn snake (4-6ft long, 15-20 years+)
Tumblr media
rosy boa - these little noodles don't get enough credit! they stay very small, they're very docile, and easy to care for. due to them being so small they only need small prey items which won't take up a lot of space in your freezer. they're very good eaters. downside is they're less common than royals and corns so depending on where you are you may struggle to find one near you. they can also be more food-motivated than royals and when they have food on their mind they can be a little more bitey - but with their tiny size, i promise you can't even feel it (from experience)
Tumblr media
royal/ball python - a very common snake that can be found in most reptile shops. they're well known for being extremely docile and easy to handle as well as being super duper cute. they live longer than corns and rosys. downside to royals is they can be "fussy eaters" which can make new owners nervous - they're known for going off their food for months. they will also need larger prey items as they grow, so if you're not keen on keeping larger mice/rats in your freezer this is a downside. they're also more sensitive to improper temperature and humidity than corns.
Tumblr media
corn snake - very common so can be bought easily! they also tend to be some of the cheapest snakes, especially if you want to get a "normal/wild type" morph. due to them having a large range in the wild they can tolerate a wider range of temperatures and humidity levels. corns are much more active than royals and rosys, so if you want a snake you can watch do its thing then a corn is a good shout. with this being said, they can be more "squirmy" when being handled compared to royals and rosys as they kind of struggle to stay still.
however, you're not limited to a choice of just three species. as long as you research your snake thoroughly and make sure you have everything you need, you can keep whichever you prefer. my first snake was a brazilian rainbow boa which is a more "intermediate" species and "not suitable for beginners" but he's been great. with their more extreme humidity requirements, i just made sure to keep a hygrometer on hand (to measure humidity) and provided plenty of moss, a large water bowl, and regular mist spraying. never had an issue <3
basic body language:
it's important to note that when a snake is preparing to shed its skin it will be vulnerable. its eyes will cloud over and its skin will feel irritated. we call this being "in blue" because the snake takes on a milky blue colour. during this time your snake might become defensive and this is normal. you should leave a snake in blue alone.
signs of a calm snake: short tongue flicks, loose and relaxed body, moving slowly, fluidly moving towards stimuli, curiosity, regular breathing. a calm snake may sit in an "S" position but it will not be coiling up or fixating on you.
signs of stress in snakes include: long and slow tongue flicks, tail rattling, tail wagging, hissing, striking, open mouth breathing, regurgitation, body flattening, gliding (moving very quickly away), coiling with the head raised (preparing to strike)
this is a very obvious example of a defensive corn snake: their body is coiled into an "S" shape, the head is raised. it takes this position so that it can 1. have a clear view of you 2. to strike upwards/forwards at you if it feels threatened 3. to look bigger to frighten you off. this is a snake who doesn't want to be touched at ALL

let me know if you need anything else <3

Pawsitively Perfect: Pet-Friendly Furniture and Home Decor Tips for Stylish Living
For many of us, our pets are more than just animals—they're beloved members of the family. However, living with pets also means adapting our homes to accommodate their needs while maintaining a stylish and comfortable living environment for ourselves. Fortunately, with the right furniture and home decor choices, it's possible to achieve a harmonious balance between pet-friendly living and stylish design. In this article, our interior designers in Kollam will give you tips for creating a pet-friendly home that's both functional and fashionable.
1. Choose Durable Materials:
When selecting furniture and home decor items for a pet-friendly space, durability is key. Opt for materials that can withstand the wear and tear of everyday pet activities, such as scratching, shedding, and accidents. Look for furniture upholstered in pet-friendly fabrics like microfiber, leather, or outdoor-grade fabrics that are easy to clean and resistant to stains and odors.
2. Consider Pet-Friendly Furniture:
Invest in furniture that's specifically designed with pets in mind. Look for pet-friendly features such as removable, machine-washable slipcovers for sofas and chairs, which make cleaning up pet hair and stains a breeze. Additionally, consider furniture with built-in storage compartments or hidden pet beds to maximize space and keep pet accessories organized.
3. Opt for Washable Rugs and Flooring:
Pets can be messy, so it's essential to choose flooring and rugs that are easy to clean and maintain. Consider opting for hardwood or laminate flooring, which is more resistant to scratches and stains than carpet. If you prefer carpet, choose low-pile options that are less likely to trap pet hair and dirt. For area rugs, select machine-washable or stain-resistant materials that can withstand frequent cleaning.
4. Create Designated Pet Spaces:
Designate specific areas of your home for your pets to eat, sleep, and play. Invest in stylish pet beds, crates, or kennels that blend seamlessly with your home decor. Create a cozy nook for your pet with comfortable bedding and toys to keep them entertained and occupied. By providing designated spaces for your pets, you can help prevent them from wandering into areas where they're not allowed and minimize potential damage to your furniture and belongings.
5. Incorporate Pet-Friendly Accessories:
Incorporate pet-friendly accessories into your home decor to add a touch of style while catering to your pet's needs. Look for decorative storage bins or baskets to store pet toys, leashes, and grooming supplies. Choose pet bowls and feeding stations that complement your home's aesthetic, such as ceramic or stainless steel options in coordinating colors or patterns. Additionally, consider adding pet-friendly indoor plants like spider plants or bamboo to bring a touch of nature into your home while ensuring they're safe for your furry friends.
6. Keep Safety in Mind:
Ensure your home is safe and pet-friendly by removing or securing hazardous items that could pose a risk to your pets. Keep electrical cords, toxic plants, small objects, and household chemicals out of reach or securely stored away. Invest in pet gates or barriers to restrict access to certain areas of your home, such as stairs or rooms with delicate decor items.
7. Regular Maintenance and Cleaning:
Maintaining a pet-friendly home requires regular upkeep and cleaning to keep it looking its best. Establish a routine cleaning schedule that includes vacuuming, dusting, and mopping to remove pet hair, dander, and dirt. Wash bedding, blankets, and pet toys regularly to keep them clean and odour-free. Additionally, schedule professional upholstery and carpet cleanings as needed to remove stubborn stains and odours.
Creating a pet-friendly home that's stylish and functional is entirely achievable with the assistance from a team of reliable interior designers in Kerala. By selecting durable materials, incorporating pet-friendly features, and maintaining a regular cleaning routine, you can create a perfect living environment for both you and your furry friends. With these tips, you can enjoy the company of your pets while living in a home that's as stylish as it is welcoming.

Western Hognose Shopping List
Thanks to their big, fun personalities and small size, western hognose snakes (Heterodon nasicus) are becoming a more and more popular choice for a first pet snake. Though they're not as easy as some other good beginner-level snakes, hoggies are absolutely doable first snakes as long as you do lots of research and plan thoroughly! These adorable little snakes average around 2 feet long for females and just over 1 foot long for males, and can live to be up to 20 years old with proper care.
Before buying your hognose snake, it is extremely important to make sure you find a snake who is well-established and eating consistently on frozen/thawed, unscented mice. Don't overlook this - hoggies can be difficult to get eating on your own!
An important note of caution: hognoses are venomous snakes. Their venom is not medically significant to humans and usually results in no more than mild swelling and itching, but this is something to be very aware of! Hognose snakes almost never bite in self-defense, but mistaken feeding bites can happen so it's important to be aware and prepared.
Enclosure setup shopping list:
It's essential to make sure your hognose snake has plenty deep substrate to dig in! You will need to set up a temperature gradient of 88-78 Fahrenheit. Hoggies are not picky about humidity, and as long as you always make sure they have access to fresh, clean water, humidity shouldn't be a concern for you.
Enclosure. Adult hognose snakes can thrive in a 40 gallon enclosure. You can get away with a 20 gallon for males since they are considerably smaller, but bigger is better! For a baby snake, you and your snake will likely have an easier time if you get them set up in a 10 gallon enclosure until they put on some size.
If your enclosure has a screen lid, don't forget the screen clips.
Heat bulbs. I use ceramic heat emitters for most of my hognose snakes, but some respond very well to halogen lighting and UVB. The choice of providing visible heat and UVB is yours; the only snakes I would avoid it with are snakes with melanin-reducing morphs (like albinos and toffees) because it can damage their more sensitive eyes.
Never use a heat source without a thermostat!
Digital thermometer/hygrometer reader with probes - Zoo Med and Exo Terra make great dual gauges. Avoid stick-on dials!
At least two identical hides, one on either side. A proper hide has three solid walls and a smallish entrance - you want your snake to feel snug and secure. Baby hognoses especially will do best with lots of extra hides.
Here's my go-to option, you can easily take care of all that for one baby snake for like 5 dollars! Baby hognoses are extra tiny, so if you're buying a young baby, sugar caddies make perfect, cheap hides.)
Sphagnum moss for your humid hide
Substrate - for hognoses, I prefer aspen fiber because it holds hides well and isn't terribly dusty. Playsand/topsoil mixtures also work well. Whatever you choose, be sure to provide your snake with at least a few inches to burrow in!
Lots of clutter. Paper towel tubes are great, fun enrichment, and empty cardboard boxes are hits with lots of hoggies. They aren't big climbers, but giving them a few branches never hurts! It's very important to keep your enclosure cluttered so your snake feels safe. Crumpled balls of paper towel make for great extra clutter for small snakes.
Consider a blanket or other visual barrier to put over the enclosure to help your snake feel safe and hidden. Hognoses can be very sensitive and often benefit from a little extra privacy.
General care:
Feeding tongs.
Food for your snake. Baby hognoses can usually handle whole pinky mice. Your offered food should be about 10-15% of your snake's body weight.
A soldering iron, believe it or not! A cheap soldering iron will serve you well throughout your snake's life - you can use it to easily melt holes in bowls and containers to make hides.
It's very normal for hognose snakes to spend a lot of their time in their burrows.
Don't over-handle your snake, and always give them at least a week to settle in before offering food for the first time.
Never handle your snake for two days after they've eaten - that could cause a regurgitation.
Avoid heat mats as a heat source for hognose snakes. Because they need such thick substrate, the heat mat can cause dangerous hot pockets within the substrate.
And be prepared to be flexible! Hognose snakes are such wonderful, fun pets, but they certainly have a bit of a dramatic streak. Expect some hissing, puffy cheeks, and a few theatrics! These are snakes with opinions about how you should care for them, so listen to what they're telling you.
I don't know what life would be like without my pet hognose snakes! They're fun, engaging pets who will make you laugh every day, and if you do your research to get them set up properly, you're well on your way to many awesome years together.

Best Dog Bowls Available for Your Dogs
Searching for a durable and safe dog bowls for your furry pal? PetYupp, one of the fastest-growing online pet supplies platforms, has a wide variety of bowls.
Tumblr media
You can’t buy a random dog bowl for every breed. Best Dog Bowls should be bought with keeping your dog in mind because the eating habits of your dog depend very much on the dog bowl, and eating habits can determine the health of your dog.
Qualities of a Purchasable Dog Bowl
If a Dog Bowl is heavy on your pockets and unsafe for your dog, then it is not a great decision to buy it. You need to check some qualities of a dog bowl before making a purchase, as mentioned below:
Size of Your Dog: The design of the bowl depends very much upon the size of the dog. If you have a larger dog then you should go for an elevated bowl so that they do not have to bend their neck beyond their comfort zone to have a meal. Small-sized dogs like Pomeranians and pugs require bowls attached closer to the ground.
Eating Habits of your Dog: Some dogs can’t just wait to finish all their meals. They want to inhale the food in one go but that should not be the way. A meal should always be finished patiently at the correct pace which is why slow-feeder bowls are great for fast eaters.
Age of Your Dog: Younger dogs have no mobility issues, and have a faster metabolism than older dogs. Elevated dog bowls are good for older dogs because of mobility problems.
Which Dog Bowl Material Is Best?
There are a wide variety of bowls available in the market, made from different materials like stainless steel to ceramic. Dog bowls made of plastic are generally avoided because of health and environmental concerns. Some chemicals from plastic dog bowls can be released into food that can harm your dog. It may be inexpensive and cheap, but it is less durable and more harmful than other alternatives like stainless steel or ceramic.
Heavy Stainless Steel Round Bucket available on the website of PetYupp is one of the great options for dogs with large necks, who have trouble with smaller and flat bowls. Ceramic bowls are also great but make sure to buy a high-quality ceramic bowl because chips and cracks in the ceramic bowl glazes contain heavy toxic metals that can be harmful to your pets.  From Non Skid Bowls to Heavy Feeding Bowls, there are many stainless steel dog bowls available on the PetYupp online store at affordable prices. These bowls are not just attractive but they will also help fix the eating habits of your dog. Choosing the wrong bowl can have severe consequences, your pet can suffer from life-threatening canine bloat but you won’t need to go from one store to another in search of one suitable bowl when you can buy it with a lot of other pet supplies on PetYupp.

1. Material Matters:
Your cat's eating pleasure may be greatly impacted by the cat bowl's material. Glass, ceramic, stainless steel, and plastic are examples of common materials. While stainless steel is strong, hygienic, and resistant to bacteria, plastic bowls are less expensive but more prone to scratches and bacteria. Glass and ceramic bowls are dishwasher safe and hefty, so they are less likely to topple over. When selecting the material, take your cat's preferences and any potential allergies into account.
2. Size and depth:
When it comes to the size and depth of their bowls, cats have certain tastes. While some cats feel more at ease in shallow dishes, others do better in deeper ones. It's important to watch how your cat eats and select a bowl that fits their favorite feeding method. Furthermore, since some cats can find it uncomfortable, make sure the bowl is large enough to keep their whiskers from touching the sides.
3. Elevated or Grounded:
Because elevated cat bowls may help cats with certain medical ailments, such as arthritis or digestive problems, they have become more and more popular. Elevated bowls help ease joint pain and encourage a more comfortable eating position. Nevertheless, it's important to take into account your cat's specific requirements and preferences as some cats could prefer to feed from a grounded bowl.
4. Easy to Clean:
When it comes to your cat's food supplies, cleanliness is crucial. Since residual food particles can quickly accumulate with bacteria, choose bowls that are easy to clean. Stainless steel bowls are a practical option because they are scratch-resistant and dishwasher safe. Maintaining the longevity of the bowl and ensuring a healthy dining environment are two benefits of routine cleaning.
5. Different Bowls for Different Needs:
If you have more than one cat or if one of them has a preference for different bowls for food and water, you might want to provide them their own dishes. In addition to ensuring that every cat gets access to the resources they require, this can help avoid territorial disputes.
In conclusion,
selecting the ideal cat bowl could seem like a little choice, but it has a big influence on your cat's health and eating pleasure. You can locate the ideal dish that fulfills the specific requirements of your feline companion by taking into account elements like substance, size, depth, elevation, and cleaning convenience. If you take the time to choose the ideal cat bowl, your cat will be happier, healthier, and more satisfied. For more clickhere

These things are beyond their own control to change. Another thing - Bengals aren't excellent with water positioned in bowls. I no longer location thin down for my cat water bowls, and haven't troubled doing so for many years. There is a numerous supply of water in the immediate location and they choose to discover their own. Alternatively, they love to consume from the faucet. This is suggested by sitting next to one and either looking at it or screeching until their need for a drink is addressed. This is her option so I'm not slamming her but for me that would be irresponsible. The feeding of that manycats would be method outside my spending plan, and the vet cat bowls costs would be expensive. If it is relaxed and undisturbed, the cat will consume better. Make sure that you clear out your cat's feeding dish after ever meal. Make certain to keep the location around the dish clean also (this is more easily achieved if you position the bowl down on a piece of newspaper that can be replaced at the end of each feeding. If your feline has problemclimbing cat food bowls into his litter box, search fora brand-new one with lower sides, so that he can continue his regular routine more easily. The kind of bowl makes a substantial distinction. Stainless-steel or ceramic will have the highest rate of success. Plastic is a porous product and tends to take in smell. While a human may not have the ability to smell it, a feline will and may not wish to drink it believing the water is tainted.
